Model Turned Author Secrets

…..they exists for all of us. It takes courage to face the raw truth---a truth characterized by molestation, incest, physical abuse, domestic violence, denial, fear, shame, and pain. It takes God to help clean out a closet of that magnitude---the family's closet. Journey with author Delton Adams Sr. as he recounts a horrific life story exposing his very dark and evil childhood from hell. Before graduating from high school, Delton already knew and was determined to become a television personality and professional model. His fashion style was influenced by his mother and his strong desire to be in the media and entertainment industry was inspired by his famous aunt, the late Selena Williams. Selena Williams became a model and Broadway actress in Manhattan, New York which landed her on the cover of Jet Magazine August 17, 1967.

A Man’s Y Affair

ou can perceive a fair amount about a man through his modus operandi. His attire, the way he walks, the way he speaks and the way he treats his lady are all just a few indicators of the quintessence of a man. Not to all, but to some men, style is very important and is considered a priority. To this man, style is a press release to the public advertising the very essence of who he is so that before he even parts his lips, he is known by way of his manner. Naturally, he evokes interest to the androgynous eye as he becomes the mogul on the scene. His distinctive appearance is what crowns this man as unique; a variant of others of his league. He is...the scion of Style and Fashion.

Fashion pairs with style as if they are two parts of the same whole. Rarely would you see one aspect without the other. It's easy to get fashion and style confused; many people do in fact. However, Stacy London, an American fashion consultant and stylist says,

Never confuse fashion and style. Fashion relies on unattainable looks... while style is about utilizing the best aspects of you.‖

Giorgio Armani, an Italian fashion designer noted for his menswear says, "The difference between style and fashion is quality." Do you agree? It's quite easy to see. Many of us men remain undiscovered simply because of the fact that most of us go along with the latest trends but fail to add our own "persona", per se, into the equation. Who are you? What makes you stand out among others? What are your best qualities? According to London, "utilizing the best aspects of you" is what constitutes, within context, a man of style. Style -less fashion is bleak. What good is a fly outfit, proper foot gear and a dope hat without your swagger being on point?? Senseless right fellas? Just like the famous quote, ―It takes two to make a thing go right‖; the same is true in the fashion industry. Here is a disguised truth. The slightest change, whether its a simple haircut or a decision to switch your tie with an ascot, can mean the biggest difference in a man's impression. There is something so ―GQ‖ about a man's ability to cleverly distract attention away from his inferior qualities. All it takes is confidence in yourself with a little creativity.

He is...the scion of Style and Fashion. Darryl Howard Journalist

I

always say, that my greatest client testimony is that of myself. Not boasting at all, cause

what I achieved anyone can if they want it bad enough. However as a guy, I have learned some training and nutrition strategies that work well specifically for a male. 13 years into it, can I be called a vet yet? Errr maybe, but the greatest teachers are first great students and I'm always willing to learn more. So, some things I've learned training dudes and being a dude… 1. Most guys train for a "mirror physique". We all know the first 2 exercises we ever did with weights. What were they? Bench and curls! Lol. It's all good. It's a right of passage. *The problem comes when our posterior muscles are neglected or under worked compared to our chest/delts due to months or YEARS of excessive or unbalanced approach to presses (I've also seen it a lot in military guys who do tons of push ups ). This can not only lead to an unbalanced/nonaesthetic physique, but it could lead to shoulder injuries/issues.

My brothers of “Iron”

―Most guys train for a mirror

physique‖

So if you fall into this category, try this, for every set of presses, make sure to include an equal amount of posterior work-horizontal pulling movements i.e. rows, face pulls, rear delts, flys. A good way to keep that volume equal is to do chest/

back in the same workout a few times per month. 2. The more bodyfat we accumulate - especially in our midsection, the more likely our Testosterone

“The more bodyfat we accumulate - especially in our midsection, the more likely our Testosterone levels are being compromised.‖

levels are being compromised. It seems like a no brainer but I've had 40 year old+ clients start taking Testosterone health supplements (ZMA, fenugreek, etc.) And drop bodyfat without even "trying". Granted these were individuals with low T levels anyway. It goes to show the inherent benefits of our ―T‖ levels in regards to body composition. Get ya levels checked, especially if you are 20+% bodyfat.

