جوالت عمل وزٌر الطٌران لالطمئنان على المطارات ..جهد مستمر
كتب -عبدالخالق خلٌفة وأمانى سالمة: قام الفرٌق ٌونس المصرى ،وزٌر الطٌران المدنى ،بجولة تفقدٌة بمطارى شرم الشٌخ الدولى وطور سٌناء ،رافقه فٌها اللواء أحمد جنٌنة ،رئٌس مجلس إدارة الشركة القابضة للمطارات والمالحة الجوٌة والطٌار طارق فوزى ،رئٌس مجلس إدارة الشركة المصرٌة للمطارات ،بدأت الجولة بمطار شرم الشٌخ وكان فى استقبالهم الطٌار مجدى سالم ،مدٌر المطار. حٌث تفقد وزٌر الطٌران حركة السفر والوصول بالمطار وتابع جمٌع اإلجراءات األمنٌة المطبقة داخل وخارج المطار ،كما تؤكد من االنتهاء من المالحظات التى وجه بتنفٌذها خالل جولته السابقة ،واطمؤن على انسٌابٌة الحركة داخل صاالت السفر والوصول ،التى تشهد كثافة فى تشغٌل الرحالت الدولٌة والداخلٌة الوافدة من العواصم األوروبٌة والعربٌة خالل هذه الفترة. كما تفقد جمٌع مواقع الطائرات والترمك وبرج المراقبة ،واطلع على المخطط المقرر استعدا ًدا للموسم السٌاحى الشتوى القادم وطالب بتقدٌم كافة التسهٌالت وسرعة إنهاء إجراءات السفر والوصول وتذلٌل كافة العقبات للركاب والسائحٌن دع ًما للسٌاحة وزٌادة الحركة السٌاحٌة الوافدة إلى شرم الشٌخ. واستمع الوزٌر إلى آخر التطورات بمشروع توسعة مبنى الركاب رقم 2لزٌادة الطاقة االستٌعابٌة الكلٌة للمطار من 7مالٌٌن راكب إلى 9مالٌٌن راكب سنو ًٌا وذلك فى إطار تنفٌذ عملٌة تطوٌر مطار شرم الشٌخ ،ووجه المصرى فى نهاٌة جولته بضرورة إنجاز مشروعات التطوٌر بالمطار وف ًقا للخطط واالستراتٌجٌات الموضوعة واالنتهاء منها قبل نهاٌة العام الحالى.

2 مطار طور سٌناء ثم أتبعها بجولة تفقدٌة بمطار طور سٌناء ،وكان فى استقباله المهندس ٌاسر شاهٌن ،مدٌر ً شرحا تفصٌل ًٌا عن إمكانٌات المطار وموقف التشغٌل والقدرة االستٌعابٌة له المطار ،الذى قدم باإلضافة إلى عملٌات التطوٌر التى شهدها من قبل ،وأشار شاهٌن إلى أن المطار معد ومجهز لطلبة األكادٌمٌة المصرٌة لعلوم الطٌران للتدرٌب على الطٌران ،هذا باإلضافة إلى استٌعابه للطائرات ذات الطراز المتوسط ،وتعرف وزٌر الطٌران على المعوقات والتحدٌات التى تإثر على حركة المالحة الجوٌة بالمطار ،كما تفقد مبنى الركاب والذى ٌشتمل على صالتى سفر ووصول ،ومدرج الطائرات الرئٌسى ،والترمك وبرج المراقبة .وفى نهاٌة الجولة وجه وزٌر الطٌران بضرورة دراسة احتٌاجات المطار وف ًقا لإلمكانٌات المتاحة والعمل على رفع كفاءته التشغٌلٌة ،والبدء فى عملٌات تطوٌر المطار فٌما ٌخص البنٌة التحتٌة وكذا األعمال اإلنشائٌة والمرافق المحٌطة له من خالل عدة مراحل مع وضع خطط واضحة للتنفٌذ فى أسرع وقت، مع تؤمٌن األعمال الفنٌة لحقل الطائرات واستكمال جمٌع أعمال التؤمٌن داخل وخارج المطار وكذا المنشآت واألفراد بما ٌتناسب مع مطالب التطوٌر المستقبلى. وأشار بؤهمٌة التنسٌق بٌن المطار واألكادٌمٌة المصرٌة لعلوم الطٌران لتوفٌر أفضل اإلمكانٌات لتدرٌب طالب األكادٌمٌة وخلق جو مناسب ٌساعدهم على الطٌران بكفاءة عالٌة (المساعدات المالحٌة- -اإلدارٌة -الفنٌة -الهناجر ..وغٌرها) ،وأضاف المصرى أن تطوٌر مطار طور سٌناء ٌعد خطوة هامة نحو تنمٌة محافظة جنوب سٌناء وتنشٌط الحركة السٌاحٌة بالمنطقة التى تذخر بالمقاصد السٌاحٌة الخالبة التى ٌمكن استثمارها فى خطة التطوٌر المستقبلٌة ،واالستفادة من الموقع الجغرافى للمطار حٌث إنه ٌبعد 100كم فقط عن مدٌنة شرم الشٌخ إحدى أهم مناطق الجذب السٌاحى. مطار القاهرة وفور عودته إلى مطار القاهرة ،تفقد سٌر العمل داخل صاالت الوصول بمبنى الرحالت الموسمٌة وتؤكد وزٌر الطٌران من توفٌر كافة اإلمكانٌات والخدمات للحجاج بٌت هللا الحرام وسرعة إنهاء إجراءات وصولهم فى سهولة وٌسر ،كما اطمؤن على التنسٌق الجٌد بٌن جمٌع الوزارات المعنٌة لتذلٌل العقبات للخروج بموسم حج ناجح هذا العام.

