vec une gamme riche de quatre modèles (Classe G, ML, GL, et Classe R), Mercedes s’est fait du grand 4 x 4 de loisirs une spécialité. Il manquait toutefois une corde à son arc, un modèle plus compact, c’est chose faite. Car la marque à l’étoile a surpris son monde en présentant à Detroit, en janvier dernier, son dernier « tout-terrain » à l’esprit carré. Et Mercedes enfonce le clou en présentant le GLK comme un descendant direct du mythique Classe G, premier 4 x 4 de la marque, lancé il y a maintenant trente ans et authentique franchisseur. Question « dessous », Le GLK est bâti sur la plate-forme de la Classe C : Il est d’ailleurs assemblé dans la même usine que la berline, à Brême, en Allemagne. Son lien de parenté avec le Classe G se retrouve plutôt dans un design « percutant » et, dans une moindre mesure, dans une transmission intégrale 4 Matic d’une fiabilité parfaite. En ce qui concerne les motorisations, trois Six cylindres connus seront proposés au lancement en octobre prochain. Il s’agit des V6 essence de 3 litres (GLK 280) et 3,5 litres (GLK 350) et du V6 turbodiesel de 3 litres (GLK 320 CDI). Ces moteurs seront obligatoirement accouplés à la boîte automatique Mercedes à sept rapports. Pour l’équipement, Mercedes restera fidèle au principe d’un seul niveau de finition que l’on enrichit à l’envi en recourant à des packs optionnels. Pack Luxe, Pack Sport, Pack Technologie, Pack Offroad, il y en aura pour tous les goûts et toutes les bourses.
UNE ÉLÉGANCE « OLD FASHION » La double casquette, qui surplombe l’instrumentation et l’écran de navigation, exhale un vague parfum rétro, impression confirmée par une planche de bord peu profonde, un pare-brise quasi vertical et un volant de grand diamètre. Même avec l’option toit ouvrant panoramique, l’ambiance à bord est plus proche d’un 4 x 4 que d’une berline ou d’un monospace. L’amortissement variable « Agility Control » laisse d’abord le GLK flotter sur ses suspensions avant de se raffermir en virage. Cela optimise la motricité en tout-terrain. Côté moteur, le 3 litres diesel s’avère particulièrement adapté à un véhicule présentant une telle masse. Le GLK en version 320 CDI se montre plus silencieux et plus brillant dans les reprises, ce qui épargne une boîte de vitesses automatique très douce. Le Mercedes GLK se distingue également par une aisance supérieure en tout-terrain.

A SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE ffering a range of four models (Class G, ML, GL, and Class R), Mercedes makes a special feature out of this big 4x4. Previously, there was a missing string to its bow: a compact model. And now it’s arrived. The star brand surprised the whole world last January in Detroit when it presented its latest square-look four-wheel drive. Mercedes-Benz gives the GLK further credibility by announcing it as the direct descendent of the legendary Class G, the manufacturer’s leading 4-wheel drive launched thirty years ago. The GLK’s underbody is built on the same platform as the Class C. It’s even assembled in the same plant as the saloon car in Bremen, Germany. The family resemblance to the Class G is evident in its powerful design and in a lesser way, in the integrated 4Matic transmission with perfect reliability. Three six-cylinder engines will be launched in October. They are the 3.0 liter V6 gas (GLK 280), a 3.5 liter V6 (GLK 350) and a 3.0 liter V6 turbo diesel (GLK 320 CDI). The engines are 7 speed automatic transmission. Mercedes remains faithful to its principle of having only one level of finish that you can embellish with a choice of optional ‘packages’: Luxury Package, Sports Package, Technology Package or Off-road Package – there’s one to suit all tastes and budgets.

