These utility-related infrastructure projects represent just a portion of the many Board-approved projects planned for 2024 and beyond.
AsWentzvillecontinuestogrow,theCity isundertakingnumerousinfrastructure projectsthatmaynotalwaysbevisible butarevitaltothecommunity'sfuture. TheseeffortsarepartoftheCity's CapitalImprovementProgram,carefully plannedandoftenoperatingbehindthe scenes.Whenavailable,external fundingsources,suchasAmerican RescuePlanAct(ARPA)dollars,areused tohelpensuretheCity'scontinuedfiscal responsibility.
Stormwater
In2024,theCitywillusefederalARPA dollarstoenhancetheCity’sstormwater system,primarilyinHistoricDowntown Wentzville Theseimprovements, totalingapproximately$660,000in outsidefunding,willincreasesafetyfor motorists,reducetheneedfor emergencymaintenanceandboostthe overallfunctionalityoftheCity’s stormwaterinfrastructure
Water
Theconstructionofanew$9,860,000 waterstoragetank,ofwhich$860,000 willbefundedbyARPAdollars,will enhancetheCity'swatersupplyduring peakdemandandprovideadditional storageforfireprotectionand mechanicalfailures Thiswillhelp maintainareliablewatersupplyfor residential,commercialandindustrial uses.
Wastewater
TheCitywillundertakemultiple waterlineconnectionprojectsto replaceandupsizedeteriorated sectionsofthewatermain Theselargescaleprojects,whichwillbeconducted usingin-houseteamsandcontractors, willtotalapproximately$7,100,000and aredesignedtoimprovewaterpressure andfireflowcapacitywhilereducing maintenancecostsandminimizing wateroutages.
Overthenextfewyears,multiplelift stationreplacementandrepairprojects totalingapproximately$8,225,000, with$5,640,000fromoutsidesources willbecarriedout Theseprojectsare crucialforimprovingsafety,lifecycle costsandmaintenanceease,andwill enhancetheflowcapacityand reliabilityateachlocation Additionally, severalsanitarysewersnearstream banksareatriskduetobank deterioration.Upcomingprojects totalingapproximately$750,000will addresstheseissues,reducingexposure andincreasingprotectionagainst overflowandinfiltration.
TheWentzvilleParksandRecreation Departmentalsohasseveralprojects onthehorizonbetween2024and2028
Approximately$350,000in boardwalkimprovementsat HeartlandParkwillfocuson redesigningandreconstructingthe supportbeamsandreplacingthe structuralcomponentsofthe boardwalk.Thiswilladdresssafety concernsandensurethestructural integrityoftheboardwalk,while enhancingaccesstothelakeand providingagatheringplacefor families
Afloatingfishingdocksystemwill beaddedtothelakeatHeartland Park.Thisnewfeature,whichwill totalapproximately$84,000with $15,000inoutsidefunding,willnot onlyallowanglersbetteraccessto thewaterbutalsosupportthe healthandgrowthofthefish population
TheextensionoftheHeartlandPark Trail:$486,500with$215,000in outsidefunding
Anewrestroomandpavilionat Fireman'sPark:$453,000;and AfountainatHeartlandParktoaid inwateraerationandquality improvement:$87,000,with$15,000 inoutsidefunding.
