Adding a cut flower garden to your yard brings colorful interest, butterflies, bees and hummingbirds and direct access to beautiful bouquets all summer long. If you've been looking for an easy cut flower garden plan or are new to starting one, this course is for you. In this class we will plan a 4 x 8 garden with a variety of cut flowers, however you can pick any size that works for you and your yard. This series will be divided into 4 modules: Planning; What flowers are easy to grow and why; Soil Preparation; Care and Maintenance. Supplies included: planning paper, handouts, seed packets

Resilient Yard Series: Make and Paint Rain Barrel Workshop
Create a resilient yard to sustain the Red River by making and painting your own rain barrel. This is a two-day workshop. On day one, participants will hear a short presentation about the basics of water quality and the effects of stormwater runoff, then sand and put a base coat on their barrel. The second day, participants will build and paint their rain barrel. Come prepared to bring home an empty 55-gallon barrel. Wear clothes you don't mind painting in and dress for the weather. Participants need a drill to install the rain barrel at home. Fee includes all other supplies.

Resilient Yard Series: Make Your Own Compost Tumbler Workshop
Create a resilient yard to sustain the Red River by making your own compost tumbler. In addition to building your own compost tumbler, this workshop includes a presentation to learn the basics of composting and how to construct various composting systems. Come prepared to carry home an empty 55-gallon compost tumbler. The barrel may be white or blue. Class fee includes all other supplies. Bring drill (corded or cordless) and 3/8” bit to class if you have them. Instructors will have several drills and bits for participants to share.

Learn how to transform a section of your yard into a native garden that will attract pollinators. This workshop is designed for beginners and focuses on what constitutes a pollinator habitat, the importance of landscaping with native plants and the process of installing a garden from start to finish. A select number of native plants will be discussed. Participants will leave with the beginning of their design plan and a pollinatorfriendly kit to get started.