«المصرى» :نضع نصب أعٌننا تنفٌذ كل ما هو فى صالح العاملٌن وأسرهم من أجل مستقبل أفضل
كتبت -أمانى سالمة: أرسل الفرٌق ٌونس المصرى ،وزٌر الطٌران المدنى ،رسالة للعاملٌن ،الذٌن حرصوا على تقدٌم الشكر له جاء فٌها قائالا« :من خالل متابعتى واهتمامى بآراء ومقترحات جمٌع العاملٌن بقطاع الطٌران المدنى وصلتنى مبادرات بعض من الزمالء الشباب من شركة مصر للطٌران والشركات األخرى التابعة لوزارة الطٌران المدنى برغبتهم فى تقدٌم الشكر لشخصى لما شعروا به من اهتمام الوزارة فى اتخاذ خطوات جادة وسرٌعة لتحفٌز العنصر البشرى وتحسٌن األوضاع المعٌشٌة بهدف االرتقاء بمنظومة العمل». ومن هنا ،أود أن أعرب عن شكرى وتقدٌرى لهذه المبادرات الكرٌمة والمشاعر الطٌبة وأنه لمن واجبى أن أتابع عن قرب من خالل الزٌارات السابقة التى قمنا بها والمستقبلٌة لمواقع العمل المختلفة لالستماع عن قرب لكافة المقترحات واألفكار البناءة لجمٌع العاملٌن بما ٌخدم هذا الكٌان الوطنى العرٌق. وإننى أسعد بالتواصل الدائم مع جمٌع العاملٌن عبر وسائل االتصال المختلفة ،وأخٌراً أإكد لكم أننا نضع نصب أعٌننا تنفٌذ كل ما هو فى صالح العاملٌن وأسرهم من أجل مستقبل أفضل لقطاع الطٌران المدنى.

وزارة طٌران «ٌونس المصرى» ..عنوان لإلنسانٌة والتفانى كتب -عبدالخالق خلٌفة وأمانى سالمة: أنهت وزارة الطٌران المدنى وهٌئاتها وشركاتها التابعة كل استعداداتها الستقبال المطارات المصرٌة رحالت عودة حجاج بٌت هللا الحرام من األراضى المقدسة ،حٌث بدأ تسٌٌر جسر جوى لعودة ما ٌقرب من 100ألف حاج من الحجاج المصرٌٌن من مطارى جدة والمدٌنة المنورة إلى المطارات المصرٌة مباشرة ،وحرص الطٌار أحمد عادل ،رئٌس الشركة القابضة لمصر للطٌران ،والطٌار أحمد جنٌنة ،رئٌس القابضة للمطارات والمالحة الجوٌة وقٌادات الشركات التابعة للقابضتٌن على استقبال الحجاج بؤنفسهم فى مبنى الرحالت الموسمٌة. بدأت وزارة الطٌران المدنى تسٌٌر جسر جوى لعودة ما ٌقرب من 100ألف حاج من الحجاج المصرٌٌن من مطارى جدة والمدٌنة المنورة إلى المطارات المصرٌة مباشرة وهى القاهرة وبرج العرب واألقصر وأسوان وحجاج الترانزٌت القادمٌن من مختلف أنحاء العالم إلى األراضى المقدسة عبر مطار القاهرة الدولى ،من بٌنهم حجاج دولتى مالى وفلسطٌن الذٌن تقلهم مصر للطٌران. وفى السٌاق ذاته ،قام الفرٌق ٌونس المصرى ،وزٌر الطٌران المدنى ،بعمل عدة اجتماعات موسعة مع كل الجهات المعنٌة بتنظٌم موسم الحج ،وأشاد بالتنسٌق الجٌد والتعاون المثمر مع كل الوزارات القائمة على تنظٌم الحج وهى وزارة الداخلٌة والتضامن االجتماعى والسٌاحة واألوقاف والصحة والمالٌة وغٌرها وكذلك التعاون المشترك مع السلطات السعودٌة لتذلٌل كافة العقبات أمام الحجاج وإنهاء إجراءات سفرهم من المطارات السعودٌة فى سهولة وٌسر تام ،وقام بجوالت مٌدانٌة فى الصاالت المخصصة لعودة ضٌوف الرحمن لالطمئنان على جاهزٌتها الستقبال رحالت العودة وتالفى حدوث أى مشكالت ،خاصة أن هذه الفترة تشهد كثافة تشغٌل فى المطارات المصرٌة.

