Weekly Emergency In Full-Scale Exercise Gas Prices (November 4, 2019) Texas gas prices have fallen 1.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.26/g today, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 13,114 stations. Gas prices in Texas are 7.6 cents per gallon lower than a month ago, yet stand 22.9 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Texas is priced at $1.95/g today while the most expensive is $3.19/g, a difference of $1.24/g. The lowest price in the state today is $1.95/g while the highest is $3.19/g, a difference of $1.24/g. The cheapest price in the entire country today stands at $1.91/g while the most expensive is $5.49/g, a difference of $3.58/g. Neighboring areas and their current gas prices: Midland Odessa$2.34/g, down 1.1 cents per gallon from last week's $2.35/g. San Antonio- $2.19/g, up 1.3 cents per gallon from last week's $2.18/g. Austin- $2.20/g, down 1.3 cents per gallon from last week's $2.22/g. “While the national average gas price didn't show much of a significant trend either way, oil prices did jump last week on the solid jobs report and on news of a growing consensus that the U.S. and China have agreed to some form of a trade deal," said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy. "With such strong economic data, the picture is painted that we could see improving demand for oil and thus prices rising last week. While it may not be immediately noticed at the pump as gasoline demand continues to be weak in the off-season, it certainly could lead to a more noticeable impact next summer should nothing change until then. Ahead of Thanksgiving, last week's oil jump may derail falling gas prices, though we still may see prices drift lower, the good economic news means prices will not drop as much as they could have otherwise."
CONROE - Montgomery County Public Health District recently participated in a regional full-scale exercise to ensure its capability to handle a county-wide emergency. It is imperative the District is prepared to care for Montgomery County residents in an extreme
medicine and other medical supplies. Last week’s exercise tested the critical functions and response capabilities of MCPHD and regional partners within Department of State Health Service (DSHS) Public Health Region 6/5s to a simulated terrorist attack involving anthrax.

On November 3, 2019 at approximately 7:30 am the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 12900 block of Rose Road in Conroe, Texas in reference to deceased female. The female was found laying nude on the ground in the entranceway to a private property. Upon deputy’s arrival it was suspected foul play may have been involved and the Homicide/Violent Crimes Unit was called to the scene to continue the investigation. The victim has been identified as Leah Vaughn, a 50-year-old white female from Coldspring, Texas. This is an active investigation and the cause and manner of death is still under investigation at this time pending results from a forensic examination and toxicology report. Annual Christmas In Historic Montgomery Set For December 14, 2019 — Where The Holidays Begin!
By Bea Rouse Montgomery County’s oldest Christmas celebration has activities you won’t find anywhere else—A great day full of events to create memories and fun for each family member, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Montgomery Historical Society, founded in the 1950s, produces this, its only fundraising event, with proceeds going toward maintaining the seven historic buildings owned by the Society. The community and especially the Montgomery Independent School District fully support this historic experience by sponsoring specific aspects from the many school and civic groups participating in the parade to providing festive cookies and candies for the Famous Cookie Walk. The National Charity League staging the Cookie Walk, the Masonic Lodge No. 25 monitors the parade, there will be local musical entertainment, and historically costumed volunteers hosting in the home tour. The day begins with the ever-popular Breakfast with Santa at the Living Savior Lutheran Church, 309 Pond St., from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., for children and adults, plus photos with Santa. A great shopping opportunity is the Holiday Marketplace--Arts & Crafts on the grounds of the Community Center on Liberty at College Streets, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is the place to find unusual and one-of-a-kind gifts and holiday decorations, many handcrafted, and at great prices. The Madrigals, carolers from Montgomery
