These days, there are a number of procedures that can restore a more youthful appearance without the need to cut and stich. These state-ofthe-art non-surgical procedures are performed on an outpatient basis in the physician’s office, without the need of general anesthesia, and have zero to minimal down time. Technology has improved tremendously allowing for minimally invasive cosmetic procedures that deliver quicker, sometimes immediate results and the risk of serious complications has tremendously decreased.

REJUVENATION QUICKIES

A lunch break facial rejuvenation can be easily achieved by combining dermal fillers and Botulinum toxin A injections for a more youthful and renewed YOU. Dermal fillers (such as Restylane Silk®, Restylane-L®, and Restylane Lyft®) are a quick way to get almost instant improvement on deep facial wrinkles, skin folds, add volume and fullness to the skin. Botulinum toxin A injection therapy is one of the quickest, most popular treatments for preventing lines from forming and making those you already have less visible. Dysport® (pronounced DIS-port) is a form of botulinum toxin A. In most cases, it takes effect quicker and lasts longer than other popular brands of muscle relaxers. From frown lines, forehead wrinkles, to crow's feet, it can give you a refreshed look. Jowls or a double chin can be easily improved by using a combination of injections to destroy fatty pockets and radio-frequency heat to lift and tighten. Injections such as Kybella are placed directly into the submental fat pocket to rapidly destroy fat cells. Forma fractional thermal contraction treatments are excellent for giving your skin a tighter and lifted appearance by stimulating collagen production and improving skin elasticity.

Threads can also be used for a tummy and butt lift. Definitely not the same threads used by your seamstress to hem up your pants!

SCULPT AND FIRM UP Skin tightening, body contouring and cellulite treatments that utilize radiofrequency have minimal down time and can be performed in combination or as individual treatments. Dr. Schweitzer utilizes both Plus™ and Body FX™ to contour, lift skin, and improve dimpled cellulite skin. Body FX™ utilizes radio-frequency energy, deep tissue heating, and suction coupled negative pressure to reduce the unsightly appearance of cellulite leading to improvements in your body contour. BodyFX™ also attacks fat cells, killing them through a process called apoptosis. The Plus™ uses fractionated radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production leading to an uplifted, firmer and smoother contour of the body.

stem cell response which help in growing new collagen, repairing damaged skin, and to help slow and reverse the signs of aging. Within a few weeks of treatment, an overall improvement in skin hydration, texture and tone can be seen. Reduction of fine lines, wrinkles and volume correction can also happen over the next three to six months. The effects of PRP can last 12 months to two years, depending on the individual. Popular treatment areas include saggy and wrinkled lower eyelids; wrinkled, puckered and aging skin surrounding the mouth, and the drooping neck. PRP can be directly injected into the areas of deficit or it can be combined with micro-needling to increase the benefits of micro-needling.

NON-SURGICAL THREAD LIFTING

Thread lifting is a quick and safe procedure that “utilizes a specialized polydioxanone (PDO) suture to lift droopy, loose and saggy skin. The suture has tiny barb like edges that attach to the undersurface of the skin or the underlying fat. The sutures are gently adjusted to lift and move the skin” Dr. Schweitzer explains. Patients are comfortably numbed with injection of local anesthesia into the skin during the treatment. These specialized threads are made of suture material which has been around for many years. Dr. Schweitzer tells us that “polydioxanone (PDO) threads have tiny barb like structures which hook onto the skin to provide support and lift sagging skin. Over a few weeks the threads trigger fibroblasts to induce collagen production around the threads and keep the lifted look. The threads are eventually broken down by the body but the collagen persists for several additional months. Common thread lift areas are falling eyebrows, skin on the cheeks that drop forward toward the upper lip, the lower face descending toward the chin, the jowls and drooping of the neck.

I n sp ired b y n a ture. C r a f t e d for people. MARK GABERTAS: OASIQ has a design philosophy that references mid-century typologies in a gentle and subtle way, while still being truly modern. GIJS PAPAVOINE: Because various designers design the OASIQ collections, you get a nice mix of styles, which makes the OASIQ collection interesting and actual.

