EDITOR'S LETTER

Welcome to the issue his Summer, creativity and inspiration has taken a newfound importance. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us will spend these warm-weather days at home. There are many stories to be told and Modeliste is committed to telling them. We all feel anxious, grappling with their new, surreal, stay-at-home, socially distant normals in cities across the globe. We are separated from loved ones and uncertain of our future. What we do have though, is the need to create, to feel a part of something meaningful, to share our personal journeys, relate to one another and to realize the importance of self-care. It is with that in mind, we bring you the Creativity issue. In this issue of Modeliste, our Cover shoot with television personality, model and actress, Hannah Ann Sluss was shot remotely, following the new socially distancing guidelines. Our world renowned Photographer, Sarah Krick was in Florida while Hannah was at-home in Los Angeles. This is a true testament to our ability to adapt and be creative in times of change, challenges and adversity. Elsewhere in the issue, our monthly Mode Around The Globe, transitioned to our Mode At-Home Self-Care and Self-Love “virtual” getaway with our favorite Influencers showing us how they have passed this time, stayed healthy and positive and continue to inspire and create for their fans. Plans that aren’t canceled: self-love, self-acceptance, motivation, empowering one another and feeling strong and beautiful. Welcome to the issue.

Hi, guys. It's Hannah Ann. Welcome to my apartment. I've been quarantined here for the past two months, but I'm so excited to be a part of the Modeliste Magazine to really make this cover shoot happen. I actually had to do a Zoom photo shoot in my apartment, so whenever the images come out, you'll be able to see little glimpses of my home, which I'm excited about because it just makes the photo shoot more personal, so you guys get to see where I live and get to know me more, but I am just so thrilled to be a part of Modeliste Magazine. I have looked up to so many of the women that have been on the cover before and knowing that I get to be a part of it is just such a highlight for this year, and I'm just so appreciative and thankful for it.

people. I'm very curious. I like to ask people questions. I definitely prefer being the listener than the talker and then creative. I love art. I love fashion, and truly modeling is a creative outlet for me. Those are the three words that would describe myself. You were recently on season 24 of The Bachelor, how has your career changed since? Since the show, it's not just my career that's changed. It's my entire life and everyone I feel like in my life as well just knowing so much of myself is out there to the public. I modeled prior to the show, so I've continued to do the career that I had prior to the show. It's definitely expanded my range, but I'm going back to what I'm passionate about. It's interesting because being a model you just see pictures and then now I feel like have more of a voice, and I'm excited about that. But also, it's a big responsibility when you are carrying this voice. For me, it's important to make sure I'm continuing to be a good role model and using the voice I've been given for greater good.

Where are you from? I am born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, so that is East Tennessee close to the Smoky Mountains. What influenced your decision to move to LA? And what really encouraged me or influenced me to move to L.A. is it's I believe is truly the city of dreams and opportunities, and it's truly the epicenter of food, culture, fashion. It's a city that's constantly moving forward. I had it on my bucket list to move out here in 2020. Despite being quarantined, I've got a good experience. I lived in different cities before I've lived in Miami and then I've done subleases in L.A., but this is truly my first time really calling L.A. my permanent home for the time being. But I've loved it so far, and I'm looking forward to the day where I can go to a restaurant and go get my nails done and really see the city for what it is. What are three words to describe you? Three words that describe me. Oh, I feel like these questions are awkward because I hate talking about myself. I'm a listener, I'm creative and I'm a hustler. I'm definitely a hustler, and I enjoy listening to other 24 JUNE 2020 | MODELISTE

How was your experience on The Bachelor? My time on The Bachelor was definitely a wild ride, very unique. But, at the end of the day, I wouldn't change anything about it, about the experience because I'm a stronger woman for it, and it truly has deepened my appreciation for my family and my friends and just life in general. And I'm truly grateful for it. You were a pageant star growing up, can you tell us about your experience? I would not call myself a pageant star by any means. I was among many stars, but I'm not one of them. Pageantry really gave me the opportunity to brush up on my etiquette and on media and speaking, and I enjoyed the experience for what it is, and I met a lot of wonderful people. What is a highlight in your career? So the highlight of my career thus far has to be the very first big job I got, and I have to make this highlight because it's the craziest story. I was about to turn 17. It was after school and I was waiting for my mom to get done with work because my mom was a teacher and she had a meeting. And so I was looking through Seventeen Magazine, and I was looking at the pictures of the models. I was like, "I would love to be in this magazine. What a crazy dream." And so I saw that they were doing a model search,

and so I had my little sister take pictures of me. And I didn't tell my mom, and we submitted the photos. I literally printed them off at Walgreens and then mailed them. And about two months later, my mom got a phone call that they wanted little Hannah Ann from Knoxville, Tennessee to fly to New York city to do some of ... It was for a makeup line. And my mom was like, "Wait. Hannah Ann, what did you do? You can't just be sending my number, your address, your pictures to random companies and magazines." I'm like, "No, mom. It was only in Seventeen Magazine." So that's really the highlight of my career because it really taught me that it just takes one person to believe in you to completely change your life, because with Seventeen Magazine it truly opened so many opportunities for me. I was able to work with them, I think, for about a year and a half, and I met so many awesome people, designers, the stylist, the makeup artist. And also, throughout the experience I met my best friend, Leah. She was also modeling at the time. Of course, this was years ago, and we've always been good friends ever since. Are you working on exciting projects that we can expect to see in 2020? For me, it's not about just getting the next job. The takeaway of it is the experience and truly appreciating every aspect of it. It's not just about looking at pretty photos of yourself. It's paying attention to the smallest details and working together as a team is just the best part of modeling in my career. I just shot a campaign with Juice Beauty, which I'm so excited about. I have used their products for a few years now, and I love them because you don't have to worry about what you're putting on your face or your body because it's free of anything harmful, so I'm really excited about that. Of course, in 2020 I had so many projects and plans that have had to be postponed because of quarantine, but I'm looking forward to them. One of them is I'm working towards being part of Sherri Hill's fashion show in September, and I'm very excited about that. I hope this year I can continue to model but also expand my career a little bit more and branching out into possibly hosting. I love entertainment and I love meeting new people, so I might as well give it a shot. I might be terrible at it, but at least I could try.

What is something people don’t know about you? Something people might not know about me. I laugh a lot. I don't take myself too seriously. If you were to hang out with me, I would probably be mispronouncing a word. Dancing, music, trying something new, very spontaneous. I like to have fun. I like to be light-hearted. So that's what it would be if you were to hang out with me. Throughout my experience on The Bachelor, the most important thing I learned is that I can be my own rock and I can be completely content on my own, which I didn't really realize how strong I was until I had to be. What is something you learned about yourself through your experience on The Bachelor? And in my situation, I couldn't really share my pain with a lot of people, so I had to develop a strong backbone. And it really gave me a chance to practice gratitude. And for me, that is whenever I would start to feel pain and feel like life is closing in, I would just like to take a moment, stop everything I was doing and think about all the things that I could celebrate and be thankful for. Because what I learned is that it's all about your perspective and what you're choosing to focus on because I never wanted my pain to blind me from all of the other great things going on in my life. And it's truly all about perspective. Favorite memory? My favorite memory. If this is my favorite memory out of my whole life, this is hard because I have a lot of great memories, but I think more of an important memory would be I was really close with my grandmother. I'm Hannah Ann, and she was Carol Ann. I was named after her. Actually, I was named after both of my grandmothers, grandma Hannah and grandma Carol Ann. And she was about to die of colon cancer, and one of the things she wanted to do was to take me to Disney World. I think that's probably my favorite memory because we just had the best time together getting ice-cream, and Disney just takes you away from reality. I really appreciate that memory with her because it taught me that never to take life for granted, take a day for granted, to always just make it a priority to let the people you know how much they mean to you because life is way too short. Favorite place? My favorite place would have to be Rome, Italy. I was able to study there back in high school a long time ago, but I was able to study in Rome art, and it was just an amazing experience. I fell in love with the people and culture and food. This girl can eat some carbs, but I loved it over there and it's definitely my favorite place, and I hope to go back.

