The bond between parent and child, giggling teenagers at a movie, the loyal puppy, the long time history of two romantics or even the taste of a delicious slice of pizza, the sound of your vintage Stratocaster, the first song you slow danced to in Junior High, or a sunset over the ocean in Maui can all be something that defines love. I love the last 2 minutes of A Day in the Life, or the middle 8 of We Can Work it Out, or the view from a bench overlooking Puget Sound, but there is nothing that even comes close to the love that I have for my girls. All love centers around them, and that love affects all of the other love I have. Love is an amazing and mysterious thing

and could even be a math equation that needs to be balanced on both sides of the equal sign. So the simple question of what do you love is not as easy as it sounds. We ask this question to our friends in Modesto this month and you can see what they say on page 16. It is always good when we look at our community with a different eye, and this month, fotoModesto turns the camera on our community and places that surround us. Some of these show a pretty picture and some are a harsh reality, but in all of the pictures, there is an amazing beauty. There really is something good to find in most places and things, and taking a step back can actually focus your mind a bit and see more clearly where we need to go. One thing I know for sure, is we all have to work together, celebrate the pieces that different groups and people do to make all of the dots connect. Connecting the dots, building the bridges and seeing reality as it is and having a vision of where we need to go are a recipe for success. We can do this. As 2018 gets underway, it is important that we shine the light on Modesto, both figuratively and literally (one of the most misused words ever). One of the things we love each year is lighting up downtown Modesto for Rockin Holiday. The sparkles, snow, decor and the LED animated Rockin Tree made downtown feel a big magical. In January, when it was time to take down the decorations, we were sad, so we decided that we would leave our downtown brighter than we left it. Thanks to our friends at Sierra Pacific Warehouse Group and Collins

Electric, we installed new market lights zig- zagging across the street, brightening our 10th St Plaza. We hope you go visit, check out a local business and help spread the word that we need well lit streets and sidewalks in downtown Modesto. Bright lights equal safety and if we do this, we will have more visitors, which will lead to more new businesses and hopefully new housing. 10th Street is just the start. Love Modesto is coming in April, but lets start this now. Celebrate the people, places and things that you love. Do it before it is too late and do the good things now. We almost lost Minnie’s and don’t take your friends for granted. Our mission here at ModestoView is to “Serve Civic Pride Daily” and we wake up everyday trying to find a way to reach new people with our message to love the place they live. Sometimes it takes work to make it what you want, but it is all worth it. Friday, February 2nd is National Wear Red Day, a day dedicated to promoting women’s heart health and raising awareness that heart disease is the # 1 killer of Americans. This theme is carried throughout the month of February, which has been nationally designated as American Heart Month. What exactly is American Heart Month? It’s a federally designated event and an ideal time to remind Americans to focus on their hearts and encourage them to get their families, friends and communities involved. Why, you ask? Cardiovascular disease, listed as the underlying cause of death, accounts for about 844,000 deaths in the US. That’s about 1 of every 3 deaths. About 2,300 Americans die of cardiovascular disease each day, an average of 1 death every 38 seconds. Cardiovascular diseases claim more lives each year than all forms of cancer and Chronic Lower Respiratory Disease combined. The American Heart Association is working to change these statistics by funding research and developing programs to improve the health of all Americans. One such program is Go Red For Women. When the program was first developed, nearly 500,000 women were dying of heart disease each year, yet women weren’t paying attention. Heart disease was dispelled as a “man’s disease,” yet more women were dying from heart disease than men. Even the symptoms of heart attack are different for men and women. What are the symptoms? · uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain in the center of your chest that lasts more than a few minutes, or goes away and comes back · Pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach. · Shortness of breath, with or without chest discomfort. · Other signs such as breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or lightheadedness. As with men, the most common heart attack symptom in women is chest pain or discomfort. But it’s important to note that women are more likely to experience the other common symptoms, particularly shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting and back or jaw pain. If you experience any of these signs or symptoms, do not wait to call for help. Dial 9-1-1, make sure to follow the operator’s instructions and get to

a hospital right away. Go Red For Women has helped raise awareness and change the tide, but the fight is far from over. Cardiovascular diseases, which includes stroke, claim the life of a woman about every 80 seconds. But about 80 percent of cardiovascular diseases may be prevented with education and lifestyle change. That’s why it’s important to participate in events like National Wear Red Day so we can continue to raise awareness and save lives. To celebrate this year, the American Heart Association is hosting an inaugural Modesto Wear Red Day celebration at Vintage Faire Mall between 10am-2pm. Foto Modesto takes over