Where does the name 'Oasiq' originate from? OASIQ: We want to create a perfect OASIS for all our user with Quality products! Q FOR QUALITY Quality is in our DNA. OASIQ’s roots can be traced back to a long tradition of craftsmanship in fine leather, sturdy metal parts and weatherproof textiles for equestrian sports. This makes us especially qualified to meet the high demands made on outdoor furniture. The state-of-the art materials we use are guaranteed to endure the elements, as well as to meet the high standards of comfort and flexibility modern life sets. What makes the OASIQ outdoor furniture designs so unique and innovative? OASIQ: OASIQ outdoor furniture connects people to the beauty of their surroundings. The simple elegance of nature’s own creations is always the source of our inspiration. Luckily for us, nature’s secret was unlocked centuries ago. The beauty of the spiral pattern created by a sunflower’s central cluster of florets is expressed by the golden ratio. This ratio holds the key to shapes that are pleasant to behold and is the bedrock of our approach. What inspired you to primarily focus on outdoor furniture?

Behind the scenes are the people whose skills and dedication help to achieve our vision at factory level. They form the backbone of our company. Our factory in Thailand has been specialized in the manufacturing of materials for outdoor use since 2001. Every aspect of production is handled by specialists in their field of expertise. The cutting of the steel and aluminum parts, the molding and joining of the teak components, the hand polishing and powder coating, the quality control at every stage - every step is carried out in-house.

What is the inspiration behind your latest collection?

OASIQ relies on the skills of people who pay meticulous attention to detail to create the top-quality furniture discerning customers expect. Traditional working methods that rely on craftsmanship, such as hand weaving, are used side by side with stateof-the-art modern technology to produce outdoor furniture that is both sturdy and perfectly finished. Personal attention is given to every piece of furniture before final approval.

When I was young, I would play a game called cat’s cradle whereby two people would make patterns with a single loop of string and pass them to each other. What proved interesting during the development of Sandur was the ability of the weave to follow a different profile than might be expected from the form of the frame itself and to create an independent 3-dimensional shape within the skeletal steel structure. This gave us more freedom to allow the frame to express itself and take on a character of its own. It is the nature and degree of the interdependence between frame and weave that fascinated and inspired us in this project.

What do you love most about designing outdoor furniture? Mark Gabertas: There is always an opportunity to create something that breaks a mould. Gijs Papavoine: outdoor furniture may have a super relaxed appearance. You can make the models a bit oversized, so that they get their own identity together again

Mark Gabertas: The market for outdoor furniture has seen the most rapid change over the past few years as more brands launch new designs to meet the demand of an increasingly design literate consumer who wishes their outdoors to be as sophisticated as their indoors.

Mark Gabertas: It has the ability to give a home its soul and to lift the spirits….to create mini environments and landscapes within a larger space that make you feel like it is a special place to exist. Gijs Papavoine: furniture is a reflection of your own personality. To create a good and right atmosphere, you have to surround yourself with characterful furniture, where you feel comfortable.

Can you walk us through the process of creating one of your designs?

52 JULY 2020 | MODELISTE

The name of the range was chosen carefully to reflect the essence of the design. A sandur is a naturally occurring geological feature……it is used to describe a plain made up of glacial deposits and sediments that can often incorporate distinctive patterns created by the braid like streams threading across them. In your perspective, how does furniture influence a home?

Gijs Papavoine: The thought of translating indoor to outdoor was an exciting source of inspiration.

OASIQ: Inspired by vintage designs that have endured for decades by winning people’s hearts, OASIQ outdoor furniture has a distinctive yet versatile style. Our journey in search of new ideas has led to original creations that combine modern design insights and high-tech materials with skilled craftwork. We love to work with designers who share our vision of creativity and our ambition to exceed people’s expectations. OASIQ finds inspiration in nature to craft outdoor furniture for people.

Mark Gabertas: The brief was for a range of seating for outdoor use primarily, but which also had an aesthetic that would work for interior spaces and to demonstrate the skills of the brand in traditional manufacturing techniques, weaving being one of them. The pattern used on Sandur is technically demanding and also original to us…. by combining different rope patterns, weave and frame colours.

