FIA3 – Art as Connection Printmaking & Mixed Media Surrealism & Steampunk
Etching Designs Inspired By Steampunk and Self I drew inspiration for traditional ideals of steampunk to ensure the main focus to was steampunk related and a balance between self and steampunk. I implemented characteristics of self through the waved type lines and sun. Therefore, emphasis was created around the main object of the lino drawing the audiences eye.
Design were drafted and created and transferred onto a lino block. The lino block was craved to highlight the shapes, lines and textures. By eliminating the blank space, further textures were made.
Designs inspired by steampunk and self in collaboration for a unified work.
Lino Prints on Bag Two designs were created in order to create a contrast between two different designs.
Stamp / Block Printing / Mixed Media Natural material such as, oil and cocoa were used to create this stamp print. Kitchen utensils were used to form the marks on the page. To allow the movement of the viewers eye across the page.

Surrealism Research The research pages shown helped to identify the differences between surrealism and traditional works. It allowed me to know which processes I can use to convey steampunk without over lapping artist movements.
Surrealism Research By researching key features of surrealism it allow me to see where the movement originated from and the aspects to which I can implemented into my experimental art works. Additionally, by seeing the effect of surrealism during the second world war inspiration could be gathered to interconnect ideas.
Steampunk Research
Investigating the key ideas and designs linked to steampunk – themes, styles, features, characteristics and colour scheme, gave me an insight into the key aspects of steampunk I would like to implement into my experiments. It allowed me to blend both surrealism and steampunk ideals to forms a collaborated piece of work.
Steampunk Vs Surrealism Comparison
The identification of comparisons between surrealism and steampunk gave me the opportunity to see what links I can tie into my works. By already incorporating the similarities that have previously linked.
