Well it’s good to be finally out of lockdown... we can all start to breathe a sigh of relief and start to see hope ahead. So let’s help each other get back on our feet, friends, family, businesses, and community. Everyone and anyone struggling to brave this storm. To be thankful that our vaccinations are working well and hopefully Covid will soon be a thing of the past.

I wanted to share with you that during lockdown I began to meditate. Ten minutes guided different meditations every morning on youtube. It has really helped me stay positive, focused and more relaxed. If anyone is struggling with anxiety or stress why not give it a go. If nothing else we should all give ourselves at least ten minutes a day for relaxation and reflection. Check out our meditation article on page 10. Keep calm and carry on Wirral.. Just breath, we are getting there! Laura x

Miss Tiger Rose

Hello everybody, I am Miss Tiger Rose, and today, I would like to invite you to join me and my Tiger Lillies in our burlesque, dance fitness class. The classes I teach are to help ladies of all shapes, sizes and ages gain confidence and find their inner goddess, while having fun. These classes are not just dance classes, they are therapy for all of my ladies, and myself included. We come together to form a sisterhood and are like a close family, lifting each other up and creating a safe place where no-one passes judgement. I believe, no matter what your background, sexuality, gender, age or shape, everyone is beautiful, unique and should be welcomed. Our mental health is far more important than most people realise, and I make it my priority to nurture the mental wellbeing of my ladies above anything else, because once you heal the mind, then the health of your body will soon come naturally after. With my class, I want to draw out the inner goddess and find harmony and balance within yourself. You are invited into an environment that gives you permission to understand, explore, celebrate and have fun with your sensuality. No-one has to be perfect, we can find unique ways to express our imagination and become confident, surrounded by people who believe in you and are always there to remind you how special you are. I see YOU, not your size or your body shape, YOU. Every single inch of you and we celebrate it without judgement!

PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE? TAKE CONTROL – GAIN PEACE OF MIND

Do you realise that NEXT OF KIN have NO POWER OR RIGHTS IN LAW to make decisions on behalf of loved ones who have lost capacity (Mental Capacity Act)? This can be confusing! The term NEXT OF KIN is still commonly used in our society and by those in the health and care sectors which can give many people the mistaken belief that being NEXT OF KIN gives them the power to make decisions on behalf of loved ones. BUT … the legal position is that to have control over decisions (about property and finances and also about health and welfare) on behalf of someone who lacks capacity you MUST HAVE A GRANTED LEGAL POWER. Here at Peter Edwards Law we have almost 50 years’ experience of fighting for the rights of vulnerable people. We are the largest exclusively specialist law firm in the Peter Edwards Law can help you with: 1. Lasting Powers of Attorney – You appoint a person/persons to make decisions on your behalf if you lose capacity. There are two types of LPA: a) Property and Finances: You appoint a person/ persons to make decisions about your money and property. b) Health and Welfare: You appoint a person/ persons to make decisions about where you live, the treatment and care you receive etc.

country. As well as understanding the importance of planning for the future, we also understand that for many this can be a daunting process. At some time in their lives everyone will have to make a decision about their health and care. Here at Peter Edwards Law we want to enable our clients to make informed decisions, to plan ahead, to take control – not only about decisions to do with their finances and property, but also over the care and treatment they receive or do not want to receive in the future. We offer a sensitive and compassionate approach to support clients of all ages or stages of health in being able to talk about their expectations, preferences and wishes for their future care and treatment and assisting them to be able to take control of their own affairs. By putting such legal safeguards in place, clients can gain peace of mind knowing that they are protecting themselves and their loved ones for the future. 2. Advance Decisions – You make a decision to refuse specific treatment in specified circumstances 3. Advance Statements/Advance Care Plans – You set out your wishes to be taken into account when care and treatment is being provided 4. Wills – You direct how your assets are to be dealt with on your death instead of the Law of Intestacy directing how your estate is distributed. 5. Probate services – We can advise both Executors and Administrators in all aspects of dealing with a person’s estate after death.

