Medicaid Expansion: Insured or in Doubt? Airs 7pm Thursday, April 4
Also 7/7 10am; 4/8 2am It’s ideology versus insurance in the Montana Legislature this spring, as legislators decide how to continue health care coverage for nearly 100,000 Montanans. Nearing the end of its two-year trial run in Montana, Medicaid Expansion has provided federally-funded insurance to tens of thousands of Montanans, added 5,000 new healthcare jobs, and defied lawmakers’ expectations of how many people would fall under the umbrella of its coverage. But if that’s a good thing, depends who you ask. On one side of the aisle Medicaid Expansion is referred to as an ‘entitlement’ while on the other side it’s called a ‘basic right’. As the clock winds down on the 90-day legislative session and the sunset built into the original expansion looms closer, healthcare providers in the state’s largest and smallest hospitals keep apprehensive eyes on the legislature, afraid that expansion won’t be renewed, and millions of dollars of new revenue and thousands of new patients will be lost. Can state lawmakers come together to iron out an agreement that satisfies both parties and keeps coverage in place?

With her brother on her back a war weary Korean girl tiredly trudges by a stalled M-26 tank, at Haengju, Korea, 6/9/51.
Korea: The Never-Ending War Airs 8pm Monday, April 29
Also 5/1 1am, 4am This documentary is about a conflict that people worldwide have long underestimated, misunderstood and misrepresented, yet is still today instantly relevant. The film encompasses the present and past of the conflict, from today’s leaders and events—including U.S. President Donald Trump and Supreme Leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) Kim Jong Un—to historic personalities and moments of the past, such as the following individuals: • Joseph Stalin, Premier of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R.); • Harry S. Truman, President of the United States of America; • Mao Zedong, Chairman of the Communist Party of China, People’s Republic of China; • Kim Il Sung, Supreme Leader of North Korea; • and Syngman Rhee, the first and the last Head of State of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea (South Korea), and then President of South Korea. “The political realities at the center of today’s current conflict mirror those faced in 1950. It’s a delicate and dangerous political chess game with the threat of nuclear war hanging over the entire world,” said Maggio. “The Korean War was largely forgotten in this country, falling in the shadow of WWII and Vietnam, but the lessons of that war are never more important. This war is not officially over, and my hope is this film, told from the perspective of the men and women who fought and survived it, will shed new light on how we arrived here.”

Your Generosity Is Inspiring! A Special Thank You to Our Members… We just completed another very successful pledge drive and would like to sincerely thank everyone who provided support. Your generous contributions help with programs like The Bozeman Trail, John Denver: Country Boy, and Ken Burns: The National Parks, which celebrate the history, independent spirit, and beauty of Montana. These programs teach us and take us places we have never been before. More importantly, these programs are made available for all Montanans to enjoy. We know that a pledge drive can interrupt your regular routine, but we hope that you were able to enjoy one of the many concerts offered that you would be otherwise unable to attend, or maybe you were able to delight in highlights from more than 25 years of Backroads of Montana from the comfort of your own home. We are sincerely grateful to everyone who pledged during the March drive. Thank you for making public television in Montana a priority in your life! If you meant to pledge but have not yet, there is still time as we are accepting pledges through April 17th. Go to our website at www.montanapbs.org or please call us at 1-800-426-8243. Thank you for supporting MontanaPBS! MontanaPBS thanks RSVP volunteers!

Nature: American Spring LIVE Spring is one of nature’s greatest performances— a time of rebirth, renewed energy and dramatic transformations. Acclaimed news anchor Juju Chang will host the multi-platform event, with on-camera experts, including biologist Thor Hanson and entomologist Phil Torres, showing springtime phenomena in various locations across the country, in ecosystems ranging from the Rockies to the Everglades, from inner-city parks to remote wilderness preserves. The series will include a mix of live and pre-taped footage highlighting some of the most pivotal events in nature’s calendar. A diverse group of researchers and citizen scientists will investigate how a wide range of organisms respond to the change of seasons. They will share their insights into the natural world, reveal new technologies that make their discoveries possible and encourage audiences to join the adventure of science.