High School, will add to the holiday cheer strolling in the historic district. Besides the restaurants’ extended hours, there will be vendors offering food, snacks, beverages. Our many antique stores, boutiques and specialty shops will also have extended hours to accommodate our visitors. The old-fashioned parade begins to wind through downtown at 11 a.m., where several hundreds of people wait with anticipation on blankets and lawn chairs along the downtown route. Civic, school, and church groups go all out, creating floats, vying to win one of several awards. As always, the May Family will ask Ronald McDonald to be in the parade. The showmanship and decorating competition is always tough to impress the judges for one of several awards. This year’s parade theme is “A Lone Star Christmas.” Of course, Santa’s arrival is the last float in the parade! The parade route will be different to prevent the floats from getting bogged down turning corners on the narrow streets. (Parade route maps will be posted.) Parade participants, please note that, for safety purposes, candy and other things can no longer be through from the parade. Participants are encouraged to create small plastic bags with a few pieces of candy AND business cards or other business and non-profit information, logos, even coupons to be handed by walkers after Santa’s float passes. Before the end of the parade, folks will start to line up for this the 28th Annual Cookie Walk, inside the Community Building, where the doors will be open Noon to 5 p.m. Visitors are handed a plastic glove and box to choose from the many trays of decorative cookies, candies and gingerbread houses displayed throughout the building. The goodies are weighed for payment at the exit door. Children are often seen sitting just outside the door munching away on delicious sweets. This popular and remarkable event was begun by the late, w o n d e r f u l l a d y, R e b a Laughter, and it was featured in the 1999 issue of Southern Living magazine. The Montgomery Chapter of the National Charity League handles this huge event from start to finish. They collect the confections donated by the parents of Montgomery students and other area residents, service groups and businesses, then decorate the building and tables. This wonderful mother/daughter group arranges the goodies on trays and replenish trays from when the doors open at noon until the cookies are gone or it is time to close the doors at 5 p.m. This dedicated group of ladies then clears everything out of the building. Any leftover cookies are packaged and delivered to nursing homes in the area. (Persons wanting to donate homemade decorative cookies or candies can package or box them in disposable
containers and deliver to the Community Building on Liberty Street on Friday, December 13.) The 42nd Candlelight Home Tour, from 4 to 8 p.m., is the finale of this festive day where private homes and historic buildings will be beautifully decorated for the holidays. The residents of the private homes on the tour spend many days decorating their historic homes from top to bottom. A dozen historic buildings such as the N.H. Davis Pioneer Complex & Museum, the Arnold-Simonton House and the log cabins at Fernland Historical Park, Old Post Office & Drug Store (now open as Modern Ranch House Antiques), The Oaks of Montgomery (Antique Consignments), Addison-Gandy Home, Old Methodist Church (now Living Savior Lutheran Church), the Old Baptist Church (now Montgomery Church of Christ), and several privately-owned historical homes—all within a few blocks of each other. The luminaries lead to many of the homes along the narrow residential streets. For safer walking after dark, bring a flashlight! The strolling carolers, residents in Victorian dress, coupled with the historic buildings will make visitors feel they have stepped back to the mid-1800’s when Montgomery was the county seat. With cold and flu season here, not to mention numerous other nasties such as the stomach bug going around, it seems a good idea to consider making a batch of homemade health tonic. MASTER TONIC RECIPE 1/2 cup chopped and peeled fresh ginger 1/2 cup chopped and peeled fresh turmeric 1/2 cup chopped and peeled fresh horseradish 1/2 cup chopped garlic 1/2 cup chopped white onion 1/2 cup chopped HOT peppers {I used jalapeño,
go as hot as you can tolerate} Zest and juice of 2 lemons Apple cider vinegar {organic, with the ‘mother’} 1. Use all organic ingredients if you can find it…the less chemicals, the better. Bonus if you grow some of the ingredients yourself!! 2. Add all of your chopped ingredients into a glass jar. I used a 1-gallon glass jar and it was about half full. 3. Cover with ACV. Some of the pieces will float to the top- use a plate, a f e r m e n t i n g weight…something to hold the bits under the ACV to prevent any spoilage. The chunky ingredients will absorb some liquid and expand, so make sure to top