What elements go into designing an outdoor patio space? Mark Gabertas: Imagination, restraint and inspiration naturally…… but most of all a real understanding of how you wish to use the space and how you wish to feel when in it. SERAC 105 Dining Table

Gijs Papavoine: for an outdoor patio, it seems necessary to me to create a space for relaxing and a place for lunch and / or dinner in the shade. Bringing an indoor atmosphere to the outdoors.

MARK GABBERTAS

Designer of COCO, SANDUR, SERAC and MACHAR Mark Gabbertas is a multiple award-winning Designer who has pioneered many new forms and processes in furniture design. He was at the forefront of the renaissance in the British designer/maker movement in the 1990s before establishing the Gabbertas studio in 2001. The design studio currently leads the way in experimenting with new technologies and has earned accolades for pushing the boundaries of outdoor furniture design. “As a studio we find ourselves being drawn repeatedly to designs that fulfill the rigorous demands made of furniture for outdoor use, while managing to retain a lightness of touch that makes them suitable for interior use too. I suspect we enjoy the challenge.” “When I was young, I would play a game called cat’s cradle whereby two people would make patterns with a single loop of string and pass them to each other. What proved interesting during the development of SANDUR was the ability of the weave to follow a different profile than might be expected from the frame itself and to create an independent 3-dimensional shape within the skeletal steel structure. This gave us more freedom to allow the frame to express itself and take on a character of its own, while at the same time providing the support in key areas for the weave to perform the essential ergonomic functions. GIJS PAPAVOINE Designer of MORO

Design virtuoso Gijs Papavoine excels at asking a simple idea to its logical conclusion. Strong graphic elements complemented by an inspired use of basic shapes characterize his work. His quest for the perfect mix of pure lines and functionality has made him a peerless designer of chairs in particular. This culminated in groundbreaking designs in which gracefully arched backs raised the bar in terms of seating comfort. “My roots are in industrial design, not in art. My designs reflect this because they are uncomplicated, logical and practical. I start with a general idea and proceed to work it out on paper until the essential features of my design emerge. It’s much like sculpting. As a designer I think it’s also very important to stay in tune with the hustle and bustle of daily life. I thrive on chaos, and an important part of my inspiration is drawn from my encounters with the people I meet as I go about my day.” “The MARO lounge sofa reflects my aim to combine overall simplicity with well-chosen prominent features. Exceptionally wide armrests merge into an open frame that surrounds oversized soft cushions, creating an effective expression of luxury. The solidity of the teak is in perfect balance with the softness of the cushions.”

20 Questions with Mary Leest How do you spend the first thirty minutes of your day? I always drink coffee and eat breakfast as soon as I wake up. I’m one of those people who need to eat the second they open their eyes. If I don’t have breakfast within the first 15 minutes after getting out of bed, I start feeling anxious. What is your everyday skincare routine? I’ve been in self-isolation for 3 months now and my skincare routine underwent different periods throughout this time. At first, I took this time as an opportunity to do intense skincare using a lot of the products I had in my bathroom. Some of my all-time favorites are Pixi Glow-O2 Oxygen Mask and peeling from Skin Inc, Pure Revival Peel. Two weeks in, I decided to change my strategy. I believe that your skin can become addicted to products and might lose its natural ability to renew itself. I thought I would use lockdown time to let my skin rest and naturally regenerate without overloading it with skincare. Now I simply wash my face with water and sometimes spray Evian thermal water during the day as air in our homes tends to be a bit dry. What have you been doing to incorporate "self-care" into your time at home? I go to ‘SPA’ once a week. Meaning that I lock myself in the bathroom and pretend I’m in a beauty salon. First, I take a hot shower to open my pores. Then I scrub my body and moisturize using shea butter. I love how natural and simple it is, how it melts on my skin and makes it finer than a baby’s. Also I apply Gisou hair mask the night before and after rinsing it off during my SPA treatment, I just let my hair air-dry. I started washing my hair once every 5-6 days. Washing it too often makes your scalp dry and washes away natural oils your body produces. Where do you get your beauty products? I’m fortunate enough to get to through PR packages. My forever favorites I purchase at Sephora. If I have close relationship with the brand, I may ask the PR to send over some products I ran out of. I always talk about my favorite products and strongly believe in this type of collaboration when I genuinely love and use the products and ask brands to send them to me. 68 JULY 2020 | MODELISTE

How often do you try new products? I’m not someone who is comfortable with trying new things very often. My skin is very sensitive and I can’t take risks. However if I am familiar with the brand, or I’ve heard a lot of good reviews about the product, or I love the ingredients and philosophy of the brand, I might give it a try.

