At what age did you know you had a passion for acting?

I don't remember a time in my life when I didn't love performing, singing or acting. It's just my whole life I've always loved it.

What was one of your first roles you remember having?

The first that I ever I got after hundreds and hundreds of auditions was a guest-starring role on Austin & Ally on Disney Channel, and then my first film was Descendants.

What is next on your bucket list?

I want to jump off a plane and go skydiving.

Do you have any upcoming projects that you can tell us about?

Yes, I am very excited to be releasing a new single this summer which is one of my favorite songs that I've recorded and written to date. And I'm really excited about it. And then also, July 21st is the premiere of Descendants 2, which I'm so thrilled about, and I'm also currently working on my album.

What would you like to say to your fans?

There's so much to say! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I wouldn't be without you guys. Thank you for all the love and support, always. You really do mean the world to me.

What do you love about Modeliste?

Well, the first cover that I saw was Shay Mitchell in Africa and I flipped. I thought it was so spectacular how they celebrate fashion and travel and beauty and also celebrate girl power.

Celebrity Hair Stylist Caile Noble gives us the inside scoop on how to get Sofia’s luscious curls for Summer in 4 simple steps:

First I applied products to achieve the right texture. I used Ouai Hair Oil from mid length to ends to help smooth frizz and add shine. I also added Tresemme Beauty-Full Mousse from roots to ends to give the hair volume that looks soft and natural.

Next, I established a center parting and dried the hair using a blow dryer and large round brush.

Then, I curled random pieces of hair using a large T3 1.5 Straight Barrel Curling Iron to add movement and bounce.

Lastly, I finished the style by spraying the hair with Alterna's Perfect Texture Finishing Spray to lock in that touchable texture and fullness!

SUMMER IS HERE! Is Your Skin Ready?

The sun is shining high and temperatures are rising, summer has finally arrived! Our minds may be ready for sandals, shorts, stylish swimwear, and sleeveless shirts but your skin may still be lacking a summer glow. This summer, don’t let the sunny weather catch you unprepared and show off your Summer Ready Skin.

PROTECT YOUR SKIN PROPERLY Wear sunscreen daily. There are plenty of sunscreens available but the right kind of sunscreen can effectively protect your skin from the damaging UV rays. Choose a sunscreen that has an SPF of 30 or higher and contains titanium dioxide, zinc, mexoryl SX, avobenzone. These ingredients provide excellent sun protection and are not absorbed into the skin. It’s important to understand that an SPF 30 sunscreen does not provide twice as much protection as an SPF 15 and it does not protect you for a longer amount of time! SPF 30 blocks 97% of sun rays, higher SPF can block a slightly higher percentage of sun rays but all sunscreens must be reapplied every two hours and right after swimming or sweating.

Dr. Schweitzer’s Tips for Summer Ready Skin:

UPDATE YOUR SKIN CARE Humidity and heat are modifying factors for your daily skin regimen.

If you use a creamy cleanser, summer is a great time to switch to a foamy face wash that will wash off excess oil, dirt, and sunscreen. Introducing active ingredients such as glycolic acid or polyhydroxy acids as in NeoStrata Foaming Glycolic Wash stimulate cell renewal, give you a gentle exfoliation, and enhance your skin texture. Using a light daily moisturizer containing SPF of 30 or more will give your skin much needed moisture and combat the drying effects of chlorine, saltwater, and tap water. A hydrating serum and a vitamin C lotion like Revision 30% Vitamin C Lotion in combination with a sheer sunscreen may be enough for daily element exposure.

NOURISH YOUR SKIN Drinking 6-8 glasses of water daily does not necessarily mean that your skin will be automatically hydrated.

The water you consume daily first goes through your intestines where it gets absorbed into your bloodstream, is filtered by your kidneys, and is absorbed by cells in your skin and other organs aiding in your body's hydration. The moisture in your skin can be preserved by avoiding the use of harsh soaps that can strip away natural oils. Instead, use a mild, non-abrasive, alcohol free cleanser. Minimize your exposure to moisture depleting elements such as the sun, harsh winds, low humidity, and prolonged baths.

Your diet plays a large role in promoting your skin’s ability to maintain its natural moisture. Include foods that are rich in essential fatty acids which are commonly found in salmon, flax seeds, walnuts, and olive oil.

A healthy diet that includes three to five servings a week of these essential fatty acids will aid in reducing red, flaky, dry skin. Include some Chia in your diet. These wonderful seeds contain high levels of Omega-3 which your body needs but it does not produce. Omega-3's help keep skin hydrated.

SMOOTH BUMPY BACK & ARMS

Exfoliating your skin aids with stimulating cell re-growth by removing the dead skin cells on the top layer of the skin. Different skin types and textures may have different exfoliation needs. Start by testing any new product on a small area of your face and watch to see how your skin reacts.

