Parks and Recreation Board

This volunteer advisory group to the Board of Aldermen, Mayor and Director of Parks and Recreation serves as a sounding board by holding public meetings and exercising influence throughout the City to improve and expand recreational opportunities. Members are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Board of Aldermen for a three-year term. The Parks and Recreation Board meets at 6:30P on the first Monday of each month at Wentzville City Hall (1001 Schroeder Creek Blvd.). The meetings are open to the public. Meeting agendas are provided on the City’s website at www.wentzvillemo.org.

Resident and Nonresident Definitions Wentzville residents are those living within the city limits of the City of Wentzville. City limits and Post Office boundaries are not the same, so it’s possible to have a Wentzville address yet live outside the city. A Household Annual Pass consists of two adults and three children, 22 years of age or younger, living in the same household. Additional children may be added to a membership for $25 per child (for residents) or $35 per child (for nonresidents).

Resident Card* Information Resident Cards enable Wentzville residents to access recreation facilities, recreation programs and classes at discounted resident prices. Cards can be purchased at Progress Park (968 Meyer Rd.) for $5 per person. Each resident, ages 2 and up, must have a resident card in order to access the facilities at the resident rate. The resident card offers the following benefits: • Early registration for programs (before nonresidents) • One-time free admission to one Parks and Recreation facility • Free trees or seedlings at the annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway (while supplies last) • Reduced rates when reserving City facilities • Reduced rates on annual passes and daily admission • Discounts on many City-sponsored recreation programs and classes To obtain a Wentzville Resident Card, you must present both proof of identity and proof of residency. I also authorize any photos/videos taken of myself and/or the participant, to be used in any publicity or promotional materials by the Wentzville Parks & Recreation Department. Photos & Videos If you do not want yourself or your child photographed/filmed, please notify the administration office in writing in advance of the program starting. Nondiscrimination Policy The City of Wentzville does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, sexual orientation or disability in employment opportunities or the provision of services, programs or activities. A participant alleging discrimination on the basis of any of the aforementioned areas may file a complaint with either the Director of the Wentzville Parks and Recreation Department or the Office of Equal Opportunity, U.S. Department of the Interior, Washington, D.C. 20240. Register Early for Programs All programs must meet minimum enrollment in order to be offered. If there are not enough registrants, a course must be canceled. Unless otherwise noted, all registrations must be received a minimum of one week prior to the start of the first class. Parks and Recreation reserves the right to cancel, postpone, combine classes or change instructors as needed. If a class is canceled due to lack of enrollment, registered class participants will be notified of an alternate class or program if one is available, or a full refund check or credit slip will be processed within four weeks.

Refund Guidelines: • A full (100%) refund/credit/transfer will be given if Wentzville Parks and Recreation cancels the program or rental. • If the participant withdraws from the program before the first class/game,* the Department must receive a request and a full refund will be given, less a $10 administrative fee. The refund will be processed as a credit to the household account.** Credit can be used on future programs. A credit may be used by any member on the same household account. • Refunds for medical reasons, requested prior to the start date of the program, will be granted a full refund** subject to verification. • If the participant withdraws from the program any time after the first class/game, the department requires a request and a prorated credit to the account will be given, less a $10 administrative fee.** No refunds will be issued after the program/session is half over. • Any refunds processed for volunteer coaching will be applied to the household account for future purchases. • An administrative cancellation fee of $10 will apply to all pavilion or field rentals. • A cancellation for a Progress Park Center reservation will forfeit the deposit. • If a participant withdraws from a program after supplies or tickets have been purchased, refund will be pro-rated minus these expenses. *No refunds will be issued for adult leagues after the registration deadline. **All youth league refunds will be less the cost of uniforms.

WE P.L.A.Y. Scholarship

(Wentzville Residents Only) The WE P.L.A.Y. Scholarship program (or WEntzville Providing Leisure Assistance for Youth) is designed to provide youth access to the recreation and leisure activities of their choice ― regardless of their ability to pay. Holiday Night Lights Holiday Night Lights 5K and Fun Run (All Ages)

The Holiday Night Lights 5K and Fun Run will take you through our amazing light display at Rotary Park just in time for the holiday season! Runners in the 5K will race through the paved sidewalks of Stonemoor Subdivision and into the rolling hills of Rotary Park. This race is fun for the entire family! For those competitive racers, the top three overall male and female 5K finishers will each win a gift card! All racers will receive a unisex, fleece-blend, crew sweatshirt*, finisher medal and post-race snacks. This race will be chip-timed.

Holiday Night Lights Drive-Thru | 5:30-9:30P

The annual Wentzville Holiday Night Lights display at Rotary Park opens on Friday, NOV 27. Enjoy a one-mile light display that features large illuminated commercial scenes and tunnels of twinkling lights. This holiday display is a great way to experience the magic and joy of the season close to home. Drive-thru admission is $10 for vehicles holding up to six passengers; $1 per additional person after the sixth. On Saturdays you can enjoy a visit with Santa inside the Kolb Building which has been transformed into a winter wonderland! Drive-Thru will open late DEC 6 due to the Holiday Night Lights 5K and Fun Run. See Drive-Thru schedule below.