M E N TA L H E A LT H People with mental health problems say that the social stigma attached to mental ill health and the discrimination they experience can make their difficulties worse and make it harder to recover. Mental health problems are common. They affect thousands of people in the UK, and their friends, families, work colleagues and society in general. It is estimated that 1 in 6 people in the past week experienced a common mental health problem. 10% of children and young people (aged 5-16 years) have a clinically diagnosable mental problem. Depression is the predominant mental health problem worldwide, followed by anxiety, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Most people who experience mental health problems recover fully, or are able to live with and manage them, especially if they get help early on. But even though so many people are affected, there is a strong social stigma attached to mental ill health, and people with mental health problems can experience discrimination in all aspects of their lives. We know that people with mental health problems are amongst the least likely of any group with a long-term health condition or disability to: • • • •

Find work Be in a steady, long-term relationship Live in decent housing Be socially included in mainstream society.

This is because society in general has stereotyped views about mental illness and how it affects people. Many people believe that people with mental ill health are violent and dangerous, when in fact they are more at risk of being attacked or harming themselves than harming other people. Stigma and discrimination can also worsen someone’s mental health problems, and delay or impede their getting help and treatment, and their recovery. Social isolation, poor housing, unemployment and poverty are all linked to mental ill health. So, stigma and discrimination can trap people in a cycle of illness.

We need to talk more, change attitudes in the workplace. 95% of people calling in sick with stress give a different reason that is why it’s important to change attitudes in the workplace and work with employers for change. We need to reach out to the next generation if we’re going to change perceptions. It is so important to deliver training assemblies and courses to teachers and students. This is why the work that be well do locally is so valuable within our community. We need to reach out to each other, support each other, parents, relatives, clubs groups, institutions. We need to campaign and educate everybody within our space to provide help for everybody that needs it. Recognising signs of anxiety or depression • • • • • • • • •

OUTDOOR SWIMMING Wirral is awash with this new trend at present! We all know the benefits of swimming, but with anecdotal evidence that outdoor swimming helps promote and has incredible benefits for mental health, everyone seems to be giving it a go. Word is spreading fast and more people seem to be taking to the water in the colder months to improve their wellbeing. Well let’s face it we could all do with a bit of that at the moment.

Let’s explore the benefits Better Sleep The cold water stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps the body repair. This promotes a feeling of relaxation and contentment. Better Circulation Cold water boosts the circulation and makes the blood rush to our organs, making our heart work faster. Increased Happiness Immersing in cold water in the sea or in the shower can make our skin sting or take our breath away which releases endorphins which result in a general feeling of wellbeing. Combined with the workout it is proven to reduce stress levels. Increased Metabolism Swimming in cold water makes your body work harder to keep warm so increases the calories we burn. The colder the water the more our body will convert fat to fire up the metabolism to keep our core temperature stable. Boosts Immune system Immersing in cold water for an hour can shock the immune system, helping to produce more white blood cells and antioxidants. This can reduce your risk of heart disease and cancer. Better Skin Cold water exfoliates skin flushing out impurities and making it smoother. This all adds to feeling better inside and out and the effects are profoundly holistic, Having tried the cold water dipping experience only a few weeks ago for the first time I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be taking the plunge again soon. I know it’s not for everyone, but if you are thinking about it here are a few tips below. • • • • • •

Join a local group for safety and that all-important camaraderie. Start now and dip at least once a week to stay acclimatised Get in quickly – it takes 90-120 seconds for the initial cold-water shock to wear off Never jump in – hyperventilating underwater is bad! Gently exhale as you enter the water Listen to your body and don’t stay in for too long Bring layers, a hat, gloves, wetsuit , and a warm drink for afterwards.

Might see you out there soon! For more information try www.outdoorswimmingsociety.com

OUR MIND IS LIKE THE SKY We mistakenly see our mind as a non-stop sequence of thoughts, feelings, images, all occurring one after another, like a movie reel, but this is not how it is. Our minds are vast, infinite, clear and without limit. If we can experience this vast, clear, spaciousness of our mind, we begin to see how our thoughts and feelings are like clouds in the sky, simply passing through this vast spacious awareness. When we understand this, we see a way of gaining respite from the continual mental grasping at the things we want and pushing away the things that we don’t want. To help us get an understanding of this we can meditate as follows: Begin by getting yourself comfortable. Spend some time relaxing and settling the body and mind. Concentrate on your breathing until your mind is calm and clear. Don’t’ rush this part, it is important to be relaxed. Allow your mind to be aware and observe whatever comes into your mind. Don’t get involved with any thoughts or feelings that arise, simply observe them, like a tourist watching the passing scenery. As thoughts arise observe them, and let them pass away, don’t get involved. Just be aware. Simply imagine your experience, your consciousness, as being like the sky.

