Art as Code Ashleigh R
Artist Statement My abstract landscape piece responds to Sally Smart’s use of shadows, images of everyday life and symbolism of rural Australia and was inspired by an experimental piece in response to Rosalie’s Tiger Tiger piece representing rural Australia. I used this idea of layering images of everyday items to develop this experimental work creating a small-scale installation piece which represents Grafton, a small town in the country land of Australia in which my mum grew up in. The scale of my final artwork was determined by the materials used to create this installation inspired by Smart’s Family Treehouse. The code of this piece is shown through the Jacaranda tree which is a main attraction of this town representing the suburban life of the country. When you view this work try to imagine the calming quietness and the simplicity of the Australian country.