Packet pickup is DEC 3 from 3-5P and DEC 4 from 5-7:30P at the Wentzville Ice Arena. Day-of-race packet pickup and same-day registration starts at 3P. At 4:30P, packet pickup will end and the course will be closed to street traffic. The 5K race starts at 5P. The one-mile Fun Run will begin once the 5K route is clear. 5K medals will be awarded after the last runner has completed the course. First place winners of the 5K will receive age group awards for top male and female in each of the following age groups: 10 and under; 11-14; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 and older. The top three overall male and female competitors will not be awarded for winning their age group. If you are unable to stay for awards, you may pick up your award at the Wentzville Ice Arena up to two weeks after the event. Medals will not be mailed. Book a wintertime, tractor-pulled hayride through beautiful Rotary Park to tour the breathtaking Holiday Night Lights. Rides are available on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6P, 6:45P, 7:30P, 8:15P and 9P.* (Except Monday, DEC 14). Carriage Rides

To donate a tree from your business or organization, please contact fun@wentzvillemo.org. Walk-thru cost is $3 in advance and $5 day of, per person. The inclement weather date is DEC 15. Children under age two are free.

Rides are available Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in 30-minute increments starting at 6P, with the last ride at 8:30P.* (Except Friday, DEC 25). A four-passenger and six-passenger carriage are available each evening. The cost is $60 for up to four passengers and $5 per additional passenger. Children 2 and under are no cost. Rides are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis and you must register ahead of time. Riders are welcome to bring their own personal-sized beverages, but please NO glass! No refunds will be given unless inclement weather prohibits the carriage company from getting their horses to the park.

This walk-thru event allows participants to enjoy the Holiday Night Lights display at a slower, more intimate pace. Attendees will stroll through the one-mile light display, experience enchanted scenes, twinkling lights and joyful carolers. After walking the illuminated route, come inside the Kolb Building, which has been transformed into a winter wonderland with decorated trees from local businesses and organizations, enjoy refreshments and get your picture taken with Santa! Live reindeer will also be available for a festive holiday photograph!

NEW! Fall Citywide Yard Sale

Wentzville Parks and Recreation is thrilled to announce the development of Wentzville's Connection Theatre Company (Wentzville's CTC). Wentzville's CTC is founded on the idea of connections and driven by the hope of connecting Wentzville’s residents to the world of theatre. Wentzville's CTC will offer opportunities to connect through classes, camps and productions for all ages that teach and develop the valuable skills of performing arts. Crossroads Beer Run (All Ages*)

Join us at Heartland Park for our brand-new Crossroads Beer Run! This new, exciting event includes an evening 5K race followed by a night of sipping craft beers and listening to great local music! The Crossroads Beer Run is a beautiful flat course with paved sidewalks in Heartland Park, the surrounding streets and the loop around the lake. All racers will receive a custom short-sleeve T-shirt*, custom pint glass, two 16-oz post-race craft beers and a post-race Bavarian pretzel with cheese. Tree Lighting and Christmas Parade

The Annual Tree Lighting will take place at 5:30P on Sunday, DEC 6. The tree is located at the intersection of Pearce and Luetkenhaus boulevards, across from Pete’s Drive-In. Mayor Nick Guccione will officially light the tree, just prior to the start of the Annual Christmas Parade. The Parade will begin at approximately 6P in Historic Downtown Wentzville, at the intersection of Linn Avenue and Pearce Boulevard; it will travel east on Pearce Boulevard and north on Luetkenhaus Boulevard, ending at the Wentzville Fire Protection District Headquarters at 502 Luetkenhaus Blvd. At the fire station, following the parade, attendees can enjoy cookies, candy canes, hot chocolate and a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Defenseman Camp (Ages12-16)

Are you a defenseman? Do you want to step your game up? Learn from a former college defenseman. This camp will include skating backward, shot blocking, defensive zone positioning playing the man, offensive transitions, regrouping in the neutral zone, shooting and offensive zone play. This camp will also include advanced footwork, stick work and learning how to play angles in addition to cover gap control and reading plays defensively and offensively to put yourself in a better position to make plays. The Wentzville Lacrosse Club brings you this three-hour clinic. It will focus on the fundamentals of lacrosse in a fun teaching environment. Girls’ Volleyball League (Ages 10-12 and 13-15)

This six-week league will be governed by USA volleyball rules and house rules. Uniforms are included for participants registering as individuals. Team registration does not include uniforms. At the end of the six-week season, the top four teams in each age division will play in a single-elimination tournament to determine the league champion. Awards will be given to the first-place team. Practice space is not included with this league. Games start as early as 8A. The registration deadline is AUG 30 for the SEP 26 league and NOV 15 for the DEC 12 league. Tweens and Teens Teen Talent Search

Calling all teen singers, dancers, jugglers, magicians, comedians and more! We are searching for a variety of local talent to perform at our events. Selected performers will take the stage for up to 15 minutes and share their talent, skill or ability with the community. Judges will score each performance based on a number of categories. Select winners will receive a cash prize. Winners of the contests will also have additional opportunities to perform at future City events. All participants must complete an application and could be called upon to display their skills via an interview.