Can you share a recipe with us that you enjoy making at home? My recent obsession is vegan pancakes. It’s so easy, healthy and delicious! You just mix oat flour, a banana, non-dairy milk and a bit of natural sweetener together and bake it on a non-stick pan. I just posted the exact recipe on my Instagram.

What qualities do you look for in skincare? I usually go for medical-grade skincare products. I also prefer natural ingredients over chemical ones.

What is your favorite fashion trend right now? I’ve been loving the vest trend over the past months. It can be knit or leather, chunky or perfectly fitted, worn alone or over a turtleneck, there are countless ways to style a vest, they make any outfit look more evaluated and interesting.

What are three beauty products you cannot live without? Number one is Derma E Hydrating Micellar Cleansing wipes. I always make sure to clean my skin perfectly before going to bed. Valmont Renewal Mask is another product I can’t live without. And last but not least is a lip sleeping mask.

Who are your top three favorite designers? The first designer that comes to my mind is Dior. I love the elegant feminine silhouettes, their clothes always give you that French nostalgia. Using all sorts of skincare might help, but it’s not the core solution.

Where do you live and what do you enjoy spending most of your time doing? I don’t know where I live haha. My clothes live in NYC, I call it my repacking station. I’m always on the go. If it’s not for projects, I travel to see my family or visit my friends who live in different parts of the world. I enjoy this gypsy lifestyle for now, but I feel that I will need to slow down a bit in the near future. How did you start your career as an Influencer? It all began around 8 years ago. I started modeling when I was very little, but never felt like it was my cup of tea. I always had a very strong opinion about everything, including makeup and styling. Being a model, you get to work with amazing creatives, but you have to go with their decisions and your vision doesn’t really count. You’re a canvas for a big team of professionals. While modeling, I started my blog where I would write about fashion trends, emerging brands and give styling ideas. I didn’t know what I wanted to be, but knew for sure that I wanted to work in the fashion industry, so I started trying myself from different angles. I attended my first MFW 6 years ago and that’s when it all hit off. How do you develop inspiration and ideas for the great content you create? I get inspired by interesting people and their unique vision of the world. That makes me look around through the eyes of someone else. And there’s never two people with the same point of view. People are my endless source of inspiration. How do you stay up to date with new fashion trends and beauty hacks? I mostly discover fashion trends during Fashion Week season. For beauty, I keep an eye on what my favorite makeup artists and fellow blogger girls are doing. I work closely with editors and have many friends involved in the industry, we always discuss what’s new on the fashion scene.

20 Questions with Johanna Emma Olsson How do you spend the first thirty minutes of your day? I always start my day with 5 minutes of meditation to set the mood and intention for the day ahead. Then I have some black coffee and a glass of grapefruit juice. Then I do my morning beauty routine, wash my face and put on my cremes and spf before I head out for a walk before breakfast. What is your everyday skincare routine? I actually like being quite minimalistic with my skincare routine. I use my wash, creme, serum and SPF from mesoestetic. On my body I use a blend of body lotion and I mix that with some coconut oil and castor oil. What have you been doing to incorporate "self-care" into your time at home? I have actually been enjoying quarantine quite a lot because I love self-care. I’ll take oil baths and leave me hair masks on for ages. I also love using pixies in shower steam facials while I just lay there and absorb all the moisture I can get haha. Another product from pixie I love is their milky peel. It’s great for your face but I was at a dinner with pixie and one of the girls told me to use this on my feet and I’m obsessed they get so smooth - it’s amazing! Where do you get your beauty products? I actually just launched my own beauty shop where I stock most of my favourite products. We will get more of my favourites in soon but it’s a great selection there! How often do you try new products? I’m a person that generally likes to stick to my favourites when I’ve found them. I often try new treatments, facials and lasers though. And with my work I also get to try a lot of different products so sometimes there pops up new favourites into my routine but I’m loyal to my basics. 74 JULY 2020 | MODELISTE

