Experience Mprintmedia Know What’s New... When I put my hands on Apple’s latest wonder, I was completely blown away. As of print time the iPad is not available for purchase (until April 3), but I’m on the waiting list. With Mprintmedia being an Internet based firm, I was ready to see what we looked like on Steve God’s, I mean Steve Jobs’ latest tech gadget. The iPad dimensions are smaller than a sheet of printer paper (8.5 x 11”), and just a half of an inch thick. The weight of the iPad comes at 1.5 to 1.6 pounds, depending on if you want the 3G experience. I’m not going to give you a bunch of tech specs about the iPad, but I will say it works. It works for those who need a powerful machine to surf the net, read a iBooks or news, watch your YouTube and listen to your iTunes purchases. I suggest you make Mprintmedia the first site you bookmark. Now, I have a secret that works great with the iPhone and I’m 100% sure will work just as flawlessly. Skype! Hey, hey. We are going at it again over here at www.mprintmedia.com! This month we are attacking corporate music. Last month we celebrated Black History Month, a reminder of the fight for our rights. Independents push to have the career they want. From artists such as: Mike Beezy ‘Sex on the Wall’, Lil Bitty representing Wisconsin, and G Que giving you the indie sound from H-town. Our television keeps growing with great films from the minds of: Kirk Revil who is about to show his thriller ‘Invisible’. We give you a look into African Americans who blazed the path for entertainers from past and present. Now what’s a great magazine without great models. Ms. Caramel is not only beautiful but she is also the head of her own modeling agency and manages the upand-coming hip hop group Gang Green a.k.a. Tha Double G’s. The beautiful Quita gives us a look into her Queen-dom. This princess is one who respect is due. Our media distribution grows this month as we spread our message to Apples iPod’s and the phenomenal new iPad, which is a joy to operate. What would February be without an article about love. Our own Rafael outlines love from The Book that equals nothing but love. Enjoy the worlds fastest growing internet; tv network, magazine publication, radio station, publishing and marketing firm. LET FREEDOM RING Booker T. Washington. The film was released in 1919 but didn’t draw the moviegoers as expected.
Many people don’t know the history of Black History Month. This month was actually just a week long event that happened on the second week of february which also coincides with the birthdays of two great civil rights leaders - Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. Dr. Carter G. Woodson, a Harvard scholar, organized the first annual Negro History Week in 1926. We have always associated Black History Month with our inventors and our firsts. Well, I want “you” to recognize some of our pioneers in entertainment. Before the invasion of corporate/mainstream, major labels and studios, there was the independent. The world of modeling consists of agencies. However, in the day of Naomi Sims, when racial prejudice was at its peak, she decided to sidestep the agencies and go directly to fashion photographers. She became one of the first successful African American models while still in her teens. She gained worldwide recognition from the late 1960s into the early 1970s, appearing on covers of prestigious fashion and popular magazines. She is just one of many of our pioneers in the Black is Beautiful movement.
Berry Gordy
During this movement, art became increasingly important because of a newly appreciated relationship between art and politics. To this day there is a tie between the two. Berry Gordy created Tamla Records in 1959 with an $800 loan from his family. His second label, Motown Records, was formed in 1960 as a independent, and incorporated on April 14, 1960. Gordy’s accomplishments extend to record executive, songwriter, record producer, film and television producer. One of my favorites is “The Last Dragon”. What becomes of a dream and drive? Independence. We know that this first has grown and changed hands but it established the idea that indie labels are the beginning to the independent music industry. Indie movie making by African Americans dates back to 1915. In that year a silent film “The Birth of a Nation” caused the explosion of independent African-American filmmakers. The birth of a nation promoted white supremacy and turned the Ku Klux Klan into heroes. Indie from that day is the same today, when the filmmakers had to get their own financing.