Do you have any beauty rituals you can share with us? Beauty rituals. I would have to say they're cliche but so important. It would be to drink enough water, to take good care of your skin and to get plenty of beauty sleep. For me, sleep, I try to get 8 to 10 hours a night. I sometimes will have trouble going to sleep just winding down, so I try to put my phone up, turn the TV off 10 minutes before bed. I love taking melatonin. Right now I am hooked on Olly gummies. They're this great flavor. It's so good. And it does the work. For skin, always wash your face with a washcloth. Don't try to pick out your acne. And then, with water, I try to drink a gallon a day. Water makes a huge difference. It not only controls your appetite, but it helps with your skin. You can go out and put all these different products on your face to hydrate, but it comes down to just drinking enough water. Favorite meal? My favorite meal would have to be grandma Hannah's monster chicken. Monster chicken is a family recipe. I can't tell you the secret ingredient, but I will say that it involves chicken being soaked in buttermilk. It's so good. It's actually what she makes me every year for my birthday and, honestly, for my other siblings too. We love it, and we like it with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans. What would you like to be remembered for? What would I like to be remembered for? This is a deep question, but it's simple. I would want to be remembered by someone that is always encouraging other people to be their best, most authentic self. I always want to be someone's cheerleader and truly just be a good listener and encourager. What do you like to do in your spare time? What do I do in my spare time? I never get bored. I just feel like I have so many different hobbies. Right now I'm training for a half marathon, and that's taking up my time. I love to run. I love art. I love painting. I really enjoy cooking. I grew up in the South, and so all these meals are on the unhealthier side. So being on the West coast and being quarantined, I've been trying to take my Southern recipes that I love that I enjoy eating and putting a healthier twist on them, so trying out and creating new recipes is something else that I love to do.

What do you love most about Modeliste Magazine? I love Modeliste Magazine because it showcases a variety of women from all different backgrounds. I truly have looked up to so many of the women that have been on the cover, and it's just always maintained such a great reputation, and I love the collaboration of style and fashion. It's a magazine that's constantly moving forward, and I'm just so happy to be part of it. Something I like to say to my fans. It's crazy to think that I have fans. It's been unbelievable the amount of support I've been given. Just knowing that there are people out there in the world that follow me and support me, it truly gives me that extra encouragement to continue to put myself out there and to try new things. They truly are my friends and I support them too. And I appreciate every kind comment and uplifting message. It truly just makes the world of a difference, and it truly has shown me just how powerful and important words are. And I think we need to be each other's fans and champion one another.

Once upon a time, on a magical island... Two free-spirited and lively ladies created an invention essential to the daily lives of girls. The island was Manhattan, and the invention was called the Mumu. This is where their story begins... Brunette and Blonde besties, Cammy and Cologne, packed up their UC Berkeley college closets and moved to NYC to live out their big city dreams. Cammy was born on the bayou in New Orleans, while Cologne was a Newport Beach bred mermaid, however both found themselves working in fashion. They quickly learned a thing or two about the fast-paced creative business, and it’s perks— free clothes! (small salary). However, there was something clearly missing. They needed that one versatile piece they could wear almost anywhere.

“ Life is fun, your clothes should be too! ” that function more like family than a brand. Together the Mumu girls have grown the company exponetially, working and often times living together, they celebrate each others milestones, support each other through the highs and lows, and always have each other’s backs. What started out as a crazy idea, has evolved into so much more than just making Mumus-- it’s also about girls supporting girls, and lifting each other up. Mumu has remained passionate about bringing customers quality pieces that are unique, special and ethically made. Mumu is proud to produce 80% of pieces in the USA, employing over 80% women, our clothes are made with care and never mass produced. Cammy and Cologne were constantly buying shirts and tops in sizes much larger than they wore, stretch out the neck and throw on to become the ideal comfy yet cute mumuesque dress. However, as many tops that they stretched and dresses that they cut, they could not find the ideal fit. It needed to be flowey and short, flattering and femine, but sexy at the same time. It wasn’t until the girls went on a spontaneous weekend trip to Miami, with only their purses to pack, did they realize what needed to be done. Once they set their sights on making Mumus, they could not stop talking about it. That night, a dear and lifelong bff was informed of the two ladies’ brilliant and crucial invention. Naturally, he exclaimed “ Reinventing the mumu?! I love it! Show me your Mumu! ” And there it was, sparkling and clear. The girls knew that name was going to stick. Back in NYC, the girls decided to turn their Mumu day dreams into a reality. Still holding down full time jobs, Cammy and Cologne worked tirelessly— starting the company from scratch. Back in NYC, the girls decided to turn their Mumu day dreams into a reality. Still holding down full time jobs, Cammy and Cologne worked tirelessly— starting the company from scratch. With little money or resources and using Craiglist as their HR, they found a Patternmaker, web designer, and production source. Their tiny Nolita apartment was transformed into a design and warehouse shipping department, storing Mumus and supplies anywhere they could including their oven. The TV became a clothing rack, their nights became design meetings and they used their lunch breaks to fabric hunt in the garment district. The girls hustle paid off and in a few short months they had their first Mumu’s in hand. Fast forward— 1 cross country move, 6 office spaces, multiple product categories, and dozens of collections later, Show Me Your Mumu has evolved into so much more. Although the days of dancing all night and shipping out of their tiny NYC apartment all day have gone, the heart and spirit of Mumu remains the same. Nearly ten years since moving to Los Angeles, Cammy + Cologne have created a true lifestyle brand and an army of real #mumugirls

Throughout this wild ride, Cammy and Cologne have welcomed their customers to come along on the adventure and join in on the fun. Mumu strives to have a special connection with it’s customers by remaining approachable and real. Nobody has encouraged them and inspired them more than you, the real life mumu girls from all across the globe that bring Mumu clothes to life! Mumu believes that every girl can be a #Mumugirl and live the Mumu lifestyle. The Mumu motto is

GIVE YOUR SKIN SOME HOMEMADE TLC

with These Easy To Follow Beauty Tips.

William Schweitzer, MD, FAAD ProDerm Image Cosmetic and Regenerative Dermatology 960 South Westlake Blvd., Suite 208 Westlake Village, CA 91361 805-379-5970

hese days, most of us are spending much time indoors with only a few necessary trips to the market to re-stock on necessary essentials. Treating your skin to a fabulous face mask that will keep your skin looking healthy and beautiful does not require a trip to the spa. You probably already have some simple ingredients available in your pantry that you can utilize to give your skin a nice boost. Not everything you have available in your kitchen or pantry is safe for your skin. Board certified dermatologist Dr. William Schweitzer explains that “if you have specific allergies to certain ingredients or preservatives it is best to stay away from them even while using them topically.” Also, some natural edible ingredients contain strong peptides that can make your skin sensitive to light and can cause your skin to hyperpigment when exposed to sun light. “Start with a simple combination of two or at most three ingredients and over time you can add ingredients to your formula” Dr. Schweitzer comments.

THE BANANA MAMA This gentle mask is perfect for all skin types and the ingredients will combine to give your skin a healthy and natural glow.

THE TRES LECHES MASK

depleting elements such as the sun, harsh winds, low humidity, alcohol, and prolonged baths.

This mask is rich in lactic acid which will give your skin a beautiful glow. The longer you leave the mask on the brighter the glow!

Your diet plays a large role in promoting your skin’s ability to maintain its natural moisture. Include foods that are rich in essential fatty acids which are commonly found in salmon, flax seeds, walnuts, and olive oil. A healthy diet that includes three to five servings a week of these essential fatty acids will aid in reducing red, flaky, dry skin. Include some Chia in your diet. These wonderful seeds contain high levels of Omega-3 which your body needs but it does not produce. Omega-3's help keep skin hydrated. Chia seeds are hydrophilic, absorbing more than 10 times their weight

Into a bowl combine 4 tablespoons of buttermilk, 2 tablespoons of yogurt and 2 tablespoons of dry milk. Apply onto clean skin and leave on for 30-45 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser.

Mash half of a banana into a bowl. Add one tablespoon of honey and one tablespoon of plain yogurt. Combine well and apply to clean skin. Leave on for 20 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water.

PROTECT FROM HARMFUL UV RAYS

THE SMOOTHY MASK

Don’t forget your neck, chest, and hands! Chances are you are applying sunscreen to your face on a daily basis but neglecting your neck, chest, and hands. The neck, chest, and hands are also exposed to the sun and at risk of premature aging and skin cancer. Even if your face looks youthful, your neck, chest, and hands could be an age giveaway.

This mask contains strawberries which naturally contain salicylic acid and it will benefit oily, acne prone skin. Add into a blender a handful of strawberries, one tablespoon of turmeric and one tablespoon of honey. Blend and pour into a bowl. Add two tablespoons of oatmeal and combine. Apply this chunky mask to clean skin and leave on for 20 to 25 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.

