Anása, Conrad Dubai

HOURS 7pm to 1am

BACKGROUND Originally opened as a pop-up to utilise some unused space at the hotel’s pool area, Anasa has fast become a permanent fixture at this Sheikh Zayed Road hotel. Decorated in brightly coloured mythology inspired murals, olive trees and rustic furnishings, this is an al fresco Grecian retreat in the heart of the city.

WHAT’S IT LIKE? Set up on the terrace of the hotel’s pool, the restaurant feels like an urban escape. Decorated with beautiful lighting, greenery and enclosed with beautiful sails overhead, it is easy to forget LOCATION Anása, Conrad Dubai, you are sitting Sheikh Zayed Road in the shadows of the towering Sheikh Zayed Road skyscrapers. The space takes you CONTACT Tel: +971 (0)4 444 7040, conraddubai. com, @anasadxb away from the fastpaced city to the Greek isles for the evening. With a live band and the smell of the open barbecue, this is more an experience than simply a dining destination.

THE FOOD The menu is beautifully

simple, comprising all the classics one would expect of Greek cuisine such as Tarmas and Tzatziki, with some local flair from Greek executive chef Ilias Doulamis. With an emphasis on fish, the catch of the day is freshly cooked on the open fire, the seabream absolutely bursting with flavour and worth the battle with the bones. With nearly all the ingredients sourced from Greece, every mouthful is fresh and authentic. Menu highlights also include dakos (bread rusk salad), octopus on the grill, lauraki a la spetsiota (cod fricassee) and astakomakaronada (lobster and pasta).

THE SERVICE Service feels very traditional, like you’re at home in your local taverna. Sta are only too keen to share their knowledge and the atmosphere feels very cosy and inviting, aided by the sta ’s Mediterranean hospitality.

THE WORKSPACE A great place to bring colleagues for some after-work fun or team building with the music playing and the Ouzo flowing.

VERDICT A wonderful treat during the cooler Dubai weather. The prices are reasonable and the experience authentic.
