“Back-in-the-day” could be as early as 1990. The Hip Hop era was making a major impact on the mainstream music industry. The mega record labels and the mega hip hop stars took to the worlds stage. You can’t say “remember Snoop Dogg”, he’s still making hits and making others into stars. When you hear that Busta-Rhymes is featured on a tract, you lean closer to the speakers or sit on the edge of your seat. Some artists posses the style that has stood the test of time in Hip Hop’s evolution... East Coast to West Coast, to Down South. For this issue we had to go out and see what the streets were watching in each of these markets. Being independent is being classic. The industry stays fresh because of the classics that come from the independent entertainer. Independent; directors, models, producers, promoters & so on, come together to create the classic that we see today.
www.mprintmedia.com
“You can’t say great without saying AV”…For our next issue we cover one of the hardest in the streets of indie entertainment. AV is not talking about, pushing weight or controling a block, but he uses his voice for positive actions. Not only is he an artist but he’s a radio personality which lets him reach out and give back to his community. Also in this issue we get you ready for the rest of the year by getting you connected to the ‘whos, who’ in the world of fashion and makeup. We will continue to put the independent entertainment industry on deck.

Residing in Virginia Beach, VA, “Kimmo” is a 27 year old aspiring model. Her venture began in 2006 when she auditioned for the official Azzure Denim Fashion show and was chosen to rip the runway at the Afr’Am festival in Norfolk, VA. With her voluptuous curves, Kimmo attracted more of an urban audience and began to participate in many different fashion shows & hair shows, despite her short stature. Because of her exotic look, she sparked a buzz amongst
photographers up and down the Eastcoast. With experienced photographers gaining interest in her, Kimmo decided to focus more on print work. Now, after a long break, Kimmo returns to the modeling scene with the same drive and ambition she left with. With experience in straight and choreographed runway shows, hair shows, print work, and video work; she is ready to make her mark, yet again.

Never Give Up.. Young Marco is a versatile artist from College Park, GA. He posses the ability to write, rap, sing, and dance.
This young up-and-coming artist is clearly focused on the BIGGER picture. Yung Marco is cur-

Yung Marco is a well grounded individual all the while surrounded by screaming and applauding fans. His motto is “never give up.” When asked about his motivation he says, “Being an indepen-
dent music artist is definitely hard work... people think that it’s just like play… I Eat Sleep Breathe Music! You have to do everything yourself. If you are too lazy, then being an independent artist is not for you.” And when he’s not concentrating on his music he is out in the community giving back. AGGATAR... Hip Hop Star It’s not often that I get to watch the music get made. I felt fortunate to sit in on Slim Polk’s “Good Good” recording session. Fresh on the heels of his summer hit, “Top Back” (featuring Killa Kyleon), Polk does this one for the ladies. After Polk takes off the headphones and joins me at the mixing board, the sound engineer takes us to the beginning of the track. “I got one ready for the clubs!”, says Polk as he increases the volume. “Im working hard on ‘Aggatar’ (release date TBA), it’s gonna be as big, or even bigger than my fans expected. My fans been waiting on this one!” Slim Polk isn’t new to the industry, he’s developed a fan base amongst some of the hottest artists in the industry. Bun B and Ludacris are among a few of the many industry stars who have went on record stating that Slim Polk “gots to be heard!” Most artists enter the game piggy-backing on the success of others, but Slim Polk creates his own. “I’m good with features on a track, but I like for my fans to be anxious about my next verse”. It’s clearly evident that Slim Polk’s flow is known around ‘Tha Agg’ (Arlington). While on the set of his photo shoot for this issue, an unlikely fan approaches and asks, “Hey, ain’t you, Slim Polk?” As a new fan I felt like I was a year late getting on the Slim Polk movement. Slim Polk’s YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook reflects the work and future path of his career. Despite his label woes, Slim Polk remains driven, and not distracted.