By Jim Christiansen February, the short month long on photography as Foto Modesto takes over the Art Scene in Downtown Modesto, McHenry Village, MJC, in 25 venues, 25 special exhibits. This second annual celebration of photography and local photographers includes a special show of Treasured Lands, the nationally acclaimed exhibit by photographer QT Luong, the only photographer known to have made large format photos in all 59 National Parks. Treasured Lands will exhibit at the Mistlin Gallery. Luong will be at the Foto Modesto opening reception February 2 and for book signing and formal lecture February 11. Collision V, the collaboration of local Photographers and Poets will complete the Foto Modesto II show at Mistlin. Downtown venues for Foto Modesto include Picasso’s Gourmet Deli, Barkin Dog Grill, Ralston’s Goat, Slater’s Home Furnishings, Crow Trading, Café Deva, Dewz, Concetta, Prospect Theater Project, Tri-Chromatic Gallery, Chartreuse Muse, Preservation Coffee. Gallo Center will feature the group of photographers behind Ken White’s Life and Times of Modesto February 9 to 28. Tsymbal Honey Wine Nothing says romance more than wine! Unless it’s honey wine! You should take your honey to Tsymbal Winery in Turlock for a tasting of the sweetest wine in the valley! Tony Tsymbal started the winery in 2009, after growing grapes and making wine as a hobby for many years. His wines are made traditionally and do not contain sulfates, so if you are sensitive to sulfates, this wine is for you! He makes his Sunbeam wine from Muscat grapes and honey from Golden Comb Inc, his honey company. You can also purchase the honey wine in nectarine or raspberry flavor, as well as his other wine blends. His red is a blend of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, and his white blend consists of Muscat and Chardonnay. You can find his wine at the Turlock Farmer’s Market, or have a glass anytime at Loza Wine and Crepes, 601 E. Main Street, Turlock. You can buy a bottle for your table to share, or by the glass, or in a delicious mimosa-like beverage, a “Sunbeam and Sumol”. Sumol is a light, refreshing and fruity Portuguese soda that pairs perfect with the sweetness of the honey wine.

The bar at Dewz is beautiful. This is a showcase and right there in the middle of it, Jeremiah Hickman is mixing up something really special. You get that great vintage feel when you are sitting at the bar, so we are going back to 1926 for a drink that is a tribute to Do Good’s Jim Harrelson, the Lions Tail, now renamed Heart Like a Lion as it was one of his favorite songs. Jim was passionate about this Bourbon and the DoGood Team make sure every batch is fantastic Jeremiah is a craftsman. This drink had the vintage treatment, slowly made, as the Demerara Syrum and the Dram are mixed and fresh lime juice is added, giving it that little tart flavor and then the Amaro Di Angostura is measured into the spoon and the blend is complete. This drink is shaken very well and then double strained into a chilled coup glass. I love those drinks that have a little bit of tart to them as well as that rich DoGood California Bourbon flavor. This is one you really need to try, sit and enjoy in one of the big comfy chairs in the bar, look out the window and people watch, or hang out with friends. Jeremiah says that Shawna and Eddie are amazing bartenders and thinks this is a great way to wrap up a busy day, or with an appetizer before dinner.

Looking for a special Valentine’s evening?

Something delicious and exotic , served with wine and dessert in a romantic European atmosphere? Me too! And I found it! Loza Wine and Crepes in Turlock, owned by Yelena Tsymbal, has been open less than a year. The name “loza” comes from the Russian word for grapevine, paying homage to her Ukrainian heritage. Her chef Ryan Kendall melds Russian and Portuguese recipes together to create delicious plates you will talk about for weeks. Yelena didn’t always plan on owning a restaurant. They originally wanted to open a tasting room for the family wine business, but when the city told them they also had to serve food, they settled on crepes. Growing up, the family of 11 siblings would help staff their honey booth at the farmer’s market, and they were often near the crepe vendor, where Yelena fell in love with crepes. Their selection of crepes ranges from sweets you know and love like Nutella and bananas foster, to veggie and meat concoctions made with Ukrainian recipes you won’t find anywhere else. Your whole experience will be a delightfrom the drink selection to every delectable bite!