Naomi Sims
The Birth of a Race was the first independent black film produced by Emmett J. Scott, the personal secretary to
To those who love movies like “The Mack” and “Foxy Brown’ you must be familiar with the genre called Blaxploitation. Blaxploitation films were the heartbeat of the early 1970s. This genre of film was the first to feature sound tracks of funk and soul music (also making independent progress). These films starred primarily black actors. The films connected and created a new market for independence. Unfortunately the genre was attacked because of its raw material and its stereotyping blacks. The coalition against blaxploitation formed by the NAACP, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and the Urban League played a major role in the death of the genre. The characters and the impact of the genre were later resurrected in many of todays film dating back to 1997 when Quentin Tarantino brought back one of the era’s greatest blaxploitation stars, Pam Grier, in his hit film “Jackie Brown”. Since then, movies such as “Invisible” by Born 2 Fly Entertainment, and the highly anticipated “Where is Louscious Jones?” documentary from Diop Productions has brought back the frequency and the realism style of the blaxploitation/independent film makers.
Rafael, Mprint Model/COO College where he made his first student film, ‘Last Hustle in Brooklyn’. He took film courses at Clark Atlanta University and graduated with a B.A. in mass communication. In 1978 he received a Masters of Fine Arts in film & television from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Spike Lee has time and again pushed his independence through each of his films, even when the major studios has had a role in the distribution of his productions. (continued, p. 8)
I haven’t met Shelton Jackson a/k/a Spike Lee, but I am frequently watching the productions that role out of Diop Productions, which by the way, is looking for Louscious Jones. Like the grass roots start for Spike Lee turning into a life of achievement and entertainment, I foresee Diop Productions following suit. Spike Lee has turned his independence in the film industry into one of our greatest film and production companies, 40 Acres & A Mule Film works. Since 1983 his production company, has ,produced over 35 films. He attended Morehouse

LET FREEDOM RING (continued from p. 7) I have had many discussions with my young sons about the importance of black history to our culture and their future. Exemplary black men and women in history have time and again given our culture reason to be proud. But pride is not the only thing we should take from their lessons. In each example listed in this article, the brother or sister fought against the grain to realize a dream. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is perhaps our biggest inspiration to realize dreams. These people fought for their dreams, they worked hard and they understood the importance of being educated. I will never dis the school of ‘Hard Knocks’, but a dull mind is a wasted one. Read, open your mind to new thoughts, other cultures and ways of life. The government is offering grants for furthering education. Take advantage of the wealth of information our leaders have helped unlock for us. George Washington Carver taught himself to read at the age of 10, because he had a thirst for knowledge, when at the time, servants were not educated. Black independence is about breaking free of chains, restrictions and realizing our dreams. President Barack Obama has given us a renewed sense of power and pride. Through independence comes motivation and a hunger to persevere. In music, independents are the heartbeat of the underground sound. Turn mainstream off. Underground is where the soul is. Each of our artists have pushed to excel through mediocrity and nay sayers. Each artist has dedicated their careers and lives to being seen and being heard. Art is a form of expression. Truly, each artist has expressed a profound thirst for realizing their dreams. Artists, fans, readers, Let Freedom Ring!

We all want to know our lover more, or we should. This month we take you on a journey from bed, bath and beyond with your dream girl. We were fortunate enough to have an insight into the world of the sexy Ms. Caramel. This hard working model is in the “beyond” everyday. Our interview on Skype was a real lucky piece, as we caught up with the lovely CEO, as she was in between her travels. This beauty has graced magazines and is a featured model, heading up her own agency, Urban Divas. She has taken her models to the forefront of music videos and product shoots. Now, I can’t begin to tell you how fortunate I was to watch this mogul’s shots from the bedroom shoot to the bathroom to the beyond. We discuss her love for business and her travels and upcoming events. The Urban Divas CEO, is also the manager of the hot group Gain Green a/k/a the Double G’s. She tackles the independent music like she tackles the indie world of modeling. As we talk about Valentine’s Day, this beauty goes on to say she is picky. “My brother takes care of me.” This independent says “i’mma let a man be man.” Her continuous travels keep her grounded and she needs to be able to keep her finger on the grind and not worry bout her man or him about her. As you gaze at the lovely poses put in your mind that this is a CEO underneath the bubbles in her bath photos. How much more can we say about a beauty who handles her own. Check out more pics of Ms. Caramel on mprintmedia.Com, and hear the entire interview on the “my block my booth” podcast on your itunes (tba on the mprintmedia podcast page).