Wear sunscreen daily. There are plenty of sunscreens available but the right kind of sunscreen can effectively protect your skin from the damaging UV rays. Choose a sunscreen that has an SPF of 30 or higher and contains titanium dioxide, zinc, mexoryl SX, avobenzone. These ingredients provide excellent sun protection and are not absorbed into the skin.

HYDRATION The moisture in your skin can be preserved by avoiding the use of harsh soaps that can strip away natural oils. Use instead a mild, non-abrasive, alcohol free cleanser. Minimize your exposure to moisture in water.

20 Questions with Bridget Bahl

How do you spend the first thirty minutes of your day? I have a glass of hot water with lemon, read and count my blessings. What is your everyday skincare routine? Morning is: Colleen Rothschild Cleansing Balm, Pixi Glow Tonic Toner, iS Clinical Active Serum, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Lotion, Lancôme UV Expert Primer & Moisturizer SPF 50 Night is: Dermalogica pre-cleanse, Dermalogica Microfoliant, Erno Laszlo Lotion Hydrate Toner, Joanna Vargas Rescue Serum (for vitamin c), SkinCeuticals A.G.E. Eye Complex and It Cosmetics Confidence in a gel lotion. What have you been doing to incorporate "self-care" into your time at home? The gym in my building is closed and it’s hard to get out in NYC! I have been walking 60 flights of stairs in the emergency stairwell of my building 5 days a week! Where do you get your beauty products? Sephora, The Derm Store, Peach and Lily. How often do you try new products? Almost every single day I try something new. I get a lot of samples and feel like it’s the best way to know the market! What qualities do you look for in skincare? Active ingredients and a good price. What are five beauty products you cannot live without? Joanna Vargas Rescue Serum, Dermalogica Microfoliant, Saint Tropez Express Tanning Mousse, It Cosmetics Bye-Bye Undereye Illuminating Concealer and YSL. Give us a 5 minute skincare/makeup strategy for your next Zoom meeting or date. Hair in a bun, but add earrings, lipstick and brush up your brows to look put together! What are your tips and tricks to keeping healthy, clear skin? Now that we are staying home, I try to go without makeup a few days a week. I also try not to use self tanner on my face and just match my face with makeup when I need to. Also, I exercise, drink lots of water, get at least 9 hours of sleep and use SPF every day! 68 JUNE 2020 | MODELISTE

Do you have any other beauty hacks you can share with us? I spray hairspray on my neck after my makeup if I’m wearing something white. It really helps prevent the transfer. Can you share a recipe with us that you enjoy making at home? Lychee Martinis- they’re so easy. Over ice in a shaker, add a tiny splash of extra dry vermouth, one shot of vodka (I like Grey Goose), and one shot of lychee juice. Shake over ice and pour into chilled martini glass. Add a lychee fruit and enjoy. What is your favorite fashion trend right now? Sweatpants with everything! What are three staple pieces in your closet you cannot live without? My ReDone Jeans, Isabel Marant White Blazer and my vintage Chanel mini chain belt bag! Are you working on any exciting projects this year? Hopefully an official launch for my brand, The Bar. Where do you live and what do you enjoy spending most of your time doing? I live in Manhattan. I love brunch on the weekends, working out, weekend trips to Gurney’s, hanging out with my girlfriend’s and my boyfriend, and recently since COVID-19… Netflix and wine! How did you start your career as an Influencer? I started my blog after a break-up of a sevenyear relationship. I was a mess listening to Taylor Swift every night and crying tears into my Pinot Grigio. My blog served as a break- up journal and it turned out to be very relatable! How do you stay up to date with new fashion trends and beauty hacks? I watch a lot of influencers who are super raw and real. I’m also not afraid to try new things.

The first part of the day is one of the few aspects of life in quarantine that still bears a strong resemblance to what it used to look like for me, which is to just to say…iced coffee. Although caffeine is an addiction that’s obviously shared by many of us, I’ve come to realize that my dependency is on a different level. Prior to becoming an influencer, I used to work as a producer and reporter. While shooting in primitive or remote parts of the world, I’d gesture/ barter/talk in tongues to secure, like, a cup of cold coffee with dead bugs floating at the surface. Regardless of where I am, or what’s happening around me, I start the day with a jolt of caffeine because it just gives me a sense of normalcy. What is your everyday skincare routine? As a makeup junkie, I’ve shaved years off my life just perusing the aisles of Sephora, so you’d think I’d adhere to a meticulously applied, in-depth skincare routine, as well. Until about two years ago, though, I didn’t even own a daily moisturizer. I know -- do as I say, not as I do – trust me. In getting older and wiser (better late than never, right?), and while collaborating with Olay on a couple of impactful projects, I began to incorporate their Regenerist Whip and Ultimate Eye Cream into my daily schedule. In addition to those two products, and in accordance with what I believe my skin is jonesing for at any given time, I’ve integrated masks, toners and brightening serums into my routine as well. With respect to everyday use, though, I keep it simple and opt for moisturizer and eye cream. What have you been doing to incorporate "self-care" into your time at home? I wish I could report that I’m the type of person who meditates in the morning, eats super cleanly and does at home workouts on my yoga mat. While I’m trying to incorporate healthier habits and outlets into my life, candidly, I’m not there yet. Aside from setting aside time to pray and to align myself with God (my spiritual relationship has always been extremely important to me), my version of self-care includes working to build out new digital media platforms that I’m passionate about launching, planning/ preparing my content in advance, and organizing my apartment. Last weekend, I attended a virtual cocktail party with my girlfriends which was very therapeutic. 74 JUNE 2020 | MODELISTE

Where do you get your beauty products? I get most of my beauty products at Sephora, Bloomingdales (they have a MAC counter, which Sephora doesn’t), CVS and Net-aPorter. How often do you try new products? One of the perks of being a fashion and lifestyle blogger is that brands send out a great deal of gifting, so although I get to try out new products regularly, I’m also a creature of habit. That said, unless something really jumps out at me, I tend to stick to what I know works for me. What qualities do you look for in skincare? With respect to skincare, my primary objective is to ensure that the products I’m using contain high-quality ingredients. At this point in my life, I’m interested in options that keep my skin hydrated, contain antiaging properties and brighten my [often] dull, dehydrated complexion. What are three beauty products you cannot live without? Oh God, only three?! I wish I was that girl, but I’m so not that girl. Okay, well, if I had to choose, I’d say a medium brown brow pencil (with a spoolie on the opposite end), Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, and Pixi-E Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel. Give us a 5 minute skincare/makeup strategy for your next Zoom meeting or date. My quarantine comfort zone falls somewhere between hot mess and full glam. As a general rule of thumb, though, I try to ensure that I look, at least, somewhat put together. To prep for a zoom call in five minutes or less, I start by moisturizing my face, as it helps the makeup to better emulsify into the skin. From there, I apply a light coat of foundation, run a pencil through my brows, put a bit of bronzer onto the areas where the sun hits my face, and use the Cover FX highlighter in “Moonlight” on my cheekbones. What are you tips and tricks to keeping healthy, clear skin? Regardless of what state I’m in, I force myself to wash my makeup off every night. Also, prior to getting married, I began to see Ildi Pekar, who’s a truly incredible esthetician, about two or three times a year. Her work gives my skin a reset and I always walk out of there inspired to drink more water.

Do you have any other beauty hacks you can share with us? In order to feel my best, I swear by a good spray tan. While in quarantine, I’ve been using the Josie Maran self-tanning oil, which can be applied at home with a mit. In addition, Derma E’s Restoring Shampoo & Conditioner makes me feel like I’ve gone to the salon when I haven’t. Can you share a recipe with us that you enjoy making at home? Well, I learned how to make macaroni and cheese during my first week of quarantine, so let me know if you’re interested in that. What is your favorite fashion trend right now? Given the circumstances, I’m very into comfortable bralettes right now (Think Katie Holmes in that brown wool with the matching cardigan). Ordinarily, I probably would’ve paired mine with denim, heels, and a blazer, but since I’ve been working from home, I’ve been rocking the look with sweats, biker shorts, and/or my husband’s [oversized] button-ups. Who are your top three favorite designers? For editorial and artistic inspiration, Dior and the Row. As a more attainable option, I like Tibi – it’s an out of the box conservative that’s crafted by a genius. What are three staple pieces in your closet you cannot live without? Well-fitted, light denim jeans, a slightly oversized beige or white silk blouse, and a navy blue blazer with strong shoulders. What advice do you have for keeping organized while staying busy? For most of my life, I’ve actually been sort of a mess. In running my own business, though, I’ve found that it’s imperative to keep To-Do lists (If you struggle with finding these to be effective, look up Tony Robbins’ RPM Method – it’s a game changer), ensure that my apartment is clean/organized, and update my calendar every day. Are you working on any exciting projects this year? I am! I’m in the process of building out a couple of new platforms that will allow me to engage with my followers in a more personal, impactful and entertaining way. Although I enjoy styling outfits and taking street-style photos, I’ve always felt that my skill-set was more conducive to other mediums, so I’m hoping to establish a different dialogue.