it off to account for this. 4. Let this tonic sit at room temperature for 2-4 weeks to infuse. If you want to shake it up during this time and you are using a metal lid- make sure you have a barrier between the vinegar and the metal such as wax or parchment paper to avoid corrosion. 5. After it has infused for at least 2 weeks, strain out the solids and store in a glass container. This will store indefinitely at room temperature. 6. The remaining chopped herbs and veggies can be used in other dishes to add flavor if you like. I fed mine to the chickens hoping they get an immunity boost too! If you would like to take this as a preventative measure, 1 tablespoon a day is a commonly used amount. If you’re feeling under the weather, take 1 – 3 tablespoon 3-4 times a day until healthy. You can also add raw, local honey to taste if you need a bit of sweetness. So how does it taste? Not bad! It tastes better than it smells…sour and spicy. I have not tried it mixed with honey yet, but I think raw honey is one of the best things to take when you are sick. The Master Tonic keeps forever, so make it now before you need it! This tonic is extremely powerful because all the ingredients are fresh. Its power should not be underestimated. This
formula is a modern-day plague remedy and can cure the most chronic conditions and stubborn diseases. It stimulates maximum blood circulation while putting the best detoxifying herbs into the blood. The tonic remedy is not just for the sniffles; it has helped to turn around the deadliest infections resistant to antibiotics and can be used in combination with conventional treatments as necessary. For ordinary infections, a dose taken 5-6 times a day will deal with most conditions. It can be used during pregnancies, is safe for children (use smaller doses). It is important to only use fresh ingredients, not dried, and preferably organic. If one of the ingredients is not available (fresh horseradish is difficult during certain times of the year), then substitute another hot pepper such as habanero. In about 80% of cases the flu leaves a lingering cough behind. This can last a few weeks in children or a few months in adults. To help combat this a few homemade remedies can be a tremendous help. Elderberry Syrup is at the top of the list. Small doses throughout the day kept mucous to a minimum, which reduced the severity and frequency of coughing spells at night. Elderberry syrup is not just good for when you are sick either. It is a highly effective preventative too as it is loaded with antioxidants, Vitamin C and immune-supporting minerals. Scientific research is supportive of the use of elderberries for illness. In one study, elderberry extract inhibited several strains of influenza and reduced symptoms. Another study found that elderberry syrup flavonoids were effective against the H1N1 (Swine Flu) virus. In the most compelling study, a randomized trial of 60 patients aged 18-54 suffering from flu symptoms for 48 hours or less received 15 ml (3 teaspoons) of elderberry syrup or a placebo 4x per day for five days. Researchers observed that “Symptoms were relieved on average 4 days earlier and the use of rescue medication was significantly less in those receiving elderberry extract compared with placebo”. You can buy this at Farmers Markets or Health Food Stores but it is expensive and making your own is easy and just as effective. A single teaspoon of homemade elderberry syrup once or twice a day is sufficient as a preventative measure. If illness strikes, use more as necessary, with up to 3 teaspoons, 4x per day as used in the randomized study
described above. For children under 1 the honey makes it a no-go but you can substitute date syrup for the honey in the recipe. Also, pregnant women should consult their doctor, Ingredients * 3 cups filtered water * 1.5 cups raw honey preferably local – check out the feed store on Hwy 149 just south of 105 for this. * 1.5 cups dried elderberries (or 2-3 cups fresh) preferably organic – I order mine on Amazon Instructions 1. Place dried elderberries (or fresh, ripe elderberries if you have them locally) and filtered water in a medium saucepan. 2. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer on medium-low for 30 minutes. The liquid will reduce by about one-third. 3. Remove pan from heat and mash the elderberries to release any remaining juice. 4. Strain the mixture using a really fine mesh strainer This mixture will last many months in the refrigerator. A cool, dark pantry is also a great place to store it. The raw honey acts as a natural preservative.

