Path 02

This route displays the journey to the island. Beginning with the ferry and the first step on the island. With the sight of the first buildings, a sense of scale appears. The building is a long pitched roofed house that contains Egholms restaurant. The buildings are closely linked to the surroundings, which the entire island has in common. Walking further, a small forest comes up and more houses appear as one reaches the fields. The rest of the way is defined by rough muddy terrain and fields on both sides which focuses one’s attention on the arrival to the beach, as you hear the waves and the smell of the sea fills the air.

The other route is more defined by the water and nature, as you walk along the tall grass and the different vegetations growing on a sandy shore. This path also gives more open access with a panoramic view of the mainland across the water. The path ends at small descend upon which the site slowly rises, where the view stretches to horizon on one end and the water on the other end.

The analysis shows that the paths towards the site give different experiences. The health centre should, in this case, consider the different ways the visitors arrive at the site. Path 1 gives the visitor an insight into the island and its many variations of nature through the forest and into the fields. The physical ground and the pavement also transforms throughout path 1, where one follows the gravel road that is meant for the cars to the muddy and uneven road that leads to the site. Path 2 leads directly to the site and is slightly more even. The path gives a good view of the water and is closely connected to the water, where the smell and the sand establishes a unique experience and can contribute to the healing of the mind.