MODELISTE | JUNE 2020 75

Where do you live and what do you enjoy spending most of your time doing? I live in New York City. Aside from spending time with my husband, family and friends, I like to work, write, shop, travel, talk and utilize resources (sermons, podcasts, books) to enhance my spiritual connection. How did you start your career as an influencer? Although I enjoyed my previous work as a reporter and producer, I started to feel creatively stifled when the company I worked for underwent a restructure. Instead of continuing to put a hundred percent of my energy into broadcasting, I began to focus on my other passions. Although I continued to work full-time for awhile, I bought a used camera at a store on Ninth Avenue and hired my dog walker to take photos of me on the weekends. When I left my job, I still didn’t believe that I could realistically make a living as a blogger, but in the midst of interviewing for other broadcast media positions, an agency reached out to me and I decided to give it a shot. How do you develop inspiration and ideas for the great content you create? I derive most of my inspiration from other every day women, different cultures that I’ve been fortunate enough to explore firsthand, as well as editorial spreads, editors, bloggers, etc. How do you stay up to date with new fashion trends and beauty hacks? I don’t. Once in a while, especially during Fashion Week, I browse through fashion magazines to see what’s happening on the runway, but for the most part, my personal style is a reflection of the past. When I incorporate something new and trendy into my wardrobe, I probably discovered it while perusing Instagram – again, I garner most of my inspiration from everyday women.

20 Questions with Danielle Lombard

How do you spend the first thirty minutes of your day? I usually wake up, drink a glass of water and begin my workout routine! I've been following Chloe Ting's Summer Body Challenge Program and I love starting my day moving around so I stay energized throughout the day. What is your everyday skincare routine? My go-to skincare routine changed this last week as I tried the Obagi Blue Brilliance Triple Acid Peel. My skin was peeling for the last week, a little splotchy but today was the first day where I looked in the mirror and said WOW! It looks super fresh...like a baby's bottom! Haha! What have you been doing to incorporate "self-care" into your time at home? I think this whole quarantine period has been centered around self-care. I've been spending more efforts trying to improve my diet, exercise regularly, read and meditate! Where do you get your beauty products? Most of my beauty products come from Sephora or Revolve Beauty! I've also been lucky to receive gifting from PR companies through my manager at Socialyte. How often do you try new products? Every season I like to introduce some new skincare products into my regimen. Sometimes it's just a single product, other times it's a complete skincare line. With new products I like to give them a two week period to see results! What qualities do you look for in skincare? This year I put a heavy emphasis on clean beauty and sustainable brands! That's why I really love Derma E products. Most of the time we don't need all the chemical additives found in other skincare lines. What are three beauty products you cannot live without? Everyone needs a good clay mask and Pixi Beauty's Glow Mud Masks is AMAZING! I love using it when I feel like I'm getting breakouts (usually around that time of the month or when I've been traveling a lot in humid climates), BITE Beauty Agave Lip Mask - I use it as chapstick and It tastes and smells incredible, and lastly Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.

80 JUNE 2020 | MODELISTE

Give us a 5 minute skincare/makeup strategy for your next Zoom meeting or date. Moisturize with a good hydrating cream like, Derma E Vitamin C Renewing Moisturizer; Dermalogica C Brightening Boost Eye Gel; Benefit Ka-Brow Gel; Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara; Stila Convertible Color blush, BITE Agave Lip Mask and your favorite lip stick. BOOM. Ready for my closeup! What are you tips and tricks to keeping healthy, clear skin? Wash your face! Use a gentle cleanser in the morning and at night, be sure to use an oil cleanser to remove any makeup, oil or impurities and follow it with a nice foaming cleanser. Oftentimes, our skin isn't clear of products and impurities which prevents our skincare products from being able to absorb into our skin. So be sure you are cleansing properly! I also keep Exfolikate by Kate Sommerville in my shower and I use it 2-3 xs per week Do you have any other beauty hacks you can share with us? Being someone who travels a lot, I usually try to consolidate my makeup bag and use items that are versatile. I love NYX sticks that I can use for blush and lip color, using mascara as a liquid/gel eyeliner and concealer that you can use for contour and eyeshadow primer! I'm also a big fan of mixing a BB cream with foundation, for a softer, more natural finish. What is your favorite fashion trend right now? All about that cozy chic vibe at the moment! Who are your top three favorite designers? Alexander Wang, Ronny Kobo and Amina Muaddi! What are three staple pieces in your closet you cannot live without? High Waisted Denim, a Bomber Jacket and Black Strappy Heels. What advice do you have for keeping organized while staying busy? Most of my friends know, but I am super OCD. I guess it's in my nature...*shoutout fellow Capricorns*. For those who struggle, get a planner! Write down your schedule and be realistic of your expectations throughout the day. I also love to write To-Do lists! Before I go to bed, I keep my planner and a notepad on my nightstand and I highlight the things I was able to complete and I write a list of the things I'd like to get done the next day.

Can you share a recipe with us that you enjoy making at home? I have been whipping up so much stuff in the kitchen lately! Haha! If you'd like some recipes feel free to check out my Instagram and TikTok @daniellellombard Are you working on any exciting projects this year? Well, I'm finally getting around to finishing my blog! What an epic journey! Haha! Aside from that, I have been working on a product line! Think functional fragrances for women, and a company that is all about empowering and lifting other women up! It's still in the early stages, but hopefully it will be done by the end of the year! There's been some delays as factories have ceased production for certain non-essential products in lieu of all the COVID-19 cases. Where do you live and what do you enjoy spending most of your time doing? Danielle Lombard: Technically, I live in LA - but I'm really closer to South Pasadena. My neighborhood is quiet, secluded and has a real sense of community which I love. I spend most of my time running the trails near my house and staying at home, getting work done and cooking! I'm always testing out new recipes. How did you start your career as an influencer? My career as an influencer started when I was with a modeling agency after college. We were one of the first Eurasian Talent Agencies and we were encouraged to start promoting ourselves on Social Media. Early days, I was an "import" model and worked for Hot Import Nights (toured the US and Asia) and worked for Hankook Tires as a Formula Drift Umbrella Girl. My fan base grew from there, and shortly after I was on ABC's The Bachelor. I didn't really know what to expect afterwards, but I'm trying to use this platform as best as I can to encourage and promote a sense of community among women and to share my thoughts and advice for future/fellow entrepreneurs, beauty lovers and foodies! How do you develop inspiration and ideas for the great content you create? Following other creatives is always really helpful for me. I like to create mood boards on Pinterest and compile photos from all sorts of creatives - photographers, models, influencers, painters, makeup artists and hair stylists! Tons of food photos too for recipe inspo. YUM! How do you stay up to date with new fashion trends and beauty hacks? Instagram is honestly such an amazing platform. I always get the best fashion trends and beauty hacks from people I follow from all different parts of the world.

20 Questions with Júlia Muniz

How do you spend the first thirty minutes of your day? When I have work early in the morning, I usually stretch and meditate for at least 10 min, then I wash my face with a fresh cleanser, use a jade roller to de-puff my face and proceed with my skincare routine. Next, I make a super food smoothie (including all my adaptogen powders and vitamins) for breakfast and head to work. I've been using Pixi Glow Mist through the day to keep my skin fresh and glowing. I think it is very important to create beauty from inside out, starting from how we nourish our bodies. When I don't have to work, I do yoga first thing in the morning for at least 40 minutes, meditate, have breakfast and have a looong skincare routine. I love to use face masks on my free days. What is your everyday skincare routine? Cleanse with ''Dewyer'' spirulina cleanser, exfoliate with Derma-E microdermabrasion scrub, eye serum from endota spa, then I'll apply a serum OR oil all over my face, massaging with a jade roller. I switch between serum or oil depending on where in the world I am and how dry/oily my skin feels. If I have acne, I'll also apply a medicated cream on acne spots. What have you been doing to incorporate "self-care" into your time at home? During this quarantine I've put as a goal to connect with myself and take care of my mind and body. I find that when I exercise and take care of my skin/hair I immediately feel better and start my day with a new perspective. Meditating brings me peace and helps me to stay calm through all of what's happening in the world. Where do you get your beauty products? I usually shop online (Sephora, Revolve etc.) I frequent skincare spas pretty often and love to explore their lines as well. How often do you try new products? Very often. I'm always switching between creams/serums as I find that my skin gets 'used' to a product when using too often. What qualities do you look for in skincare? Effective, vegan, natural and quality ingredients. I do deal a lot with acne and need to use medicated products sometimes (which are not natural) but I try to support sustainable companies. 98 JUNE 2020 | MODELISTE

What are three beauty products you cannot live without? Essential oils (for hair and skin), lip balm and sunscreen (I'm always outside, surfing or tanning).