2 الخٌمة المجهزة كما تفقد تجهٌزات الخٌمة المكٌفة الجدٌدة التى تم إعدادها خارج مبنى الرحالت الموسمٌة بمطار القاهرة أمام صالتى السفر والوصول الستقبال أسر الحجاج وذوٌهم ،ووجه بتقدٌم كل التسهٌالت وسرعة إنهاء إجراءات وصول الحجاج ،وأشاد بوجود ضباط جوازات على بعض رحالت العودة ذات الطراز العرٌض إلنهاء اإلجراءات على متن الطائرات وهو ما ٌمنع التكدس واالزدحام فى صاالت الوصول ،هذا وقد وافق الفرٌق ٌونس المصرى على طلب الدكتورة هالة زاٌد ،وزٌرة الصحة والسكان ،بزٌادة أعداد أطباء الحجر الصحى على متن طائرات مصر للطٌران إلنهاء اإلجراءات الوقائٌة وتقدٌم التؤمٌن الطبى الكامل للحجاج القادمٌن .ودعا وزٌر الطٌران جمٌع القٌادات والعاملٌن بالوزارة وشركاتها التابعة لرفع درجات االستعداد للتعامل مع كل المواقف والحاالت الطارئة وشدد على ضرورة االهتمام وتقدٌم أفضل الرعاٌة لكبار السن والمرضى ذوى االحتٌاجات الخاصة. جدٌر بالذكر أن مطار القاهرة استقبل أولى رحالت الجسر الجوى للشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران ،باحتفالٌة أمام صالة الوصول بمبنى الرحالت الموسمٌة احتفاالً وابتهاجا ً بعودة ضٌوف الرحمن من األراضى المقدسة. قٌادات إنسانٌة حرص الطٌار أحمد عادل ،رئٌس الشركة القابضة لمصر للطٌران والطٌار أحمد جنٌنة ،رئٌس القابضة للمطارات والمالحة الجوٌة وقٌادات الشركات التابعة للقابضتٌن على استقبال الحجاج بؤنفسهم فى مبنى الرحالت الموسمٌة وقدم جنٌنة وعادل الورد بؤنفسهم لجمٌع الحجاج ..كما حرصوا على متابعة كافة اإلجراءات بؤنفسهم. وصرح الطٌار أحمد عادل ،رئٌس مجلس إدارة الشركة القابضة لمصر للطٌران ،بؤنه بدأ الموسم العودة بعودة حجاج التضامن االجتماعى ،كما بدأت مصر للطٌران فى تسٌٌر جسرها الجوى لعودة حجاج باماكو بدولة ً اعتبارا من مالى ،وفٌما ٌتعلق بحجاج دولة فلسطٌن ،قامت الشركة الوطنٌة بتسٌٌر رحالتها الجوٌة لعودتهم الخمٌس الماضى 30أغسطس. وأضاف «عادل» أنه وصل إلى مطار القاهرة االثنٌن 27أغسطس 14رحلة جوٌة لعودة 2700حاج من حجاج التضامن وغٌرهم من حجاح المإسسات والهٌئات ،وباإلضافة إلى حجاج شركات السٌاحة والترانزٌت، ورحلة خاصة لعودة حجاج دولة مالى .وسٌرت الشركة الثالثاء 14رحلة جوٌة من مطار جدة لنقل 2400 حاج من حجاج القرعة ،والتضامن ،كما سٌّرت رحلة خاصة لعودة حجاج دولة مالى ،باإلضافة إلى حجاج ً فضال عن حجاج الترانزٌت. شركات السٌاحة والهٌئات والمإسسات الجدٌر بالذكر أن مصر للطٌران قد نقلت حتى أمس 34ألف حاج إلى أرض الوطن على متن 59رحلة جوٌة. حجاج المدٌنة المنورة واستقبل مطار القاهرة الدولى رحالت مصر للطٌران القادمة من مطار المدٌنة المنورة ،حٌث تسٌر الشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران 39رحلة جوٌة لعودة 7٨00حاج إلى أرض الوطن ٌومٌا ً.

