Lydford Summer Fair is to make a welcome return Lydford Summer Fair, incorporating Safety on Dartmoor Day, returns on Saturday, July 9. Between 11am and 4pm at Lydford Sports Field, the fair will feature over 30 stalls and plenty of entertainment - including games, a dog show, and a display from Hoopers Display Team showing dogs and owners of all ages and fitness levels navigate hoops, barrels and tunnels. The climbing wall will be returning, as well as various stalls with arts, crafts, bric a brac and local produce. There will be games, a bouncy castle, ice cream, candy floss, cream teas and barbecue. There will be a raffle where a host of prizes are up for grabs including a ride for two people in a hot air balloon (restrictions and weather permitting) and the Margaret Green Foundation (Wingletang) will be running the ever
popular dog show with rosettes to be won, from 2pm. Emergency Services will also be on hand to discuss and answer any questions on the valuable work that they do in and around Dartmoor.
The Western region of the British Balloon Club will be returning for its annual meet, and will be carrying out morning and evening fly outs throughout the weekend. Members will also be doing a static night glow on the
Saturday evening at approximately 9pm. Come to the fair and purchase a £2 raffle ticket for the opportunity to win a flight in one of these spectacular hot air balloons. (Restrictions and weather permitting). In the evening from 7pm, there will also be an opportunity to pay a small donation (all monies from the evening going to the Ukraine Appeal) to come and watch the spectacular night glow, with entertainment from Rufus Stoned, a local energetic five piece band performing two sets, one before the spectacular night glow, beginning around 7.30pm and one after. MED’s ‘mesmerising’ production is back! MED Theatre will be reproducing their sellout production of ‘Salmon’ this summer by creating a short adaptation of the environmental play. This 30-minute version will feature the magical salmon, Salar, Grilse and Kelt, sharing the plights of Dartmoor’s rivers through tales of giants, poachers and water nymphs.