The proper exfoliation for your skin type should leave your skin looking and feeling smoother and refreshed.

You can start exfoliating once a week and can go up to three times per week depending on your skin sensitivity.

There are different professional options available to revitalize, renew, and brighten your skin. Flowy white shorts, crop tops, frills, sneakers with platforms, and chokers!

Do you have any summer travel plans?

So far I’ll be in the Hamptons for the 4th of July! But other than that, I’m really looking forward to small road trips around my city.

Any white/pink colour is my favourite at the moment!

Explore somewhere new in my city and go camping!

I loved Unico the moment we walked in. The aesthetics of the resort did it for me- from the picturesque lobby, high ceilings, and warm wood tones throughout. The resort was created with a great eye and attention to detail. The food was incredible (the all-inclusive feature & room service posed a danger), the hospitality, the spa (recommend the hot stone massage*), the restaurants. The bathrobe. I'll surely be back.

What are you looking forward to most about summer?

I love summer in New York City!

There’s so much to do in the city like cool concerts and rooftop day parties and then the weekends are perfect for getaways. I also love summer fashion in general so I’m excited to wear lots of crop tops and pretty dresses.

Round sunnies has always been a favorite of mine but now I’m excited to wear them tinted. I love me some red or orange tinted sunnies.

I love dark red or a nude pink/blushy tone. I always go for my Nars Rosebud lip liner for a light pink look and my KVD matte liquid lipstick in Exorcism or Outlaw for a dark red shade.

It's such a great place to go for a relaxing vacation and I absolutely loved that the hotel was the perfect combination of a luxurious experience and particular cultural elements that Riviera Maya has to offer. The restaurant variety was so amazing and the rooms were beyond stunning.

Describe your blog/ social channels?

My blog and social channels revolve around fashion, lifestyle and travel. I use my pages to express myself through my photography and fashion.

What makes your blog and social channel so unique and the ultimate go-to for all the latest trends?

My blogs and social channels are very personable. I feel I have a connection with the people that follow me. I do a lot of live streams to engage with all those who take the time out of their day to look at my page.

What inspired you to create a blog?

How did you begin?

I realized that I could share my passions with other people through instagram. I didn’t start it to necessarily get a career from it but it turned out that way. It gave me a different creative outlet at a time when I was working 6 days a week on my audio engineering degree.

What has been your greatest achievement or “ah-ha!” moment with your blog/ social channels?

My greatest achievement was to obtain an O1 visa and move to America through my IG. It had always been my dream to move to LA and I was able to achieve it by the time I was 23. Just thinking about it makes me really happy.

What elements do you think create an engaging IG feed?

The key ingredient to an engaging IG feed is personality. It doesn't matter what you do but if you have a personality then followers will gravitate towards you. Also, use the same theme all the time for consistency.

I loved that the hotel was all inclusive and how the staff were very friendly and polite. Furthermore, the outdoor hot tub on the balcony was amazing. Being in there at 2am when it was so quiet will be a moment I'll never forget. Loved every second.

Describe your blog/ social channels?

A menswear and lifestyle blog aimed to inspire and be an outlet of motivation for men to be the best version of themselves, on the outside and on the inside.

What makes your blog and social channel so unique and the ultimate go-to for all the latest trends?

My blog and social media channel is all about menswear, current and classic. I like to mix and match the current trends with timeless classics. I also talk a lot about taking a “subtle bold approach” to outfits, push the boundaries just enough while still holding on to some classic ease.

What inspired you to create a blog?

How did you begin?

I have a very interesting story… I used to be a “fat kid” growing up and carried all the negative stigmas that come with that. Fast forward to changing my life be losing 60lbs, I found this confidence that was once not there. This allowed me to fully dive into my passion for menswear and fashion and so, one 4th of July, I posted my first “outfit lay”. This would be the start of many outfit posts to come. I think for the first 2 years, I posted a new outfit everyday! (wow, that was tough!!)

I knew that I was making a mark in the menswear community when GQ reached out to include me in their “Top 10 West Coast male fashion influencers” What elements do you think create an engaging IG feed?

Blake Steven and Eff Ulloa are two of my favorites. I am also a huge fan of Ty Severe, Blake Scott and Perkens Bien Aime (who have become some of my greatest friends!). And,of course, the menswear influencer pioneers that began this social media craze!

My followers really gravitate to my #aerialview shots and close up shots of the details of my outfit. But, I strongly believe that the best posts are the personable and relatable ones.

I usually end my day writing down any random thoughts or ideas that may be lingering from the day and also, watching funny videos on youtube. I have the tendency to fall asleep with my phone in my hand.

I just had a two-page spread in GQ’s March 2017 edition. That was epic!

What is the inspiration behind your latest collections?