Our minds are completely clear just as the sky is completely clear. Sometimes clouds fill the sky and obscure the sunshine, but the sky doesn’t identify with the clouds. The clouds just pass through the sky. They come … and they go. They just arise and pass. When a thought or an emotion, arises in your mind, just observe it. Let it arise and let it pass. Each thought, each mental event is just like a cloud and your mind is just like the sky. Concentrate on that feeling of space and bliss. When we can simply observe these thoughts and feelings arising without getting involved, when we can identify with the sky instead of with the clouds, then we can rest in that spacious of the basic clarity of mind, calm, without agitation, without delusions, without anxiety and distress. For the last few minutes of the meditation, imagine you resting on top of a hill, you’re lying on the grass with a beautiful blue sky above you. Just imagine that slowly the blue sky comes down and envelops you, it feels wonderful. Allow yourself to relax in this awareness, resting in its presence. Wishing you Peace and Happiness Bill Seymour – Buddhist Practitioner

Death is always a difficult thing contemplate, but for funeral directors Robert and Karen Quinn it is something they have grown up with. Helping people at the most difficult time is second nature, it’s how they were raised. Their parents where Dave and Julie Quinn who owned and ran their own very successful funeral directing business in Wirral for over 50 years; earning a very well-deserved reputation throughout the peninsula. When it’s something you grow up around, it’s part of everyday life; we lived on the business premises, so it was 24/7, it somehow intrinsically becomes part of who you are. We learned as much as we could working alongside mum and dad. Especially our dad, he loved his calling and only his best was good enough. We feel exactly the same now for our families. From answering the telephone in a timely and polite manner (no matter how busy and harassed you are) to coping with incredibly difficult situations. Even to this day we can’t leave our personal phones ringing it was drummed into us everything else can wait – watching the news, family celebrations, Christmas dinner! It’s one of the many things that makes us smile and fondly remember our parents now they are sadly no longer with us. Life and death touches us all and since their deaths it was never the same. We stepped away from the family business completely in January 2015. Our next chapter began immediately. We had known we were going to open our own funeral directing business. It

has been hard work starting again away from the safety net of the family business, but we knew it was the right decision. It was something we had to do to truly deliver our best for those who choose to trust us with the care of their loved one, this is not something we take for granted. We are involved in every aspect of the service we deliver and how this business is run – it’s just us - which makes us value our achievements over the past four years even more. It was our own experiences of grief that highlighted the type of funeral directors we wanted to be. To treat people as we would wish to be treated and it has certainly been appreciated by the families we have looked after. It has, at times, been confusing for some given that our surname is used in both businesses. However, we always ensure a family is aware that we are independent of our parents’ former business, which was subsequently sold in 2019 to a large group called Funeral Partners. The end of an era definitely, but the beginning of ours. We wholeheartedly believe that we are carrying the torch and continue in their memory. Mum and dad are in all our endeavours. So much of what they were is integral to who we are. We hope they’d be proud of us. The past year has seen us navigate the most pressurised period experienced by our profession in modern times. The pandemic brought into sharp focus the benefits of being an independently owned and run business. We were able to take the decision to continue offering chapel visits to families throughout the whole pandemic, many did not. We have learned, from experience with families, what is important. We love where we are amongst the Heswall community and are lucky to partner with lovely families from all over Wirral and beyond, as such do not want to dilute what we are able to offer by opening other branches. People can be confident that when their loved one is brought into our care at Telegraph Road this is where they stay until they leave for their funeral service. It is only us, Robert and Karen, that you will speak to and we are here for you every step of the way, one step at a time. Lower blood sugar levels

Working on the theory mentioned above were the hot tub simulates exercise, studies show that patients with type 2 diabetes who soak in a Wellis hot tub for 30 minutes a day, 6 days a week for 3 weeks, experience a reduction in blood sugar levels by an average of 13%.