A friend in Mexifornia sent me this limited list, but it runs true to these candidates and questionable leaders’ promises. BEWARE! this could happen if the Democrat blue-collar middleclass workers don’t wise-up to the lies they have been constantly told by their leaders and the fake multimedia in this country! Folks, just think about the reality of just these few things that couldn’t happen if the Democrats won the 2020 election. Democrat Platform Suggestions for 2020: (1.) Fred Stevens, a welder, and Joe Frisco, a bartender, neither of whom went to college, will have to pay off the student loans
for Eric, an Art History major and Emma, a Gender Studies major, because they cannot get jobs. (Elizabeth Warren). (2.) Yusef Hussein, who killed 23 children by bombing their school, will be allowed to vote from prison. (Bernie Sanders). (3.) Grace Thompson, who worked hard for 47 years, must give up her employer furnished medical plan and join the National Health plan. (The whole slate). (4.) La'Darius Washington, who has never had a regular job, will receive a monthly income from the federal government to spend as he pleases. (Amy Klobuchar). (5.) Billy White, age 16, who has trouble with subject/verb agreement in English class, still has trouble with fractions in math class, and who thinks Judge Judy is on the Supreme Court, will get to vote. (Kirsten Gillibrand). (6.) Stan Billings, an avid deer hunter, will have his semi-automatic rifle (fires one shot each time you pull the trigger) taken away, or go to jail, because it looks like an AR 15. (Eric Swalwell). (7.) Sven Johannson, whose grandfather immigrated to the US in 1953, will have to pay reparations to Sha'lyndia Jefferson because she THINKS her great-great-great grandfather MIGHT HAVE BEEN A S L AV E ! ! ! (8.) Thomas Finch, who is an ambitious and motivated adult, cannot get a job because he doesn't want to join a labor union. (Kamala Harris). (9.) Sammy Thomas, a farmer, will no longer be able to haul his crops to market in his 3/4-ton diesel pick-up, but will have to make 43 trips in his Toyota Prius. (The whole slate). (10.) The population of the US will become 76.4% Hispanic because all of the existing border wall will be torn down. (Beto O'Rourke). [PLEASE NOTE}. Senator Elizabeth Warren at this time is the leadingD emocrat and promises FREE HEALTH CARE FOR EVERYONE – {includes all illegal immigrants}. The estimated cost will be $50trillion dollars which will put the United States into the fourth world ‘Banana Republic’ category only one this item. Publicly challenged Senator Warren promises, “that this Free Health Care for Everyone will not cost the individual one red cent!” Unfortunately. Senator Warren in debates, radio and television interviews has NO explanation of how the American Taxpayer will pay for this fraudulent lie. Additionally, Senator Elizabeth Warren promises that to pay for all the things she plans to give FREE to everyone she
promises that she will tax heavily the “Billionaire Owners” of all the major corporations, “Blue-Chip” and all those on a low tax rate. Warren is greatly ignorant of the fact that this will destroy the future savings of the retirees and middle-class retirement funds related to these corporations. Senator Warren does not understand that all the corporations are not owned by single “targetedBillionaires!” SeventyTwo (72%) of the major corporations in America and the “DOW” Wall Street Market Funds are owned by the middle-class investors not the Big-Shot” Billionaires. If Senator Elizabeth Warren or any of those loser candidates supported
by the corrupt National Democrat Party actually beat Donald Trump in the coming election, the economic progress created by him will disappear and the United States’ economy will collapse and send us into a 4th class “Banana Republic” category. In my opinion, none of the present-day Democrat Candidates for President are in any way qualified to be President of the United States! I think the National Democrat Party will realize that and “pullout” whoever wins the Democrat Nomination, and put in a “Ringer!” A Ringer is someone that is highly qualified as a contender with the realistic chance of winning! The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Judge Nathaniel Hart Dais Chapter, were blessed to HONOR OUR VETERANS at their recent meeting held at the Carriage Inn in Conroe! Speaker Pat Thibodeau, a retired Military Veteran dressed in her US Navy uniform, presented an outstanding program: “Old Soldiers Armed Chair Patriotism”! Mrs Thiebodeau served in her last and “highest” rank as PO1 in the United States Navy reserve. Her most memorable assignment was Vietnam Baby Air Lift, phase 2, out of Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. She was the first woman in the Air Force to teach Air Traffic Control Radar Repair. Mrs. Thibodeau has won numerous awards for her work in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and is the current TXDAR District 111 Director. She received the Yellow Rose of Texas Award from Governor Abbott in 2016 and was awarded the USD 1812 Excellence in American History Award in 2017. During her military career she received the Air Force Commendation Medal; Airman of the Year 3395th Squadron. Shelly Lane, President of the Judge Nathaniel Hart Davis DRT chapter and the members of the chapter were blessed to have Mrs. Thibodeau speak and to honor the many Veterans who are residents at The Carriage Inn in Conroe, where the DRT chapter meets each month.

