DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE As I prepare this message, I recognize how quickly we have transitioned from enjoying fall weather to bundling up for winter and preparing for the holiday season. This edition of the Winter Activity Guide continues the Recreation Division’s tradition of providing a variety of programs and special events for you and your family. Some new programs this season include: youth Spanish class, Deer Hollow Farm tours and drop-in pickleball. I would like to highlight that the Community Tree Lighting is scheduled to return to Civic Center Plaza on December 6. We are excited to invite the community back to this holiday tradition. We are making minor modifications to the event to provide everyone a little more space to enjoy the event. In addition to programming and special events, I am happy to provide updates on some of our park projects for the Community Services Department: • Mora Park, a 0.45 acres park located in the San Antonio area, is under construction and is scheduled to be open this January. • Pyramid Park, located in the Whisman area, will be 2.76 acres. The park will include a playground, exercise equipment, large open grass area, basketball court, restrooms and fenced dog area. This park is currently under construction and anticipated opening this coming spring. • Fayette Park, located in the San Antonio area will be 0.5 acres. This park will include a playground, large grass area and picnic tables surrounded by trees. This park is scheduled to begin construction this summer with opening next winter. • Magical Bridge Playground: We are excited to bring Magical Bridge, an all-inclusive playground, to Rengstorff Park. This new amenity will be located near the tennis courts. Construction is scheduled to begin next summer with opening in summer 2023. I continue to be impressed with all of the Community Services staff as they too navigate the constant COVID-related changes in order to keep themselves and community safe. We have welcomed back the County of Santa Clara to the Community Center to provide both COVID-19 testing and vaccinations. This collaboration provides an accessible location in the north county to receive vaccination and booster shots for those that qualify. We are happy to help support this important effort. I hope to see you participating in our programs and out at our special events. Happy Holidays, John

Class Attendance and Registration • You’re excited and we’re excited that you’re ready to jump into an activity. Before you do, though, make sure you’re already registered to participate. Registration does not happen in class, please make sure to register online. Please note that no refund or make-up classes will be issued for any missed activity. Waitlist • Drats! You were this close to getting in! Your name will be placed on a waitlist if the class is full. At the program supervisors discretion, another class may be added to accommodate for participants on the waitlist. You will be given a 24-hour deadline to submit your Registration Form and payment. If your Registration Form and payment are not submitted by the given deadline, you will be removed from the waitlist and the next person on the list will be contacted. Age/Birth Date • To register, participants must be within the required minimum and maximum age by the first day of class. All participants 17 years of age or younger must provide their date of birth. Proof of age may be requested. Transfer • Need to transfer from one activity to another? You may transfer to another activity as long as you meet the minimum age requirement, there is space available, and you send your written request three (3) business days before the first day of class. So that means if class starts on Monday, you have the Wednesday before to transfer. E-mail your transfer request to recreation@mountainview.gov. You will be assessed a $10 processing fee per visit. Withdrawal • If you need to withdraw from an activity and receive a refund, e-mail us at recreation@mountainview.gov no less than five (5) business days before the first day of class. You may also submit a Withdrawal Request Form that you can download by visiting MountainView.gov/Register. Just so we’re on the same page, if your class starts on Monday, your last day to withdraw is the Monday before that class. You will be assessed a $10 processing fee per visit. Missed a day? • Unfortunately, no refund or make-up classes will be issued for any missed activity by the participant. Once a class begins, can I still join or transfer? • Yes! We do not prorate any of the days that have already taken place, though. You just need to catch up with everyone else at the next class! Behavior Violation • Participants receiving three (3) behavior violations will be removed from the specific program.
Proof of Mountain View Residency