LONG COVID Mask, check. Hand gel, check. Antibacterial wipes, check. Emergency gloves, check. I couldn’t have done anything more to protect myself. As someone who has had ME and Fibromyalgia for 18 years, it was a must to safeguard if I went out anywhere. In September 2020 I tested positive for Covid-19. It was quite a shock to me. I thought it was a cold at first; I started getting brain fog, chronic fatigue and aches and pains throughout my body. To be honest, I put it down to an ME flare-up. Then the chest pains started and breathing became laboured. I also started to feel nauseous, and the cold I had was worsening. I took myself to a drive-through Covid test centre and my result came back positive within 24 hours. During the first week I got progressively worse, losing my sense of smell and taste. My husband looked after me but slept in the living room. He would only come into my room to bring me food, a drink, or a steam bowl with menthol crystals. That steam bowl was so powerful that he couldn’t be in the room with me. I, on the other hand, couldn’t smell it. We didn’t even realise I’d lost my taste until the night I mistook birds eye chillies for green beans! Breathing became really difficult; so difficult that we called 111 for advice, who then sent an ambulance. The paramedic wanted to take me to hospital, but I refused to go because at the time, there were a rising number of deaths in hospitals from Covid-19. I have an Oximeter at home, so as long as my blood oxygen stayed above 80, I was OK. It was averaging around 90-92 at this point. After 17 days I started to feel better, and my blood oxygen was at a stable 98. My husband was able to go back to work (having tested negative) and I tried to go back to the way things were before. In January I started to go out for walks in the morning to get myself moving and get over the fear of going out again. I was walking a cool 5km every day until it suddenly went bitterly cold out. My chest and lungs started to hurt, but not just a stabbing pain, it was a deep, stabbing pain unlike anything I’ve felt before. I monitored it for a few days, and it got progressively worse. After a lovely trip to A&E at the beginning of March 2021, the amazing doctors of our beloved NHS did X-Rays, bloods, ECG’s and assessments which led to a diagnosis of Costochondritis and then Post-Covid Syndrome (commonly known as Long-Covid).

tell you that this was possibly the worst-case scenario for me. The list of symptoms I experience every day is exhaustive: extreme fatigue, shortness of breath, deep lung pain, chest pain or tightness (Costochondritis), problems with memory and/or concentration or “brain fog”, difficulty sleeping, heart palpitations, dizziness, pins and needles, joint pain, anxiety, tinnitus and/or earaches, nausea, stomach aches, loss of appetite, high temperature, dry cough, violent headaches and a sore throat. Yeah, put me down now! If you’re reading this and have ME or Fibromyalgia, you will know that we’ve had to deal with a lot of these symptoms daily anyway, hence why I thought it was a flare-up initially. I’m already prepped to deal with this, right? No. You see, this is very different to ME and Fibromyalgia - the main reason being the breathing difficulties and the lung restrictions. Whilst my chest X-Rays are clear and there is no scarring (thankfully) I’m still experiencing lung restrictions. The muscle isn’t as elastic as it was prior to Covid-19. As a singer, this has been the hardest thing for me to get my head around. It’s frightening to think I may never sing the way I used to. There has been an article published by the British Medical Journal1 that states that “there is no clear, evidence-based way to guide return to physical activity, but a prudent approach is that it should be gradual, individualised, and based on subjective tolerance of the activity”. It’s not easy – I have to stop exercising after 20 squats because my heart rate elevates to 170+BPM, and I can’t breathe. The lung pain is excruciating and sometimes I feel dizzy and lightheaded. I listen to my body; I push when I can and rest when I need to. I’ve also read an article from the British Medical Journal2 which states “Graded exercise therapy may not be appropriate for treating post-viral fatigue in patients recovering from Covid-19, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has told doctors”. This is directly related to those who have ME/CFS. I think in all honesty, you should go with what you feel you are capable of, and you might want to speak with your doctor if you’re feeling any of these Post-Covid symptoms. There is help available. You are not alone. Therapy! Art Therapy People have been relying on the arts to communicate, express themselves, and heal for since time began. But art therapy did not start to become a formal program until the 1940s. Doctors noted that individuals suffering from mental illness often expressed themselves in drawings and other artworks, which led many to explore the use of art as a healing strategy. Since then, art has become an important part of the therapeutic field and is used in some assessment and treatment techniques. The use of artistic methods to treat disorders and enhance mental health is known as art therapy. Art therapy is a technique rooted in the idea that creative expression can foster healing and mental well-being. Art, either creating it or viewing others’ art, is used to help people explore emotions, develop self-awareness, cope with stress, boost self-esteem, and work on social skills. It may surprise you to learn that art can be an effective tool in mental health treatment. What could art possibly have to do with physiotherapy.? As an expressive medium, art can be used to help clients communicate, overcome stress, and explore different aspects of their own personalities.