How can I NOT ... Pulling up to his gated condo community in North Texas, you can clearly see why he is in this industry. Mr. Emerson began this interview opening up about his solo career, his label situation, and the release of his mix tape.
“I am not conceited... I just feel that I am owed what I deserve. I put in da work, Im on my grind, I’m putting out good music”, says Emerson as we talk about his summer hit single “Conceited”. “Man I have way better songs than conceited. I got a catalog full of tracks that eat ‘Conceited’ alive,” says Emerson. Signed to an Indie label in 2011, he’s felt the success and setbacks of being in the music industry. The summer of 2012 had Mr. Emerson on
the road performing for packed out clubs in the south, and “Conceited” spent weeks getting spins from Arizona to as far north as Rhode Island. When I asked what is preventing him from getting the spotlight he deserves, he opens up and keeps it 100 stating, “Label support is needed when you got a hit in all these major markets. The CEO needs to know more than just spending money... he needs to know the music biz.” Emerson is currently in talks with labels major and Indie. His plans are clear, “My talents are going to get me to the situation that I deserve...support of the projects and the necessary promotions that it takes to get me where I need to be”.
Not to be confused or compared to any other white rapper out there, Mr. Emerson brings his own style of lyricism and punch line delivery to each of the tracks on “Mr. Emerson ‘The Mixtape’”. He makes each jack beat track his own. The original tracks on this project proves that he’s nowhere near a cookie cutter rapper. “’Own League’, ‘The Way Life Is’ and ‘Sarah’, are just a few of the bullets in my arsenal”, says Emerson.

In These Streets Rarely we acknowledge that there’s a ghost in the machine that makes it work, but somebody gotta get it to the streets, DJs, and radio. For years, hits, and brands, BC and his Southern Fried Marketing staff have connected artists to their new fans. Southern
Fried Marketing’s invisible hands have promoted and introduced the streets to the likes of 50 Cent & the Atlanta based up-and-coming artist Young Marco. I had a chance to chop it up with BC and discuss the state of the industry of today. When asked the pros and cons of social media promotion of the day BC says, “Everything is accessible and and instant ... it doesn’t take as much money today as it did before...it causes the game to be over saturated, but it could lead to the right exposure depending on the grind.” At the downtown offices of Southern Fried Marketing it’s evident that
they embrace the digital world with their staff set up to Blog, Tweet, Post, and Share.
At the time of this interview the country was preparing to vote for next set of national and international representatives. With any good representative he/she must know their constituents a/k/a the streets. In the music industry there’s clearly one choice Southern Fried Marketings own BC. BC is known as an ambassador to the streets. “We
(Southern Fried Marketing) can market anything from a new spoon to the new and independent Aritst”, says BC when asked about the strength of his team.
With his track record and current projects hitting the streets on a daily basis you would think that BC would be involved at the executive producer level of one of his projects but he’s not. His ear is to the street, making the music “do what it do”. From community awareness events to major artist releases, BC is hands-on from over 20+ markets. If you think you’re about to be in these streets effectively, you may want to hit up Southern Fried Marketing a llc company and get you a serving of the best marketing in the biz!

The New Classic In looking for the new classic sound... It was hard to pinpoint who was behind new classic sound. Hard to pinpoint if you aren’t looking for the producer. Yung Feddi has pushed out a series of hits for artists across the country.

When Feddi hits the streets, it doesn’t matter what club is hit up...Feddi and his crew are getting in! Yung Feddi is currently building a catalog of beats that would cover any genre’. Not only is he a producer, Feddi is an artist. At the time of this interview Feddi was recording his Mixtape (release date TBA). The Future of Music... From his beginning in 2008, Denton’s Wreck-A-

Within months of his beginning his career, Wreck-AMic teamed up with Paul Wall on the song, “It Goes Down” This track was licensed with EA Sports for their MMA video game . With an introduction into the industry this grand, it was hard to ignore that Wreck-A-Mic is a force to be reckoned with.
With a universal ability to bridge the gap between underground hip-hop and mainstream, Wreck-A-Mic is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated “Return of the Grizzly” with DJ Da Hitman. This is the follow up “Wreck-A-Mic is... Grizzly Bear Adams”. Having appeared on over 250 mixtapes... it’s a nobrainer on the longevity of Wreck-A-Mic’s growing career. His single Ziploc Fresh produced by platinum hit maker 2Much of Dorrough’s Ice Cream Paint Job fame, quickly became an instant add to radio and program director’s playlists across the country and on satellite radio.

Triple Threat Yep, T.Lae is more than cool with Snoop Dogg a/k/a Snoop Lion. Let’s get back to that later! I visited T.Lae at his ‘As Is’ office, while he finished a mix tape, now released, called‘Current Affairs,’ (hosted by Snoop Dogg). Next up, T.Lae works on the movie and storyboards for a music video.
“I gotta stay busy... the game changes everyday”, says T.Lae, as we discuss video cameras being on all smart phones. FYI people, having a camera phone doesn’t make you a instant director. Watching him seamlessly edit a video was amazing. A born and raised native of Orangeburg, South Carolina, his directing talents have stretched clear across the country, all the while collecting indie money. I met T.Lae while he was out scouting potential areas for the movie he’s directing in conjunction with Mprintmedia, LLC. After producing videos for local artists throughout the south, T.Lae’s work was recognized by the big Homie Snoop. When his videography skills got the attention of Snoop Dogg, T.Lae was propelled into another level of his career. When asked if it’s difficult wearing so many hats as a business owner and talent, T.Lae says,
“…they all work together for me. Everything I do is by the number, and before I say action... all scenes have to be in place so that the final product can flow.”
DIRECTOR T’LAE