OLD-FASHIONED ELEGANCE Inside, the dual cassette over the instrument panel and navigation screen has a vague retro air; an impression reinforced by the shallow dashboard, almost vertical windscreen and very wide steering wheel. Even with the sunroof option, it’s more like a 4-wheel drive car than a sedan or wagon. The Agility Control suspension lets the GLK float on a bed of suspension that tightens and firms when taking bends. This optimizes the motor functions off-road. The 3 liter diesel engine is well adapted to such a big vehicle. The GLK version 320 CDI is quieter and smarter in shift changes, which makes the automatic transmission very gentle. The Mercedes GLK is also distinguished by superior off-road driving ability.

re de chevaux du V10 de cette Lamborghini qui en gagne Gallardo originelle. La cylindrée de son précieux moteur e 5.0 à 5.2.. C’est évident, le couple profite de cette améculmine à 540 Nm à 6 500 tr/mn, contre 510 Nm à 4 250 rdo et Superleggara. Autant dire qu’à tout régime, vous pouvez compter sur la vivacité de votre Taureau.
Avec 1 410 kg, la plus puissante des Gallardo se veut plus légère que sa devancière de 20 kg – mais tout de même plus lourde de 80 kg que la Superleggera qui, comme son nom l’indique, se révèle… Un poids plume de 1 330 kg. Les orfèvres transalpins de la mécanique ont en effet dopé son V10 tout en l’allégeant. Résultat, la LP 560-4 dévore l’asphalte, abat le 0 à 100 km/h en 3,7 s et “ pousse “ jusqu’à 325 km/h. Tout aussi explicite que le chiffre 560 et le LP – se rapportant au moteur placé longitudinalement devant le train arrière -, le 4 qui clôt l’appellation de ce modèle fait référence à la transmission intégrale permanente «Viscous Traction » qui permet de passer ce bouillant tempérament à la route.
UNE BEAUTÉ À COUPER LE SOUFFLE En termes d’esthétique, la LP-560-4 offre une proue plus ramassée avec des prises d’air redimensionnées pour rafraîchir le V10 vitaminé. Arborant une forme plus aérodynamique, la face de cette « Lambo » a été également étudiée pour réduire l’impact en cas de choc piéton. On appréciera aussi les nouveaux phares caractérisés par le Y des LED des feux de position. Pour faire bonne mesure, les optiques arrière ont été repensées, le pare-chocs arrière revu dans un matériau composite à même d’absorber l’énergie d’un choc, et le diffuseur redessiné. Grâce également au soubassement lisse, la nouvelle Gallardo est à même de négocier au mieux les virages à haute vitesse. Pour flatter l’œil et l’oreille, une nouvelle ligne d’échappement – à quatre sorties polies - adaptée au nouveau V10, qu’elle magnifie, a fait son apparition. Autre amélioration notable, l’optionnelle transmission robotisée séquentielle e-Gear, qui peut remplacer la boîte manuelle à six vitesses, a été allégée et le temps de passage des rapports raccourci de 40 % ! Les silent-blocs ont également été modifiés pour accroître la dynamique de cette Gallardo. L’habitacle, évidemment, brille par son raffinement – notamment grâce aux packs cuir et alcantara étendus ou au pack carbone – et sa richesse technologique. Bien sûr, les clients amoureux du « sur-mesure » pourront opter pour le programme Ad Personam…
EXQUISITE EVERYONE THINKS THAT THE LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO IS PERFECT, BUT WITH THIS NEW MODEL, ITS MANUFACTURER PROVES THAT PERFECTION CAN BECOME EVEN MORE SUBLIME. SO WHILE ENGINEERS IN SANT’AGATA BOLOGNESE SUCCESSFULLY INCREASED THE POWER OF THIS GALLARDO’S V10, THE DESIGNERS WERE ALSO BUSY, MAKING THEIR SKETCHES MINIMALIST BUT QUITE MAGNIFICENT. AND THE RESULT IS TRULY EXQUISITE! 560 HORSES AT FULL GALLOP This Lamborghini’s V10 is 560 horsepower —an increase of 40 HP compared with the previous Gallardo! The cylinder of the precious engine has increased from 5.0 to 5.2. These improvements are clearly noticeable; now at maximum torque output, the engine yields 540 Nm at 6.500 RPM, against 510 Nm at 4,250 RPM for the Gallardo and Superleggara. Suffice to say that at any speed you can count on the rapid responsiveness of your Raging Bull. Weighing 1,410 kg, the most powerful Gallardo is 20 kg lighter than its predecessor —but even so it’s 80 kg heavier than the featherweight ‘Superleggera’ as the name indicates... which weighs just 1,330 kg. The talented engineers in Italy have in effect strengthened and reinforced the V10 whilst making it lighter. The result is that the LP 560-4 eats up the tarmac, going from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and accelerates up to a speed of 325 km/h.
The number 560 and the letters LP are explicit: they relate to the horsepower, the engine situated longitudinally at the rear, and the 4 in this model refers to the 4wheel drive transmission that allows it to hold the road so well.
BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL Aesthetically speaking, the LP-560-4 has a newly designed front that squats low on the ground with re-dimensioned air intakes to cool the augmented V10. With a more aerodynamic shape, the front of this Lambo has been redesigned to reduce impact in case of impact with a pedestrian. You’ll also love the new-look headlamps, characterized by Y-shape LEDs in ‘daytime’ position. The rear tail lights have also been redesigned and the rear valance now consists of a composite material to absorb the energy of an impact and redistribute it. The smooth underbody allows the new Gallardo to easily negotiate hairpin bends at high speeds. The new exhaust is kind on the eye and the ear, with four polished pipes adapted to the new V10. Yet another feature that makes this car magnificent. A further notable improvement is the optional e-Gear automatic transmission which can replace the manual six-shift transmission. It reduces shift times by a full 40 percent! The silencers have also been changed to improve this Gallardo’s dynamism. Evidently the interior is superbly elegant, thanks to the abundance of luxurious leather plus the technological richness of the instrument panel. Of course, clients who would prefer a made-to-measure interior can opt for the ‘Ad Personam’ pack.