What Is Art Therapy? Art therapy integrates psychotherapeutic techniques with the creative help to enhance well-being and wellness. The American Art Therapy Association characterizes art therapy as an approach to mental health that utilizes the process of creating art to improve mental, physical, and emotional wellness. The goal of art therapy is to utilize the creative process to help people explore self-expression and, in doing so, find new ways to gain personal insight and develop new coping skills. Techniques used in art therapy can include drawing, painting, colouring, sculpting, or collage. As clients create art, they may analyse what they have made and how it makes them feel. Through exploring their art, people can look for themes and conflicts that may be affecting their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. People do not need to have artistic ability or special talent to participate in art therapy, and people of all ages including children, teenagers, and adults can benefit from it. Some research suggests that just the presence of art can play a part in boosting mental health. Some situations in which art therapy might be utilized include:

• • • • • •

Adults experiencing severe stress Children suffering from behavioural or social problems at school or at home Children or adults who have experienced a traumatic event Children with learning disabilities Individuals suffering from a brain injury People experiencing mental health problems

Some conditions that art therapy may be used to treat include: • Aging-related issues • Anxiety • Cancer • Depression • Eating disorders • Emotional difficulties • Family or relationship problems • Medical conditions • Psychological symptoms associated with other medical issues • PTSD • Psychosocial issues • Stress • Substance use One review of the effectiveness of art therapy found that this technique helped cancer patients undergoing medical treatment improve their quality of life and alleviated a variety of psychological symptoms. How It Works An art therapist may use a variety of art methods including drawing, painting, sculpture, and collage with clients ranging from young children to the elderly.9 Clients who have experienced emotional trauma, physical violence, domestic abuse, anxiety, depression, and other psychological issues can

benefit from expressing themselves creatively. Inpatient offices, private mental health offices, schools, and community organizations are all possible settings where art therapy services may be available. Some specific setting where art therapy might take place include: • Art studios • Colleges and universities • Community centres • Correctional facilities • Elementary schools and high schools • Group homes • Homeless shelters • Hospitals • Private therapy offices • Residential treatment centres • Senior centres • Wellness centre • Women’s shelters People often wonder how an art therapy session differs from the average art class. Where an art class is focused on teaching technique or creating a specific finished product, art therapy is more about letting clients focus on their inner experience. In creating art, people can focus on their own perceptions, imagination, and feelings. People are encouraged to create art that expresses their inner world more than making something that is an expression of the outer world. During lock down my daughter Miya and I engaged in many art therapy projects to keep ourselves busy, sane but most of all relaxed. I have to say that this was where we both found solace in the frustration of not seeing loved ones friends and uncertain times. Some creations that helped keep her anxiety at bay…..

BRAVE LOCAL AMBASSADOR FOR ALOPECIA UK Sydney developed alopecia just after her 4th birthday following complications in hospital. We discovered that Sydney had an auto immune condition that could be triggered by stress. Her body attacks her hair follicles and causes her hair to fall out, from head to toe.

Now at age 11, thanks to the charities support Sydney is a happy and content little girl who loves dancing, cosplay and animation drawings. She is an intermediate level freestyle dancer who has over 70 awards under her belt. She has a creative mind and does not let her condition get in the way.