The coffee is always hot, and the lemonade is made daily using locally grown, fresh lemons. Try the fruit kompote if lemonade isn’t your thing, and for those of us seeking a refreshing adult beverage, try a mimosa or a glass of Tsymbal’s Honey Wine. If you want to share a lunch with friends, try the cheese plate. It is huge and is a great way to sample several treats, including a chunk of honeycomb! When it’s time to pick your main dish, you can’t go wrong with any of the crepes! The Butter Delight is made with Irish butter and has the perfect amount of cinnamon and sugar. There are plenty of vegetarian options, like the Garlic Black Pepper Mushroom (my personal fav), or the Grilled Veggie. Anything with the Russian dressing is phenomenal; it’s a sauce as delicious as it is complex. It is the finishing touch on many of the savory crepes, giving a hint of sweet with a little kick of spice to their already delicious crepe recipe . When I asked Yelena why her crepes taste different than any other crepe you can get in the valley, she shared her family secret: the base of their batter is seasonal beer (currently a winter lager) and Greek yogurt, which gives the crepe a creamy soft texture, just like European crepes.

If crepes are not something you crave (are you sure you have a pulse?) you should try their crab cakes or their chicken dumplings. Once you dip a bite-sized dumpling into sour cream, you’ll never want to eat anything else again. Most ingredients are fresh from the farmer’s market, but some items are purchased from other Main Street vendors , such as the sweet bread used to make the French Toast. Nothing beats fresh from the farm, unless of course you’re supporting another local business! You also can’t get healthier than their kitchen. There are no microwaves or fryers: each dish is made from scratch and brought directly to your table.

Food made this fresh is worth the wait! Not only do Yelena and Ryan run the restaurant together, they are the cutest couple you’ll ever meet! One of our favorite songwriters is Clark Beggs and his band, Stop Motion Poetry will perform at

the Turlock Community Auditorium on Saturday, February 10, at 7:00 p.m. with new songs from their upcoming EP. We have been following Clark since his early band called The Evening News, and his songwriting skills get better all the time. His bands have won two MAMAs (Modesto Area Music Awards) in the Pop and Alternative categories. Clark, Devin, and Spencer are brothers from Modesto and Caleb Hulin rounds out the band. They are currently working on the Dead Rose EP, funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign and produced by Sean Gould. It’s better than a box of chocolates with us - you never know what you’re gonna get! Come by and let us enrich your life with the most unique live music in town. Friday February 9 sees the return of NPR Tiny Desk Contest winner Gaelynn Lea. This classically trained violinist takes an approach that incorporates her love of traditional tunes, songwriting, poetry and sonic exploration. Her experimental and ambient take on fiddle music enhanced by a loop pedal gives Gaelynn an improvisational style all her own. She will be accompanied by Dave Mehling on guitar

for this intimate evening. Special guests Strings Attached will help warm up the show. Pianist Chase Loeb and cellist Carol Ann Loeb offer a blend of classical, modern, jazz, pop and more, re-imagined in both original compositions and classics with a digital edge. Her new quartet features Sam Ortolano on guitar, Mario Astorga on percussion and Hector Quintanilla on drums, weaving together a rich tapestry of far Eastern Indian classical music infused with vibrant Spanish guitar, energetic Afro-Cuban

Daughter to Dave and Eemjay Bell. Dave is the bassist in Modesto’s Nothing But Losers and Eemjay is their creative designer and makeup artist. Æryz was born in Modesto on January 3rd at 12:29 am, and just one day before her Dads birth date. She was 7lbs 7oz and 19 ½ inches long. Congratulations you two! You might remember when BrewView went to the Exit Escape Room Adventures, to escape from the “Saloon” room back in March. We had to find the stash of cash from a saloon owner’s illegal poker games and get out of the room within 60 minutes. It was fun to touch base with the Exit team again, Susan Edmiston, her son Phillip, and her daughter Kristi, who let us know that that new room was open and invited us to come try it! Would you believe it, Professor Pittsburg my great grandpop, passed away, and it’s up to us to find the Declaration of Independence he stole