«مصر للطٌران» تستقبل الطالب عبدالرحمن صبرى منفذ نماذج الطائرات
كتبت -أمانى سالمة: استقبل الطٌار أحمد عادل ،رئٌس الشركة القابضة لمصر للطٌران ،الطالب عبدالرحمن صبرى، الذى أثار إعجاب رواد مواقع التواصل االجتماعى فى الفترة الماضٌة بعد نشر صور ماكٌتات نماذج طائرات ومطارات من ورق الفوم المضغوط باستخدام الصمغ والخشب والفلٌن المقوى وبعض الخامات البالستٌكٌة بشكل غاٌة فى الدقة واإلتقان رغم صغر سنه ،التى ال تتعدى السبعة عشر عاما ً وٌعلم معظم التفاصٌل عن طرازات الطائرات كما صنع لنفسه مطاراً خاصا ً فى المنزل من الماكٌت. حٌث استقبل الطٌار أحمد عادل الطالب وأسرته فى مقر المبنى اإلدارى للشركة وشاهد نماذج لهذه الطائرات .ومن جانبه أكد «عادل» أن الشركة الوطنٌة تسعى دائما ً لتشجٌع المواهب الشابة خاصة فى مجال الطٌران ،فهم مستقبل مصر وأهداه نموذجا ً ألحدث طائرة فى أسطول الشركة الوطنٌة .وقد عبر «عبدالرحمن» وأسرته عن سعادتهم وشكرهم لمصر للطٌران للتواصل معهم وحسن استضافتهم وتشجٌعها لـ«عبدالرحمن»، خاصة أنه عاشق لمجال الطٌران وٌتمنى أن ٌلتحق بالعمل بمصر الطٌران وقد قام بصنع نماذج طائرات للعدٌد من الشركات العالمٌة ،وعلى رأسها مصر للطٌران ،ولدٌه خلفٌة كبٌرة عن برامج قٌادة الطائرات حدٌثة الطرازات. وأنهى «عبدالرحمن» لقاءه بجولة فى متحف مصر للطٌران والذى ٌرصد بالصور والوثائق والنماذج تارٌخ مصر للطٌران منذ نشؤتها فى عام 1932حتى اآلن.

مصر للطٌران تنظم 23رحلة لعودة 4٧00حاج من السعودٌة
تنظم الشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران ،الٌوم السبت 23 ،رحلة جوٌة منها 11رحلة جوٌة من مطار جدة بمعدل 10رحالت إلى القاهرة ورحلة واحدة لمطار برج العرب ،لنقل 1٧50 حاجا من حجاج تضامن القاهرة وقرعة وتضامن الجٌزة وقرعة البحٌرة وبورسعٌد ووزارة الصحة وحجاج سٌاحة وترانزٌت وأفراد .كما تنظم 12رحلة من المدٌنة المنورة جمٌعهم إلى مطار القاهرة من بٌنهم 3رحالت لنقل ٨90حاج فلسطٌنً و2150
حاج من قرعة الغربٌة وشمال وجنوب سٌناء وتنازالت وحجاج سٌاحة وترانزٌت.

الٌوم «مصر للطٌران» تنقل 565من حجاج فلسطٌن إنجً خلٌفة تسٌر شركة مصر للطٌران ،الٌوم األحد 2سبتمبر رحلتٌن قادمتٌن من المدٌنة المنورة، حاجا فلسطٌن اٌا من األراضً المقدسة ،بعد أداء مناسك الحج. إلعادة 565ا وقالت مصادر بالمطار فً تصرٌحات خاصة إن "مصر للطٌران" خصصت رحالت " " ms3291, ms3289لنقل الحجاج الفلسطٌنٌٌن. كانت مصر للطٌران بدأت جسرها الجوي لعودة حجاج دولة فلسطٌن من المدٌنة المنورة عقب آداء فرٌضة الحج مساء الخمٌس الماضً 30أغسطس على أن ٌستمر حتى ٌوم اإلثنٌن 3سبتمر. ٌذكر أن سلطات المطار ،قامت بتخصٌص صالة ،4الستقبال رحالت الحجاج الفلسطٌنٌٌن العائدٌن من األراضً المقدسة ،فضال عن تخصٌص فرق من العالقات العامة ،ورجال الجوازات ،والتؤمٌن ،والجمارك ،والحجر الصحً ،الستقبال الحجاج والعمل على سرعة إنهاء إجراءات وصولهم إلى المطار ،وخروجهم من الدائرة الجمركٌة. كان الفرٌق ٌونس المصري ،وزٌر الطٌران المدنً ،وجه بتقدٌم كافة الخدمات المقررة ً تنفٌذا والتسهٌالت ،إلنهاء إجراءات وصول حجاج قطاع غزة بعد أدائهم لمناسك الحج، لتوجٌهات الرئٌس عبد الفتاح السٌسً بتخفٌف العبء عن سكان قطاع غزة.

