WRITER'S LETTER HAPPY SEPTEMBER! School is BACK IN SESSION! Many big events are coming up, such as the Club Fair and Fall Rally North, which means it's a great time to start recruiting new members! To reach our district, division, and club goals, we are striving for at least 45 total members and 40 dues-paid members. We aren't sure what ASB is planning for our club fair, but we hope that we can still get new members. Please ask all of your friends to join Key Club and be sure to pay your dues to help us reach our goals!

4

Please take the next few weeks to stay active, even during school; division events are on weekends and we will try to do ongoing fundraisers/service projects to make sure everyone has a chance to participate! I love every single one of you and I hope you all stay active throughout the school year :) Serving with love,

Joyce Tong

PREZ'S LETTER HI MUSTANGS! School is back in session! I hope everyone is FIRED up for this new year! I know it may be tough right now having online learning and being stuck in quarantine, but keep your heads up! Remember POSITIVITY is KEY, like always. If you need any help or advice or just need someone to talk to, please

don't hesitate to talk to me or ask me for anything! I will try my very best to help and understand. You can also earn service hours by tutoring; if you need any tutoring right now, I know Joyce's office is available. Don't BURN too much stress into the school year guys and girls! You got this! Always keep a smile on your face, it looks best on you :) Burning with service,

Arizza Cristobal

JULY FUNDRAISER JUNIOR | JOYCE TONG In our first-ever Division fundraiser, I was proud to learn that I contributed to 40% of the revenue; to be exact, I spent $4. Nevertheless, this fundraiser was one of the most clever ideas I had ever heard. The next week, I received my boba from our LTG, Caroline, who had walked almost 5 miles in the burning August weather just to deliver to my house. It made me think about how grateful I am for everyone's sacrifices made for our division.

inspired by DNE Christine Oh's "Devils & Friends" newsletter segment

mustangs + more if you could have any animal as a pet, what would you choose?

I would want a ferret because they're cute and tiny. Kasarah Hills, Monte Vista

I would want a monkey because it can take care of daily activities that I would rather not do myself Sebastian Peng, Monte 10 Vista

I would like to have a baby groot. Baby groot is literally the best thing of all time, no offense to baby Yoda fans. He protects he attacks and he has the guardian of the galaxies’ backs. If I had a baby groot all the time I’d be impossible to ever be sad because I would finally have someone to jam to music with. This is literally the reason why baby groot is the most superior companion, no offense to my dog.

Katelyn Sun, Monte Vista

A llama because they are my spirit animal. They seem really friendly and I heard they sleep and eat food all day which is my typical lifestyle. Carter Soe, California

I would want an alpaca because they are so fluffy and cute.

Jiayu Zhan, Dougherty Valley

HIGH SCHOOL 101 BY JOYCE TONG

The days leading up to Sunday, August 9, were my most stressful all summer. I was the event chair of the High School 101 workshop, hosted by Monte Vista Key Club. As I scrambled to find presenters, helpers, and most importantly, incoming Freshmen to join this event, I also made seven presentations with speaker notes to ensure all Freshmen feel prepared for high school. After days and nights of making slideshows, presenter biographies, long emails, and numerous Google Forms, the event was finally ready to start. With my many helpers, we were able to lead an entire two-hour workshop and teach incoming Freshmen what we knew before we entered high school. The topics included was how to study for finals, stay healthy with online school, relieve stress, manage time, and maintain a good social life. After two and a half hours of hard work, I thanked my helpers, fellow presenters, and students and parents for taking time out of their Sunday. We were given the opportunity to teach and bond with other high schoolers wanting to learn the same ideas. For anyone who was unable to make it, use this newsletter to your advantage for some quick high school tips!