(and hid!) and return it to the museum. That rascal! He was a world traveler, and left many clues via postcards and trinkets for us to find, leading us to the renowned National Treasure. I had no idea the guy collected so much stuff, honestly! We would pick things up and ask, “Is this a clue?!” because you just couldn’t be sure what was or wasn’t helpful in getting you out of that room. I will give you only one hint: every time you think you’ve found the last clue, you haven’t, so keep searching! This room was so much fun; we liked it a lot! They pay very good attention to detail, and design the room to make you feel as if you are in a professor’s study from the late 1800’s. Sometimes things are often worth the wait, John Soares hopes that is true for his independently produced film. Close to ten years in the making and coming full circle; the action sci-fi thriller, The Danger Element will premiere at MJC, February 24th 7 pm. This is a FREE screening with a Q&A with the cast and crew including writer-director John Soares and Doug Jones. John was nice enough to answer a few questions and due to space constraints, you will need to go online to read the full interview. Modesto View - Where did the idea of making the Danger Element come from? John Soares -The Character of Jitni was something I created while I was a film student at Modesto Junior College. I wanted to create a character that was an action hero and could also be kind of a catch-all for every experimental idea that I had. The character evolved over the course of many experimental short films for years to come. When I was working with Doug TenNapel on Sockbaby, I got this notion that I should create something of my own to put out there into the world and that became this feature-length Jitni movie. I kind of dumped everything I loved into it, which obviously made it much harder to pull off. One day, my friend, Ben Beames, was talking about a possible idea for the plot is about some kind of subatomic particle or something. He said, “and then you could call it The Danger Element!” He was joking, I think, but I really loved that title. MV-How long have you been working on the Danger Element? JS-The first scene for Danger Element was filmed in 2007. We didn’t work on it every day, of course, but principle photography continued off and on until the end of 2011. I spent a few more years in post-production, partially because other people also had a lot of work to do that I couldn’t finish the film without. The music, certain special effects. Things like that delayed post-production quite a bit on top of the fact that I had to move to Tennessee for 3 years in the middle of it to work full time on a project for Dreamworks. I particularly recall a six month period toward the end where the entire film was locked and I would just come home from work at night and mess with the color grading on each shot until it was finished. It was a particularly isolating experience. MV-The Film was shot in and around Modesto, what are some of the locations you filmed at? JS-A few of the scenes were shot in the MJC film and television studio, in the same building where the screening is happening on February 24th. Most of the film was shot in Modesto and in areas around it. You might recognize some of the areas around downtown Modesto, alleys and the tops of parking garages, that street in front of Brendan Theater. We also shot at the Plea for Peace Center in Stockton, locations in San Francisco, Marin, Turlock, Hughson, Ceres. All of it is doubling for a place called Hughson, which is where I grew up. It’s just outside of Modesto, but the city in the film is a greatly exaggerated Hughson, obviously.

MV-Most of the extras and much of the main cast are from the area, who might we recognize in the film? JS-Justin Spurlock, Ben Beames and I are the brain trust of the project. We all met in film class at Modesto Junior College. Justin plays two characters in the movie. Joshua Krebs plays Billiard. I also met him in film class at MJC. Ben Page plays Mister Saltzman and also built several of the props in the film, he’s another former MJC student. His dad, Wes Page, also has a small cameo in the film and was a responsible for a great deal of help behind the scenes. Adam Parker, who plays Andros, is an old friend of ours and a former MJC student. Mitch Miller appears all over this thing as different bit parts, Jason Amarillas, who came from a younger generation of students just before the arts programs shut down, volunteered himself to be punched and kicked as multiple anonymous bad guys. I don’t know if I’m leaving anyone out, but it’s quite a few people. MV-How was it working with Doug Jones? Had he worked with you once before correct? JS-I met Doug Jones and Guillermo Del Toro at a promotional event for Pan’s Labyrinth at San Diego Comic-Con. Doug expressed genuine interest in what I was doing and we talked on the phone a few days later at which time he asked me to let him be a part of one of my projects. I was quite flattered and we’ve become close friends ever since. He’s the kindest person in this business and incredibly generous with his time and ability. We worked together on Doug TenNapel’s Sockbaby 4 for a couple of days before working on The Danger Element. He’s a true professional. I think I only got him for a total of 8 days or something on The Danger Element and he didn’t even meet a lot of the people he was acting against. I had stand-ins that he would say the lines to because just about all the principle cast had lines to because just about all the principle cast had wrapped a week earlier. It was absolutely freezing at the location. He never complained. I found this impressive considering he had just come off Hellboy 2 the first time I filmed with him and Rise of the Silver Surfer the second time. I figured the working conditions had to be a thousand times better on those films. MV-Last Question. Beatles or Rolling Stones? JS - Rolling Stones