What advice do you have for keeping organized while staying busy? I like to set a goal for the day writing down in a piece of paper and checking through the day.

Give us a 5 minute skincare/makeup strategy for your next Zoom meeting or date. Exfoliating your face makes your skin tone look way more even, and photographs really well (you will look amazing for your zoom meeting/date). I have dark under eyes, so I apply an eye serum + Concealer. I use a face oil on my cheekbones and a tiny bit on the tip of my nose - which will give you a natural highlight and contour your face. Keep your lips hydrated with a lip balm and apply a glow mist all over your face and neck.

Are you working on any exciting projects this year? I'm re-launching my youtube channel, designing a sustainable swim line and brainstorming charity ideas. My dream is to create a NGO to support people from my country who are in need (Brazil).

What are you tips and tricks to keeping healthy, clear skin? Eating whole foods and using good quality skincare. Beauty really comes from inside, and since I've switched to a plant based diet my skin and hair looks so much better. Do you have any other beauty hacks you can share with us? Once a week I do a homemade face mask using fruits + aloe vera gel. Aloe vera gel is natural, I make my own from the aloe leaf. The gel is very powerful, reduces inflammation and helps with hydration. I add this gel to my face and hair masks. Can you share a recipe with us that you enjoy making at home? • Recipe for Face Mask: 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds + 3 tbsp water. let them soak for 15 min and apply over your face. • Food Recipe: brownie (vegan,gf) : 5 tbsp coconut oil + 4tbsp cacao powder + 2 chia/ flax eggs + 2 tbsp maple syrup + dark chocolate chips. Preheat the oven to 350, and leave for 18 min. What is your favorite fashion trend right now? I love vintage pieces, bodysuits and blazers. Who are your top three favorite designers? I feel like there are so many amazing designers nowadays. My favorites are Coco Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld and Alexandre Vauthier. What are three staple pieces in your closet you cannot live without? Black bodysuits, Jeans and white sneakers.

Where do you live and what do you enjoy spending most of your time doing? I travel full time as a model and influencer, I usually have Hawaii and California as a base. I've been isolated in Western Australia, where my partner is from. We are having a great time here as there is lots of nature and free space. We are staying on a property by the river and it's amazing to do yoga/ meditate. We've been doing lots of baking and spending time together. How did you start your career as an influencer? I started sharing my life and adventures on Instagram. I love sports/diving, and I got invited to host a surfing tv show in Brazil where we traveled to Mexico for a month with 5 other girls, a surfing reality show. This brought me lots of exposure and people could see my personality. From there I decided to start modeling and traveling to produce content. How do you develop inspiration and ideas for the great content you create? I'm always connecting with like minded people, and usually my friends inspire me the most. I've been a lot into natural/organic skincare and lifestyle and I watch many documentaries on it. I love to learn and share information with my followers How do you stay up to date with new fashion trends and beauty hacks? Instagram helps me to stay up to date with new fashion trends. But I'm truly a believer of slow fashion. I love to support small business and emergent designers. I find most of my beauty hacks on youtube or instagram.

The next thing I do is, wake my daughter and feed her breakfast. What is your everyday skincare routine? I like to change my skincare routine up from day to day! 20 Questions with Madison Williams

How do you spend the first thirty minutes of your day? I’m really big on having a routine so how I spend my first 30 minutes really sets the tone for my whole day. As soon as I wake up, I jump right into my morning skincare routine, which these days is finished with a little gua sha sesh. From there, I sip on some lemon water and take my daily vitamin and a probiotic (has done wonders for my skin!). I wrap things up by making note of 3 things I’m grateful for before lighting a candle, making some coffee and opening up my emails. What is your everyday skincare routine? My skincare routine has seriously become a spiritual experience for me each day! LOL. Each day, I really look forward to my multi-step regime and it looks a little something like this: if I’m wearing makeup, I always start with cleansing balm. My absolute favorite is from Farmacy - I’ve probably gone through at least 10 jars! Next up, I cleanse. I keep it pretty simple with the brightening cleanser from Derma E. From there, in the mornings I do a vitamin C serum, and at night I swap for a retinol (loving the one from The Ordinary), lock it in with the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum, and the Innisfree Green Tea Moisturizer. I swap things out from time to time, but that’s been my quarantine lineup and honestly, my skin is living it’s best life right now. What have you been doing to incorporate "self-care" into your time at home? So many things! Quarantine has really taught me to slow down and I try to sneak in some self-care each day. At least once a week, I’ll use a hair mask (currently loving the ones from Not Your Mother’s). I’ve been face masking like crazy - and finally jumped on the eye patch train and have been loving the ones from Pixi. For the first time ever, I’ve also learned to do my own nails which kiiiiind of feels like a huge accomplishment! Aside from the fun beauty things though, self-care to me also means taking a walk everyday and getting some fresh air, sneaking in an at-home workout, FaceTiming my family + friends to check in, and finally learning to be ok with doing nothing at home. It’s really the little things! Where do you get your beauty products? For the most part, I’m a Sephora girl but definitely don’t discriminate when it comes to drugstore products as well. Love when I can score in the Target beauty aisle! 120 JUNE 2020 | MODELISTE

How often do you try new products? Skincare-wise, only a few times a year. I try to give things a solid 30 days to test out before making the call to keep it on the shelf or not! Hair-wise, I’m pretty low maintenance and mostly stick to my OGs like Matrix’s purple shampoo, Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, Ouai Wave Spray and that’s about it! What qualities do you look for in skincare? As clean as possible, please! No paraben or sulfates, and I try to stay away from silicones. What are three beauty products you cannot live without? Supergoop SPF, Glossier Boy Brow, Laneige Lip Mask. Give us a 5 minute skincare/makeup strategy for your next Zoom meeting or date. I’ve been keeping things super natural at home. I’d start with a dab of The Ordinary Squalane for a little glow, a touch of Hourglass concealer for under my eyes, a bit of bronzer and highlighter (both from Milk), mascara (not picky on the brand), Glossier Boy Brow and a pop of pink Pixi Naturellelip. I’ve got it down to about 4 minutes! What are you tips and tricks to keeping healthy, clear skin? Until recently, my skin really struggled after getting off of birth control. Finally (!!!) I feel like it’s back to normal but it took a lot of hard work. I cut out dairy, gluten and sugar (ok, maybe 90%...you gotta live your life!), swap my pillow cases every other night, wash my makeup brushes each week, drink a ton of water, and try to avoid touching it as much as possible! It sounds like a LOT, but honestly for me, it was just about forming good habits! Do you have any other beauty hacks you can share with us? Oh yes! After I cleanse my face, I LOVE to take an ice cube and roll it over for a few seconds before I apply my serums. It’s amazing for your pores and just feels really good! Can you share a recipe with us that you enjoy making at home? Hate to admit it, but I totally jumped on the quarantine banana bread bandwagon. It’s vegan + gluten free and I add chocolate chips and coconut and it’s incredible!! Who are your top three favorite designers? Currently: Jacquemus, Cult Gaia and forever Giambattista Valli.

What is your favorite fashion trend right now? Bold colors (love me a pink x orange color combo), halter tops (I find them so flattering on every body type!) and smaller sunnies (that are also like, wearable!). What are three staple pieces in your closet you cannot live without? I live in biker shorts so definitely those. An oversized blazer. And I splurged on a pair of chunky Gucci boots last season that I have zero regrets with because I wear them constantly. What advice do you have for keeping organized while staying busy? Call me old school but I LOVE a to-do list. I also try to manage my day but dedicating a certain amount of time to things. Take emails for example - I try to only answer from 9-11am and pick back up later in the afternoon. Otherwise, I would literally be responding all day long and would get nothing else done! Are you working on any exciting projects this year? Yes! Aside from the shows I’ll be producing, I’m launching a capsule collection this summer that I’m super excited about! Stay tuned!! Where do you live and what do you enjoy spending most of your time doing? I’ve been living in Los Angeles for almost 13 years and spend my time as a TV Producer, Blogger and sometimes host! How did you start your career as an influencer? I was writing and producing the fashion for E!’s Red Carpet shows, working with designers and talking trends, and decided to start Minimal Major as a creative outlet to write about more everyday fashion. Fast forward a few years and it’s become a second full-time job! I’m super grateful. It’s allowed me to connect with so many incredible people and has really taught me how to run my own business! It fulfills me in an entirely different way that producing does. How do you develop inspiration and ideas for the great content you create? For so many years, it was part of my job to live and breathe Vogue Runway so most of my inspiration comes from past shows, or flipping through editorials. No matter what my inspo is though, I always make sure with everything I post it feels like “me”. How do you stay up to date with new fashion trends and beauty hacks? I love browsing Who What Wear and Byrdie, and I’m pretty sure I’ve read every article on Into The Gloss in terms of beauty hacks!

