To My Friend Fred Miller By John G. Logan

There is just one word in English That is paramount to me, And so many folks relinquish, For it’s value they don’t see. And that one word is GRATITUDE, That, we can all afford; It’s scope, extent, and magnitude So oft’ by us ignored. And then too order, if I dare, We measure things by wealth; Yet, happiness will ne’er despair Where there’s beauty and there‘s health. When one puts forth endeavor To restore these things you’ve lost; Incentive’s greatest lever Is in gratitude, not cost.