What qualities do you look for in skincare? That I actually see/feel a difference haha. So many products I just don’t see that with. I like things that are INTENSE so I know it’s like doing something you know. What are three beauty products you cannot live without? For sure my SPF from mesoestetic with pigment control, I have done way too many laser treatments to ruin my skin all over again with pigmentation. I also love their whitening serum because you really do see results from it. And then I love my pixie milky peel for my feet, I like taking care of my feet. Give us a 5 minute skincare/makeup strategy for your next Zoom meeting or date. Right now I’m definitely going for the no makeup look. Because if I have a FaceTime date or a meeting I wouldn’t want the person to think that I put on tons of makeup for them haha. A bit of concealer, mineral powder, creme blush and some sweeps of mascara is my go to. What are your tips and tricks to keeping healthy, clear skin? I did a clinical peel called dermamelan a couple of months ago. It's the best thing I’ve done in my life. All my pigmentations are gone, my skin tone is much more even and it has changed my whole skin texture. I'm so happy with it. If you feel like you’ve tried everything else (which I had) try this. I can almost guarantee you it will work for you too. Talk to your dermatologist. But it changed my skin. Do you have any other beauty hacks you can share with us? When it comes to at home hacks I like dry brushing, natural oils on my body, sleeping in silk bedding is good for hair and body, collagen powders and swallowing a spoon of flaxseed oil everyday, putting in some coconut oil with your coffee. All those things I love! And of course the classic drink lots of water, but it’s true. Can you share a recipe with us that you enjoy making at home? Haha I’m very basic when cooking for myself because I like to watch what I eat. Right now I’m into eating salmon so I have that almost every day with different salads and hummus. What is your favorite fashion trend right now? I really love faded bright yellow right now and I so wish I could put on a dress or a blazer dress in this colour and go out for dinner.. soon right!!

Who are your top three favorite designers? 90s Karl Lagerfeld always - I love vintage Chanel. I LOVE Amina Muaddis shoes, and I love shoes overall and I feel her designs are genius. Also love Virgil, I think I have probably bought the most Louis Vuitton lately then I have ever done before. What are three staple pieces in your closet you cannot live without? I’m a very staple kind of person, same as with my skincare and makeup. My closet is built on a LOT of blazers, a white blazer is a staple for me. I also love coats, trench coats, long and flowy ones over a tiny dress is always a winner - and a pair of really nice heels (I’m a shoe girl) What advice do you have for keeping organized while staying busy? I like when everything is a mix of 50% organization and 50% spontaneity. I like making fast decisions and when things move super quick but I always need to have a organized plan as a base. Are you working on any exciting projects this year? I just launched my shop but I’m working on a second project which is something completely different then what I’ve done before. But it’s something I’m passionate about so I decided to do it anyway. You need to follow your passions in life. I feel that’s important to feel that you're really living your life! Where do you live and what do you enjoy spending most of your time doing? I live in London and I’m honestly a stay at home person and I love my flat. But this quarantine has made me crave London’s incredible restaurants and culture so badly! I have promised myself I will go out and enjoy it more when this is over. How did you start your career as an Influencer? I actually started over 10 years ago with blogging in Sweden. So I’m one of the originals haha. Didn’t know it would turn into this huge business it is today and no one got paid for doing it back then but then again it was just a passion for photography and clothes I had and I decided to go for it! How do you stay up to date with new fashion trends and beauty hacks? I like to follow other creatives, magazines and photographers that inspire me. I would never copy someone else’s work but everything I do is for sure inspired by other amazing people I love getting inspiration from!

CANCER

You have the ability to do things differently this time, which will put you in the position of building a life style which will be much more stable and enduring in the future. Perhaps things have been the same for too long and things are stagnating a bit. It is likely that you need to consider making some changes to shake things up somewhat. Balancing your situation will bring harmony and understanding into the mix, which will help to bring peace and serenity and the ability to see clearly what needs to be done next. You have all the necessary skills to take this new road, and now is the time.

