Can you tell us a little about you? Hello , I am Morgan , 25 years old, I live in France , I studied in the field of negotiation and customer relations with the aim of becoming a real estate t, currently in a commercial and advertising modeling agency in Paris and in London since almost 3 year.
ou could change anything about yourself, what would it be? I would say , learn to accept self with your complexes and make it a strength, learn to love yourself as you are, feel ood in your body, be in harmony, self-love.
w did you start modelling? I was spotted on social networks by a photographer, then by a ond a few weeks later, incredible, experienced, with whom I learned all the basics, I took pleasure in expressing my creativity through photography without imagine for a moment that as going to become my job the following year.
t do you think of the work as a model? I love my job and it also remains my biggest challenge, knowing how to adapt in all circumstances to the customer's request, always wanting to do better, always going further, it is also knowing how to make yourself available, you can very well being contacted for a job the day before or the day before for the next day, it's all about knowing how to sell yourself to make brands want to work with you or contact you again, it's like everything, it can be learned, and that's good, I love to learn and I always try to improve myself
What is your beauty regimen? I apply a tonic lotion when I wake up which I love, a fresh and glowing complexion guaranteed, in the evening I apply a good dose of nourishing cream to nourish my skin well while I sleep, when I wake up I have nourished and radiant skin, I took me a long time to find my beauty routine.

Photographer Anubhav Sood (Poland)
Can you tell us a little about you? I am a seasoned Indian photographer currently residing in Poland, with over a decade of active engagement in the profession since 2010. Commencing my career in India, I have since transitioned to capturing moments throughout Europe. Through my lens, I strive to encapsulate and convey the intricate moods often overlooked in the fabric of our daily existence.
How and when did you get into photography? My early immersion in photography stemmed from frequent visits to my grandfather, a seasoned professional in the field. During our vacations, I found myself consistently surrounded by cameras, his artistic endeavors, and an array of captivating photographs. This inadvertent exposure undoubtedly played a pivotal role in nurturing my passion for the art of photography.
What does photography mean to you? Photography serves as my sanctuary, a realm where I transcend reality, weaving scenes reminiscent of cinematic grandeur. I am captivated by the intricacies of the craft, meticulously dissecting lighting techniques to either emulate or infuse with my unique aesthetic signature.
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. My journey in photography has undergone a significant evolution, notably transitioning from night photography capturing moody street lights to a style influenced by the atmospheric paintings of Edward Hopper and the meticulously staged scenes of Gregory Crewdson. This shift underscores the transformative power of perspective and color in eliciting emotive responses from viewers.
Do you think in advance what you want? It's common for preconceived ideas and planned shots to encounter obstacles or not meet expectations during actual shooting sessions. Consequently, I frequently find myself adapting and formulating new ideas on-site to ensure the desired outcome aligns with the project's objectives.

Where do you get inspiration from? Inspiration, for me, is like a kaleidoscope of creativity, forever shifting and evolving. It's sparked by the intricate dance of light and shadow in a fellow photographer's masterpiece, the vibrant strokes of a painting that whisper tales of distant lands, or even the raw potential of a nondescript location waiting to be transformed into a stage for my imagination. Sometimes, as I step into a new space, I can't help but wonder, "If I could capture this moment, what story would I tell?" It's in those moments of reverie that the seeds of inspiration are sown, whether or not my lens ever meets that particular scene. It's the art of possibility, painting drafts of inspiration in the canvas of my mind.
What has been your most memorable session and why? Certainly. Here's a more polished version: It's challenging to pinpoint my most memorable experience due to the consistent satisfaction I derive from my work. However, one recent standout moment was orchestrating a meticulously planned airport shoot, a project I had envisioned for over two years. Achieving seamless coordination and execution was a significant professional milestone.
Studio, on location or both? Certainly! Here's a more polished version: I have a preference for utilizing pre-made sets or seeking out studios equipped with them. However, I've recently transitioned towards working with authentic locations such as garages and airports. These settings offer a raw, unfiltered backdrop, yielding a myriad of potential outcomes
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I strive to maintain the integrity of my craft by preserving its essence as a hobby, even when taking on paid commissions. While this approach may occasionally pose challenges and limit creative freedom, I remain open to professional opportunities in photography without actively pursuing them, as my primary goal is to nurture and sustain my creative passion.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Certainly. Here's a refined version: I view a camera as a utilitarian instrument, prioritizing functionality over brand allure or feature abundance. My current tool of choice has been the EOS RP, Canon's entry-level mirrorless model, for the past four years. I remain content with its performance and have yet to feel compelled to upgrade When it comes to lens, my current favourite is sigma 24-70 Art but the lens can change based on requirements of the shot
You have advice you would like to offer a new photographer? In the past five years, the photography industry has experienced a significant boom, resulting in a saturated market. For newcomers, it's crucial to prioritize the development of a unique style and personal brand. With photography often being a sole source of income, standing out is imperative; otherwise, one risks blending into the vast sea of competitors. Stress can undoubtedly accompany this profession, particularly when livelihood depends on it. However, instead of fixating solely on equipment, aspiring photographers should channel their energy into creating compelling work that resonates with audiences.