الٌوم ..انطالق 21رحلة لـ"مصر للطٌران" لنقل 4٧00حاج من األراضى المقدسة كتب محمود عبد الغنى تواصل الشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران ،تكثٌف جسرها الجوى لعودة حجاج بٌت هللا الحرام من األراضى المقدسة ،حٌث تسٌر الٌوم األحد 21 ،رحلة جوٌة لنقل 4٧00حاج ،بواقع حاجا ،من 11رحلة من مطار المدٌنة المنورة جمٌعهم إلى مطار القاهرة لنقل 2850ا حاجا من حجاج القرعة والتضامن حاجا فلسطٌن اٌا ،وكذلك 2285ا بٌنها رحلتان لنقل 565ا وعمل. كما تسٌر الشركة 10رحالت من جدة بمعدل 9رحالت إلى القاهرة ،ورحلة إلى برج العرب ،من بٌنها رحلتان إلى باماكو لنقل حجاج دولة مالى بإجمالى ً 1٨50 حاجا من حجاج القرعة. كما سٌرت الشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران ،خالل الـ 24ساعة الماضٌة 124 ،رحلة داخلٌة ودولٌة ،أقلعت من مطار القاهرة الدولى ،لتقل نحو 1٨أل ًفا و 600راكب من جمٌع الجنسٌات. وأضاف مصدر ،أن الشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران ،سٌرت منذ بداٌة ٌوم السبت124 ، رحلة إلى المطارات الداخلٌة والعواصم العربٌة واألوروبٌة ،فى حالة انتظام حسب جدول التشغٌل ،ودون إلغاء أى رحلة مقررة. جدٌر بالذكر أن مصر للطٌران ،سٌرت أمس السبت ،إجمالى 23رحلة جوٌة لنقل 4٨00 حاج بمعدل 11رحلة من مطار جدة و 10رحالت إلى القاهرة ورحلة واحدة لمطار برج العرب لنقل ً 1750 حاجا من حجاج التضامن والقرعة وحجاج سٌاحة وترانزٌت وعمل وأفراد ،كما تسٌر 12رحلة من المدٌنة المنورة جمٌعهم إلى مطار القاهرة من بٌنها 3 حاجا فلسطٌن ًٌا وً 2160 رحالت لنقل ً ٨90 حاجا من حجاج القرعة وحجاج سٌاحة وترانزٌت وعمل.

الٌوم ..مصر للطٌران تنقل 4٧00حاج من األراضً المقدسة على 21رحلة جوٌة كتبت حنان عز الدٌن تس ٌّر الشركة الوطنٌة مصر للطٌران الٌوم األحد 21رحلة جوٌة لنقل 4٧00حاج من األراضى المقدسة بعد أداء فرٌضة الحج. وأفادت المصادر أن من المقرر أن تنقل الشركة 11رحلة من مطار المدٌنة المنورة إلى مطار القاهرة لنقل 2٨50حاجا من بٌنها رحلتان لنقل 565حاجا فلسطٌنٌا وكذلك 22٨5 حاجا من حجاج القرعة والتضامن ،كما تسٌر 10رحالت من جدة بمعدل 9رحالت إلى القاهرة ورحلة الى برج العرب من بٌنها رحلتان إلى باماكو لنقل حجاج دولة مالً بإجمالً 1٨50حاجا من حجاج القرعة. كانت الصالة الموسمٌة بمطار القاهرة ،أقامت استعدادات خاصة الستقبال حجاج بٌت هللا الحرام فً مرحلة العودة ،إلنشاء خٌمة مكٌفة أمام صالة الوصول ،فضال عن الدفع بعدد زٌادة من مقاعد االنتظار أمام الصالة لراحة المستقبلٌن من ذوي الحجاج ،إضافة إلى بعض المظاهر االحتفالٌة من البانرات الترحٌبٌة أمام الصالة.

Solid Traffic Growth, Record Load Factor in July The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced healthy global passenger demand for July with all regions reporting growth. Total revenue passenger kilometers (RPKs) rose 6.2%, compared to the same month last year. While this was down from 8.1% year-over-year growth in June, it nevertheless marked a solid start to the peak passenger demand season. Monthly capacity (available seat kilometers or ASKs) increased by 5.5% and load factor rose 0.6 percentage point to a record high for July of 85.2%. ―The industry posted another month of solid traffic growth. And the record load factor shows that airlines are becoming even more efficient in terms of deploying capacity to meet demand. However, rising costs -- particularly fuel -- will likely limit the stimulus we would expect from lower airfares. Therefore, we do expect to see a continued slowing of growth compared to 2017,‖ said Alexandre de Juniac, IATA‘s Director General and CEO.