He goes on to say the same about his music. I can honestly say that T.Lae is a major commodity and he more than a triple threat. He can be behind the
camera, behind the mic, and most important… behind the scene. When you want it done right, check T.Lae out and be ready to do some serious business. 34

The Producers What’s in a name? ..MF’N means, exactly...? Well, I guess it depends on how you know them. Since their efforts in their craft is taken very seriously, it could stand for the “Musician’s First Nation.” But since the major labels know that they can put up “Major Fiscal Numbers”, if you want to work with them, it could stand for “Music For Negotiation.”
MF’Ntertainment or “MF’N ... We’re the producers” (You gotta say the whole thing). Ace Wonder - the Influence, Johnny “FaceBook Famous” Brasco, & ILL Gaimez is HANNIBAL The Beat Animal. The trio of multi-talented in-
strumentalists, hailing from New Orleans, LA have been doing music for 10 years. They are producers and singer/songwriters that specialize in making great music. At the University of New Orleans, Ace & HANNIBAL were mentored by Jazz greats Ellis Marsalis (father of Wynton & Braford Marsalis) & Terrence Blanchard (who has scored multiple Spike Lee films) but Brasco had
the privilege of being fathered by legendary Jazz musician John “Kidd” Simmons.
MF’N does pop music, rock music, Jazz, Classical, country, electronic, dance, reggae, R&B, hip hop, as well as tv & film scores. Their list of accomplishments extends far beyond the realm of urban music as the trio of upstart musicians are
focused on becoming the next great production entity.

About the Author Epiphany, aka Lisa Marie Channell, started writing poetry at the young age of 9 years old. A teacher gave the class an assignment, which led to Lisa’s first piece being published in the Houston Post. As a child raised with the mentality that children are meant to be seen not heard, and many types of dark abuse, poetry became a release for her emotions. Perhaps because she experienced abuse on platforms that many people could never fathom, she had a heart that sought truth and love. In 2002, Lisa says God led her to stop writing secular poetry and start writing poetry about her experiences. How her dark life could be a light for others in similar situations and how her experiences would change them. She calls her style what God refers to as testimonial poetry. With a great spiritual Father, Pastor Adrienne S. Johnson, her confidence built and she began to share her poetry. In 2009, Lisa began a book she was given inspiration to write. She’s still writing her book, but also freely reciting her poetry to all that want to hear it. She’s been told her words forever change people’s lives. Lisa’s ultimate goal is for her poetry to reach everyone everywhere. As a part of the Domestic Violence Awareness section in this issue, Mprintmedia is proud to share Lisa’s talent, honed from years of caged and tortured emotion. Congratulations on
finding the light.

Instructions A lil’ girl born in this world... with two teachers one preacher.
and prays to the skies.
All given instruction, who will lead her to corruption,
the choices given the living, the learning the burning.
a life of being cold, a diabolical soul
Desire for her soul to be free made her decision easy to see.
Dreams help her analyze...
seduction, production... of parables untold,
A life of corruption, seduction, production... of parrables untold.
There is only one right voice, and there is only one right choice in her head. That is do as her elders said. Even if she is being led... in the wrong direction
A life of being cold, a diabolical soul. Was a road she had to travel, in order to unravel... a mystery of direction.
The lessons... they are trying to instruct will show you who is trying to corrupt, seduct, product.
Now she is a Dean, in a life lesson that will teach others to reach... for their dreams.
A woman of trust, a woman of lust, a woman in the dusk.
No matter how devious the schemes they get caught up in, in the end it’s their choice which voice wins.
Searching for a way out... of the cusp she is in. Perfectionist of deceit and pain, she got caught up in the game.
Mistakes are our sins, and the good Lord, our only friend. So if you can relate with this lil’ girl, or know someone in the same world...
She learned to gang bang, slang, shake her thang.
She started seeing fortune and fame that she never dreamed of.
Let the lil’ girl explain what blessings there are to gain Let her tell you how... to take back the life the devil stole.
There was not enough love in the money she was holding... so her cards started folding.
For life is something the devil cannot hold. If you still don’t know what voice to believe, Just ask the lil girl in this piece... ‘Cause the lil’ girl is me...
To a loss of all possessions,
the lessons she holds will get her golds.