e cabriolet Veyron se nommera « Grand Sport » en hommage aux anciens modèles de la marque. Première apparition : lors du concours d’élégance de Peeble Beach (16 août 2008), un rassemblement de voitures exceptionnelles. Pour le moment aucun élément technique n’a été dévoilé, la seule certitude est que le cabriolet Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport sera doté d’un toit amovible. Pour les amateurs, il ne faudra pas trop traîner car il se murmure que la production de ce modèle se limitera à 150 exemplaires. Pour rappel, le coupé Bugatti Veyron possède un moteur W16 8.0 L quadri-turbo dôté d’une puissance de 1001 ch à 6000 tr/mn et d’un couple de 1250 Nm. Résultat : une vitesse maximale de 407,92 km/h et un 0 à 100 km/h abattu en 2,5 s !

Its first sighting was at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance (16 August 2008) where a host of exceptional cars were on show. For now, no technical specifications have been revealed; just the certitude that the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Cabriolet will be convertible. But Bugatti fans should act quickly as it’s rumored that the edition will be limited to 150 cars! As a reminder, the Bugatti Veyron Coupé has a W16 8.0 Liter quadri-turbo engine with 1001 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and a torque of 1,250 Nm. The result is a top speed of 407.92 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 2.5 seconds!

La famille s’agrandit ? C’est le moment d’investir dans un véhicule à la (dé-) mesure de vos besoins. Sauf que les monospaces ne vous inspirent pas. Vous allez adorer le Dodge Journey, à cheval sur plusieurs segments. Si extérieurement, il est difficile de cataloguer l’Américain, sa vocation en revanche saute aux yeux : le transport de familles nombreuses. Ce qui ne l’empêche pas d’être parfait pour les amateurs de sports extrêmes.
L’ALLIANCE DE L’AMÉRIQUE ET DE L’ALLEMAGNE Sous le capot de ce bel hybride, on trouve un Diesel de 140 ch. Ce qui peut surprendre. Vu les lignes musclées du Journey, on s’attendrait plutôt à y trouver un “big block”. Mais Dodge a visiblement bien étudié les besoins du Vieux Continent : comme pour ses autres modèles d’exportation, il a donc puisé dans la « banque d’organes » VW le fameux 2.0 TDI (rebaptisé CRD) à injecteurs-pompe. Un bloc valeureux qui constituera chez nous l’unique offre mécanique. La nouveauté, c’est que le 2.0 CRD s’accouple pour la première fois avec une transmission à double embrayage DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission).
UN DESIGN ÉNERGIQUE ET UNE VRAIE PERSONNALITÉ Avec son capot plat et nervuré, ses montants noirs lui conférant un profil dynamique et sa bouche king size, le Journey cherche avant tout à se démarquer en mettant en avant une vraie personnalité. À l’intérieur, la planche de bord témoigne d’une fabrication soignée. Le volant se règle dans tous les sens et se drape de cuir (de série dès la finition SXT).
100% PRATIQUE, 100% RANGEMENTS
Côté modularité aussi, le Journey offre l’embarras du choix, avec deux versions 5 et 7 portes, et une banquette coulissant sur 12 cm. En outre, tous les sièges reçoivent des dossiers inclinables et le dernier rang n’est pas seulement réservé aux animaux domestiques. En bon américain, le Journey ne lésine pas sur les rangements : double boîte à gants réfrigérée, trappe dans le coffre ou encore de profonds bacs dans le plancher du second rang. Pour les plus grands, un système DVD (écran escamotable et de deux casques infrarouges) est même disponible. Venons-en au plus important : le coffre. Le plancher plat sera un précieux allié pour transporter poussette et litsparapluie : modeste lorsque les 3 rangées sont en place (155 l), le volume de chargement peut atteindre 783 l en mode cinq places, et même 1.610 l en configuration deux places. L’acoustique est également au rendez-vous. Le Journey propose en effet une installation multimedia de haut niveau (6 HP Infinity, disque dur de 30 Go, GPS).
