Their tour schedule takes them around the western half of the US and they occasionally share the stage with the likes of Dierks Bentley, Barenaked Ladies, Blackhawk, and the Kentucky Headhunters. -------------------------------------- Yellowstone in Four Seasons Yellow-

stone has four seasons that can change at any time. Summer is for eating, fall is for mating, winter is for surviving and spring is for re-birth. But the vast common ground of any visit to Yellowstone, regardless of the season, is this: Mother Nature has worked

millions of years to sculpt this grand treasure, and her finest work is on display for us all to appreciate and enjoy. Yellowstone’s splendor lies in its solitude, it’s grandness, its complexity, and it’s simplicity. For thousands of years, this real life drama has performed the same four-act play over and over again. Airs 12/1 7pm; 12/4 12:30pm; 12/9 8:30pm; 12/24 1pm; and on Montana PBS Create 12/3 12:30pm; 12/8 6am; 12/11 10:30pm  History of Glacier National Park: Crown

of the Continent  By exploring its cultural and economic history, this documentary observes the human impact on Glacier, including what the future might hold for the park as its glaciers quickly vanish. Glacier was established as a national park on May 11, 1910, American’s 10th national park. Early newspapers touted its alpine scenery and numerus glaciers as reasons to visit the park. The park’s first planned road called for 15 switchbacks up the side of the mountain to get to and over Logan pass. But the final road, built in the late 1920s, left a much smaller footprint on nature with only one switchback and was cut into the rock cliffs. Today the Goingto-the-Sun Road is awarded one of the best mountain roads in America and is considered to be blueprint for merging man with nature. Airs 12/2 7pm; 12/5 10am; 12/8 3:30am; and on Montana PBS World 12/11 4pm  Charlie Russell’s Old West  No one

played a larger role in mythologizing the cowboy’s place in American culture than Charles M. Russell. Explore his art and life as he witnessed and documented the end of the Wild West open range, as America entered the 20th Century. Airs 12/3 2:30am; and on Montana PBS World 12/10 10am  Montana On My Mind  Montana on My

Mind celebrates the unique beauty and spirit of the last best state. A Timeless Legacy: Women Artists of Glacier National Park  In 1928, one would not expect to find a woman artist with an easel and forty-five pound pack on her back hiking alone through the spring snow of Glacier National Park to paint. But, for almost a century women have been coming this ruggedly beautiful place to capture the majesty of the landscape. Airs 12/8 2pm; 12/13 2am; 12/26 10am; 12/30 7pm

After 50 episodes, the awarding-winning Montana PBS series Backroads of Montana is announcing that long-time host William Marcus will be retiring. Marcus, a fixture on Montana Public Radio for years and the former director of the University of Montana Broadcast Media Center, has been the host of Backroads since it premiered in 1991. “There are many stories yet to be told, and many places yet to visit on Backroads. The show is certain to go on for years, ” Marcus said. “The 50th program after 30 years seems like a good point to pause and reflect on what’s next. And for me to step aside. I am immensely proud of the programs we’ve produced and grateful to the talented Backroads producers who have made it such a pleasure to be the ‘face’ of the program.”

Thanks, William. Wishing you the Very Best!

Backroads producer John Twiggs will assume the hosting role for episodes starting in 2022. “William leaves behind a legacy of excellence, ” said Twiggs. “We’re excited to continue that tradition and share more great Montana stories.” “John Twiggs understands the legacy, the impact and the potential of the program, ” Marcus said. “I look forward to watching.” Be sure to join William and John for some reminiscences and fond memories with lots of laughs as we watch the latest episode of Backroads, and take a look back at the past 30 years of Backroads of Montana. Glacier was established as a national park on May 11, 1910, America’s 10th national park. Early newspapers touted its alpine scenery and numerous glaciers as reasons to visit the park. The great Northern Railway future enticed visitors with new hotels, chalets, and horse trails through the back country. They invited American’s to “See America first” and to use their railway to get to Glacier. But Americans love for the automobile was growing and with that growth roads through the park were in demand. The first road planned called for 15 switchbacks up the side of the mountain to get to and over Logan pass. Walking Hadrian’s Wall with Robson Green SUNDAYS 6PM Also Wednesdays noon; Fridays 3am

Hadrian’s Wall, sometimes referred to as the Roman Wall, was a defensive fortification of the Roman province of Britannia, begun in AD 122 during the reign of the emperor Hadrian. Running 73 miles, completely across the island, a significant portion of the wall is still standing, and can be followed on foot along the adjoining Hadrian’s Wall Path. In “Walking Hadrian’s Wall, ” actor and host Robson Green treads in ancient footsteps as he makes the journey from Wallsend in the east of England to the isolated Cumbrian village of Bowness in the west. Along the way, Robson meets quirky characters, hears the lore, and visits nearby landmarks while taking in the dramatic landscapes of what he describes as “one of the greatest feats in construction history alongside the Pyramids and the Panama Canal.”

From manger scenes and mistletoe to wintry wonderlands, “Rick Steves’ European Christmas” celebrates the Christmas season throughout the European continent. Steves begins his travels in England, where the Christmas pudding is the real centerpiece of a traditional English holiday meal. In Paris, the Eiffel Tower heralds the season with its red, twinkling lights. And in the countryside of Tuscany, villagers stack neat pyramids of wood for great bonfires. The lighting of the fires is a signal to villagers — dressed as shepherds — to come and sing old carols. “Rick Steves’ European Christmas” offers a colorful, musical celebration of Christmas across Europe where we learn about customs from “the old countries, ” hear local choirs, and discover holiday family traditions.