What do you think of our new magazine? The new magazine is truly excelling in its mission to promote and connect photographers, while also serving as a wellspring of inspiration for individuals striving to discover their own unique style. Through its comprehensive coverage and engaging features, it provides valuable insights and resources for both seasoned professionals and aspiring photographers alike. By fostering a sense of community and collaboration, it not only celebrates the diverse talents within the photography world but also empowers individuals to explore their creativity and expand their horizons. In essence, it's become an indispensable asset for anyone passionate about photography and eager to grow in their craft.

Photographer Thierry Smets (Belgique)

UMBALA
by Joel Ibáñez Maturana
The UMBALA collection is an ode to the passion for color and fantasy, an artistic manifestation that arises from the creative soul of its author Each evoked image of nature - the clash of two icebergs, the aurora borealis, the lava of a volcano, and the blooming of a spring meadow - becomes a living canvas where strength and beauty intertwine in a chromatic dance.
In this visual universe, Umbala emerges as a powerful woman, a warrior of aesthetics who challenges conventional limits. Her image is her flag, a bold statement of her unique identity. In every detail of her style, in every shade of her hair, her tireless pursuit to stand out, to transcend the ordinary, and embrace the extraordinary is reflected.
The clash of two icebergs becomes an explosion of cool tones that awaken deep emotions. The aurora borealis unfolds its magic in ethereal shapes and shades, inviting exploration of the infinite range of color possibilities.
The volcano's lava burns with intensity, igniting hair with coppery hues that radiate warmth and passion. The blooming of a spring meadow translates into an explosion of life and vitality, with vibrant and fresh tones celebrating the ephemeral and powerful beauty of nature.
With "UMBALA," the author not only creates a hairdressing collection but also a manifesto of passion, freedom, and the constant pursuit of one's own identity

Photographer Joss Peix
Re-post 2020
Can you tell us a little about you ? My name is Joss Peix, I am 48 years old and I am into photography since 28 years. I was born and I always lived in Paris where I work. But my roots are Portugueses, and I always feel as a Portuguese guy because of my parent’s education. I hope I could live there one day. I have different hobbies such as travel, cooking and art in general. Before practising photography I was a painter, then a musician (guitarist) and an amateur theatre actor.
How and when did you get into photography? I started with photography 28 years ago. I remember that I always had my camera with me, and took portraits of my close family. I had no photography’s techniques when I began, I just did it with my feelings. I suppose now that’s how I have learned to take pictures, doing a lot of portraits only with my feelings. However, before I bought my first silver camera I was already into photography, interesting by the work of the 20th century black and white humanist photographers : Sabine Weiss, Willy Ronis, Robert Doisneau … So, black and white photography was obvious for me when I bought my first silver camera ! I began to take black and white portraits. After that, there were 3 important steps in my photo evolution:
- The discover of Sebastiao Salgado’s photography work which was an emotional shock that makes me understand that photography is and must continue to be an universal and a timeless emotional message ;
- The change from silver photography to digital photography. At the beginning, I couldn’t stand digital photography, as I was fond of silver photography. But with digital photography I was enabled to take more photos and I learned faster about photography’s techniques ; - The fashion and model photo that I got into 5 years ago. During several years, I only took emotional and humanist photos, essentially during my travels, and also as a street reporter. I was fond of authenticity, truth, emotions of non scheduled moments. Taking photos that remain timeless !! Then, 5 years ago, I decided to turn into models and fashion photography. At the beginning, it came as a challenge for me because fashion photography is the totally opposite of street photography : all is prepared and scheduled. But, I found my own way, mixing my humanist photography skills and experience to give to creative fashion photography some personal emotions. Finally, I guess I like fashion photography and I’m now into it, that’s all!
(Josspeix Photo) (France)
What does photography mean to you? I believe that photography can be defined in 3 words : emotion, authenticity and temporality ! To be moved by a picture, it must be true. Photography stops a time, a moment, and if this moment moves people, that’s a timeless photo. This is what photography means to me !
