THE EXISTING STRUCTURE OF PARK #11 HAS A LINE OF SYMMETRY RUNNING THROUGH IT
Site of Fine Arts Museum MAIN ENTRANCE TO SITE
Part of the design project is to bulid a connection between the to be built Museum of Contemporary Art and the Museum of Fine Arts. The Museum of Contemporary Art is to be built on the existing public park 11 which has a lot of vegetation on the site; the other museum is going to take place of the old police department. The ‘bridge’ that connects the two museums is a crucial part of the project as it must accommodate conditions of both sites and obtain main access to both buildings. The ‘bridge’ is then a tunnel of two story height. A steel frame with multiple steel beams supporting it freely on both sides, runs continuously from one museum to the other. On both sides of the tunnel there is channel glass. Greenery is hanging from steel wire both on and under the tunnel. This tunnel becomes a canopy during the day and a glowing threshold at night in the Tainan cityscape.