My Five Cents Texas State Senator
Robert Nichols I am very grateful for many things in November…my family, friends, and hunting season. I am also grateful for the opportunity to represent Senate District 3 in Austin as your State Senator. As y o u c e l e b r a t e Thanksgiving, I wish you a holiday filled with family, friends and lots of pumpkin pie or pecan pie (which is the state pie of Texas!). Here are five things happening around your state this month: 1 . M a s s Vi o l e n c e Prevention The Select Committee on Mass Violence Prevention and Community Safety met at the end of October to
discuss how the role of digital media, dark web networks and overall cultural issues may play a part in the promotion of mass violence. House Public Education Hearing The Texas House Public Education Committee recently held a hearing to examine the implementation of House Bill 3, which provided approximately $11.6 billion to school districts across the state. They examined ways the bills language might have created hardships and/or unexpected increases or decreases in funding for school districts. Superintendents in Senate District 3 brought to my attention a complication in funding in regards to enrolling their students in career and technology courses. It is important to me to stay in touch with the school districts within Senate District 3 to ensure that I have an understanding of how the bills we pass in Austin affect those they were meant to help. The
Legislature will continue to monitor House Bill 3 throughout the interim and will be able to address m a n y o f t h e s e c o ncerns/issues in the next legislative session. 3. Interim Charges Lieutenant Governor Patrick recently released interim charges for all of the standing Senate committees. As the Legislature only meets in odd-numbered years for 140 days, there is a limited amount of time for all issues to be addressed. Because of this, the Legislature uses interim charges as a way to study and examine the different sides of an issue, review legislation previously passed, provide suggestions for solutions and begin work on potential legislation for the next session. Over the next year, committees will hold hearings to discuss these
interim charges. Some of these charges include examining best practice models for recruiting, preparing and retaining teachers, examining and determining ways to improve health care services in rural areas and medically underserved areas, as well as examining the adequacy of long-term health care services and support options for veterans in Texas. 4. Explore Our State We are lucky to live in a state that covers so much area and includes various types of scenery from the coastal plains of Corpus Christi to the high plains of Amarillo, to the pine trees in East Texas and the mountains in El Paso. As the holidays approach and you begin to plan trips with your family and friends, I hope you will consider making one of those trips within our great state. As
our state is so large, it can often be overwhelming to know where to go. Veterans Day Veterans Day, which was originally known as Armistice Day, commemorated the ending of World War I in 1918. In 1954, President Eisenhower changed the name to ensure all U.S. Veterans were included. On Monday, November 11th, we will pay tribute to all American veterans and their services to our country. If you have a Veteran in your life, I encourage you to honor and thank them for the sacrifices they made to ensure we have our freedom.
