Glenwood MemorialPark

GlenwoodMemorialPark(circa1940s)isconsidered Mooresville’ssignaturecemetery.Itissituatedon28.86acres justoutsideofthedowntownareainaquietresidentialdistrict. Thepositioningofthecemeteryawayfromhigh-traffic roadwaysandnestledbetweenneighborhoodsaffordsvisitors aserenesetting.

Inadditiontoofferingspacesfortraditionalandcremation burials,Glenwoodofferscolumbariaforinurnmentsanda nofcremains.Thecemetery arkersareflushwiththe eappearance.

GreenAcres Cemetery

Green Acres Cemetery (circa 1959) consists of 2.32 acres just outside the Cascade neighborhood. The cemetery features flat bronzeandstonemarkersinaquietsettingamongabackdrop oftreesandnaturalvegetation.

WillowValley Cemetery

Willow Valley Cemetery (circa 1885) is Mooresville’s oldest official cemetery and consists of 9.16 acres of rolling land in downtown Mooresville. Many of the graves pre-date the Town itself. Many notable figures from the town’s past are interred here including John Franklin Moore, for whom the town is named.WillowValleyfeaturestraditionalandcremationburials, uprightmonuments,andflatmarkers.

Cemeterystaffwill,whenpossible,meetyouwithoutanappointment eitherintheofficeoratthecemetery Ininstanceswherean appointmenthasbeenmadeandyouarelate,thestaffmemberwill waitfor15minutesaftertheappointmenttimebeforeleaving,and youwillneedtorequestanotherappointment Thesubsequent appointmentmayormaynotbeonthesamedaydependingon schedulingandmayresultinadelayofservice.

BurialRights

Whenpurchasingagravespace,youarepurchasingburialrights. ThisisaconveyancegrantedbytheTowntousethisspaceforthe burialofhumanremainsandisnotapurchaseofpropertyinthe cemetery.TheTownremainstheownerofalllandwithinthe cemeteryandgovernsacceptableuse

ProofofOwnership

Youmustproveyourburialrightsofagraveornichebypresentinga legaldocument(ie Deed,LetterofTestamentary,orlastwillor testamentofDeedHolder).Ifyouareunabletolocatethenecessary paperworktoproveownershipofapurchasedgraveorniche,you maycompleteanInterment/InurnmentAuthorizationFormavailable intheCemeteriesOffice.Thisformisprovidedsoyoumayclaim legalauthoritytoauthorizetheuseofthegraveorniche.Theform mustbecompleted,signed,andnotarizedatwhichtimeitwillbe treatedasaDeclarationofReservation.

DeclarationofReservationRevocationorAmendment

Ifyouwanttolegallyrevokeoramendthepersonnamedona DeclarationofReservationforagraveornicheinaTown-owned cemetery,youmaydosobysubmittingtotheCemeteriesOfficea notarizedRevocationandAmendmentofDeclarationofReservation formavailableintheCemeteriesOffice.

Disinterment/Disinurnment

Insomecircumstances,casketedorcrematedremainsmay needtoberemovedfromgraves.Ifyouarerequesting disinterment/disinurnment,youmustapplytotheCemeteriesOffice atleastoneweekbeforeservicesareperformed.Youmustalso submitproperdocumentationissuedbytheIredellCountyHealth Departmentatthetimeofapplication

Markersand Monuments

GeneralInformation

TheTowndoesnotfurnish,sell,orinstallanytypeofmarkeror monuments,exceptforscrollsattheScatteringGarden.Youmay choosetoplaceamarkerormonumentonagraveinTown cemeteries.Thesearenotmandatory,butifthisoptionischosen, certainrequirementsmustbemetasoutlinedintheCemeteries Ordinance.

SupervisionPermits

YoumustpurchaseaSupervisionPermitformarkerinstallations SupervisionPermitsensurethatthemarker/monumentisonthe correctgraveandinstalledproperly.Thisfeeispaidtothe CemeteriesOfficeandthepermitisissuedtothepayerortothe monumentcompanyofyourchoice.

Liability

TheTownassumesnoresponsibilityfordamageorlossregarding markers,monuments,vases,orornamentationatgraves

RulesofConduct Cemeteries

FollowingarethegeneralRulesofConductfortheCemeteries. AdditionalrulesmaybefoundinChapter8–Cemeteries,inthe CodeofOrdinancesfortheTownofMooresville.

Cemeteryvisitinghoursarefromsunrisetosunsetdaily.

Vehiclesmaynotbedrivenataspeedgreaterthanconditions allow,butnotmorethan15milesperhouratanytime Petsarepermittedbutmustremainonaleashnolongerthansix feetinlength.

Petownersareresponsibleforappropriatelyremovingtheirpet’s wastefromthecemeterygrounds.

Nolightingofanytypeispermittedinthecemeteries.

Landscapinginstallationandmaintenancemayonlybe performedbyTownstaff.Thisincludestheplantingoftrees, shrubs,andflowers.

Anyitemsnotinapermanentlyinstalledvasewillberemoved anddiscardedbyTownstaff.

Noballoons,windspinners,glass,orceramicitemsareallowed. Nosigns,notices,oradvertisementsareallowedinTown cemeteriesunlessplacedbytheTown.

Anyornamentationdeemedunsightlyornotsuitablewillbe removedbyTownstaff.

Notobaccoproductsorvapingwithinthecemeterygrounds. NofirearmsorotherweaponsexceptasdescribedinChapter8 oftheCodeofOrdinances
