If using Adobe InDesign here are the steps. 1. create the boxes, 2. select them with the pointer tool and go to “Object”, “Paths” and “Make Compound Path”. 3. place the photo using “HJ image in” or the “place into” option.

If using HJ eDesign here are the steps. 1. create the boxes, 2. select them with the pointer tool and go to “Object”, “Compound Shapes”. 3. then drag and drop your photo!
