Tennessee High School Softball Coaches Now Have An Organization For The Whole State
A
fter years of organizing and leading the Middle Tennessee Softball Coaches Association (MTSCA), past Presidents John Conditt and Phil Burkhart worked together to lead a new statewide organization for all Tennessee softball coaches: the Tennessee Softball Coaches Association ( TSCA).
John Conditt and Phil Burkhart serve as executive directors of the TSCA, working with coaches from the three sections of Tennessee: East, Middle, and West. Coaches from all classifications of the TSSAA- Division I: A, AA, AAA and Division II: A, AA are invited to join. The TSCA has also invited all university and college coaches in the state of Tennessee to join as members. The TSCA hopes that the university and college coaches can give the organization many ideas and help generate a bond between the high school coach and the college coach. The TSCA is a powerful voice for high school softball coaches in Tennessee. We are working closely with the TSSAA to develop feedback from high school coaches on rule changes and elements that are important to high school softball coaches and the young ladies who play the game. To become a member of TSCA, log on to www.tnsca.com and fill out the membership application. Co-Executive Director
Phil Burkhart has been in education for over 32 years as a football, basketball, baseball, and softball coach. Phil has been an athletic director, director of admissions, assistant principal, and principal during this time. He now teaches PE and coaches softball at Rossview High School in Clarksville. He has also coached softball at Lipscomb, Friendship, and Lebanon before coming to Clarksville to start the program when Rossview opened in 2001. Coach Burkhart has taken teams to the Final Eight in the state five times—three times in Class A, one time in Class AA, and one time in Class AAA. Co-Executive Director
John Conditt is a retired educator with over 32 years of experience coaching football, baseball, and softball. John started his career coaching in Pasadena, Texas and recently retired from Antioch High School. John has received numerous awards and honors during his coaching career. In Tennessee, Coach Conditt was named Coca-Cola® Football Coach of the Year and Coca-Cola® Baseball Coach of the Year. John was a charter member of the Middle Tennessee Softball Coaches Association and is one of the current executive directors
of the statewide Tennessee Softball Coaches Association. Coach Conditt has participated as assistant softball coach or head softball coach whose teams earned the opportunity to participate in three state softball tournaments. Coach Conditt has coached all levels of the game from Tee Ball® to high school. Coach Conditt is excited about the future of softball in Tennessee and the many opportunities the statewide Tennessee Softball Coaches Association will provide to Tennessee’s softball athletes. Coach Conditt lives on a small working farm with his wife and the youngest of their seven children. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Gordonsville. Coach Conditt enjoys spending time with his family and 11 grandchildren. Listed below are your area representatives and their email addresses. Please feel free to contact them any time you have something you want to share with other members. They have volunteered to help in any way possible, so please work with them or contact them with your ideas! If you would like to help, please let us know. We would be glad to have your assistance!