My family and friends and animals around me are truly my on-going inspirations. My 2-year-old niece is the inspiration for our Isla the Mermaid collection and my 13 year old son -- the original inspiration of Sugarbooger® -- inspired our latest pattern, Ryder the Rabbit. Our current patterned pet ceramics are inspired by our two lazy but demanding cats.

What do you see as the top Summer baby, pet, & home trends?

For all three brands, we are seeing a trend towards color with pops of black and white. Anything cactus, flamingo, or mermaid is flying off the shelf.

What do you love most about Summer?

I’ve always loved the long wonderful days, as if the sun will never go down!

Most recently, I have appreciated the long days for a new reason – WIND! My life changed when I took up kiteboarding. I’ve always loved the water but Kiteboarding is a new found stress release and gives me a sense of balance. I can clear my mind out on the water so there is room for fresh new ideas. I try to go after work, on the weekends, and I even squeeze in a lunch-break session when I am lucky.

How did you get into singing?

I was out with friends at a karaoke bar. A music producer heard me singing and he approached me after and suggested I come into the studio to work on backing vocals for a gigging soul band…so that’s how it all started!!

I was gigging from the age of 15.

What can you tell us about your latest single “Yeah Yeah”, a collaboration you did with Bodyrox which has recently hit #1 on the Dance charts?

I can tell you that it was that track 10 years ago that really started this crazy amazing electro journey. I wrote it as a ‘rant’ after an argument with my boyfriend. “You think you got it all worked out…..but you don’t know nothing! I can teach YOU a thing or two!” and to release with new mixes feels like a circle has been completed!

Where do you draw your inspiration from when creating music?

From everything, Life. Conversations I overhear at parties. Slogans I see graffitied on street. The way I’m feeling or response to the current social climate. Sometimes it can be love and the crazy was it can make you feel.

Describe your personal style.

I think my style is pretty much thrown together in a controlled way. I have classics and staples that I mix and match with the avant garde and punky. My designer friend in London was part of the ‘blitz kids’ in London so he always ensures there's an element of crazy in some of my stage looks.

What are three things you always carry in your purse?

As my friend Bob says. 'Walk into the room purse first!’ LOL. Well the purse is number one. What’s in it varies. I have to say doggy poo bag, a lipstick, my credit card, Jo Malone spray…and mmmmm…and haribo!!!!

What is your holy grail beauty product?

Chanel foundation, it's the best.

What do you like to do when you're not working?

How did you originally get into singing?

My mother is an incredible singer/ songwriter, and she used to come up with these clever songs about taking out the trash, or cooking dinner, and I think I just imagined everyone’s mom was like that. I started singing and writing at really young age, sort of mimicking my mom.

What artists in the industry have inspired you?

When I was 9, I saved up enough money to buy Jewel’s Spirit album and I must have listened to that CD a thousand times. I didn’t know how to read music for guitar, so I just played along and learned the songs. Also, her story and background was super inspiring to me- I had read that she had a difficult childhood, and I think seeing this talented artist succeed despite a rocky start really impacted me.

Does the music writing process always come naturally to you?

If not, what do you do to spark inspiration?

Generally, yes. I feel very fortunate to be the kind of artist that is just able to sit down and come up with something I like. I would say that 80% of the time, I’m usually just writing for myselflike a kind of therapy. I think that’s probably why the process is simple for me; It’s more about healing and less

about craft, though the two aren’t mutually exclusive. I tend to only write with goals in mind if I’m collaboratinggenerally any pop song I’ve written comes out of a writing session with another writer or producer.

What messages do you hope your music to translates to listeners?

I don’t know that I have one direct message to give people; Each song, each piece of art is it’s own nugget of information and storytelling. I guess the overarching theme of my work is rooted in vulnerability and I hope when people listen to my music, they are able to feel whatever they need to feel.

What was your favorite part of working on your upcoming EP Bold?

Definitely producing “Do Anything”. I love all the songs on the EP, especially “Love is Love” which was written by my mom. But “Do Anything” was my first ever endeavor in making a track exactly the way I wanted to make it.

Describe your fashion style.

I think I would say it’s comfortable and bold. I cannot stand being in uncomfortable clothes or shoes for the sake of “fashion”. What’s the point?

Why not feel awesome? I have a closet of feminine dresses, crop tops, and sparkly outfits, but in my daily life, I’m usually in a flannel, leggings, and flats.

What are 3 of your holy grail makeup items?

Clinique High-Lengths mascara, NAKED blush/bronzer palette, and Stila’s Stay All Day liquid lipstick in red What are some of your hobbies outside of music?

I just started rock climbing, and am not very good, but I’m excited to get better!

My partner and I have been playing a lot of tennis recently too, which has been super fun. A few other things I enjoy: crafting cocktails, making cards, and board games!

What is your spirit emoji?

I love the tree- it looks so happy!

What’s next for you?

I’m taking the Summer off to relax and do Summer fun things, and then I’ll be revved up and ready to tour Bold this Autumn!
