Where Is The Elephant?

Dave Baxter (based on an idea by Tom Armstrong) An Adult Children’s Story

A long time ago on a day called Yesterday, two friends were talking About things that were wrong with The World.

Things did not seem very nice!

The world was a dark and ugly place. Monsters hid in every corner (not that there are many corners in a globe shape).

Men and women were arguing with one another!

AND Kids were beating each other up because they could! The whole world was spinning out of control.

People did not know what was

HAPPENING !!!!!!!!

Far away in a mystical land called Every Which Way sat a group of very wise men and women. They talked for hours and hours about the trouble the world was in. Because they knew things!

The wise men and women were always keeping an eye on what was happening in the world and were always ready to offer some kind advice if they thought that people needed it. Today they felt that this was just one of those times. So they sat very still and sent loving thoughts onto the earth on the back of a beautiful rainbow.

Auntie Helen and Uncle Jim, had just eaten a great big meal and were both relaxing. But they were not alone! There was someone else with them.

There was an elephant in the room but they had not seen it! Suddenly the rainbow landed on earth making Auntie Helen and Uncle Jim jump. Auntie Helen dropped her book and Uncle Jim sat upright and almost banged his head on the elephant’s trunk. Screams echoed around the room “Jim there’s an elephant in the room!” screamed Auntie Helen and the elephant just sat on the floor smiling a knowing smile.

The rainbow broke into a number of pieces and each piece hit Auntie Helen and Uncle Jim. “You saw the elephant but what does it mean?” said Uncle Jim Auntie Helen replied “It means we are not seeing the things that are staring us in the face. There are lots of things wrong in the World but we are doing nothing about it” “We need to look at ourselves first and put the things right about us before the World can get better” she said. “I feel very different now” said Uncle Jim, “I feel lots of love and want to pass it on” AND GUESS WHAT?

THEY DID!
