Mr Milo Man - Sculpture

Client Brief and Response for this task

Installation location and plans • Originally, I had the idea to place my

sculpture in the Quadrangle, but after looking at the installation images on the onenote, it has come to my attention, that my sculpture; Mr Milo Man would best be suited somewhere else around the school. Although, the Quad is very spacious, it does not have many seating areas above the grass, so my sculpture may get damaged from due or rain build up on the metal tin.

• Thus, I have chosen Mr Milo Man to be placed in the Primary area of the school, particularly Prep and Grade½ area, as I believe my sculpture will best suit their environment, as they get to play and learn from Mr Milo Man about recycling, thus keep learning and having fun.

Artist Statement • This artwork explores the value of Keep Learning, as Mr Milo M a n represents a sculpture made from recycled materials, who has a soul, like us humans. Spreading awareness about sustainability and teaches students how to recycle and help Mr Milo M a n finish his top hat. • Sayaka Ganz is artist who uses re-cycled materials in her artwork, specifically sculptures. She inspires me, as her belief system 'Shinto' believes that even inanimate objects have a soul. As everything and anything, can be beautiful and valuable (Journey Indiana, 2013). Which inspired me to make Mr Milo M a n out of recycled materials, who has a soul and passion, who spreads the message to students at MBC about recycling.

Reflection • After collecting recycled materials, brainstorming, sketching and drafting my sculpture. I modified it to my liking and combined everything together to make Mr Milo Man. He meets the client's requirements, as the Prep Year½ students at Moreton Bay learn how to recycle and interact with him in the playground/courtyard.
