Keeping It Real

WRITTEN BY BLAIR FJESETH

I consider myself a good mom, but there are times when my career has to take center stage, as is the case for most, if not all, of us. Life has its ebbs and flows, and work/life balance seems to be a myth rather than a goal. It’s during these times that I notice and appreciate the moms who have more bandwidth and are willing to step up without being asked and, more importantly, without judgment.

This is for the moms who find the time within their day to take on things like PTA, classroom volunteering and playdates, the ones always offering to drive a kid home from practice if they notice a parent is tardy for pickup.

You know who you are, and this letter is for you.

Happy Valentine’s Day to the unsung heroes, the pillars of strength and the heart of a beautiful parenting village, as I have deemed you: the teamminded moms.

Your tireless efforts, unwavering support and love for other parents do not go unnoticed. Whether you do it intentionally or not, you embody what it means to create a nurturing, compassionate community for those navigating the beautiful yet challenging journey of parenthood.

You understand that motherhood isn’t just about raising your own children but also about uplifting and empowering fellow moms around you.

You effortlessly create a village—a tight-knit community where every mother feels seen, heard and supported. Your acts of kindness, whether big or small, help alleviate the burdens and struggles that come with raising children. From organizing playdates, leading the PTA and spearheading school/sport fundraising efforts to sharing invaluable advice and simply being there during tough times, your contributions create a safety net that allows others to thrive.

You embrace the concept that it takes a village to raise a child, and you go above and beyond to ensure that this village is filled with empathy, understanding and camaraderie. Your willingness to extend a helping hand and your genuine desire to support other moms in their journey is a testament to the incredible strength and compassion within you.

Acknowledging your impact is essential—as the positive ripple effect it creates spreads through our community, making it a better place to raise kids. Your selfless acts create a domino effect, inspiring others to pay it forward and create an endless chain of support and kindness.

As you continue to be the backbone of this beautiful parenting village, I want to express my deepest gratitude. Your generosity, empathy and unwavering support make this world a better place for every parent and child fortunate enough to be a part of your circle.

Happy Valentine’s Day from your not-secret admirers, other moms.
