A success story Established by Alberto Minotti in 1948, the company planted its roots in post-WWII Italy, steeped in highquality manufacturing tradition, and grew with the country’s 1960s industrial boom. As Made in Italy products gained currency around the world, so has Minotti, over the course of 70 years, become an internationally known and recognized brand.

The debut of new collaborations A long journey that saw the handover from father, Alberto, to sons Renato and Roberto, brought the use of high-tech manufacturing solutions, yet retained hand-crafted quality; since 1998, the strategic partnership with Rodolfo Dordoni, the global expansion of the brand and an ongoing quest for the highest quality. The passion, dedication and long-term vision, that have marked the success of the company over its seventy years, are shared by the third generation: in the forefront, Alessio, Alessandro and Susanna who are facing the challenges of the third millennium with its digital and multicultural world.
2018 also marks a breakthrough in the company’s design management. In consideration of the ongoing company growth in the sign of continuity and rigour as inspired by Rodolfo Dordoni – which have clearly distinguished the last two decades, lending the company a bold, unique identity – Minotti has embraced an exciting creative multicultural exchange, thanks to surprising new interpretations by distinguished design and architecture professionals, like Nendo and Marcio Kogan, coordinated by the Milanese designer.
The result is an entirely multifaced collection, that reveals a design approach open to a variety of eloquently individualized contributions, rooted in vibrantly diverse cultural backgrounds. While maintaining the elegant shapes, discreet designs and continuity deeply embedded in the company’s DNA.

The sculptural shape of the Noor coffee table is grounded in the choice of a material with the plasticity of ceramics. It is made using an ancient, hand-crafted technique that lends each piece a unique personality. Two truncated cones merge into a single, unique shape to form a coffee table whose iconic personality is further underscored by the selection of two metal finishes: Bronze and Platinum. These finishes require that the ceramic piece undergo an additional firing after vitrification to bond the metal to the glaze.

Rodolfo Dordoni a time-tested partnership
Minotti and Rodolfo Dordoni: the company started working with the Milanese architect and designer back in 1997 and collection after collection this cooperation continues to strengthen the identity of a brand whose distinguishing feature is continuity. The first collection developed jointly with Rodolfo Dordoni consisted of just a few pieces but was hugely successful among all the trade. Thus ensued a wider working partnership that culminated with Rodolfo Dordoni being appointed artistic director and coordinator of all the company’s collections.
The deepest roots of this long-lasting, successful collaboration in terms of the results it has given, lie in the deep harmony that binds Rodolfo Dordoni to the Minotti brothers and in their having the very same mindset. The cultural background, professional experience and sensitivity of Rodolfo Dordoni found fertile ground in a company that translated the designer’s insights into finished projects. Minotti collections are born in a climate of shared ideas, surrounded by a myriad of cues and observations. These may come from different sources of inspiration and then converge into aesthetic motifs that interpret the Minotti style in a modern key and with a special focus on the details, finishings and materials that give the collections their uniqueness. Rimadesio was founded in 1956 by Francesco Malberti and Luigi Riboldi. The company started out under the name of Rima Vetraria and its headquarters were in Desio, in the Milan northern area. Desio is situated in the heart of Brianza: a clearly defined area in Lombardy that was getting ready to become a leader in the exceptional industrial and economic boom that was to take place a few years later. The two-part name Rimadesio-vetro has been present from the very start: at the beginning the company dedicated its work to flat panes of glass, working for other furniture companies. A large part of the production process was carried out by hand: engravings, gold-leaf applications and colouring were all done by hand, one at a time. These working methods were matched by a great desire to experiment and a huge life-force. During this period the company built up its own technological know-how, and expanded its range of materials to include wood and plexiglass.

Designed by Davide Sozzi in 2016, it is one of the most recent pieces that became part of the production of Promemoria. The writing desk, available in different essences, has the base and details in bronze. It is available in two models: structure and drawers in wood with top, modesty panel and compartments in leather; structure, top modesty panel and compartments in wood, drawers fronts in leather. The chest of drawers has a recessed handles with placemats and pencil holders in leather. Au Bout de la Nuit has on the top a predisposition for electrical outlets.

My typical workday is filled with client meetings, site inspections, and studio work. 60% of the time is mostly spent outside the studio. At AEDI Interior Design Bureau, I am personally in-charge of supervising every project. There is no such thing as 100% delegation on junior designer. In all cases, every detail and design, all decisions are made between me, Audrey, and junior designer.

Choosing the best furniture p i e c e s c a n b e a d e l i c at e ta s k . Do you have some tips to overcome this challenge? Indeed. This is the biggest task, because every design is based on certain budget, but on the other hand we want to achieve best possible results. Choosing the right furniture, most of the time is start as early as finding the concept or mood board. We want to be sure about what client preferences on color, shapes, comfort, etc. Our iPad is full of catalogs to give a good picture of the form and mood. Give client a glimpse of look of the desired furniture. As soon as we start working on drawing board, our team, together with client began to search the furniture, visiting potential brands that we want to use for the project. Mostly the showroom visit happens on weekend, where the traffic is less congested.

H a s s o c i a l m e d i a s u c h a s I n s ta g r a m & Pinterest changed the landscape to look f o r i n s p i r at i o n f o r yo u at a l l , as a designer? Yes and no. Social media are very flat media. You cannot judge the depth and scale of design especially by looking at interior design on Instagram or Pinterest. Pinterest is helpful to find specific brands and products, just like a phone book back in the days. It’s more like a news rather than inspirational. For me, inspiration came from traveling, music, and socializing.
As an avid traveler, i s t h e r e a c i t y t h at e xc i t e s yo u, in terms of design? I don’t have certain favorites cities. Almost all cities has its own charm, and if you look close enough you may find good design inspiration. I like Scandinavian region, Bangkok, and Tokyo.

Currently we are working on various types of projects from show units, villas, offices, and residential on different design style and location. The energy level is quite high at the moment. Meridiani was born out of a simple yet passionate idea of Laura Ferraro Crosti: to design a home collection able to interpret classic themes with contemporary flair, products which can stand the test of time and convey a sophisticated yet relaxed elegance.
A home collection characterized by a recognizable lifestyle, timeless yet always up to date, able to keep an eye open for trends but with deep roots in the past. Timeless collections, elegant and without frills, essential but still vivacious, modern but with no compromises with temporary trends. A distinguished style, an inspiring new classic that leaves space for personal interpretation. Furnishings for the living room, the bedroom, the dining area, the library and the outdoor: meticulous signs, precise proportions, essential volumes. Indoor and outdoor collections recall each other also in the details, the precious materials and in the crafts. It’s about the need to feel that the indoor space becomes one with the outdoor one and that elegance, continuity and a thread bind them forever in time. Precious textiles, textures stolen from the richest wardrobe: natural fibers such as linen, cotton, velvet and chenille, elegant threads transformed in couches, beds armchairs and chaise longues. The softness of full grain leather and the strength of hide are emphasized by seams inspired by the art of saddlery.