2 International Passenger Markets July international passenger demand rose 5.3% compared to July 2017, which was a deceleration compared to the 8.2% growth recorded in June. Total capacity climbed 4.7%, and load factor edged up half a percentage point to 85.0%. All regions reported growth, led by Asia-Pacific for the first time in three months. Asia-Pacific airlines‘ July traffic rose 7.5% over the year-ago period, a slowdown compared to June growth of 9.6%. Capacity increased 6.0% and load factor rose 1.1 percentage points to 82.1%. Growth is being supported by a combination of robust regional economic growth and an increase in route options for travelers. European carriers posted a 4.4% rise in traffic for July compared to a year ago, down from 7.1% annual growth in June. On a seasonally-adjusted basis, passenger volumes have been tracking sideways for the past three months, reflecting mixed developments on the economic front and possible traffic impacts related to air traffic control strikes across the region. Capacity rose 3.9%, and load factor climbed 0.5 percentage point to 89.1%, highest among the regions. Middle East carriers had a 4.8% increase in demand for July, well down on the 11.2% growth recorded for June, although this mainly is attributable to volatility in the data a year ago, rather than any major new developments. The region has been negatively impacted by a number of policy measures over the past 18 months, including the ban on portable electronic devices and travel restrictions. July capacity climbed 6.5% compared to a year ago and load factor dropped 1.3 percentage points to 80.3%. .

3 North American airlines‘ traffic climbed 4.1% compared to July a year ago. This was down from 6.0% growth in June, but still ahead of the 5-year average pace for carriers in the region as strong momentum in the US economy is helping underpin a pickup in international demand for airlines there. July capacity rose 2.8% with the result that load factor climbed 1.1 percentage points to 87.2%, second highest among the regions. Latin American airlines experienced a 3.8% rise in traffic in July, the slowest growth among the regions and a decline from 5.6% year-over-year growth in June. Capacity rose 4.6% and load factor slid 0.6 percentage point to 84.2%. Signs of softening demand have come alongside disruption from the general strikes in Brazil. African airlines‘ July traffic rose 6.8%, second highest among the regions. Although this represented a decline from 11.0% growth recorded in June, the seasonally-adjusted trend remains strong. Capacity rose 3.9%, and load factor jumped 2.1 percentage points to 76.0%. Higher oil and commodity prices are supporting economies in a number of countries. Domestic Passenger Markets Domestic travel demand grew by 7.8% year-on-year in July, broadly in line with 8.0% growth recorded in June. Russia‘s domestic traffic soared 10.8% in July--a 13-month high--as rising world oil prices are helping support economic activity as well as incomes and jobs. US domestic traffic also surged to a 5-month high of 5.6%, well above the 5year average of 4.2%, boosted by the rising US economy. The Bottom Line ―The second half of the year got off to a solid start. The strong demand we experienced in July is confirmation that summer is when people want to travel, to explore new places and to reunite with friends and family. Unfortunately, for air travelers in Europe, summer also brought delays and disappointment, while for airlines, it meant accepting schedule inefficiencies and longer flight times. That‘s because air traffic capacity has not kept pace with demand and because some controllers used the opportunity of the peak traffic period to launch strikes and work slowdowns. Travelers want to get to their holidays on time. It‘s past time for the European Commission, Member States and air navigation service providers to take urgent action to eliminate European airspace bottlenecks and to discourage air traffic controllers from penalizing air travelers when they are unhappy over a contract,‖ said de Juniac.

British Airways passengers to Cairo to be flown with budget airline Air Belgium
Regular British Airways passengers between Heathrow and Cairo are accustomed to a state-of-the-art Boeing 787 ―Dreamliner‖ on the five-hour daily flight to and from the Egyptian capital. But starting on Monday, BA‘s customers will find themselves on an Airbus A340 jet chartered from a company called Air Belgium. Prospective customers at ba.com are being told the flight is ―operated by Air Belgium for British Airways.‖ The ―wet-lease‖ arrangement appears to be continuing for three days, with inbound flights from Cairo to Heathrow on 4-6 September. BA has had 787s grounded because of problems with wear on their RollsRoyce engines, as have Air New Zealand, Norwegian and Virgin Atlantic. In response, airlines have chosen some combination of cancelling flights, shuffling their fleets to cover for grounded planes and chartering in capacity from other airlines. Norwegian has brought in an Airbus A380 ―SuperJumbo‖ for some of its Gatwick-New York services, Air New Zealand has hired an Eva Air Boeing 777 and Virgin Atlantic has leased and refitted Airbus A330s from the defunct Air Berlin.