BEAUCOUP DE DOUCEUR SOUS SON ALLURE MUSCLÉE Le Journey est confortable et absorbe sans secousses les aspérités du goudron. Et cela grâce à des pneus aux flancs suffisamment hauts, et une suspension qui privilégie les vertèbres des occupants à une tenue de route incisive. Un positionnement clairement typé confort. On appréciera ainsi la douceur de la direction, le freinage rassurant et la boîte qui avale les rapports imperceptiblement.

On the level of modularity, we’re stuck for choice between Journey’s two 5 and 7 door variants with an optional 12-cm sliding seat. All seats have reclining backs and the rear row is not just for pets! In true American style, the Journey does not skimp on storage space: there is a cooled double glove compartment known as the ‘chill zone’, a trapdoor in the trunk and two deep wells under the second row seats. For adults, there’s even a DVD system (with a retractable screen and two infrared headsets). Let’s look at the most important compartment: the trunk. THE AMERICAN-GERMAN ALLIANCE Under this hybrid’s bonnet lies a diesel engine with 140 horsepower. The surprising thing given the Journey’s muscled appearance is that instead of finding a big engine bock, Dodge has evidently researched the preferences of the Old Continent and followed the example of the VW famous design for the 2.0 TDI (known as the CRD) and installed pump injectors. Result? an engine block that is mechanically unique in Europe. The big change is that the 2.0 CRD for the first time has a double clutch transmission (DCT).
A LOT OF SOFTNESS UNDER ITS MUSCLED EXTERIOR The Journey is very comfortable and absorbs any bumps in the road without jolts. This is thanks to sufficiently high tires and suspension that protects passengers’ backbones with excellent road handling. Its positioning is clearly geared towards comfort. You’ll also love the easy steering, reassuring brake system and the smooth shift transmission that handles gear changes imperceptibly.

ême si le constructeur britannique fabrique des autos parmi les plus luxueuses et les plus puissantes du marché, la protection de l’environnement est néanmoins au cœur de ses préoccupations. Suivant cette politique de « développement durable », Bentley vient d’annoncer qu’il visait pour ses modèles des rejets de CO2 inférieurs à 120 g/ km d’ici à l’année 2012. Un chiffre qui tient compte de toute la chaîne de vie des carburants, de leur production à leur consommation par les moteurs. Ce qui avantage les carburants dits « verts » comme l’E85, au détriment d’autres technologies comme l’électricité ou la pile à combustible. C’est donc pour cela, outre le développement de nouveaux blocs moteurs permettant de réduire la consommation de 40% et les émissions nocives de 15 % par rapport aux modèles actuels (sans perte de performance, une Bentley doit rester une Bentley !), que le constructeur désire que tous ses modèles puissent être alimentés par des biocarburants à l’horizon 2012. Avec des premiers exemplaires en service dès l’année prochaine. Il s’agira de carburants renouvelables de deuxième génération, ceux actuellement utilisés étant sujet à polémique sur leur rendement réel dans la lutte contre le réchauffement climatique.