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers? My photography style is the result of the identity I got during all my photography experience’s years. First of all, my style is the feeling : no photography’s techniques, only the feeling to catch this one moment, this one glance, this one emotion I want to transmit. With fashion photography, even if technique is important, I accept to be wrong sometimes if I catch the perfect glance or the perfect fashion attitude. Nowadays, you can change a technical mistake with all the editing photography tools, but you can’t change a wrong moment by a perfect one. Evidently, I always put a high priority on light, but before all I focus on the human aspects. I lead the models to perform with their emotions, their truths, and their own personality!
Where do you get inspiration from? I guess that I get my inspiration from the work of my favorite photographers, as a mix of different styles :
- « Temporality » with the work of the 20th century humanist photographers that inspired me a lot ;
- « Emotions » with the work of Sebastiao Salgado that makes me understand that your photography must transmit a message ;
- « Authenticity » with the fashion and non editing work of Peter Lindbergh. In fashion photography, my favorite photographer is Peter Lindbergh, for his black and white strong and true pictures. But the photographer who has mostly inspired my artistic work, for the way to frame and build a photo, is Jean-Loup Sieff. The way you frame and you built your photos is your own artistic identity.
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I’m not a full-time professional photographer But now, I consider myself as a paid professional photographer in the fashion photography field. I am available for testing models for model agencies, for model’s books and other works with clothes’ brands. During the last 3 years, I did some 40 publications in more than 15 different fashion magazines with 35 fashion editorials, 5 back covers and 10 front covers. I especially thanks Peter Van Poucke, the Director of MODELLENLAND Magazine, for giving me the great opportunity to feature severals times in his magazine.
What has been your most memorable session and why? I have two memorable sessions for two different reasons :
- The first one was with Karolina Latoszewska, a professional polish model. She was my first agency model and she gave me the confidence to go further, to create as a stylist too and to focus into fashion model field ; - The second one was my greatest photo session for the 3 years’ anniversary of MODELLENLAND Magazine. Peter Van Poucke contacted me to have me as the official photographer for this event. He ran all the preparation of the team’s photo session, but he gave me his confidence to lead the photo session. The model was Keyoh, a great singer and model from Armenia, living in Belgium. The photos were published in 4 magazine’s issues and did 4 front covers. It was so exciting and it allowed me to be a cover’s magazine published photographer.
Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? My first digital camera was a Nikon, and since I have always worked with Nikon. My favorite lens are the fixed aperture ones : I work with a 35 mn f1.4, a 50 f1.8 and a 85 mn f1.4 mainly. I also like the X Fujifilm cameras serie, but only for my street photography.
What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? I don’t think I have any piece of advice to give to someone. I only believe that each photographer must do what he wants to do, with his own identity, with honesty and with truth. Each photographer must believe in his work.
What do you think of our new magazine? I just want to say that MODELLENLAND is an amazing magazine. I had the opportunity to feature in several times and to have some of my greatest editorials and covers with it. Many thanks to you Peter, you not only a photographer mate but also a great friend !

Model Gabriella Moraes (Brazil)
(Re-Post 01-2023)
Can you tell us a little about you? My name’s Gabriella Moraes I’m 22 years old and I’m from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I’ve been modeling professionally for 3 years, currently I’m in Taiwan but I went to China, Vietnam, Malaysia and Hong Kong. I love what I do and I feel grateful to be exactly where I always wanted.
If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be? Definitely I would like to enjoy more my free time, allow myself to be out of routine, to enjoy the moment, sometimes I can be very focus on my job that I forget to have more fun, find the balance between work and social life will be perfect to me!
How did you start modelling? I grew up following Gisele’s Bündchen career so I always wanted to be a model but it was only after finishing my high school that I decided to look for a way to work with it. Then I found out a modeling course in my city called School Models. I spend 1 year learning how to became a model with them and then my teacher and scouter Moisés Karran (also director by School Models) introduced me to the best agencies in Brazil. I signed a contract with a great agency and soon after I met my mother agency Madchen Models who is responsible for my international contracts. My first contract was in China with my 18s.