Brady Statement on October 2019 Jobs Report Washington, D.C. – The top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement in response to the Labor Department’s October 2019 jobs report: “With 128,000 jobs added in October, this is a solid report that shows
workers continue to be the driver in this strong economy. Despite some outside factors, including the GM auto strike, this economy continues to add jobs at a record pace under this new tax code – with upward revisions being added to the two previous months and wages rising at a solid pace.
“It is American families who are benefiting the most from this growth, and growth needs to remain our biggest focus. We have the tools ready: let’s pass USMCA without delay and work to make these middle-class and small business tax cuts permanent. This economic expansion needs to
continue, and House Republicans are working hard to achieve just that.” Note: The U.S. Department of Labor reported today that the economy added 128,000 jobs in October. The unemployment rate remained historically low at 3.6 percent.

How refreshing to have the first cool blast of winter after an extremely hot summer! Even Jesus needed refreshment from walking the rocky and dusty roads of Jerusalem. Being very tired, He would go often to the house of Mary and Martha to rest and relax from His days of helping the very sick, lame,
and blind people. There is physical refreshing and then there is spiritual refreshing. Jesus would go up to a nearby mountain where He and the disciples would bed down for the night. Then He would go a bit higher to be with His Father and pray for renewed strength as He continued His ministry each day. No matter when or where it is, we also need that time of prayer and personal talking with the Lord each day to be refreshed and renewed in our spirit. It could be day or

night, but being with the Lord God and in His presence is a priority and pleasure in this harsh and busy world. Let’s go to the Psalms and see why that would be good for us: “The righteous man will sprout like the palm tree. He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God…yield fruit in old age…to declare that the Lord is upright. He is my rock and there is no unrighteousness in Him.” Psalm 92: 12, 13, 14a, and 15.
As we give our time and our life to the Lord, He is gracious and merciful to see to our every need. From the time we rise every morning, God is there for those who love Him and are called according to His purposes for our lives. So, we can wake each morning, spend time in our “war room,” and know God will be renewing our spirit to face any obstacle that may arise during the day. I give Him thanks every day for anyone He places in my daily path that I might help along the way. For instance, one
morning while shopping in a department store, I found a shirt in one of my favorite colors – purple. There were hardly any customers around, so only one cashier was available. I put the shirt on the counter, and she told me purple was her favorite color. I remarked “Yes, it’s mine, too. You know, purple is a royal color, like heavenly.” Her eyes lit up, and she laughed as she told me this: “ You know, I’ve been waiting all morning for somebody I could talk to about God. And here you are!” So God had answered both of our prayers.
That’s just one tiny story in many we may have as we are renewed each morning. We never know who God may place in our path. Just remember: God is with us. He is for us. He equips us to do His bidding. And, He wants all to come to know Him because He made each one of us for a special purpose. So, be refreshed, be renewed, and always be aware of His Presence.

Pet Talk: Eating Your Greens: The Basics of Cat Grass COLLEGE STATION, Nov. 1, 2019 – When confronted with the topic of healthy eating, we, as humans, are frequently reminded of the importance of including daily greens in our diets. Does your cat’s diet need the same? Dr. Lori Teller, a clinical associate professor at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, discusses the basics of cat grass that every cat owner should know. “Cat grass isn’t any one type of grass but can be a combination of grasses,
such as rye, barley, oat, and wheat,” Teller said. “Cat owners can buy kits at many stores to grow cat grass for their kitties.” Most owners don’t need to rush to the store to purchase this grass for their pet cat, however, as it is not always necessary to complete their diet. “Cat grass is not a required part of a cat’s diet if the food they are eating is well-balanced, but it is something that many cats e n j o y, ” Te l l e r s a i d . “Especially for indoor cats, it can be a source of environmental enrichment. In some cases, it may
provide some micronutrients, such as vitamins A and D.” The reasons cats seek out such grass are still unclear. Though veterinarians have yet to come to a consensus on one definit i v e a n s w e r, s e v e r a l theories exist. “One theory is that cat grass is a source of fiber that can either act as a mild laxative or trigger vomiting,” Teller said. “When cats lived in the wild, they may have eaten grass to trigger vomiting to rid their stomachs of the nondigestible parts of the prey they ingested. It is also
thought that the chlorophyll contained in the grass could serve as a mild pain reliever and help keep the cat’s breath fresh.” Teller also advises that owners shouldn’t be nervous about introducing cat grass to their pet’s environment, even if it something their pet hasn’t yet encountered. “For outdoor cats, homegrown cat grass will be safer than what they may nibble on outside because those plants may have been exposed to chemicals or water contaminated with bacteria that may cause d i s e a s e , ” Te l l e r s a i d .