LEO

You need to get up and make the effort to look into what you can do to make your life a little more exciting. You may feel more able to grasp the reins of your life and choose the direction you now wish to go. You will be more able to make the decisions you wish to make, and get to the point where you feel you are firmly in control of your life. Your core need this month is to celebrate the relationships in your life, to appreciate all the joy and happiness your loved ones bring to your door, and to just enjoy all the interactions with the people in your life.

VIRGO

This period would be prompting you to make efforts to stop focusing purely on the negatives, and the hurt, but to make a real effort to focus your thoughts on the positives, to start healing the hurts of the past and proactively work to bringing your relationships into a more loving and happy place. You are the architect of your own life and instinctively you probably know best, but other people might be jostling you off your road because they feel they are, or should be, involved.

LIBRA

You are likely to discover how much more able you are to understand about managing the stresses in life, and dealing with the issues at hand on a much more intellectual, rather than a physical level. This period suggest bringing more heart and love into a situation rather than intellect and, possibly, to consider slowing things down a little in order to be able to do what you do way more effectively. You would focus on success after 22nd in establishing a very happy, secure home life with the necessary income to keep everything running exactly as you wish.

SCORPIO

This period indicates a mastering of any project that you are undertaking, and you are more than ready to succeed in all that you do for yourself and your family. You are already taking things forward in a confident and determined way. In addition, it seems, there is likely to be an offer of a partnership, or some help on the financial front, which will also help considerably, It is likely that you will hear something that will herald some changes at last – by allowing yourself to be serene, and hopeful, you will be opening yourself, and making yourself ready, for things to start moving. 124 JULY 2020 | MODELISTE

SAGITTARIUS

It is likely there are significant chances that will have a huge impact on your life, so grab them with both hands and make the most of them. This period suggests new starts, and choices around what is best for your relationships, at home and at work, and these decisions will have a major impact on your life. These days have a positive feeling to them so the future looks bright and exciting. Your core need is to consider in which area you are best to develop, or increase, your knowledge or skill-set.

CAPRICORN

A very rewarding home life, filled with everything you need to make you feel secure and happy, a feeling of where you want to be, and doing the things you want to do. It also indicates a new adventure and the excitement of new experiences, but also suggesting to not go charging into situations without the necessary knowledge and understanding, so keep your wits about you too. You are probably going to go through some drastic transformation and start to approach life from a new angle.

AQUARIUS

It’s a good month for collaboration as wherever you go you bring a sense of peace, balance and harmony. It’s also a good month to be dipping your toe in the water of new projects. Something will be coming to light very soon, some enlightenment for you on a personal level, However, it seems that things are beginning to unfold behind the scenes. . If you are able to grab those reins and start directing the chariot of your life down the road you want to go down, then you may be able to expect to be on a winning streak.

PISCES

You seem to have a couple of paths that you could follow. Be careful not to be paralyzed by decision making. Try to take off the blinkers, stop burying your head in the sand and actually start moving forward. You are not really feeling yourself at the moment but as soon as you decide which path to take you will find your sense of fun again. The opportunity is there for good luck to come knocking but you need to be watchful for the signs and be ready to receive this when it comes.

ARIES

Your new positive mindset is likely to prompt success in areas, such as projects, or any endeavors you undertake. This period represents complete happiness and commitment in a relationship, and this would suggest that your efforts will undoubtedly pay off, in terms of the ones you love. You may undertake a new and exciting adventure, or a new way of approaching things that could make your life much easier to manage, as well as enabling you to have fun doing them. Great month for taking stock and looking at where you are in life so far.

TAURUS

This period should help reignite your excitement and optimism. A new aspect of your life opening up for you or the beginning of a new phase would be there.. You may be presented with some wonderful opportunities that are yours for the taking. Relationship matters are going to need looking at as this period represents nostalgia or looking at the past through rose tinted spectacles. You will be moving onto the next level of achievement with ease, building upon what you have already started, and your hard work really starting to pay off.

GEMINI

You may need to adopt a more loving attitude to yourself, treat yourself well, make sure you nurture your needs – food and water – and to relax when you can. It could well be that you will have a month of working hard and not getting the financial reward that you deserve. It is very important that you only take on the tasks that are high priority in order to take the pressure off yourself. You will be surprised that by speaking to someone about your issues, and allowing people to help you by taking on some of your tasks, you would feel pressure getting eased.