Her eyelashes that were dark and long, her eyebrows and her long thick brown wavy hair, all gone in a matter of weeks. This caused Sydney great distress, her hair would come out by the handful, she would wake up in the morning with hair all over her pillow, her eyelashes would go into her eyes when they fell out or rub off on her fingers if she rubbed her eyes. She even asked if she was turning into a boy!

This year Alopecia UK celebrates its 15th Birthday. To mark the occasion, Sydney, along with 99 others have been selected to be Birthday Ambassadors. Their task has been to each raise £150 each in the hope of reaching a £15,000 goal. Fundraising ideas had to be related to the number 15. Sydney decided to do a 150km ride out on her bike and we created 15 different painted looks on her head. So far Sydney has raised almost 10 times her original target that stands at £1257. We would like to extend our gratitude to all that donated.

We saw many doctors, specialists, dermatologists who were all baffled and unable to help. We tried diet changes, creams, lotions, vitamins, you name it, we’ve tried it. We were desperate.

The money raised goes to fund much needed research into what could be causing Alopecia and helps the running of the support groups and awareness campaigns. If anyone would like to donate to Sydney’s cause they can do so by texting SYDNEY to 70085 to give £5.

This was until one GP gave us a leaflet for a charity called Alopecia UK. We contacted them and we were directed to a facebook group full of people who were going through the same experience. We were invited to support groups and met families with children in the same situation as Sydney. We felt a sense of belonging and Sydney (and us as parents) began to understand her condition and learnt so much more about it. Annual trips to Alton Towers with 400+ charity members attending, all wearing the blue AUK tshirts to raise awareness. Sydney felt empowered.

POSITIVIT Y CLUB Positivity Club is a special and unique group for children aged 4 to 12 years, which aims to support their wellbeing, improve their selfesteem, teach them to express themselves and their feelings freely. Creating Positivity Club has always been a dream of mine, because as I child I struggled with my mental health from an early age and became extremely good at hiding the pain I felt. As an adult, I have learnt that talking about my feelings is a strength and I am very passionate about teaching children to do the same. The first block of Positivity Club sessions was a huge success and it was amazing to see the children open up and express themselves more and more, as the weeks progressed. The children are taught that there are no judgements and their thoughts and feelings are valued and celebrated from the moment they enter the door. Positivity Club offers fun and interactive sessions, which enables the children to talk about their feelings in a fun way, which create memories and support them. The classes are always personalised to the children’s needs and interest and parents can voice any worries, concerns or areas to work on before the sessions begin. Although, we are Positivity Club, we teach the children it’s OK when we don’t feel positive and talk about ways to reach out or express when talking is not so easy. The children lead their own conversations and discussions and it has been heart-warming to watch them support each other and relate to one another. There have been some real moments of pride, honesty and lots of laughter too (especially when we gave laughter therapy a whirl!)

Positivity Club was a dream of mine before Covid 19, however I feel with the worries the Pandemic brought to us, it is even more essential. I want to teach children everywhere that how they feel is OK and should never be judged. We have truly missed our club and are counting down the days until we open our doors again on the provisional date of Saturday 17th April. At Positivity Club, the children are the centre of everything we do, however it is also our aim to support their main caregivers, therefore I have been running Parent Positivity Club’s also online. During these sessions, it’s a great time to have a chat to parents, discuss their worries and teach them the science behind children’s behaviours, thoughts and feelings. On Saturday 5th December, we organised a socially distanced Welly Walk around our local community of Hoylake in aid of Wirral Mind and raised £700. Whilst walking, we talked about our own mental health with families and displayed the children’s Positivity posters for passers by to see and spread some joy. It was a wonderful day and it was lovely to see people stopping to read the children’s work along the high street and the beach. We truly believe that by doing this work, we are making a difference to the stigma around mental health and teaching skills that can support through later life. I N T E R M I T T E N T FA S T I N G Intermittent fasting has recently become the new health trend. It is said to promote many health benefits weight loss, improved metabolic health, blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and even to improve life span. There is a ton of evidence in recent studies that list the benefits. Here are some popular ways to get started. The 16/8 method. The first involves fasting every day for 14 to 16 hours and restricting your eating window to around 8 to 10 hours a day. You can fit in three meals or even more within this method. It can be a simple as not eating anything after dinner and skipping breakfast the next morning. An example of this if you finish your last meal at 8:00 PM and do not eat anything until noon the next day technically you are fasting for 16 hours. It is generally recommended that women only fast for 14 to 15 hours because they seem to do better with a slightly shorter fast time. You can drink water and other zero calorie drinks using this method which may reduce feelings of hunger. However, it is important to eat the right food and maintain a healthy diet when using this method, it will not work if you just eat junk. The 5.2 diet (The Fast Diet) This involves eating normally for five days but restricting your calories to 500 to 600 for two days of the week. On your fasting days, its recommended women eat 500 calories and men eat 600 calories. For example, you might eat normally Wednesday till Sunday, then Monday and Tuesday eat two small meals consisting only of 250 calories each.