Fighting Beyond the Struggle Have you ever been in a fight before? How did you react? How did you feel? I remember having my very first fist fight in middle school. I struggled against someone who was bigger and stronger than me, and I was fighting with only one hand. I broke my finger the day before and this guy started to pick on me because of it. He had the advantage: his two hands against my one. He knew I couldn’t ―win.‖ I did everything I could to try to get out of it, but I couldn’t. TheFreeDictionary.com defines the word fighting as ―to engage in a boxing match; to cause (a boxer or other challenger) to fight in a match.‖ Have you ever been hit before and didn’t know who hit you? Have you ever been taken advantage of, because you didn’t give someone permission to do what they did? Have you ever felt like you didn’t deserve what happened to you? What do you do when you are in the ring of life — and you to go down for the count? Knocked Down but not Knocked Out I was knocked off my feet during a home invasion in 2011 and I thought I would never get up again. One – two – three hits, a gun pointed to my head and a pole forced into my rectum. I was out for the count, or so I thought. All I could think about was surviving. I was struggling, trying to think straight and didn’t think others would believe what happened to me. My space was violated. My manhood was taken away from me. The world would look at me differently now. I’ve learned that it is common for people who are sexually assaulted to fear how the world views them. They fear the stigma. Some people will judge you based on your past and make you feel less than whole. It hurts to hear over and over again about how you are to blame. It’s important to hold on to your true inner self. I call it, ―the God in you.‖ It’s something greater in you that no man on earth can steal. After my incident I was hospitalized for several weeks, and never thought I would get up again – but I did. At first, just the thought of receiving help from a crisis center made me feel less of a man. I was prideful and believed others would think less of me. But counseling saved my life. I was brought up in the church where the message was to pray and it will be okay. I also needed professional counseling and family support. I understood that I was destined and created for something greater than myself. I believe that recognizing my true worth was the foundation of moving past my situation. Overcoming the Stigma I was so thankful for the people in my corner during the fight. I was able to regroup and get myself back on track. Besides the fight I had in middle school, I’ve never fought beyond my struggle like that before. I never knew how important plugging into the right resources was, until I was assaulted. I’ve learned that the right resources can help you cope with your situation and make you feel good about yourself again. The right resources can mend the wounds and scars that you can get during a fight. After living with a colostomy bag for five-plus months, I thought people would look at me differently. I didn’t want others to know. I feared what they would think and would not want to be around me. Eventually I overcame these fears by going out and not staying in the house all day. Counselors encouraged me to release what was inside. My family was a great support and encouraged me to keep fighting. They saw how much it took in order to get through those rounds I was in, but their help carried me through. I was fortunate because a lot of families don’t support their loved ones this way. Keep Moving Forward I love this quote by Terry Marks, ―Keep moving towards your destination or the distance between you and your destination will remain constant.‖ When you experience something so traumatic in your life, don’t let anyone get in the way of your destiny. People may talk about you and say negative things, but when you can identify who you really are and recognize what your true divine purpose looks like, you can journey through life with a smile. I know and believe you can come out on top. Fight beyond your struggle, and win in spite of what has happened to you. Just keep moving forward.

10 things women find sexy about a man Teeth is my biggest concern. It’s the first thing that I notice. #2 would be his personality and the way he treats me. Lastly, opening doors and pulling out chairs. Again, a NICE set of teeth… YES!

7.

The traits that are most sexy to me are integrity and compassion.

6.

The most important quality that I find in a man is how he treats his mother. I feel that will be a direct reflection of how he treats any woman in a relationship.

4.

3.

His ability to communicate at the ―best friend‖ level. Talking for hours on end without getting bored or monotonous.

Intelligence can make your panties wet by pure intellectual conversation.

2.

YAAAAASSSSS!

5.

A man with a vision!

1.

When he fills your tank without asking, cooks dinner because he knows that you are working late. He doesn’t care who sees him holding your hand in public. Just doing the little things that most people take for granted. Actually, the sexiest thing about all of this is that he finally ―got it‖ after a few ―mess-ups‖ of his own. Now he knows exactly what to do for the woman that he loves. All because, he loves God first!........ Now that’s SEXY!!!!!!!!