Doug Jones who you can currently see in the Shape of Water and Star Trek Discovery and soon will be staring in Nosferatu, will be in Modesto on February 24th for a special FREE screening of The Danger Element. This Indie Sci-Fi Action Adventure Film was locally produced by students at MJC. ModestoView- Modesto is a world away from Hollywood. How did you get involved with Westhaven Brook and the Danger Element? Doug Jones- I met John Soares and Justin Spurlock at Comic Con in San Diego when Guillermo del Toro and I were there doing a public signing to promote “Pan’s Labyrinth” in 2006. They waited in a very long line, and when they got up to our table, it was with such a sincere gush of adoration that I found charming. John handed me a DVD of some of Westhavenbrook’s work, and it took me almost another year to finally notice that DVD again and pop it in for a watch. I think it was an early episode of their web series “Sock Baby” that roped me in. Delightfully daffy with amazing stunt fighting, and I was hooked. I got hold of John, and now it was my turn to gush back at him. We stayed in touch, and it led to him offering me a role to play an evil version of myself in “Sock Baby 4,” as well as the scenery chewing villain, Dr. Elymas in “The Danger Element.” MV-You have over 150 credits from Indie to Blockbuster films and appearances on TV. What are the limitations and benefits of working on an Indie film like the Danger Element? DJ-The major limitation of any indie film is lack of budget. None of us got rich off of the filming of “The Danger Element,” in fact, all of us went a little in the hole over it, even if it was just gas money. But the benefit of indie films like this one are why we make those little sacrifices, and that would include the simple fiber of passion. Westhavenbrook is a young film company with such passion for storytelling, and passion for laughing as much as possible. I got to play a comedic, evil scientist with a horrible French accent, making up my own pronunciations as I went, no crazy monster make-up, with the freedom to go as over-the-top as I wished. A big studio film would never have allowed me that freedom, especially back in 2009 when we started filming this. But my indie director John Soares encouraged it! MV- You are best known for your prosthetic work in films, where you spend hours in the make up chair. We get to see your face in The Danger Element. What is it like to be one of the most in-demand actors in the film that most people would have a hard time recognizing on the street? DJ- Even though I’ve had quite a year full of attention in the press, I still enjoy a certain amount of anonymity on the street. I can sip a mocha at a coffee shop and not cause a mob scene. At the same time, when it’s announced who I am and what I’ve played at a convention, speaking engagement, or a red carpet event, I can enjoy the fun that comes with the world of celebrity then. MAMA Live and Local by Middagh Goodwin One thing that I Love and pretty much been a constant my entire life, Music if it is Live and Local, even better. We are quite fortunate to have so many great artists spanning just about every genre and style of music. I like so many others, wish we had a few mid-size All Ages venues in Modesto so that our local talent could grow and perform with larger touring band. It is critical to the development of our local arts community that we support the venues we have and foster any on the horizon. Last month I wrote that if the readership of the ModestoView all spent an extra $5 a month on local entertainment and the businesses that support it; we would generate 9 million dollars a year extra. All of that going directly to the backing and develop our artists and venues. That is a massive endowment with minuscule individual effort. VMI Rocks now call ModSpot Event Center home, not only is it Modesto’s School of Rock, but they also host the occasional concert. The Shire is working hard to open by the Summer and has been promoting Pop Up Concerts when they can help raise awareness and funds

