Caviar Kaspia, DIFC Dubai

BACKGROUND Founded in Paris in 1927, Caviar Kaspia became a symbol of a prestigious art de vivre and is now a Parisian institution that has withstood the test of time. Located in the famous Place de la Madeleine in Paris, with its Tsar-era Russian luxe and chic French décor, it has for almost a century, hosted the most eclectic and interesting mix of guests. Its Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) o shoot, which opened at the end of 2021, is living up to those high standards, blending old world elegance with a contemporary touch.

WHAT’S IT LIKE? Standing out in DIFC, which has now become Dubai’s luxury dining hub, is not an easy job. With big names such as Zuma and Amazonico to compete with, there are established brands and new rivals popping up all the time in this dynamic gastro paradise. But Caviar Kaspia brings something unique and special to the table. For those of us who value the cosy and quaint and a feeling of home, this is it. With all the elegance of a luxurious Parisian brasserie, but the cosiness of a warm and welcoming spot for the chic and elite crowd in Moscow, it has ticked all the boxes for me. It’s small, with traditional stylish interiors, and o ers a mix of open space and romantic, intimate corners, and when you sit on the terrace, it’s hard to believe you’re in the heart of the city’s bustling financial metropolis. THE FOOD Cuisine is French with a Russian twist, bursting with flavour and freshness, with presentation that is artistic and dishes that are decadent. From the finest caviar to the classic blinis and of course, an impressive vodka and Champagne collection to match, the menu blends comfort food with modern flare. It is the place you can find traditional borscht alongside the freshest scallops, Baltic

herring alongside a terrine of foie gras. Caviar is indeed the order of the day, an indulgence we enjoyed topping our fresh cream roasted potato and fresh blinis. Simple dishes such as the Russian potato salad are all elevated into delicacies, from presentation to flavour. We stuck to traditional Russian dishes, as well as the fish and seafood, as it was indeed, a unique experience and an underrated cuisine. The pan-fried seabass served with buckwheat was light and delicious, and my recommendation from the array of dishes on o er.

THE SERVICE Sta are polite and warm, knowing the perfect balance of just enough and not too much, which is a tough call in Dubai where over or under service is often the norm.

THE WORKSPACE More the place to impress and seal the deal rather than work, and certainly memorable.

VERDICT Winter or summer, this is a wonderful destination for a more intimate a air with fabulous cuisine for all tastes.
