WELCOME TO THE ISSUE Celebration is at the heart of Modeliste Magazine: of the women we admire, the fashion we love, the art and literature that inspire us. I truly believe a cover should encapsulate a message of hope and go above and beyond just a pretty image. This is exactly what we tried to achieve when we invited Alexis Ren to be our August cover star. For a start, Alexis, while having been on hundreds of previous photoshoots and campaigns, compiled her own mood board for our cover shoot. She wanted this Cover to be unique, something she hadn’t ever done before, and reflective of who she is in the present moment. What is particularly meaningful to me is the transformative social impact Alexis has had in fashion and in society in general and how she has also rapidly become an advocate for younger generations. I’m so grateful to Alexis for sharing the experience of her transformative past year. As she embarks on a new chapter in her career, Alexis is not only a remarkable model, performer and social-media titan, but an icon of positivity and inclusiveness for her millions of young followers.

Tell us how you began your modeling career. I was spotted in a clothing store at 13, from there I signed with a modeling agency and made my first big trip out of the country to work in Japan as a full-time model. What inspires you most when creating content for your Instagram? My intention behind my social media has changed a lot over the past few years. I love creating memories as opposed to the “perfect” shot. That’s why I love film because you don’t get a do-over. It is what it is. What would you say your personal philosophy is in regards to social media? It isn’t your real life, and your self worth shouldn’t depend on the likes or comments nor should it replace real human connection in your life. I say this not just for the reader, but for myself as well. I try to be mindful of my judgments every day, and I’ve seen a vast improvement in my mental health because of it. How would you describe yourself in 3 adjectives? Intuitive, honest, and slightly dorky. Most used emoji? The red heart. Favorite book that you enjoyed recently? Team Human- Douglas Rushkoff What is the best thing that happened this year? New people came into my life this year that I’m so grateful for. What is the craziest rumor you’ve ever heard about yourself? I try not to read up on rumors. My godmother once said to me “people’s opinions about you are none of your business.” I stick by that. Favorite place to travel to? I love me a Mediterranean summer. I would love to go back to Italy...Maybe Capri or the Amalfi coast. What are 3 things on your bucket list? Buying my family a house, filling up my current passport, and writing my first book. Favorite song lyrics? “If you talk enough sense then you’ll lose your mind.” What song would you probably be caught dancing alone to? Female Energy- Willow Smith
Fashion icon? I don’t really have one if I’m being honest. If something feels good, I wear it. Simple. Current binge watch. What's something you don't go a day without wearing? Sunscreen. Most proud moment? Any moment I shared with my mother. How do you start your day? I have a morning routine that I try my best to stick to... In no particular order, I write, read, listen to a podcast, meditate, go for a run or do yoga, make breakfast, and respond to emails.
Upcoming projects you can tell us about? Acting, acting, and more acting. It’s testing me, but I love a challenge and I’m ready for this new path. What was your favorite part of your Cover photoshoot? Take a guess...The snake. Why do you love Modeliste magazine? I appreciate how collaborative Modeliste is. I was able to bring forth my ideas for the shoot to be apart of the inspiration and creative design.

Over a few weeks the threads trigger fibroblasts to induce collagen production around the threads and keep the lifted look. The threads are eventually broken down by the body but the collagen persists for several additional months. Common thread lift areas are falling eyebrows, skin on the cheeks that drop forward toward the upper lip, the lower face descending toward the chin, the jowls and drooping of the neck.

Most proud moment? My proudest moment would have to be when I went on a 41 city tour with my sister. I got to perform a duet with her and it was such an unreal feeling performing in front of thousands of people (especially the very first time). I wasn’t nervous at all, and went out on stage like I’ve done it a hundred times before. I was seventeen then, I’m not sure I would have the same confidence today. What is your morning beauty routine? I wash my face with a gel cleanser, and then use a cotton pad with an apple cider vinegar toner (it’s a mixture that I make myself at home). Then I use a tinted moisturizer that’s also has a SPF of 40, and some lip balm. I don’t wear makeup during the day, unless I’m shooting. I then make a healthy green shake in the morning, have some overnight oats that Imade the night before and I’m out the door to take some kind of workout class. 3 ultimate beauty must-haves Mascara, lip balm and blotting sheets, (I have oily skin and those blotting sheets are life savers). Best beauty advice you have ever received. My mom gave me the best beauty advice when she told me less is more. It’s so true! I’ve learned that I don’t need as much foundation, so now I just use a damp beauty blender and put on very little. I’m also using more natural tones in lipstick. Favorite fashion trend you’re wearing this season? I’m really into the barely there sandals look and I’ve been loving the neon trend for Summer. I also love slip dresses. What did you love most about the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa? Everything about the resort was so cool, especially that it was oceanfront. I loved that it was filled with animals such as, African penguins, swans, ducks, flamingos, and parrots! The swimming pool was huge and had the best water slide ever, I must’ve gone on at least 10 times. Also, I loved how at the end of the day, there was a different surprise dessert waiting for me. It was a dream vacation. What was your favorite part about our Maui Getaway? My favorite part was just getting to be in such a beautiful location shooting for Modeliste magazine and meeting new people in our travel group. Our amazing activities included a really amazing helicopter ride overlooking the island, an authentic Luau with hula dancers and drumming, All in all, the locale was beautiful, but the people I was with, made it a memorable vacation. 62 AUGUST 2019 | MODELISTE
