DISNEY CRUISE LINE

Inspired by the enchanting fairytales for which it is best known, Disney Cruise Line has unveiled design details for the fifth ship in its fleet.

Setting sail in June 2022, Disney Wish will feature a host of new spaces and experiences, each developed to the theme of enchantment. “Enchantment is about unlocking the wonder in everything we do and experience,” explains Laura Cabo, Portfolio Creative Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering. “For Disney Wish, we are creating a signature design language that exudes this emotional magic like only Disney can, by infusing every inch of this enchanted ship with more Disney stories and characters than ever before.”

At the heart of the ship is the Grand Hall, a fairytale castle-inspired atrium with Gothic, Baroque and French Rococo influences that give life to the columns, carvings and adornments. A bronze statue of Cinderella stands at the foot of a sweeping staircase, while nods to the princess’ carriage and glass slipper can be seen in the metalwork and crystal chandelier.

Bringing to life the characters of Disney, Pixar and Marvel adventures, facilities on board the ship include a Mickey & Friends-themed waterpark; a Frozen dining experience; an Alice-in-Wonderland cinema; and an adultsonly Star Wars bar. Also new for Disney Wish, the 1,254 staterooms follow a soft, dreamlike palette, with pixie-dusted furnishings, glittering gold-leaf headboard murals and framed artwork commissioned exclusively for the vessel. The rooms – the majority with ocean views – have been designed with families in mind and incorporate elevated beds, plenty of storage space and the signature split-bathroom concept with separate WC. There’s adjoining rooms for larger groups and four royal suites that celebrate the world of Sleeping Beauty, with some available in a two-storey configuration – the first of their kind for the Disney fleet.