The Warrior Diet This involves eating small amounts of vegetables or fruit during the day and eating a whole meal in the evening. To summarise you eat all day and feast at night within a four hour eating window. This diet is very similar to the paleo diet. Spontaneously meal skipping You don’t need to follow the structure of intermittent fasting you simply skip meals from time to time when you don’t feel hungry or are too busy to cook and eat. it is a myth that people need to eat every few hours your body is well equipped to handle long periods of famine let alone missing one or two meals from time to time skipping one or two meals when you feel inclined to do so is basically spontaneous fasting. Just make sure you eat right and healthy during your other meals. Some people believe it may not be as beneficial for women as it is for men. this diet is also not recommended for people who are prone to eating disorders. If you do decide to try this keep in mind that diet quality is crucial it’s not possible to binge on junk food during the eating periods and then expect to lose weight and boost your health. Please remember to eat, drink and diet responsibly.

Eat stop Eat. This form of fasting involves a 24 hour fast once or twice a week by fasting from dinner one day to dinner the next, this amounts to a full 24 hour first. For example, if you finish dinner at 7:00 PM on Monday and do not eat dinner until 7:00 PM on the Tuesday you have completed a full 24 hours fast you could also perhaps fast from breakfast to breakfast the end result will be the same. Water and low-calorie beverages are allowed during the fast, but no solid foods are permitted. If you are doing this fast to lose weight, it’s very important to eat normally during the your eating periods you should eat the same amount of food as if you haven’t been fasting at all. There is a downside to this, 24 hours is a long period of time and it may be difficult for some people to achieve. Alternative day fasting The clue is in the name, you fast every other day. You can completely fast or allow yourself around 500 calories during the fasting days. A full fast every other day is not always recommended for beginners as it can leave you feeling very hungry.

Apple cider v Apple cider vinegar is a popular home remedy. People have used it for centuries in cooking and medicine. Apple cider vinegar has various healthful properties, including antimicrobial and antioxidant effects. What’s more, evidence suggests it may offer health benefits, such as aiding weight loss, reducing cholesterol, lowering blood sugar levels, and improving the symptoms of diabetes. High in healthful substances Apple cider vinegar is made via a two-step process. First, the manufacturer exposes crushed apples to yeast, which ferments the sugars and turns them into alcohol. Next, they add bacteria to further ferment the alcohol, turning it into acetic acid — the main active compound in vinegar. Organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar also contains a substance called mother, which consists of strands of proteins, enzymes, and friendly bacteria that give the product a murky appearance. Some people believe that the mother is responsible for most of its health benefits, although there are currently no studies to support this. While apple cider vinegar does not contain many vitamins or minerals, it offers a small amount of potassium. Good quality brands also contain some amino acids and antioxidants. Apple cider vinegar is made by fermenting the sugar from apples. This turns them into acetic acid, which is a main active ingredient in vinegar and may be responsible for its health benefits. Vinegar can help kill pathogens, including Harmful bacteria. People have traditionally used vinegar for cleaning and disinfecting, treating nail fungus, lice, warts, and ear infections. Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, used vinegar to clean wounds more than 2,000 years ago. Vinegar is also a food preservative, and studies show that it inhibits bacteria like E. coli from growing in and spoiling food so If you’re looking for a natural way to preserve your food, apple cider vinegar could help. Anecdotal reports also suggest that diluted apple cider vinegar could help with acne when applied to the skin, but there does not seem to be any strong research to confirm this. The main substance in vinegar — acetic acid — can kill harmful bacteria or prevent them from multiplying. It has a history of use as a disinfectant and natural preservative. May help lower blood sugar levels and manage diabetes. To date, one of the most convincing applications of vinegar is helping treat type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is characterized by high blood sugar levels caused by insulin resistance or the inability to produce insulin. However, people without diabetes can also benefit from keeping their blood sugar levels in the normal range, as some researchers believe that high blood sugar levels are a major cause of aging