to complete their unique community space. I highly recommend you look into how you can back these two spaces. Modesto Area Music Association goal is to promote and build opportunities for area musicians. To achieve this goal, we started curating the Art Walk, Music in the Plaza, the Local Stage at the Stanislaus County Fair and Downtown Sampler. If your business or group needs entertainment, get in touch we have contacts for hundreds of bands and solo performers from Jazz-Rock, Reggae-Rockabilly and some of the best singer-songwriters and cover bands. Big Earl and I are working on a variety show to air on MyTV26 and Comcast Channel 26 along with the ModestoView YouTube Channel. This month Deva Cafe continues their support of local entertainment by hosting an important concert showcasing Jordan Waters’ mission of love and stewardship. On Saturday, February 10 at 6:30 pm in support of the Stanislaus Family Justice Center a familiar lineup of acoustic artists will join together to bring awareness to break the cycles of violence. There is no gate fee but donations are encouraged. Deva Breakfast on Sundays music lineup boasts-Patty and Tim 2/4, Indyfolk 2/11, Melynda 2/18, and Marirose 2/25. February 15, the Third Thursday Modesto Art Walk will exhibit both experiences for eyes and ears throughout all of Downtown. The ModestoView stage will underscore DoMo’s favorite sweethearts, Me & You- the Duo at 11th and J St outside Tresettis’s. On Valentine’s Day, February 14 the Barkin Dog Grill will present Tim Allen and Patty Castillo Davis for a night of new songs never heard before. Showtime 7pm. FIT Just Dance! by Efren Martinez

One of the biggest enjoyments for me as a Quake DJ is to see a fully packed dance floor at any one of my gigs that I’m entertaining. Being able to move our bodies to the rhythm of a beat is in no doubt in my mind a gift from God. No other species on Earth can really appreciate this blessing like we can. In fact, most animals don’t care for and or are frightened by load noises, rhythmic sounds and bass, especially cats. Soon after we are born, babies have been known to respond well to music. Whether it be a lullaby or any kind of rhythmic sound, babies will start to move along to the rhythm of the music by kicking their legs and moving their arms. Danc-

ing, baby style. Dancing yourself into fitness is quite possibly the most enjoyable way to exercise compared to any other. Although most of us out there can be very self-conscious about not knowing how to dance correctly, the truth of the matter is that there is no specific way how you personally should dance. Seriously, about 80% of us really don’t know what were doing out there on the dance floor other than moving our bodies to the beats without the fear of being so self-conscious. My biggest advice is, don’t worry about what others might think of your creative dance moves. Just Dance! Get out there and move your arms, legs, hips and every joint in your body as much as possible. Doing so will elevate your heart rate to a fitness cardio level that burns mostly fat while your having the best time trying to do that sideways moonwalk dance move. Friends, it really doesn’t matter what style of music you enjoy dancing to. Just dance! A few years ago my wife and I took a few lessons at the Senior Citizens Center on how to ballroom dance as well as how to foxtrot. Although I prefer to freestyle when it comes to dancing, ballroom dancing turned out to be quite a workout for not only my body, but also my mind and coordination. So if your looking for some other enjoyable fitness to practice

outside of swimming, biking or running. Give it a go next time you find yourself in front of a dance floor and don’t fret if you think you don’t know how to dance, chances are the person next to you has that same feeling. My advice is dare to be a leader in life, reach into your inner courage and find your John Travolta “Staying Alive” “Dance Fever” and get on the dance floor with no cares about what others might think of your fun and perhaps uncoordinated dance moves. You my friend, you are celebrating our God given gift of dance and exercising your mind, body & soul to your own heart beat of life.

By Leia Johnson Show next month in Turlock! The show will be held at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds on March 10-11th from 10am to 5pm. This is an educational all-ages, family oriented event that draws around 10,000 people (including 4,000 kids) each year! This year there will be an exciting lineup of educational speakers geared to kids of all ages. For the first time Paleontologist Neal Larson will talk about his adventures of finding “Sue” the T-Rex, and where she ended up. The life size T-Rex skull replica (great photo opportunity) brings Richard Wade with him to talk to kids about how ancient creatures became fossils. My personal favorite part of this event are the 32 feet of Touch and See rocks and fossils! There will be 70 educational exhibits, 20 unique demonstrations, a large active children’s area, huge fluorescent room, and so much more. Just $6 for adults, kids 12 and under are free, plus free parking! There is also an opportunity for Junior High and High School students to obtain Community Service work hours. Dogs are known to protect us, are loyal and playful and are our friends. It is said that the year of the Dog is a year that brings both happiness and dissent at the same time. The Modesto Symphony Youth Orchestra (MSYO) presents its annual spring concert on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Gallo Center for the Arts. The MSYO is comprised of nearly 120 area youth in two unique ensembles, each of which will perform at the concert. The Concert Orchestra is a beginner to intermediate ensemble, and the Symphony Orchestra is an advanced full orchestra and is led by Ryan Murray, the Music Director of the MSYO.