It―s Your Day to Shine! relatively low unemployment, positive economic news, and strong housing market forecasts; it―s W ith no surprise this year―s wedding season has started with a bang! However, when it comes to getting

married, most grooms simply rent a traditional black tuxedo and encourage all of their groomsmen to do the same in order to participate in the ceremony. I've long been a proponent that grown men should own grown men clothes, so the first sin that I pray you will avoid this season is renting a tux! If you and your bride have long dreamed of standing at the altar with you all decked-out in a black tux, then who am I to throw shade. However, make sure you invest in buying a nice tux and have it tailored as if it were custom-made to fit your frame. rest assured, knowing that you have a razor sharp tuxedo hanging in your closet will guarantee that you will wear it again to an awards presentation, black-tie, gala, or formal event. However, even if you own a tux, or your heart is not especially set on wearing a traditional tuxedo, please remember that your "special" wedding day should indeed be special. Therefore, let's leave that tuxedo jacket hanging in the closet, and opt for a seasonal dinner jacket paired with your traditional black tuxedo trousers. Besides, “technically‖ the standard black tuxedo jacket should only be worn after 6pm, so if you are planning an early ceremony not only will you be sartorially correct, but you'll be mad fly as well! what about the groomsmen, you ask? Bump, 'em! Those dudes can just wear standard black tuxedos while you shine like Eddie Kane Jr.! “Nights like this….!‖ James Hackley, Chief Style Officer (CSO) Bespoke Not Broke Website: http:// www.BespokeNotBroke.com Phone#: (571) 315-5923 Email: Info@BespokeNotBroke.com Twitter Facebook

Iron continued from pg. 27 3. This probably should have been after I discussed benching. But another common occurrence I've seen with my guys in the gym is EGO LIFTING. I mean, if you're strong you're strong. But if you're struggling on the 2nd rep you may want to lighten up. Two of the biggest flawed moves I can think of are: *1 Arm DB rows. Stop using all biceps bro. Feel your lats work *Flat Bench Press. Grip too wide - which gives you the false impression of how strong you are due to a shorter range of motion and leverage. Bring your grip in. I just saved you from paying for surgery for a SLAP tear. **Honorary mention: Going super heavy on a single joint exercise like leg extensions The whole stack? Seriously? 4. Unlike my ladies, we guys don't like training legs for some reason I've noticed lol. I'm sure a lot of ya’ll value training wheels. However to my guys that don't;

Start! Yesterday! It's not only about looking balanced with trunks or draws on, but from a strength and power perspective. That's your foundation. Ask any MMA fighter if he doesn't train legs and he'll round house you. Plus my dudes, trust Rick Rude, the ladies will appreciate it. Thank me later. 5. Don't under eat fellas. If you want to gain size. Eat. If you want to drop bodyfat. Eat. It's about the what, when, and how much . For instance, if Joe wants to gain some weight he may have: 8 oz 93% ground turkey, 10 oz red potatoes, and an apple with 1 tbsp natural p.b. at dinner- that's a good sized meal. If Jody wants to LOSE weight he can theoretically eat the same/similar foods yet different structure and still succeed. For example: 8 oz 99% ground turkey, 6 oz red potatoes, 1 apple. At lunch instead of dinner. Plenty food but still inline with his goals of losing fat. *Disclaimer- those meals are generic samples. *Bonus tip for my guys. Never feel like it's not manly to work with a trainer or mentor. I know all us guys know everything but some of us know more than others. Over the years, I still have my mentor/coach/trainer, my brother JJ Henry.

This issue of Simply Dela Jouere is dedicated in Loving Memory in honor of

Ms. Rita Ward and Mr. Samuel Kilpatrick.

Ms. Rita Ward April 1, 1961— November 30, 2014 Rita Ward was a phenomenal lady. Greatness followed her. Her face shined w/evidence in her spirit. She was a lady of great light. Example of inner strength. She was an example of how her demeanor reflected her spirit. Her legacy was…. She could get the job done, but remain meek and humble at the same time. From an outside perspective, she is another pioneer lost. She was strong enough to lead even as a woman. I see her photo and become convicted. She always kept us youngsters in line but in a motherly way. I feel like I lost a mom. A supernova is a stellar explosion that briefly outshines an entire galaxy, radiating as much energy as the Sun or any ordinary star is expected to emit over its entire life span, before fading from view over several weeks or months. Supernova=Ms. Rita Stellar explosion=the beauty of her spirit Radiating as much energy as the sun or any ordinary star=she was no ordinary woman Fading from view=she was here for a short time and then passed on “Ms. Rita”; the mother of “Motions” is a self-explanatory declaration. It's who she was, a nurturer with a capacity to mother multitudes. From a Motion's model perspective, Ms. Rita was like a supernova, she radiated with much energy and light; an example, although a woman, of great power and inner strength. Those that knew her best was graced with the opportunity to witness her phenomenon. Her personality was an example of how the inner beauty of a person can reflect strong outwardly. Ms. Rita undoubtedly touched many lives, thus leaving behind a legacy of empowerment not just for other women, but for us ALL. We love you and you will forever remain in our hearts!