and various chronic diseases. The most effective and healthiest way to regulate blood sugar levels is to avoid refined carbs and sugar, but apple cider vinegar may also have a beneficial effect. Research suggests that vinegar offers the following benefits for blood sugar and insulin levels: Numerous studies in humans show that vinegar can improve insulin function and lower blood sugar levels after meals. But I must state that it’s very important that people do not replace medical treatment with unproven health products. If you are currently taking blood-sugar-lowering medications, check with your healthcare provider before increasing your intake of any type of vinegar. Apple cider vinegar has shown great promise in improving insulin sensitivity and helping lower blood sugar responses after meals. Perhaps surprisingly, studies show that vinegar could help people lose weight. Several human studies show that vinegar can increase feelings of fullness. This can lead you to eat fewer calories and lose weight. That said, simply adding or subtracting single foods or ingredients rarely has a noticeable effect on weight. It’s your entire diet or lifestyle that creates long-term weight loss. Overall, apple cider vinegar may contribute to weight loss by promoting satiety, lowering blood sugar, and reducing insulin level

Whitens Teeth If you can stomach the flavour, you can use apple cider vinegar to restore your pearly whites. Yellow teeth can be embarrassing, but whitening kits and pastes are expensive. Apple cider vinegar is an easy and cheap way to bring back that natural sheen. It kills bacteria throughout the entire mouth and removes stains. Gargle the apple cider vinegar for a short time before brushing your teeth as normal. May boost skin health. Apple cider vinegar is a common remedy for skin conditions like dry skin and eczema. The skin is naturally slightly acidic. Using topical apple cider vinegar could help rebalance the natural pH of the skin, improving the protective skin barrier. On the other hand, alkaline soaps and cleansers could irritate eczema, making symptoms worse (24). Some people use diluted apple cider vinegar in a facewash or toner. The idea is that it can kill bacteria and prevent spots. Apple cider vinegar is naturally acidic and has antimicrobial properties. This means it could help improve the skin barrier and prevent infections. The best way to incorporate apple cider vinegar into your diet is WIRRAL WELL

vinegar to use it in cooking. It’s a simple addition to foods like salad dressings and homemade mayonnaise. Some people also like to dilute it in water and drink it as a beverage. Common dosages range from 1–2 teaspoons (5–10 mL) to 1–2 tablespoon (15–30 mL) per day mixed in a large glass of water. It’s best to start with small doses and avoid taking large amounts. Too much vinegar can cause harmful side effects, including tooth enamel erosion and potential drug interactions. Some dieticians recommend using organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegars that continues “the mother”. Well, its food for thought… a apple a day keeps the doctor away so they used to say. Or perhaps a spoonful a day helps keeps the doctors away. Everything said I take a spoonful everyday and swear by the stuff for everything listed plus indigestion, and achy joints.

I am very fussy about my mascara as have tried many, many over the years and the majority have smudged half way through my evening out. I eventually stumbled on Sensai, but this has become more difficult to get hold of so I was delighted when Victoria Beckham brought Future Lash out. It goes on beautifully and the wand applicator is delicately curved to capture each and every lash from the root up. It’s a clean, nourishing formula that delivers length and seriously impressive lift. Washing off Victoria Beckham’s Future Lash is a very easy. All you need is a few splashes of warm water to remove all traces without needing cleanser & cotton wool pads. Available @victoriabeckhambeauty.com