What do you think of the work as a model? There’s a Taylor Swift’s song where she said “We're happy, free, confused and lonely at the same time. It's miserable and magical.” and I think these verses can describe perfectly the modeling life. There are bad and good parts like every job. We feel pressure in many ways for example, it’s not a easy job like most of the people think, specially for who is starting, we hear “No” most of times, sometimes we have a job, sometimes we don’t so this is very stressful and unfortunately it’s a very competitive profession. I also think the fashion world has to be better, they need to include more profiles and bodies. We still have a long way to go about it. The good part it is we can meet wonderful people and get incredible experiences, meet really great photographers, designers… It’s a world with many talented people. The fact we can work around the world it’s something that makes me feel very grateful for the opportunity, I love that every country has their very own aesthetics for fashion jobs. To be honest every time when I see the results of the work I forgot the bad parts hahahaha.
What is your beauty regimen? Drink a lot of water, do therapist, spend time with myself, eat fruits and use sunscreen everyday.
What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others? I’m very professional and patience. I really don’t care if I need to jump in a cold pool for the shooting or spend hours in work. I wanna do a good job, that’s makes me happy
: Makeup artist: Yuwei (@saomakeup0130)
Stylist: @erinezee
What are your plans for the future? I will definitely study fashion designer in the future. I also wanna work as a model in Europe and South America! I would like to get more experiences in others continents and grow as a model. And also one of my biggest plans it’s buy a house for my family so I hope I can make it.
What are some of your favorite experiences so far? This is a very hard question, l think I can’t choose so I would say some of my favorite experiences it’s all in Asia! Hahahaha. I love shootings but runway is more exciting because it’s live so every fashion show that I had until here was a unforgettable experience!
Do you have any advice for those who want to start modelling? Be always yourself and be brave! If this is what you want to do, just do it! Keep your mind and body healthy and study about how to be a model! Don’t let nobody compare you and focus on your progress!
What do you think of the magazine? I think the Magazine it’s a really great platform! Hope you guys can reach more people because we can meet amazing artists here! Thank you so much for this opportunity and for let me to talk a little bit about me and my work!

Photographer George Groot (Germany)
Can you tell us a little about you? My name is George, born and raised in the Netherlands in 1969. Throughout my journey, I have explored various countries such as France, Spain, and Switzerland until I settled down in Germany, where I have been living for the past 30 years.
How and when did you get into photography? I developed a fascination for photography as a youngster. I was so intrigued by it that I learned how to develop photos using traditional methods during my time in university. I remember very well, roaming the campus in search of compelling scenes, and then eagerly develop them in the darkroom: pure magic. Then I lost sight a bit, but in the beginning the 21. century I found my interest in photography back again. Now 20 years later again, I am still on the track.
What does photography mean to you? Photography holds various meanings for me. First and foremost, it is a powerful means of self-expression and creativity. Through my photographs, I am able to convey my thoughts, emotions, and inner vision to the world. Moreover, photography acts as a form of therapeutic release for me. When behind the camera, I am able to disconnect from the outside world and focus solely on capturing the moment in front of me. This process brings a sense of calm and serenity, almost like a meditative experience. During a photoshoot, I lose myself in the beauty and wonder of the present moment. It's as if I am being reborn with each click of the shutter, fully immersed in the creative process. Photography allows me to live in the moment and appreciate the little things that often go unnoticed in our busy lives. Ultimately, photography is a deeply personal and meaningful art form to me. It is a way to express myself, find inner peace, and appreciate the beauty in the world around us.
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. My photography style is primarily focused on artnude photography. I am drawn to the use of natural light and how it beautifully accentuates the human body. I also incorporate other elements into my photography, encompassing a mix of different styles. My goal is to capture the natural, organic beauty of my subjects while bringing a unique and artistic perspective to each image.
Where do you get inspiration from? I find inspiration from a variety of sources, drawing from my surroundings and experiences. Television, magazines, and social media serve as constant sources of visual stimulation and creative influence. Additionally, I am inspired by the work of established photographers, constantly learning from their techniques and styles. Sometimes, even a simple walk in nature, such as the forest near my home, can spark my creativity through the beautiful colors and lighting, and the scent of pine trees. Overall, I strive to keep an open mind and be observant, drawing inspiration from all aspects of life.
Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? No! I usually have a general concept or theme in mind for the picture, but I am open to improvising and exploring different angles and ideas during the shoot. This allows for more creativity and sometimes leads to unexpected and unique results.
Studio, on location or both? My preferred choice is to shoot on location. I am drawn to the use of natural light and enjoy the challenge of adapting to different environments. However, I also have experience and expertise in studio work. Previously, I was part of a studio collective for 10 years. Recently, due to frequent moves, I made the decision to leave the collective and focus solely on location shoots.
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I would consider myself a hobbyist, as photography is not my primary source of income. However, I do take on paid photography projects when they align with my interests and schedule.