An Encouraging Word Greetings, Welcome to this month’s An Encouraging Word. I’m Rafael Dawson COO of Mprintmedia.com. I have been going through an amazing transition in my personal life and through it all God has been speaking to me more than ever before. I truly believe that God has put it on my heart to share a little of his word with you in each upcoming issue of Mprinted. I am not a preacher, priest, rabbi or religious scholar but a Christian man trying to live right. As He speaks to me, I will share with you for the sole purpose of helping encourage and comfort you. It is my most sincere hope that through these articles it will reveal how wonderful life can be with Him in it. Truly, Rafael Dawson COO mprintmedia.com
What is Love?
When people think of February, they often think of love and that special person or companion in their life. So I would like to pose to you these questions: Who do you love? And how do you know? Love is an interesting word because we attach so many definitions, and expectations on the word that when you hear the phrase “I love you” we often ask ourselves: why did they say that? Did they mean it? Do I feel the same way? Besides, we love everything. We love our pets, cars, houses, jobs, certain foods, the club, to chill, to shop, the Lord, etc. No wonder we don’t know what love is or means.
requires us to make choices. We must choose to be patient, to not be selfish, to be kind, to not hold grudges. So what are those butterflies in our stomach, that electricity, that feeling in the gut that we feel when we meet that special person who makes us feel like we’re in love? What do we call that? Why does that feeling go away? We call that feeling chemistry, it’s those pheromones that our bodies produce that attract the opposite sex to one another. We see it all the time in the animal kingdom during mating season. Men buy fancy cars and shinny rocks to draw the female, women wear less clothing to entice the male and the human race continues to multiply and fill the earth. All those above stated occurrences’ are facts of life; you can even call them our nature. If you were to consider our nature or programming, you’ll discover that we had no choice in those feelings or who they were directed towards.
Well, I hope by the time this article is over you would have found some insight in answering those questions for yourself. How do you know you love someone? Is it when: a. You get a feeling deep in the pit of your stomach, like when you eat too much Mexican food. b. You find yourself missing work and school just to spend time with them. c. You can’t concentrate on simple task because your mind is dominated by thoughts of them. d. You feel jealous when you see an unknown person of the opposite sex talking to them. e. When you feel like you’ll die without them. Let us take a look at the meaning of the word love. Because I am a Christian man and the majority of the world is Christian, there is only one definition for love that I will use. In 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Paul gives us a clear definition of love and its characteristics. He states that “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails. This means I love you just because, also known as agape, unconditional, or God’s love which is the highest form of love. Now if we look closely at that description of love, we discover that love has nothing to do with how we feel. For each description there is an action, love is, love is not, love does, love does not, love always, love never. So we learn from Paul that love
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
If we honestly examine the matter, we discover that those feelings we had in the beginning of the relationship where not what we thought. The fire and desire that had us so captivated with a person that for some of us didn’t exist until we meet at the club on that fateful Saturday night.., was not love but chemistry. To be even more honest, we all have experienced when that feeling fades or fails. That feeling that we experienced, and based our relationship on is called infatuation. Infatuation can be defined as a fleeing amorous (loving) feeling. Because infatuation is a fleeing feeling, we now know that it’s not love. Paul says “love never fails.” I know your probably thinking, “were do we go from here, is the relationship over, was it a lie?” DON’T WORRY! The relationship doesn’t have to be over and it wasn’t a lie! The truth is, infatuation was supposed to fade and it’s a good
16 www.mprintmedia.com