During this time of year families are finalizing their plans to see loved ones. This is also the time of the year where violence and death tolls rise. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic Violence strikes us all in one way or another. Why is this still on a rise? The one constant in every story is that the victim doesn’t think anyone can help them. These stats are shocking and painful. • Every 9 seconds in the US a woman is assaulted or beaten. • Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime. Most often, the abuser is a member of her own family. • Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women—more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined. • Studies suggest that up to 10 million children witness some form of domestic violence annually. • Nearly 1 in 5 teenage girls who have been in a relationship said a boyfriend threatened violence or self-harm if presented with a breakup. • Everyday in the US, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends. • 92% of women surveyed listed reducing domestic violence and sexual assault as their top concern. • Domestic violence victims lose nearly 8 million days of paid work per year in the US alone—the equivalent of 32,000 full-time jobs. • Based on reports from 10 countries, between 55 percent and 95 percent of women who had been physically abused by their partners had never contacted non-governmental organizations, shelters, or the police for help. • The costs of intimate partner violence in the US alone exceed $5.8 billion per year: $4.1 billion are for direct medical and health care services, while productivity losses account for nearly $1.8 billion. • Men who as children witnessed their parents’ domestic violence were twice as likely to abuse their own wives than sons of nonviolent parents.

nce Awareness Don’t that think domestic violence happens somewhere else to someone else. Domestic violence occurs in all our neighborhoods and in our families. Anyone can be a victim of domestic violence, it doesn’t discriminate. Abusers attack our daughters & sons, bosses and friends, mothers and fathers, sisters and even our brothers. The survivors are strong. They’ve fought odds daily, they had hope in the midst of hopeless situations and circumstances. Domestic Violence Awareness Month may be over, but let us all do our part to make the world safer, and embrace those who fight to end their own personal battle against Domestic Violence.
Victom...Aspiring Model “Lovin me and mines” is the signature of this survivor of domestic violence. Once upon a time Melissa Lacey was held back by a situation of violence. Now the aspiring model is seeing better days. “Nobody is gonna hold me back ever again”, says Melissa. It does show but, this mother of 5 has been through the pain and torture of abuse. Currently she is juggling the role of home, education, mother and model! “I woke up and realized that my life is important and that I need to do better for my babies”, she explains with teary eyes, telling of the day when things began anew for her. We all have a female in our life. Abuse and violence hits us all. There’s no way you can
I hope that you read the words by Rhonda Lee in the Short Story, “Officer” (featured to the left), who has not only been a victim, but fights to bring awareness to the lack of help that comes from our government officials. When she reached out for help in this situation, publishing this piece to provide a positive reinforcement became a mission. There is a myth that women who are victims have low self-esteem, but that is far from the truth. Tougher laws and training on how to handle victims needs to be addressed. Her piece, “Officer” was inspired as she dealt with the unfortunate ugliness that comes with proving that there is a danger present. Rhonda says,“I wrote this while sitting outside of the hearing over what my ex-husband had done to me...Please help me fight for justice!”

Her portfolio is becoming more diverse in the weeks and months to come. Melissa’s story is just beginning but it took strength to push thru the threats and shame. “Look

Gettum Done Committment and motivation is an understatement when talking about Mz. Gettum Done. She is a writer, manager and radio personality that is always on her grind. “I just knew I always wanted to have
a part in music, both underground and industry,” she says.
From singing as a child, music helped her through good and bad times in her life and led her to incorporate it into her professional life. She has worked with other artists but, until up-and-coming producer BamBam, had not managed. Managing BamBam and her role as a radio personality has given Mz. Gettum Done another platform to love and support music. Despite her lifelong attraction to music, Mz. Gettum Done has discovered her love for Blogging and writing also. She says, “Blogging gives me the
freedom to say exactly how I feel without any restraints, so I completly love it.” Even Blogging is not enough for Mz. Gettum Done’s creative juices. She is working on a book that’s reportedly for
“grown folks”.
Through her professional growth, she has been inspired to also reach outside her music and writing realm to help people in their everyday lives. Mz. Gettum Done wants to develop a place where people can log on and find pantry locations, clothing and even give-aways. She wants to provide a place where people can get tested or get help in the time of a crisis. Mz. Gettum Done has a lot of projects going on and it seems as though her biggest project is showing industry people how to get it done! Determination