What has been your most memorable session and why? I had the privilege of photographing my beloved dog, 'Doggi Lou', who sadly passed away on December 30, 2023. Each session with him has been incredibly meaningful and memorable to me.
Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Oh, is there not something missing here? That must be my Fuji
What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? One piece of advice for new photographers starting their own business would be to have a main vision and goal in mind, but also be open to adapting and taking opportunities that may arise. It's important to stay true to yourself and your style, but also remain open to new ideas and directions.
What do you think of our new magazine? I follow your magazine for several years, and I like it a lot. It is a great way for all participants (Photographers, models, MUA’s,…) in the photography to showcase their work. A real benefit, for all, is that no there are no charges, and also not somebody else earns money with the work of others (what most other online-magazines do).

Model Marie Dew (France)
Can you tell us a little about you? I'm a French multidisciplinary artist. I do collage, performances, I write song lyrics, I create volumes, I'm a photographer (I do a lot of self portraits) and of course, I'm a model! The performer type.
If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be? I would be 15 years younger with today's “wisdom” and life experience... not bad, huh?
How did you start modelling? By pure chance, actually. A photographer told me he liked my face, that he saw on some social media, and asked me to model for him. At that time, I thought of myself as non photogenic but since I love challenges and new experiences, especially the collective and creative type, I just tried, thinking I didn't have much to lose. And … oh, surprise! I enjoyed what I saw! I even found a great means of expression in modelling. And from that day, I never stopped!
What do you think of the work as a model? I love it! It's such a great way to get confidence in yourself. To me, it's also a straightforward opportunity to express yourself; you don't need long years learning, to do it right, as long as you do it sincerely and with generosity and openmindedness. Modelling lead me to meet and work with so many different and creative people, mostly photographers but also other models. It took me to so many foreign places! Working as a model was also the first step for me to get where I am now. Diving into the photography world, its codes and making-of secrets, its exhibitions and opening nights, made me become a photographer myself, and a more global artist after that.
What is your beauty regimen? I'm not sure I have one... Well, I'm a sleeper and I've always been a vegie freak but I seldom resist the call of pizza and beer, haha. I guess yoga helps!
What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others? I'm a very creative person: too many ideas, not enough time! Photographers usually acknowledge that I can do a good job without being directed. I just need to know and appreciate the photographer's universe, get his or her general intention in this particular project, and a good connection with him or her to start moving, feeling and expressing. It's just amazing when you look at a unique picture and though, you can distinguish clearly both the model's and the photographer's singularity, like two signatures in one work.
What are your plans for the future? As far as modelling is concerned, I hope to go on, posing in the nude as I often do, until I'm a very old lady. I hope to have the courage to assume this very good friend that is my body, till the end, and regard it as beautiful despite its apparent decay. And look at all the wrinkles and stains and scars as meaningful memories of my long (let's hope!) and rich life.
What are some of your favorite experiences so far? I remember wearing a bikini in the snow, I remember walking naked in a wood and feeling the caress of the sun on my skin, I remember hanging in a staircase attached by a rope, I remember modelling for two weeks by the sea for a photographer who became one of my best friends, I remember dressing out for opening parties in Arles, I remember bathing in a Swiss river, between the tree roots, with a scary bird mask on, I remember posing in a cool cave by an underground river in the hottest day on a hot summer, I remember enchanted evenings with other models and photographers in a wonderful old house in Burgundy, I remember taking the lift though I'm claustrophobic, I remember having so much fun with a pack of flour, I remember trying to talk Spanish with a photographer and just letting it go, I remember taking many trains to many places... So many pictures remind me of so many graceful moments!
Do you have any advice for those who want to start modelling? “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken”, as Oscar Wilde said. Be curious, be open-minded, but remember it is ALWAYS OK to say no to something you don't feel comfortable with, whatever it is.
What do you think of the magazine? It' s really impressive that you can offer such a quality content for free! I really appreciate that the photographies are so varied and numerous. Also, the particularity of this magazine is that it focuses on humans, diverse human and body expressions, shown through so many different point of views and sensibilities. I think it would be great, though, to highlight more male models.

Photographer Wouter Nekkers (Nekx
fotografie) (Netherlands)
Introduce yourself to our readers: I'm Wouter Nekkers, 38 years young, a hairdresser and make-up artist for 25 years and I've been running my own business for 13 of those years. I'm also a photographer/drag queen/ PMU and hair tattoo specialist and very active in the world. in short, I'm a busy bee and I do everything with passion.
