Elsewhere in the issue, Modeliste features an abundance of women who have, and continue to pave new paths offering unlimited inspiration and aspiration each with their own main-character energy. When I think about women’s empowerment, I am always brought back to the quote from writer and filmmaker Nora Ephron, “Above all, be the heroine of your life.” It’s a simple yet powerful reminder to always stride with confidence. In life, the challenges will be plentiful, but the most important thing is to remember that you can always empower yourself to write your own story. You are the main character and can act accordingly.
In this issue, our cover model and main character, Lucy Hale speaks to the ability to empower oneself, and of the need to take the steering wheel and not hand it over to chance. As a leading actress and signer, Lucy continues to use her voice for positivity, creativity and optimism.

What was your favorite part of your stay in Istanbul?
It took me a while to claim my seat in my industry and settle into knowing I was exactly where I was supposed to be. Everyone is on their own path to self discovery, but my advice

They treated us with so much kindness and love. I also ate my fair share of Turkish desserts before we had even crossed the Atlantic. It was so delicious!
Beauty product you cannot live without? Retinol. I’m at that age, but it also helps with hormonal breakouts.
What makes you smile?
First TV show you worked on?
I just hope what I do and what I’m about resonates as authentic. I want to lead an honest, authentic life.
What was your favorite childhood show? I was borderline obsessed with anything on the Disney Channel. We only had basic cable at home, so on vacations I would stay inside and watch Disney Channel movies all day. I remember loving “Smart House,” “Xenon,“ “Halloweentown”.
What was a highlight of your Morocco trip with Modeliste?

I’m flattered, humbled and honored to be on the September cover. Traveling across the globe with a group of talented individuals who brought this vision to life will be something I’ll remember forever. It was a pinch me moment.
Go-to piece in your closet you cannot live out?
What was your favorite aspect of staying at Jnane Tamsna in Marrakech?
Music has always, and will continue to be, such an evolving part of my story. It’s what led me to the path I'm on. Will I make an album again? I’m honestly not sure. I never say never. I will say that incorporating music in a way that involves film, through acting, or even theater, sounds more in alignment with where I’m at these days. I am seriously excited for the day I get to do a musical.
I honestly wish I could pinpoint the “aha” moment that many people have. I was the kid who rushed home from school to climb the huge tree in my backyard to talk to the tree fairies and daydream for hours. I have always been drawn to escapism as an outlet. I really just never had any thought of doing anything else. I never had a backup plan. Constantly using my imagination has and will always be the only way for me. It’s what has given me a lot of purpose.
All my friends, or even people I don’t know, call me Luce. I have a handful of people who call me Goose which came from loosey goose. Some call me Lulu. I have two friends who call me Boots which came from Puss in Boots, then Luce in Boots, then just Boots.
My dogs Elvis and Ethel, synchronicities, my morning coffee, climbing into bed at night, and knowing that the universe has my back.
How did you know you wanted to pursue a career in acting?
It was a whirlwind 48 hours but also very memorable. We were lucky enough to get to shoot in a completely empty, closed Grand Bazaar on a Sunday which is typically filled with hundreds of thousands of people. Taking pictures on the roof in that gorgeous blue gown was a standout moment.
Taking photos in the Medina, which is a huge market of thousands of local vendors, was pretty incredible. It really captured the essence of what makes Morocco so special. The colors, the textures, the people, the smells of all the delicious food.
What's your typical daily uniform? Levi’s, Anine Bing white tank, high top Converse and a ton of gold, layered jewelry.
Where are you from and what's a short itinerary you'd recommend for a first time visitor?
What's a fun fact people would be surprised to know about you?
A nickname your friends call you?
Right now I am really into these emerald green Converse. I’m wearing them every day.
Most of the people in my inner circle are creatives. Hair stylists, makeup artists, photographers, stylists, designers, and actors. I draw from their passion and creativity. Also, lots of nature time.
What's at the top of your bucket list? Visit Tokyo and do a musical.

I take a probiotic for gut health. I always wake up an hour early to start my mornings slow and set the tone for my day. LED light therapy for skin is a game changer.
The beautiful mustard colored walls and incredible interior design, waking up at the crack of dawn for the delicious cappuccinos, farm to table dinners, the eco friendly aspect, and feeling far removed from regular life. It’s a truly special place with lots of TLC.
Oh, this is tough. I take great memories from everything I’ve been a part of. Sometimes it's friendships or some truly killer shoes from the wardrobe. I’ve literally stolen props before. Sometimes all the stars align and you create something that really resonates with people. That sort of feeling stays with you forever. I’ve been fortunate enough to have a handful of those career defining moments that I'll always hold onto.

What did you love most about flying on Turkish Airlines?
I’m from Memphis, TN, home of Graceland, Sun Records, Beale Street and a lot of great BBQ. Visiting the home of Elvis Presley is a must. Central BBQ is my favorite food spot. The Civil Rights Museum you cannot miss.
Thank you for growing alongside me. Thank you for supporting and loving me through all of my phases. You’ve watched my shows and my movies. You’ve lifted my spirits when I’ve needed it most. I am constantly in a state of gratitude for having you all do life with me!
What would you like to say to your followers?
I really try to not live a fear based life. I feel you attract what you think about. I will say in the past I really struggled with the fear of not living up to expectations and fear of failure. Then I realized if you’re not taking big risks, is that really a life that I want to be living?
A song you can listen to on repeat? I have such a soft spot for the Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack and NSYNC. You’ll also never hear me complain about putting on an early 2000s pop playlist.
What are your top beauty, health and wellness tips?
I’m filming a comedy right now which hasn’t been announced yet. I also started filming a movie called “Which Brings Me To You” this fall on the east coast which I’m thrilled about. “The Storied Life of AJ Fikry,” which I shot last year will be released this fall!

