Academic Support Programs
Career Development
The Office of Career Development’s mission is to proactively assist students with career planning initiatives from matriculation to beyond graduation.
Educational opportunities range from personality and interest inventories to help determine career direction, to preparation of professional materials and skills related to the job, internship, and graduate school search process. The office will introduce students to professional career resources, provide information on community and campus career events, and allow access to employer job postings.
Career Development provides area employers with resources to promote professional opportunities virtually and on-campus. The office promotes a holistic and educational environment-- through multiple opportunities and events--that focuses on developing the career goals of each individual student.
The Office of Career Development is part of the larger Office of Student Success and Persistence, in collaboration with Academic Advising and Professional Tutoring. Career Development is located in the Administration Building, room 101, but will be relocating to the Library sometime in Fall 2023.

LIFT Peer Mentors
LIFT stands for Leadership Impacting Freshman Transition and our goal is to help you have a successful start at Mount Aloysius College. LIFT Mentors are Mount Aloysius students who are hired and trained to be embedded in the LIBA 150: College Success course to help you with adjusting to academics and college life in your first Fall semester at College. The LIFT Mentor will do activities in your LIBA 150: College Success and hold office hours to help you navigate being a Mountie student!
You can find out more about the LIFT mentorship program on the Office of Student Success & Persistence Hub. Access the hubs from the MyMAC Portal page by clicking on the Students tab and navigating to the Hubs section.
MyMAC Portal
Accessing Computer Accounts
The MyMAC Portal page provides access to important online documents and information. You can access email, Canvas, and Student Services from this page. Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox work best when accessing MyMAC and Canvas. For a mobile version, get the MyMAC Mobile app.
Initial Login:
Once you have your initial login info, go to the MyMAC Portal and click the “Change Your Password” button. Enter your username (the first part of your email - before the @) and password (your Student ID#). You can then change your password. Once the password is changed, you will be able to access your MAC email, Canvas, and the MyMAC Portal.
Online Helpdesk
This service provides computer support to students.
1. Go to the MyMAC Portal and log in. Click on the Students tab and on the right side under “Common Tasks,” click on “IT Helpdesk Ticket.”
2. Log in with your Novell username and password (this is what you use to log into the portal page and campus computers).
3. Once logged in, click on the Menu tab on the right hand side. Under that, click New Request.
4. Complete ticket as necessary and submit. This will notify the Helpdesk of your issue and you will receive email confirmation. Check the status by logging in.
Printing
1. To install computer lab or library network printers on your PC, go to https://iprint.mtaloy.edu/ipp and click the link for the name of the printer you wish to install. It will prompt you to install the iPrint client first. Do this, close out of your browser, reopen the page, and click the link for the printer again. (Stop by IT Services located in Administration Building 327 for help with MAC-OS devices.)
2. You may also install the Novell iPrint app. Enter iprint11.mtaloy.edu for the server name. Use your Novell credentials to log in.
3. Check current print credits by logging into the MyMAC portal, clicking the IT Helpdesk tab, and following the link under the section labeled Print Drivers for Campus Printing.
4. Printer credits can be added by going to the Business Office and purchasing them in person.
Free Office 365 for Students
For a free copy of Microsoft Office, go to the MyMAC portal and click Free MS Office 365. Enter your school email address and follow the prompts to download and install on up to 5 personal computers.
File Access
• The I: Drive is a storage place on the campus network for you to save documents and files. Your I: drive is listed with the network drives, under Computer in the Start menu.
• To access your I: drive off-campus, go to the MyMAC portal and click File Access on the left. Log in with your Novell username and password. You can also use the Novell Filr app and use filr.mtaloy.edu for the server name.
• You also have access to the Google suite of apps through your Mount Aloysius email account. The Google Drive is a great place to store files that you may need to access on another device.
Computer Support
There are many different laptop manufacturers and models to select from and it can be a confusing endeavor. Students have different needs and budgets, so we recommend the laptop to have what we consider "minimum" specs. Preferred brands that work well at the Mount include HP, Asus, Lenovo, or Acer, but there are many others that make a decent laptop. We recommend staying away from Chromebooks. Although Chromebooks are decent budget options, if you need to install certain software for class, you may run into issues. MacBooks are supported, and many of our students use them, you will just be paying a bit more for one of those.
Students can receive a discount on their desktop or laptop purchase. You can see more details on the MyMAC site under “Discount Software” and “Free MS Office 365.”