“While it would not be dangerous to have the cat grass freely available, if a cat seems to eat it voraciously, then it may be worth consulting with a veterinarian to determine if the cat’s diet is meeting all of its nutritional needs.” Owners residing in multiple-pet households can also be assured that cat grass is likely a safe addition to their home. “It is not likely that cat grass would be a problem for other animals in the household,” Teller said. “The bigger concern would be if a cat or other animal confused cat grass with
other plants in the home that are potentially toxic. It is important to keep those plants out of reach of any pets.” Ultimately, the decision to introduce cat grass to a feline friend is up to their owner. As always, cat owners should consult with their veterinarian if they are concerned about nutritional deficiencies in their cat’s diet. By Lew McCreary Born in Brookline, Mass., Peter graduated from high school in 1959 where he already had obtained his pilot’s license. He joined the army reserve and later the USAF in the early 60’s. Thirty-four years later he had accumulated a great deal of satisfaction serving on active duty. Why did he join the air force? Because he somehow foreknew, he would enjoy the military and as it played out…his hunch had been spot on. In regard to deployments, as a pilot of large transports such as the C-123’s, C-130’s and the mighty C-5A Peter took part in more than thirty flights worldwide in scope that took him to numerous military bases and was always part of strategic and usually risky military operations. WW2 still is the biggest event in human history and veterans of that world war are now in their 90’s so please thank them at every opportunity.
turboprop was designed and built by Lockheed and capable of using unprepared runways for take-offs and landings. It was originally designed as a troop, medivac and cargo transport aircraft. The versatile airframe has found uses in a variety of roles…including as a gunship (A-130) for airborne assault, search and rescue, scientific research support weather recon, aerial refueling, patrol and firefighting. It is currently the main tactical airlifter for many military forces the world over. Peter’s civilian pilot license was secured while attending Westover Mary’s High School and he completed his pilots training at Atlas Air Force Base, followed by numerous other aircraft training schools that included various safety and maintenance training
sessions. Earlier his boot camp was completed at Fort Dix, NJ and he proceeded to use his skills by applying them all over the world in various destinations located on just about every continent. Peter often took part in NATO operations…and also experienced five tours in Vietnam. As a jump start for his military career, he previously had attended many reserve safety schools and summer camps in training for what was ahead…strategic schooling that helped determine his ultimate MOS. To say the very least his training in army reserve schools always proved to be very advantageous. While in the air force in the early and mid ‘60’s much of his training was received at Westover AFB. By 1962 he made his first l a n d i n g i n V i e tnam…followed by in excess of seven more in later years…on a spotty basis. Much later in the early 90’s he flew into Iraq during Desert Storm…as well as dozens of other major and significant deployments that followed over the years, including relief trips into Haiti because of a horrific hurricane…and also missions to Labrador as m e n t i o n e d e a rlier…numerous NATO exercises. Peter also took part in the Iraq War late in the 80’s and early 90’s and by that time had experienced a virtual pilot overdose. So, when they were shot down over Vietnam by ground fire and crashed into a tree (that split their plane in pieces), both pilot and co-pilot walked away understandably relieved and grateful. They both maintained that a
supernatural voice helped direct them to South Korean ground troops (ROKs) and fortunately were then rescued by “friendlies”. Having been a Christian for several prior years Peter was
