Can you feel it? The excitement of summer is building! The end of the school year signals the beginning of a fun-filled summer in Wentzville. Swim lessons, outdoor sports programs, family fun at the pools, Fourth of July events and much more! Splash Station Aquatic Center and Progress Park Pool will both open on Saturday, May 26. We’ve made a few changes to this year’s schedule; so be sure to check out pg. 2 for more details. Is your child ready to swim like a fish (or a dolphin)? Flip to pgs. 2123 for details on selecting the best swim-lesson level for your child. We’ve got classes at both pools, with morning and evening hours to accommodate even the busiest of summer schedules. But wait, there’s an even better reason to be excited for summer this year – Jake’s Field of Dreams playground! Jake’s Field of Dreams commemorates Jake Vollmer who passed away in 2012 after a lengthy battle with muscular dystrophy. This playground is an exciting partnership between the City of Wentzville and Unlimited Play, an organization that helps facilitate themed playgrounds for communities all across the United States. This brand-new, universally accessible playground broke ground on March 21 and we’re planning a fun-filled, grand-opening celebration this summer. Stay tuned to our website and social media channels for more details coming soon.

PADI Open Water Scuba Course (Age 10+)
If you’ve always wondered what lies beneath the surface, now is the time to find out! Start the journey of a lifetime with the PADI Open Water Diver course. Your PADI Instructor takes you through the basics of learning how to scuba dive. The course encompasses three phases: Knowledge Development, Confined Water Dives and Open Water Training Dives. 1. Knowledge Development (additional fee) – This develops your familiarity with basic diving principles and procedures. We will complete this phase with PADI eLearning, an online curriculum. 2. Confined Water Dives – You develop basic scuba skills in a pool. Over the course of these dives, you attain the skills you need to dive in open water. 3. Open Water Training Dives – After your confined water dives you are ready for your final four open water dives. You may make these dives locally or at a more exotic destination on vacation with what is called a referral. We’ll provide you with all the details in class. Prerequisites: Minimum age is 10 years old for Junior Open Water Diver and 15 years old for Open Water Diver. Good health, reasonable fitness and comfort in the water are required. A Medical Questionnaire must be completed by all participants. Some participants may require their Physician’s approval prior to any in-water activities. *JUN 15 session will meet at Progress Park Center at 7:30P.