2 BA‘s move will raise eyebrows because of Air Belgium‘s positioning as a budget airline. The Belgian airline‘s Airbus A340 aircraft are all over 10 years old, and previously flew for Finnair. Economy passengers on Air Belgium‘s scheduled services are invited to pay €20 for a ―comfort kit‖ including a blanket, pillow, toothbrush and toothpaste. This will not apply to flights operated for BA. Air Belgium‘s ambition to become a scheduled airline has proved problematic. The launch of flights between its base at Charleroi in Belgium and Hong Kong were twice deferred.
The airline has also been covering some Air France services, and has announced plans to serve secondary Chinese cities such as Zhengzhou, Taiyuan and Wuhan as well.

3 A spokesperson for BA said: ―We‘re doing everything we can to make sure our customers travel as planned, in light of continuing issues with Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines which are affecting many airlines around the world. ―In order to fly as many customers as possible on their original dates of travel, we have leased an aircraft from Air Belgium. ―We are in touch with customers who are affected to offer them a range of options if they don‘t wish to continue with their booking.‖ In response to the 787 engine problems, British Airways has also reduced flights from Heathrow to Los Angeles and Mumbai, and deferred the re-introduction of its link with Doha until December. Passengers to the Qatari capital are being re-booked on Qatar Airways, which is a 20 per cent shareholder in BA‘s parent company, IAG. British Airways has been wet-leasing aircraft from Titan Airways and other carriers over the summer, primarily to cover flights from Gatwick. After Monarch went bust in October 2017, BA bought the Gatwick slots of the defunct airline. The ―use them or lose them‖ rule on slots means BA has had to operate a sharply expanded schedule this summer.

UK lifts personal electronic device restrictions on some Cairo flights The UK government has lifted restrictions on passengers bringing large personal electronic devices (PEDs) into the cabin of UK-bound flights from Cairo—but apparently only on British Airways services. The UK announced bans on PEDs on UK-bound flights from Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon and Tunisia in March 2017. It has gradually been lifting these, apparently as security arrangements at individual airports are deemed to have been brought up to the necessary standards to prevent explosives being smuggled on board inside large PEDs such as laptops, tablet computers and large cellphones. The Department for Transport (DfT) announced Aug. 30 that there were no longer restrictions on PEDs being brought on board British Airways services departing Cairo. However, the announcement made no mention of whether the easing of restrictions also applied to Egyptair flights and a DfT spokeswoman was unable to clarify the matter. If the ban continues to be enforced on Egyptair services, this is likely to further annoy the Egyptian government, which is already irritated at the UK government‘s continued refusal to allow UK airlines to operate into the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh.

2 Many countries stopped flights to the resort airport following the 2015 crash of a Russian Metrojet Airbus A321 shortly after take-off. The aircraft is widely believed to have been brought down by an explosive device smuggled on board, but Egyptian investigators have not conclusively ruled out other causes. Since then, most European nations have restored services to Sharm El Sheikh, apparently satisfied with beefed-up security measures there, but the UK says the matter remains under review. Egyptian ministers are known to have raised the matter on several occasions with their UK counterparts and have told this journalist that they have been unable to get clear answers from London as to the nature of the continuing problem.

EgyptAir plane hijacker detained 15 days pending investigations The Alexandria Prosecution office on Saturday ordered the hijacker of an EgyptAir plane be detained for 15 days pending investigations. It also referred the case for investigation by Supreme State Security Prosecution, and the suspect be held at Borg el-Arab prison. A security mission from Egyptian INTERPOL earlier this month retrieved the hijacker, 60-year old Saif Eddin Mostafa, from Cypriot authorities. The case dates back to late March 2016, when Mostafa hijacked a passenger plane from Alexandria‘s Borg al-Arab International Airport, which was bound for Cairo, and forced its captain to head to Cyprus, where the plane then landed at Larnaca International Airport. The plane was carrying 55 passengers, and Egyptian authorities lost contact with it shortly after it took off from the Cairo airport. Mostafa threatened the plane‘s crew by claiming to wear an explosive belt under his clothes, later revealed to be a fake. Egypt‘s Public Prosecutor filed a request to the Cypriot prosecutor for the international extradition of Mostafa on charges of hijacking an Egyptian plane. The Supreme Court of Cyprus agreed to the request from a memorandum by the Egyptian Public Prosecution, which guarantees criminal prosecution in accordance with international standards. Mostafa admitted to the Cypriot authorities that he hijacked the plane only so that he could reunite with his family in Cyprus after 24 years. He has previously been charged with 16 felonies and misdemeanors. He was sentenced to imprisonment in 2010 but escaped in the January 25, 2011 revolution. Upon surrendering in 2014 and serving his sentence, Mostafa was released in 2015.