20 Questions with Monica Sors

How do you spend the first thirty minutes of your day? I'm not really a morning person so I need that moment only for me. First of all, I have my morning beauty routine and after that, I prepare myself a green tea and later a coffee. And then, I’m a person ;) What is your everyday skincare routine? Every morning I wash my face and I hydrate it with my H2O Skin Drink from Pixi. At night, the routine is more intensive: I carefully wash my face, some days I exfoliate it and then I use a serum, night cream and eye cream. What have you been doing to incorporate "self-care" into your time at home? I have been exercising every morning and sometimes also in the afternoon and I ordered a led lights mask that leaves my skin glowing and renovated as when I go to the beauty center. Where do you get your beauty products? I order most of them online and also I’m very lucky because a lot of brands that I love are sending their beauty products for me to try them at home. That's one of the coolest points of my job as an Influencer!

What are three beauty products you cannot live without? Sunscreen (now I’m using Derma E Sun Defense Mineral Oil Free Sunscreen), bronze powder and lip balm.

Where do you live and what do you enjoy spending most of your time doing? I live between Spain and the USA. Now I’m in Madrid but hopefully I will be in LA for a few months.

What are you tips and tricks to keeping healthy, clear skin? Just following my morning and night routine and protecting it from the sun. I also love facial massages.

How did you start your career as an influencer? It all started in 2010 when I created my fashion blog www.mesvoyagesaparis.com and later the brands started contacting me for collaborations, then arrived Instagram… in my case, everything was so natural. When I started, the word Influencer didn’t exist and nowadays I still prefer to call myself content creator.

Do you have any other beauty hacks you can share with us? Eat your greens, baby. Eating healthy is the key to having perfect skin. Can you share a recipe with us that you enjoy making at home? Sure! I love making oats pancakes. You just need oatmeal, 1 banana, oat milk and some butter. You will mix the oatmeal, oat milk and the banana and then heat the pan, add a little bit of butter and add some quantity of the mix into it. Spread the mixture creating a circle, using a spoon, leave for half a minute and turn it around. Leave for another half minute. Ready to serve! Add some toppings such as red fruits, grated coconut and a bit of agave syrup. Who are your top three favorite designers? Pierpaolo Piccioli (creative director of Maison Valentino), Isabel Marant and always and forever the talented Karl Lagerfeld.

How often do you try new products? I receive new products every week but I prefer to finish the ones I’m using at the moment and then I’ll try the new arrivals.

What is your favorite fashion trend right now? Puff sleeves! I love tops, dresses… everything with them.

What qualities do you look for in skincare? I love using products that are mainly made with natural ingredients. And of course, I look for the specific results I’m looking for in that product.

What are three staple pieces in your closet you cannot live without? Jeans, a cool sweater and a maxi dress.

Give us a 5 minute skincare/makeup strategy for your next Zoom meeting or date. Carefully wash your face alternating cold and hot water to activate blood circulation. Then use a facial toner. Use a specific serum according to your skin needs. Next, use your daily cream and eye cream. When all the products have been absorbed, apply sunscreen. Your skin is ready for a simple but perfect make up: foundation if you need it, some bronze powder and blush, a bit of highlighter, mascara and lip balm. Your skin will be radiant.

128 JUNE 2020 | MODELISTE

What advice do you have for keeping organized while staying busy? Write everything down in your agenda and try to accomplish every point for that day. But if at the end of the day you couldn’t, don’t blame yourself. Just pass the remaining points to the next day. And always have in mind the top priorities for each day. Are you working on any exciting projects this year? Yeah! Some of them have been canceled or postponed due to Coronavirus but fortunately we are working on some cool new projects that I can’t wait to share with everyone!

How do you develop inspiration and ideas for the great content you create? I’m a very observant and curious person so I receive inspiration from everything and everywhere, from magazines, to social media of course but also from the streets from my travels… How do you stay up to date with new fashion trends and beauty hacks? I think social media helps a lot. Now we have all the new information very fast. And magazines such as Modeliste are amazing because you guys know how to incorporate social media trends into paper. And as I’m all day using my phone and computer, I love having some moments to read in paper. I truly enjoy a lot doing it.

20 Questions with Naty Ashba

How do you spend the first thirty minutes of your day? The first 15 minutes of my morning dedicated to cuddle with my pug, then I get up and wash my face and brush my teeth! I use Pixi Vitamin C Sheet Mask ... and .... then I turn on music and jump in the shower. What is your everyday skincare routine? I start washing my face with Rose Cream Cleanser by Pixi , then I apply Vitamin-C Caviar Balm also by Pixi and complete it with a 50 SPF moisturizer! I let my skin absorb it then I apply some bb cream and I’m ready to go. I always carry rose mist water to refresh during the day. (Try Rose Glow Mist by Pixi) What have you been doing to incorporate "self-care" into your time at home? I have always practiced self-care in my life, but these days I have been able to eat healthier and exercise more! I’ve been discovering new passions such as playing guitar and.... cleaning ??. I am always in a pretty good mood thanks to my pug. As crazy as it sounds pets are the best therapy for self-care. Where do you get your beauty products? I purchase most of my beauty products online. Sephora is my to go-to store. How often do you try new products? I enjoy testing new products and I do it quite often. I used to stick to the same beauty routine until I realized I was missing on so many great products! What qualities do you look for in skincare? What are three beauty products you cannot live without? Dry shampoo, Botanical serum by Leland Francis and the Rose Glow Mist by Pixi. What are you tips and tricks to keeping healthy, clear skin? I follow these rules religiously: 1. Never go to sleep with makeup on 2. Never go out without sunscreen 3. Change pillow folder every 2 days 4. Drink 8 glasses of water a day Not drinking or smoking is crucial too. 142 JUNE 2020 | MODELISTE

Give us a 5 minute skincare/makeup strategy for your next Zoom meeting or date. Wash your face with your favorite cleanser, then apply a serum and a moisturizing cream. Apply concealer under the eye area and in any other imperfection. Set it with an illuminating powder. That’s your base! For contour and highlight I use Charlotte Tilbury bronze & glow contour duo palette. Winged eyeliner, some Pix black mascara and finally, Rose Glow mist by Pixi to set the natural makeup look. Do you have any other beauty hacks you can share with us? Definitely avoid wearing foundation everyday, the less makeup you apply the more your skin can breathe. Use at least one vitamin C product every morning, I use Vitamin-C Caviar Balm by Pixi. Also, avoid as much as possible sodas and deep fried foods. Can you share a recipe with us that you enjoy making at home? I’m obsessed with homemade soft tacos! You just need: Pulled rotisserie chicken, salsa verde, chopped onions, cilantro and soft tacos. Heat the chicken and the salsa verde, add 2 spoons to each taco and top with some onions and chopped cilantro. Low calorie and delicious! I can eat up to 5 in one time. Who are your top three favorite designers? Bottega Veneta, Alberta Ferretti and Givenchy. What is your favorite fashion trend right now? Boss pants! The wider the better. They’re comfy, classy and bossy! What are three staple pieces in your closet you cannot live without? A pair of white sneakers (or 2), a statement blazer, and a pair of grey oversized sweatpants. What advice do you have for keeping organized while staying busy? My best advice is to schedule your time, I used to work on several things at a time, I would get overwhelmed, and end up just wasting my time. Sticking to a routine has been working great for me, I dedicate mornings to work, afternoons to self-care and workout, and nights to cook with family and watch Netflix.