I'd say in 2016 is when. things got real. I handed in my job notice and began to turn my hobby to my full time job.
As a new mum I'm really looking forward to traveling with my son and husband. I know you've probably heard every mother say this but they grow so quickly lol, I love taking him abroad and showing him the world, although he won't remember these trips they'll stay with me for a lifetime.
What's something you're looking forward to this summer?
Loads of makeup hack videos, skincare holy grails, fashion videos and my favourite places to travel.

What's your dream collaboration?
My dream collaboration would be a skincare edit with Ole Henriksen or Pixi, I love both brands so much and have used them for years, it would be a dream come true!

In 2013 whilst working full time I started a blog as a hobby to write about all things makeup and fashion. I remember discovering Kenza Zouiten's blog and quickly becoming obsessed with her style which inspired me to start delving into fashion more. A few years later I took the plunge and started my YouTube channel which at the start I spoke about makeup (which everyone and their mums would do on there lol), after a handful of videos I filmed a travel vlog with my sister which my subscribers seemed to prefer more than my usual content, so I turned my focus to vlog content rather than tutorials which turned out to be a huge success as 8 years later we're currently at 1.3 million amazing subscribers!

Ok I'm going to be a bit soppy here but my husband is the first person that comes to mind. I could sit here and tell you 101 reasons but ain't nobody got time for that lol. He's the most loving, caring, hard working person I've met. His ambition and determination inspire me every day to be the best version of myself.
I hope to influence people to be unapologetically themselves. On my platforms I share the good, the bad, the ugly. I show people that it's normal to have stretch marks, it's ok to show yourself without filters, that not everything that glitters is gold.

What's a typical day to day like for you? Every day is different depending on what jobs I have lined up. For the most part, I wake up, eat, respond to emails, do my hair and makeup, film some sort of content, edit the content, prepare new content ideas for the next day, and then catch up with friends.
Glowy skin, cream contour and blush, brow gel, winged eyeshadow or eyeliner, and a brownish lip liner.
The resort felt like its own island! It seemed very private and it was extraordinary to see all the wildlife. It was awesome to just take everything in.
What upcoming projects are you working on?
Trust your gut, stay true to yourself, study trends and always be learning how to improve, prepare for ups and downs, create boundaries between your personal life and public life, be honest, share positivity, and most of all, create things that excite you.
What would you like to say to your fans?
What type of content do you share on your social media platforms?
I mostly make fashion and beauty content. I also post lifestyle things like vlogs and share parts of my personal life with my viewers. I’ve been creating since I was 10 years old, so continuing to share experiences that happen in my life is definitely important for me.

How do you keep up to date with new trends?
I was 100% an instagram girl, but recently it has switched to TikTok! I really love the way TikTok connects people, shares information, and how much more casual it is to post. Do you have any tips/tricks for creating engaging content?
What was your favorite part of the Modeliste getaway to Red Frog Beach, Panama?
in the past, I felt the least like myself and always ended up regretting the looks. I now just consume style and trends through social media and apply them where they fit naturally into my personal style.
The moment I realized the success I had and could continue to grow in the future was when I got offered my first brand deal at age 13. At this point, I started to see my hobby as a career. I always knew I wanted to be in fashion and in front of a camera, but at the time being an influencer or content creator wasn’t even a job. I didn't know being an influencer or YouTuber would be a possible career when I started doing it.
I live in Los Angeles and here is a short itinerary I would recommend: Go on a hike, pick up a smoothie from Erewhon, check out the beach or a pool (your preference), eat at the restaurant Zinque, do some shopping in the area, and go somewhere cool for dinner and drinks like Delilah, The Nice Guy, Nobu or Catch.

My favorite fashion trend right now is the low waist. I’m loving low waisted skirts and even low waisted baggy pants.
I think people might be surprised by my athletic past. Strangers might assume that since I do beauty and fashion, I wouldn’t have been into sports. Growing up I played softball, volleyball, competitive cheerleading and golf. I really loved playing sports, but I just loved making videos more. As my online success grew, the ability to be on a sports team diminished.
Last song you played and movie you watched?
I think my years of experience at such a young age is what makes me different from other creators. I found early in my career that people connected with me more than others because I was one of few creators at the time that were actually the age of the viewers, giving a peer perspective rather than a mentor one. As years have passed and the viewers have grown up too, I believe they still look to me for a different perspective. So many more people these days want to become an influencer or their own boss, so following me and my content can be very inspiring for those types of people. I’ve been in the business longer than a lot of creators, and I have continued to maintain my platforms successfully throughout the years. I think having this amount of experience and credibility is what makes me different from other creators.
Where do you live and what's a short itinerary you'd recommend for someone visiting?
I absolutely loved the chill vibes. The resort was beautiful and everyone who worked there was so friendly!

What makes you different from other creators?
STUDY! Spending time on the platforms you are trying to engage with to learn trends and what kind of content works, is so important for finding success. It’s also important to not just follow or copy trends, but to understand the tools that work and then apply your own personal style to them. You can copy exactly what other successful creators do, but you have to offer something unique in order to truly connect and serve a purpose to viewers.