thing when it does. I believe that God uses infatuation as a means for bringing us together. The great news is that after it fades, you can begin to build that deep, meaningful, intimate, true, and real relationship you desire and long for. Now that we know what love is, and what love is not, how can we tell if we truly love someone? Based on Paul’s perfect definition of love we know that love requires some type of action. Remember: love is, is not; love does, does not; love always, love never, so we must show our love. We can show love in several ways, here are a few important ones: how we treat each other; were we spend our time; giving gifts; and how we serve each other. How we treat someone is an obvious way of determining if we love someone. Do you follow the golden rule and treat you partner the way you want to be treated. When you speak to them do you: do it with understanding, kindness and gentleness, do you try to build up their confidence, do you affirm them to make them feel needed, special, important and attractive. If not, start by finding something nice to say to them at least once a day or tell them how you appreciate one thing that they do for you that makes you feel special and loved. Proverbs 18:19 tells us “an offended brother/loved one is more unyielding than a fortified city…” However, be careful not to overdo it. Nobody likes a flatterer. Proverbs 16:24 states “pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Spend time with the person that you love. This should be self-explanatory. Understand that some people need more quality time than others. If your mate wants/need to see you everyday all day to feel loved but you don’t need that much time, compromise so that both your needs are satisfied. Remember that you love your made so be considerate to their needs because they are just as
important to them as your needs are to you. This might mean that you change work schedules, or even jobs, but whatever you do, just make sure you make the time. Finally, if you’re still having trouble, ask yourself this question: what is more important, the job or your family? None of us is guaranteed a tomorrow. Giving gifts should be an easy one for the men. We men buy jewelry, cars, houses, etc. for women. You women by sexy lingerie watches and neck ties for men. Whether or not you’re a man or a woman the gift you give is or should be a symbol of your love to that person. You know the popular phrases that dominate the ideal behind gift giving, if not here they are: it’s the thought that counts; and it’s better to give than receive. Both of those phrases are very true. Again the gift you give that special person in your life should reflect that you care about, and are thinking about them and the selection of it should be done with considerable care. The gift doesn’t need to be expensive or extravagant; however it does need to show that you know what they like. For example, one of the best gifts you can give a person is your time. Just being with them holding hands while watching the game can make all the difference (ladies). Just being there to hold her purse when she goes shoe shopping can do it as well (guys). Proverbs 18:16 states that “a gift opens a way for the giver…” But, you must be careful of your intentions when you give a gift. In Proverbs 21:14 we’re warned us that a bribe concealed in the dark pacifies great wrath. So don’t give a gift with ideal of manipulating your loved one into doing what you want, because then you’re trying to control them. If you’re having trouble giving gifts, look at it in this perceptive: when you give to your loved one; you give to yourself. Seeing them happy and feeling loved by your gift should make you feel good because you love them, and they have your heart. Make an investment into your heart, give to the one you love and watch them give back. Last on my list are acts of service. This is the most important way to show love. When talking to his disciples, Jesus stated in Mathew 20:26-28 “… the greatest among you must be your servant, “…he did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life…for many” Service is so critical because it requires you to sacrifice yourself and your desires for that of someone else even when they’re wrong. Serving your loved one means you’re not being selfish but considerate to their needs. Jesus again stated in my “…you’ll find joy in the serving of others…” Serving your loved one can be as easy as giving a foot message, wash-
ing dishes after dinner, cooking the dinner or walking the dog. Although, these acts sound simple, they will help a great. You’ll be surprised at the reaction you get from them when they come home after a hard day at work or with the kids and don’t have to worry about walking the dog or putting the kids to bed, especially when they just want to come home and relax. What a stress reliever that can be. If you having trouble with this one, ask you loved one: what can I do to make your life easier and less stressful. If you’ve stopped serving your loved one, start back. You’ll find that even thought they might not have expressed it; they noticed when you stopped serving them and feel less loved because of it. Remember, a stressed loved one will relieve that stress on the closest one to them and if that’s you then consider trying to provide a stress free environment at home for them. Finally, I ask you one final question, who do you love? We’ve reviewed the meaning and the characteristics of love as well as different ways to show love. Do you exhibit these actions towards the person you claim to love, do you need improvement? If so pray and ask God to reveal to you how you can show/communicate your love to that person in a way that they can For some of you this will involve apologizing and asking forgiveness. So if you’ve taken your loved one for granted or have had trouble showing love, let go of your selfish pride and make a change today. Do yourself a favor and protect the one you care for because it’s of great benefit to you and it’s worth it. Love has nothing to do with your feelings, it’s a choice.