Chad's Tchadia Airlines to launch on Oct 1, powered by Ethiopian Airlines Ethiopia‘s state-owned flag carrier is in talks with a number of African states to acquire stakes and manage operations – a strategy aimed at gaining a competitive advantage against rivals such as those in the Gulf. The airline is ranked by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as the largest carrier in Africa by revenue and profit, outpacing regional competitors Kenya Airways and South African Airways. The inaugural flight is planned for October 1 but the first destination has yet to be determined. In 2012, Chadian authorities suspended international flights operated by state carrier Toumai Air after an investigation revealed serious safety problems. The carrier operated flights to regional destinations including neighbouring Cameroon, Gabon and Ivory Coast. It also operated seasonal routes to Saudi Arabia and Dubai. Ethiopian Airlines roars on For Ethiopian Airlines, the partnership is another step in its efforts to work with national carriers across the continent. The Group has capitalized on market opportunities by prudently optimizing its production organization, stabilizing income level and strengthening cost management to reinforce its competitive advantage in the core business. In spite of unfavorable factors such as higher jet fuel prices and depreciation in exchange rates, the Group has delivered solid results for the Period.

2 Advance Strategic Arrangement and Continue to Expand Route Network In the first half of 2018, the Company newly launched (resumed routes included) 28 domestic and international routes, comprising 21 domestic and 7 international routes. As for the Beijing Hub, the Company launched international routes of Beijing-Barcelona, Beijing-Houston-Panama, Beijing-Copenhagen, Beijing-Hanoi, etc.; as at the end of the Period, the Company launched around 30 direct routes from Beijing to the countries along the Belt and Road. The capacity of Beijing as one of the key bases increased by 6.8% year-on-year by optimizing the capacity deployment structure of the Beijing Hub and increasing the deployment of wide-body aircraft for key routes departing from Beijing. The Group delivered through check-in baggage services on routes from 19 European cities to domestic destinations via Beijing. As at the end of June 2018, this service has covered 35 waypoints in Europe, America and Australia; the number of O&D connected in the Beijing Hub increased to 6,050 from 5,918 as at the end of 2017; the onward transit products of the Beijing Hub were

3 promoted and the passengers transfer services were enhanced. The number of onward transit passengers via Beijing increased by 25.4% year on year. The Chengdu International Hub launched new international and domestic routes such as ChengduBangkok, Chengdu-Huai'an and Chengdu-Hotan, and the capacity contributed increased by 10.3% year-on-year. Shanghai and Shenzhen international gateways have continuously improved the planning of route network and deployment of widebody aircraft through interconnection with surrounding areas. In addition, the quadrilateral strategic layout has been continuously optimized and the route network has been further developed as the Company launched new international and domestic routes such as Hangzhou-Nha Trang, Dalian-Shijiazhuang- Yinchuan, and Hangzhou-Xi'an-Karamay. As at the end of June 2018, the Company's passenger routes have expanded to 434 in total, across six continents of the world, comprising 308 domestic, 109 international and 17 regional routes. The Company's network covered 42 countries and regions and 189 cities, including 69 international, 4 regional and 116 domestic cities. Through Star Alliance, the Company's route network extended to 1,317 destinations in 193 countries.

United Airlines raises checked-bag fee to $30 The first checked bag for flights now costs $30 — up from $25 — for flights in North America, Central America and the Caribbean. The second checked bag will now cost $40, up from $35. United said in a statement the change will allow the airline to ―continue investing in the overall customer experience in today‘s marketplace.‖ It added that passengers with MileagePlus Premier status in the airline‘s loyalty program, and customers who purchase their ticket with an eligible MileagePlus credit card, ―will continue to receive complimentary checked luggage.‖ Earlier this week, JetBlue announced it was also hiking the price of checked luggage by $5 per bag. Air Canada and its discount rival WestJet also increased the prices of checked bags by a similar amount. United‘s largest rivals, American Airlines and Delta Air Lines, charge $25 for the first checked bag and $35 for the second checked bag on many routes. American and Delta declined to comment to CNN if they plan to follow United‘s move. The price increase comes at a time when airlines are battling rising fuel and labor costs. The International Air Transport Association, a global industry group, has slashed its forecast for total profits for the global airline industry in 2018 by 12 percent. But airlines are making up those costs with ancillary fees, like checking bags and picking a seat. In 2017, US airlines collected $4.6 billion in baggage fees, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. United reported better than expected second quarter earnings. Its stock is up 27 percent year-to-date after a controversial 2017.