Are you working on any exciting projects this year? I had a few exciting projects before we got hit with this new reality. As of now, everything is put on hold till further notice. There’s nothing left to do other than stay calm and stay at home. Hopefully everything will come back to normality soon and we can keep on with our lives! Where do you live and what do you enjoy spending most of your time doing? I live in Vegas baby! I moved here from Rome, Italy, 8 years ago. Most of the time I’m traveling, but when I’m home, I truly enjoy cuddling and walking with my pug, Emilio. There’s always something fun happening in Vegas. I love trying new restaurants and once in a while I go to concerts and shows. How did you start your career as an influencer? I started back in 2013, when I just moved to the US. Because of immigration rules, I couldn’t work, drive, or leave the country. I only had a laptop and 3 languages. That’s how I started my blog “accordingtonaty.com”, just a fun way to communicate to the world while waiting for my freedom again! Later that year, I opened my YouTube channel, “ Naty Ashba”, I’ve always had so much fun interacting in front of a camera! Especially in my native language, Spanish. Instagram came along. As I was growing up, I realized it’s truly my passion to be able to connect with people and inspire in a positive way anytime I can. I feel like each one of us can do something to make this world a better place. How do you develop inspiration and ideas for the great content you create? I used to schedule so much content ahead of time and I started feeling demotivated. Like everything else, you need balance. It’s been a year since I live “by the day”. I only shoot content when I’m inspired and I don’t study it too much. It keeps me inspired to come up with good ideas. How do you stay up to date with new fashion trends and beauty hacks? I’m old school, I am a huge fan of fashion magazines! Vogue, Instyle, Grazia Italia and Modeliste Magazine are my favorite ones. I also don’t miss one Fashion Week :) It’s also very easy to stay up to date with social media nowadays! You can be always updated by following your favorite influencers!

20 Questions with Sonya Essman

How do you spend the first thirty minutes of your day? These days, every day begins very differently, but I’m doing my best to discipline myself and follow a routine or plan. When quarantine first began I was sleeping in until 3pm- but after a while, what was supposed to be a “break” and “relaxation”, began to feel like laziness and a conscious wasting of time. I naturally always wake up at 8am and call out for my cat to come to me. As soon as she hears that I’ve woken up, she runs to cuddle me. I’d be lying if I said that wasn’t the highlight of every morning. Then, I mentally map out the day's tasks, work on my website/whatever urgent job I have, take a warm shower, put on under eye patches, do my makeup and go into video-creation mode or begin whatever other plans I have for the day. My home is and always was my little sanctuary. I obsessively protect the energy in my home because I know how much my surroundings have an affect on my clarity, mental health and productivity. Burning Palo Santo, as cliche as it may sound, really does help me feel at peace at home. Anything I do to care for my home, is synonymous to an act of caring for myself. Also, letting myself rest when I feel like I’m drained, and going on a long walk at least once a day are key to self-care for me. Where do you get your beauty products? On Amazon... everything. Literally. I go down an Amazon rabbit hole at least twice a week. Ask me how I ended up with a wig collection! Haha! How often do you try new products? I’m pretty loyal to a couple products, only because I see a radical difference in my skin when I don’t have them on hand. Otherwise, I’m very experimental with makeup and beauty. Whenever I can get my hands on something new, I’ll try it, even if I believe it’s “not my style”, because you never know! Beauty and style are meant to be in constant evolution. 150 JUNE 2020 | MODELISTE

What qualities do you look for in skincare? Over the last few years I’ve definitely been gravitating towards skincare products that are more natural and contain less harsh chemicals. This is partially because I had such a terrible skin reaction to the lowest dose of Retin-A and other harsh chemicals and exfoliants, and also because I’ve noticed a pattern that natural, botanical products just work better for my skin. Another thing that really influences whether I want to buy a product is if a close friend recommends that I try something out because it made a huge difference in their skin. What are three beauty products you cannot live without? • Undereye patches to brighten & de-puff my eyes in the morning. My favorite right now is DetoxifEYE by Pixi. • My Nuface (an at-home microcurrent facial lifting device). I’ve been a die-hard fan of my Nuface for 3 years now because it does wonders to accentuate my bone structure and get rid of any facial swelling I may have in the mornings. • Lactic acid! My skin loves lactic acid for its resurfacing and brightening properties. Good Genes by Sunday Riley is a lactic acid product I’ve repurchased far too many times to count. What are you tips and tricks to keeping healthy, clear skin? Stay persistent to your skincare routine if you found one that works for you. If not, don’t give up. Keep experimenting, remove some products from your routine, add others if possible, keep interchanging at least one skincare product a month. And drop everything in your life that is stressing you out. Especially the fear of change. Stress releases cortisol, which can cause an overproduction of sebum and oil to form on your skin. And above all, we can all agree that happy people are the most beautiful people. Give us a 5 minute skincare/makeup strategy for your next Zoom meeting or date. If I only had five minutes to look good on camera, I would focus on looking “alive” but not excessive. First, I would apply a face oil or moisturizer to my clean skin. Then I would use GlamGlow’s GLOWSTARTER moisturizer as a base because it has a beautiful sheen to it that illuminates the skin. I would then use a concealer under my eyes, around my nose and around the hallows of my mouth and blend it in. I wouldn’t even need time for blush or eyeshadow because I would apply a lipliner to my lips, and then blend the excess product onto my eyelids and cheeks, which gives the face a rosey, natural color. If I had an extra 60 seconds, I would curl my lashes and apply a waterproof mascara to open up my eyes.

Do you have any other beauty hacks you can share with us? I love using lip liner as a blush and eyeshadow. It simplifies my day so much because instead of carrying around a makeup bag, I can just carry an under eye concealer and nude-pink lip liner such as Boldly Bare by Mac. I apply the lip liner all over my lips, using a little bit more product than typical, and then take some of the lip liner from my lips and run it over my eyelids and dab it on my cheeks. It creates such a beautiful, healthy look. Can you share a recipe with us that you enjoy making at home? To be perfectly honest, I’m the furthest thing from a cookbook encyclopedia. During my teenage years, I was eating raw vegan, so a lot of what I taught myself was how to “uncook” foods, dehydrate them, or rather, eat foods in their simplest form. Right now, my favorite meal to cook every evening is just a salad with anything and everything I can find in my fridge. My essentials are: • dinosaur kale • organic mixed greens • 1 whole avocado • cabbage, cucumbers, any other seasonal vegetable • turkey, chicken breast, or some type of protein • a handful of hemp seeds & pumpkin seeds • organic blue cheese dressing • hot sauce & half a lemon squeezed! I swear, it's bomb. What is your favorite fashion trend right now? My favorite fashion trend right now is probably head scarves. I was born in Russia, so wearing a scarf or bandana around your head was so normalized for religious and cultural reasons. I love how girls are rocking them now again. Who are your top three favorite designers? Enfants Riches Deprimes, For Love & Lemons and Celine. What are three staple pieces in your closet you cannot live without? My Dr. Martens loafers & platform boots. A vintage, oversized black mens blazer. Any black belt with embellishments that makes your outfit that much cooler- on high waist denim or even cinching your waist with a dress. My favorite one right now is from The Kooples.

MODELISTE | JUNE 2020 151

What advice do you have for keeping organized while staying busy? WRITE. IT. DOWN. I really don’t know where I would be, workwise or mental-health wise, if I didn’t use my planner to write down my ideas, thoughts, appointments, meetings and passwords/ random things. I also immediately enter a deadline or event into my iCal when I read about it, so when I know I have something due, I don't forget about it. You can also set several reminders on your iPhone in iCal, so I’ll set a reminder a day before and two days before. Like they say, “There’s a place for everything & everything has its place.” Are you working on any exciting projects this year? I’ll always live with the belief that something beautiful could happen any second. Of course, 2020 threw a curveball at a lot of exciting projects for all of us. But it also gave us time to reflect on why certain things just WORK and others- don’t, no matter how much you try. I definitely had my entire life flip upside-down this year, but reflecting on all of what’s happened, I am so grateful to all of it. I’m excited to reclaim myself, focus on connecting with the community I’ve grown, and make myself proud. Where do you live and what do you enjoy spending most of your time doing? Back when travel was a key component of my job, I used to say, “I live in terminal 1” Haha. Now I live between Los Angeles (where I moved) and Toronto (where I grew up). I feel beyond lucky to say that what I enjoy doing most is my job. I feel off if the sun begins to set and I haven’t been creative that day. Video creation, photography and painting in a peaceful state at home gives me the greatest feeling of fulfillment, along with connecting and sharing ideas with my subscribers and followers online. How did you start your career as an influencer? I started my career, originally aspiring to become an actress, as a background actor on a lot of TV shows & movies in Toronto. That progressed into me starting a YouTube channel (in 2007) about how to become an actress. I just shared the knowledge that was given to me in acting school with others using YouTube - which was an entirely new platform at the time. As I grew older, I started sharing little things on instagram and twitter in a very personal way. It was never “here are the latest trends”, rather it was “you guys! I found this stunning bag today when I went shopping at Forever 21, should I get it?” And “Here are some photos of me trying on a new lipstick.” It was always a hobby, and in many ways, I still see it that way. I would say things really kicked off for me when I attended my first NYFW in September 2014. 152 JUNE 2020 | MODELISTE

How do you develop inspiration and ideas for the great content you create? In terms of the content I create, the last thing I want is to be influenced by somebody else. So I watch and consume very little social media myself. My biggest drive to create comes from my own life experiences and allowing my emotions to flow. Sometimes a song I’m listening to on a night walk will hit me in the heart so much that I’ll stay up until morning editing footage that relates to the song in a way that tells a story. I try to convey my inner world through art and words. How do you stay up to date with new fashion trends and beauty hacks? I really don’t believe in doing anything in particular to stay on trend. Trends come and go so fast, by the time you’ve caught on, you’ll be stuck there wondering if you’re too late. I believe in being fearless in following your gut and expressing yourself. Authenticity will never be outdated.