How and when did you start photography? I slowly started photographing in 2019. I worked a lot as a hairdresser/visagist behind the scenes at tv shows, fashion shows and also at photo shoots. I had already been participating in the Dutch coiffure awards for 10 years with success but then I made the hairstyles and worked in front of the lens together with top photographer Otto van den Toorn. After all these experiences I had this something I should and want to be able to do this myself and that's what I did then. so I went behind the lens myself.
What does photography mean to you? Photography means a lot to me, I can express all my creativity this way. but also my emotions and they sometimes shoot in all directions. But also working together with your model to create something together. I'm really a team player.
What distinguishes your work from others? I think that through my lens you see the passion of a hairdresser/ visualist who always wants to make a beautiful picture. So the passion and emotion.
Where do you get your inspiration from? My inspiration comes from a lot, I can get inspiration just walking through the forest. But I do think I get the most inspiration from the people I work with. People's energy gives me inspiration!
Do you think about what you want in the photo beforehand? Generally speaking, yes. I usually discuss this with my model for that day. This is also to empathise with each other about what we want to achieve together so that the picture will look as good as possible. But certainly also to give myself and the model some peace of mind and a little confidence.
Do you edit your photos and what do you do about them? I certainly edit my photos as little as possible. I think you can achieve a lot with lamps/light. Often I then only have to pick colour filters and remove the blemishes where necessary. do want to keep a real image.
Where do you prefer, location or studio? My preference at the moment is a studio, because I can play around with artificial light and that's where I have the most experience.
What are your future plans or what can we expect from you soon? Always have a lot of future plans in everything I do. But I will want to get even better as a photographer also in editing the photos. but I hope you can expect me soon as a photographer for a top hairdresser and that I will then photograph the photo series for the Dutch coiffure awards with a nomination, of course.
What do you look for in the models you work with? Good connection. good cooperation. So you can always create the perfect picture together.
What do you think of our magazine? I can see the passion in it and it's great that you can give everyone a platform. It's also great that you can be read in 160 countries online and for free, so it's very accessible for everyone.
Do you have another message to the modelling world? Yes definitely: take each other for who and how you are. And make it a party together so it's fun, sociable and stays that way! Then you get and keep good energy so you always get great work!

Photographer Caltar (France)
Can you tell us a little about you? My name is Caltar, I am 40 years old, and I live in France. I am a photographer specialized in creating cinematic sets. Passionate about cinema and artistic creation in general, my career is marked by a fascination with details and surreal and dreamlike worlds, which I transcribe into my photographic works.
How and when did you get into photography? I started photography seriously in 2011. At that time, I was working in IT, but I had lost interest in that field. Fascinated since my childhood by movie sets and the creation of worlds they allow, this passion for staging and details naturally led me to explore photography, where I can bring my own worlds to life through the lens. I first decided to delve into studio photography to learn lighting before starting to build my own sets.
What does photography mean to you? For me, photography is an artistic means of expression that allows me to transcribe my imaginary worlds into reality, making them a chronicle through my photos. It is a way to capture moments frozen in time and tell stories. Photography allows me to express myself deeply without words, using images to convey my feelings and emotions in a more natural and intuitive way.
Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? Yes, I spend a lot of time designing and building the sets for my photos, a process that can take from a few days to several weeks. Each element is carefully placed to contribute to the desired atmosphere. However, once in the studio, I adopt a more spontaneous approach with the models, letting them move freely while guiding them towards my vision.
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. My photographic style is characterized by cinematic sets built entirely in my studio. My works blend the real and the unreal, creating scenes filled with mystery and melancholy. I often use chiaroscuro to add narrative and visual depth. Feminine nudity is often explored, symbolizing vulnerability, strength, intrinsic beauty, and divinity. My photographs are an eclectic assembly where each element, even bits and pieces, finds its place to give life to the imaginary worlds of my mind.
Titre : Le chat noir
Série : Les Lucioles
Models : Ju & Gwen
MUA : Noëmie Lemoine
Where do you get your inspiration from? My inspiration mainly comes from cinema, comic books, and classical art, as well as from my childhood in the 80s and 90s, a period during which I was immersed in the cultural references of that era. Filmmakers like Guillermo del Toro, David Lynch, Tim Burton, Wong Kar-wai, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, and Wes Anderson, as well as artists like Edward Hopper and Gregory Crewdson, deeply influence my work. My sources of inspiration are very varied: everything around me can nourish my creativity and then mix in my mind to bring my photographic works to life.
Studio, on location, or both? Studio, to have complete control over the sets and lighting.
