Presenters will offer treatment conceptualizations based on the scientifically proven fact that trauma is held in the body and that the body must be included in the healing process for treatment to be all-encompassing and thorough. Awareness of the interconnectedness between the cognitive, emotional, spiritual and physical domains of a client is essential in assisting a client to bring healing into their lives. Interventions from CBT, Attachment Theory, EMDR, Mindfulness, Polyvagal Theory, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy will be discussed which research underpinnings of all shared.

Peer-led Intervention in Healing Trauma & Addiction This breakout session will focus on the healing of addiction and trauma through a peer-led intervention. The session will provide information on the value of peer-based recovery supports, particularly within a community-based setting, as well as healing within the context of drumming.