WANDERLUST:

The intense longing to travel, to explore and discover, fulfill our desire for adventure, our need to learn, to connect, and to indulge our curiosity with a sense of joy and wonder. 160 JUNE 2020 | MODELISTE

love and appreciation of all that the travel experience offers and the emotional, spiritual, and physical need to seek out the beauty of nature, humanity, and the wonders of cultures around the world is a common bond of Modeliste Magazine staff and readers. In these heartbreaking and challenging times of Covid-19 across the world, we all are wondering when, and if, we will safely emerge to once again race through airports to board packed flights for amazing destinations. For now we are virtual travelers, revisiting our photos, enjoying travel, nature, and history documentaries, virtual museum and castle tours, walks through cities and quaint villages, some familiar and many stacked on our bucket lists. We walk virtually along beaches and hike or run well trodden paths with our guides, often while breathless on our home exercise machines. We journey through books and videos to far away times and places, opening our horizons and dreaming of ‘somedays’ when we may once again have actual travel adventures.

As travelers, we have unique connections across the globe. We feel a particular compassion and empathy remembering the faces and places we have shared as we watch the human toll rise and we grieve the loss. We worry about the health and safety of those who welcomed us, served our food, shared laughter and comradery, guided us and taught us. They are a part of our stories, ever in our thoughts and our prayers. Looking back at a winter of travel discoveries, Modeliste shares a lovely Lake Tahoe experience at family owned Cedar Crest Cottages. Tucked in a picturesque setting on Lake Tahoe’s west shore with easy access and stellar views, the Olson family has revisioned the 9 cottages from their hunting lounge 1930s origins into a collection of boutique vacation cottage getaways for couples, families and friends. Each of the cottages offer an inspired design and palette of color and decor, individual touches of whimsy, featuring luxury in 1 to 4 bedroom options open to the outdoors in all its splendor. Wood and stone elements, cozy furnishings and cheerful decor in spacious living and bedrooms with modern amenities of home including flat screen TV, WiFi, modern kitchens, washer and dryer. 164 JUNE 2020 | MODELISTE

The Olson family welcomes new and returning guests to a B&B style retreat in harmony with the natural surrounds. Cedar Crest has an idyllic location for all seasonal activities, only a short walk away from the lake shore, providing inviting connections to Emerald Bay boating and water sports, quaint Tahoe City with Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods and farmers’ markets, convenient dining at delis and restaurants, bike rentals and trails, and skiing nearby at Homewood Ski Resort. Looking forward to returning to the beautiful Cedar Crest Cottages, s’mores at the firepit, nights of endless stars and the unique sparkling turquoise waters of Lake Tahoe.

Your

HOROSCOPE

GEMINI

You need tostay open minded and alert to opportunities. A touch of travel and a training session are highly likely this month which will help to heighten your level of interest in a few old topics. Relationships with loved ones that have been light-hearted and fun, begin to seep into the depths of your heart and you’ll start to form a solid connection to them. If you appreciate the old and the loyal this month in all areas of your life, you’ll feel as if no one can knock you down

CANCER

You’ll be yearning to bring back a little creativity into your life. You finally get what it will take for you and your family to push your living standards above average and what’s most important is that you’ve got the willpower to make it happen. Your confidence is increasing which will make for some easy relationship bonding this June. Relationships with loved ones will find a new rhythm together and become stronger. Think twice before spending frivolously, because you have some busy days coming up that’ll require more investment than you think.

LEO

Your regular routine is due for a good shake up and there’ll be plenty of opportunities for traveling and exploring the world coming up. You’ll soon be teaching others, learning new skills and putting your name and reputation out there. A time to put those people skills to work as you outline intentions or ideas more clearly and accurately to others. At times there may be so much coming at you that you feel a bit scattered so engineer quiet spaces for yourself whenever you can.

VIRGO

Your creative side is running close to the surface this month, which will give you plenty of ideas to run with, both at home and at work. A late night social event will put you in contact with some fascinating people who you feel quite drawn to. Quite a close and exciting friendship may be started as a result. You’re mentally in a wonderful place, which means people will be falling over themselves to speak to you and help you if you need it. You’ll inspire others to raise the bar with their behaviour or the quality of work they do.

LIBRA

Your regular routine is due for a good shake up and there’ll be plenty of opportunities for traveling and exploring the world coming up. Your confidence is soaring which provides extra motivation to follow your dreams. You’ll soon be teaching others, learning new skills and putting your name and reputation out there. There may be more paperwork or other things to get your head around and mental processes may be accelerated. Communications equipment, vehicles, travel or transport might also be on your mind. Manish Kumar Arora // 91-9871062000 K.P. Astrologer, Numerologist, Tarot Card Reader &Vastu Consultant 212 JUNE 2020 | MODELISTE

Your physical energy may be in limelight as you push the envelope of daily life. Some of you may be getting out and about more and this is a good time to shake out the cobwebs. If you’re looking for something that’ll push you out of your comfort zone, consider conducting a training session, whether in person or in the form of an online video. You definitely know your stuff and you’ll get to help others right outside of the routine box by stretching yourself mentally or physically.

SAGITTARIUS

You may gain a reputation for communicating your knowledge or experience through some medium of expression. You will also appreciate and even wish to emulate certain others who can teach you a lot. You’ll be so in sync with your partner this month that you’ll barely need to speak. If single, you will have an easy time of finding people who have some chemistry with them. You need to put your investment in speculation of shares, horse races, etc. cautiously as returns may be hard to come.

CAPRICORN

You could be mulling over the past and finding emotions getting in the way of the present. Your inner spirit is yearning to be connected with the real world and “the bigger picture” of life and what better way than to help others. Nothing will disrupt your tranquility this month, even tiny arguments with your loved ones will just bounce right off you. You may feel more responsibility because of any of these areas or have to take more seriously wider communications, travel or legal matters.

AQUARIUS

You will tend to come across as more welcoming and attractive – good news for business as well as your personal life. You could be feeling somewhat self-indulgent and inclined to treat yourself to activities, or purchases which boost morale or are a valuable asset. Thinking will revolve around essential needs and gathering information about whatever would be best for yourself or others financially. Plans may focus upon certain desirable resources or practical ways of achieving this or that result. It is likely you can benefit materially through others related to these environments.

PISCES

You will get the chance to experience new work or health routines. You’ve found where you stand in life and that gives you the confidence to mark your territory and hunt it down. Employers or colleagues will tend to be more appreciative of your abilities and your contribution. Reaching out more to connect with others and some of you could be tying the knot with a loved one. Developing a new understanding will be gradual like chipping a shape out of stone. So be steady and patient.

ARIES

This is a good time for taking stock and reviewing the dance of life over the past few months and also thinking about the future. You will give more time and energy to aims and ambitions close to your heart and feel the empowerment that brings. The way should be clearer to improve things for yourself personally and definitely to be more ‘self‘ centered, doing whatever is most supportive of yourself physically, mentally and spiritually. A good idea would be to immerse yourself in nurturing pursuits which feed your soul whenever you can.

TAURUS

It’s definitely an intriguing time for you, because the thing you’ve been looking for to complete the balance in your life will be discovered and enjoyed to the maximum. This month will bring a shift in your energies that allows for more time to be spent doing fun activities. Your confidence is soaring which provides extra motivation to follow your dreams. Now’s the time to act and put your itchy feet into some walking boots. However keep being strict with your wallet, since there’s no major change occurring in that department.