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I work with the passion of an amateur, developing themes that inspire me. But I also sell prints at exhibitions. Although this activity is growing, it is not yet sufficient to live on it properly.
What has been your most memorable session and why? My most memorable session was the creation of the "Hôtel des Moulins" (Mills Hotel) series in 2017. I built my first complete set and did 20 nude photo sessions with different models. It was an ambitious and exhausting project, but it allowed me to truly define my style and assert my artistic vision.
Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Nikon. As a child, I had my first photography experiences with my father's Nikon FM2, and I have remained loyal to the brand ever since. My favorite lens is the 24-70mm for its versatility, with a preference for the short focal lengths, which allow to enlarge the set and exaggerate the perspectives.
What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? My advice would be to fully immerse yourself in your passion and never stop experimenting. It is also crucial to stay true to your vision. Finally, do not be afraid to take the plunge and show your work to the world, even if it may seem intimidating at first. Ideas alone are worthless, it is their realization that counts.
What do you think of our new magazine? I find your magazine well-designed. It highlights a variety of styles and photographic approaches, which is very enriching for the photography community.

(Re-post 01/21)
Can you tell us a little about you? I’m a fashion photographer based in Paris. I started my career back in 2015 in Russia. My passion in photography is to help brands in creating their visual identity in photographs and tell their beautiful stories.
How and when did you get into photography? Since the early childhood my « best friend » was a pencil, I drew sketches everywhere, that’s how I found myself in the School of Arts. One day I opened for myself a photography as a mean of self-expression and discovering the world. I remember myself being keen on fashion, but I started with portraits. Few years after, in 2015 I established a fashion photography brand and now I continue to enjoy photography every day in the studio in the heart of Paris in the 4th arrondissement.
What does photography mean to you? When I come into studio - I feel myself being at home. When I take the camera I have so much energy. So photography means a world to me. I love the emotions that I receive from taking photos of people and their creations, as I always receive a positive feedback. Now I’m focused on the new brands and working with independent designers, as I admire their passion.
Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? Yes, sure, for me shooting is 60% of preparation and 40% of improvisation. Nothing should distract the photographer and the model in the moment, so before I think about the result, create the moodboard and discuss the references and details with my team.
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. It’s difficult for me to describe my style, because every shooting for me is special. The model, the mood, the light and the style inspire me each time. For me - less is more, and if we can simplify the image, I do it without any hesitations. Too strong light? - we soften it. Too many accessories? - we remove them. Too much drama? - we calm down. All these decisions make an image more realistic, but never boring. I’m also not a fan of over retouched images with not natural emotions. Models tell me that they like to work with me, because I have a gentle character and I never create a mess and a stress on the set. That also explains, why I invite to my team only positive and confident professionals.
Where do you get inspiration from? I take inspiration in art and in life. For example, my last editor for L’Officiel « Exceptionnelle » was inspired by the exhibition « Mercury and Venus » by Viviane Sassen that I visited in Huis Marseille gallery (Amsterdam). We amalgamated the aesthetics of antiquity and vivid colours, creating a static and relaxed mood. During the shooting I’m always inspired by the model and everything that surrounds her or him. It’s a wonderful feeling when you got that image where everything matches beautifully.
Studio, on location or both? It depends on the aim, how we can compare winds and waves of Étretat and perfect light scheme is the studio? I love both. Moreover, I use my mobile studio to be sure everything is under control even on the location.
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I consider myself being lucky as I have the possibility to make profession out of my hobby.
What has been your most memorable session and why? My the most memorable session was an editorial shooting on a yacht with a great team. I was born and raised by the Black Sea, so water gives me so much energy and inspiration.
Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? I’m a « canonist », my favorite lenses are universal Canon f4 24-105, f2.8 70200mm and for portraits Sigma 1.4 50mm.
What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start? If we are talking about the business, it’s important to have all the documentation, as we have a lot of nuances in the photography. The other advice is to create different PDF-portfolio books and be ready to send them to the clients. It’s also necessary to organise your working routine, because when we are talking about photography as a business it’s also marketing, PR, accounting and many other things you should take care about. Also, don’t hesitate to ask for help of the other professionals to grow your business efficiently.
What do you think of our new magazine? I was glad to discover for myself ModellenLand Magazine and I find it being a perfect platform for photographers to share their passion. The editorials are so different, I always read the magazine from the first to the last page with a sincere curiosity. I think that the team of ModellenLand Magazine does a great job! Photographer Jacques Hirn (France)

Photographer Alessandro Citti (Germany)
Can you tell us a little about you? My name is Citti Alessandro and I am an italian photographer based in Berlin
How and when did you get into photography?