Un achat pour soi, mais avant tout un investissement pour la planète, puisque cette auto offre la compensation CO2 des 50 000 premiers kilomètres de la voiture, en participant à la mise en œuvre de projets d’énergie renouvelable sous l’égide de l’ONU (ferme éolienne de Tétouan au Maroc, Barrage Pihuamo au Mexique …). Disponible depuis la mi-juin, en version coupé comme en cabriolet —à l’exception de la motorisation de base 61 ch et de la Brabus— la finition “Neutroclimat” se dote des mêmes équipements que la finition “Passion”, auxquels s’ajoutent la direction assistée, le pack confort et le pack audio. Les versions diesel cdi se distinguent par leur sellerie cuir surpiquée et leur filtre à particules.

mart Fortwo is by definition small, practical and adapted to the city. It’s also ecologically-friendly. It was awarded top prize by the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (Ademe) for its low CO2 emissions (88g de CO2/km for the diesel CDI version) and it has now has added a citizen edition to its range, called the “Neutroclimat”. A purchase to give oneself pleasure, certainly, but also an investment for the planet since this car offers compensation to the planet for the first 50,000 kilometers of CO2 emissions by helping projects for recyclable energy as part of a United Nations program (a wind turbine farm in Tétouan, Morocco and the Pihuamo dam in Mexico). Available in Europe from mid-June in Coupé and Cabriolet versions —except for the 61 HP engine and the ‘Brabus’ editions— the Neutroclimat has the same standard equipment as the ‘Passion’ variant with the addition of power steering, plus Comfort and Audio options. The diesel CDI editions are characterized by leather upholstery and a dust and pollen filter.

epuis l’ouverture de la nouvelle boutique Céline à Monaco en mai 2006, l’amitié entre les deux sociétés n’a cessé de se renforcer. Ainsi, lors de chacun de nos événements, nous avons pu compter sur le précieux concours de la boutique Céline : cadeaux raffinés pour nos clients dans le cadre de jeux, défilés d’exception au Sporting ou dans le cadre de la banque UBS (Monaco) S.A… A chaque fois, ce fut spectaculaire et mémorable.

ince the new Celine boutique opened in Monaco in May 2006, the bond between the two companies has never ceased to strengthen. For this reason, we have been able to count on the valuable presence of the Celine boutique at every one of our events. This has been manifested by elegant gifts for our clients as part of competitions, fashion shows at the Sporting or with UBS Bank Monaco S.A… every occasion has been spectacular and memorable.

’art de vivre « made in Great-Britain » était à l’honneur à l’hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo, du 7 avril au 12 juin 2008. Une sélection de marques luxueuses y ont en effet offert, chacune à sa façon, leur vision de la « British Touch ». Pour Bentley, ce furent par la présence d’un Bentley Boy vêtu d’une combinaison de pilote des années 20’, venant à la rencontre des clients ; et par la présentation, à l’occasion d’une soirée de prestige, d’une édition limitée de « James Bond » revisité par Bentley pour le centenaire de l’auteur, Ian Flemming.

he ‘Made in Great-Britain’ lifestyle was honored at the hotel Métropole MonteCarlo from 7 April to 12 June 2008. A selection of luxurious brands gave their own vision of the ‘British Touch’. For Bentley this meant a Bentley Boy clothed in a pilot’s uniform from the 1920s who met clients, and during an exceptionally prestigious evening, a limited edition ‘James Bond’ especially created by Bentley to celebrate the centenary of author Ian Flemming.
