Stimulus for Resolved Work.
The literal meaning of this artwork is three LBTQ flags that represent are incredibly misheard group of people who do fit into societal norms and standard beliefs of many cultures. The three flags (referenced previously) all are segments of peoples identity and how they may interpret and find themselves. The non-literal meaning of the artwork is something far bigger than just identity, but the acceptance of different people and learning to show empathy. This artwork has focused on decoding symbolism through colour, with the message of pride and acceptance of gender and sexuality. This correlates to the context chosen, as this message is spoken to challenge the status quo of communities which may be closed minded towards sexualities and accepting of someone is isn’t ‘a traditional gender/sex’. After reviewing my own resolved artwork, (and being an audience member) and can understand the purpose of my artwork simply through visual knowledge of the work.