Photography has been a part of my life since I was a child helping my father develop films in the darkroom. My first camera was a Russian LOMO Lubitel 166b from the early 1980s. I used to take pictures of my family and cats with this camera; I still own it and it is fully functional!
What does photography mean to you? Photography is the perfect medium for me to tell the story of how I observe the world and helps me synthesize my vision into frames.
This translates into my focus on representing women, which has been the core of my photography for the past 15 years. Tackling the theme of representing women has allowed me to get in touch with my feminine side; as a man, I feel connected and sensitive to the theme of supporting women in their struggle for equality and freedom to express themselves.
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. I always like to get out of my comfort zone, so there is often some new personal challenge that I incorporate into the next shoot: it may be lighting technique or interaction with the model or how I involve other professionals in my ideas. I am someone who loves to share and generate enthusiasm in collaborators, and I want that to shine through in the final result. I also try to tell something about myself in what I shoot. Maybe I put something that only I can see, but it doesn't matter if others will see it, I know it is there and that is what matters to me!
Where do you get inspiration from? I owe a huge debt to my heroes like Guy Bordin, Helmut Newton, and Jeanloup Sieff, but I am also devoted to and inspired by Italian neo-realism, which is why I love to create scenes as in a play. Representing beauty is only part of the story when I photograph women: the moment I put myself on the line and abandon my certainties, I try to challenge the models to do the same, I ask them to take a different approach from what they are used to, this, more often than not, creates the right chemistry that leads to sharing the desire to achieve the imagined end result.
What has been your most memorable session and why? The Last Supper for Women with 13 models that won the National Geographic award in the People category in 2011. It cost me 6 months of preparation, was epic, and was a clear sign of my conviction to tell a different story about the image of women. I think even today this photo is a good image to remind us of the role of women in history: crucial but often untold.
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I am free to do what I want in photography, which is the best thing. I have a very professional approach and a lot of skills, and that is recognized; so I get a lot of job offers, but most of them I drop when I don't like them or they don't convince me. This is freedom, and I am thankful that I don't have to live on photography. I always try to find a balance so that photography is not what I need to pay the bills, but at the same time I want the practice of photography to be something that does not affect my budget.
Do you think in advance what you want? Yes, many times my ideas arise during sleep, I wake up with an image in my mind and then build around this visualization the conditions to translate it into a shot making sure that the initial dream image is eventually part of the final result. I know it may sound strange, but it is a recurring process, not as random as it seems. Perhaps it is because photography for me is like a sweet obsession: my eyes look at the world around me as if I want to put everything I see in a photographic frame.
Studio, on location or both? Whatever it takes to finalize the idea I want to develop. I don't really have a preference: I like to play with lights in the studio, but I also get excited about working in situations where something might be out of my full control and a bit random.
Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? I shoot with Nikon, I have a D800 and an F100 film camera, but it doesn't really matter to me. I have made many great images simply by using a can of Pringles over the viewfinder of my old LOMO and then shooting what I was framing in the viewfinder with an Olympus mirrorless camera and its f2.8 macro! My favorite professional lenses are the Nikkor 28-70 f 2.8 and the 85 mm f 1.8, mainly because I like to be close to my subjects to make a good connection.
What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? First of all they should study for real, forget online tutorials, find a good mentor with great experience who wants to help them become independent and competent, I had mine long ago! The younger generation needs to understand the importance of learning the history of photography more than the technique. It is important to be able to visualize and make masterpieces one's own: from Edward Weston's vegetables to the Americans as told by Robert Frank, from the industrial photography of the Beker school in Düsseldorf to the long history of fashion photographers in the golden age of the 1960s-1980s, all of this must be part of the know-how. The fact is that AI is already here, the technique is fully supported by the technology, so it is becoming a real challenge to work as a photographer competing with AI, but at the same time AI is also an opportunity: learning how to generate value from AI support alongside being imperfect. In my opinion, imperfection is the added value for the future. Perfection is what is killing most photography, everything is becoming flat and boring, and many photographers will be replaced by AI, especially when a flat-but-good-and-cheap result is required. Young photographers will fail if they pretend to line up their photos to perfection, instead they should try to learn the lesson given to us by Diane Arbus: to be empathetic and transfer ourselves and the essence of our interpretation of the subject into the photos is the matter. This is what AI can't offer and this is why I remain optymistic for the future.
What do you think of our new magazine? I like it a lot mostly because it gives priority to photos and I am happy you gave me the chance to share my works!