In ‘Loving’ Memory... Love notes in Black History What would a love story be without the mention of the Lovings, the interracial couple who fought for the right to love one another in Virginia, leading a landmark Supreme Court case ending a ban on interracial marriage. Mildred Loving, a strong and brave black woman, with the love and support of her white husband Richard Loving, challenged the state of Virginia in 1967. At the time, at least 17 other states also had a ban on mixed marriages. The couple began courting when Mildred was only 11 and Richard was 17. Mildred became pregnant and the two were married in Washington when she turned 18. They were arrested a few weeks after returning to their hometown in rural Caroline County north of Richmond. The Lovings pleaded guilty of “cohabiting as man and wife, against the peace and dignity of the Commonwealth,” according to their indictments. By agreeing to leave Virginia, the couple stayed out of jail. Moving to Washington for several years afforded them the chance to write the Attorney General, Robert F. Kennedy, who pushed the case to the American Civil Liberties Union.
love patiently and with kindness. The couple did not fight to persecute those who wronged them, only to return to their home as husband and wife, father and mother, to live their lives the way they wanted to live them, with Love. An inspiration to mixed couples everywhere, the Lovings’ struggle marked a point in black history that freed love from senseless restrictions. Freedom and independence include the rights of the heart; independence to love, freedom of choice and the inspiration the Lovings so humbly gave to us all.
Choose to DO love; right now, today. At around the same time the Lovings fought for their right to live as man and wife in the only home they’d known for 25 years, lawmakers passed the Civil Rights Act.
What is Love?
“The law that threatened the Lovings with a year in jail was a vestige of a hateful, discriminatory past that could not stand in the face of the Lovings’ quiet dignity,” said Steven Shapiro, national legal director for the ACLU.
Whether or not you are part of an interracial relationship, the restriction to love based on race is discriminatory and wrong. Valentine’s Day is a day to cherish your loved one. Loving Day is a day to cherish your right to love freely. Mark June 12th on your calendar and celebrate this year with couples from all over. Love is boundless. Love is free. Loving is independence!
After the supreme court ruled in the Loving’s favor, on June 12, 1967, the anniversary of the ruling became known as Loving Day. Loving Day is the annual mark of the advances of interracial couples in America. “It wasn’t my doing, it was God’s work,” said Richard Loving. Mildred stated they did not marry the state.“The law should allow a person to marry anyone he/she wants.” The Lovings experienced true love, the love listed in scripture. The Lovings simply wanted to be married, to

THE DIRECTOR,
KIRK REVIL
WRITER, DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, EDITOR
Writer, director, producer and editor, Kirk Revil like to call himself a jack-of-all-trades because of his skills and experience at each of those fundamental aspects of filmmaking. He believes that to truly be able to manipulate moving images, one must understands all the components of the medium. He spent several years perfecting his craft as a director, writer and editor. Though he has the ability to do all those things, his true passion is writing, directing and telling stories. Kirk was born February 2 1983 in Jamaica Queens New York. Raised by a single mother and his grandmother, Kirk was taught early on the values of independence, respect for your fellow man, and to persevere under difficult circumstances. At the age of 18 Kirk began to feel he wanted to be in the entertainment industry. Watching films and becoming mesmerized by the concept of telling stories, Kirk at first thought he wanted to act. But he never actually wanted the limelight of an actor. After graduating from high school and working as a PA on a student film set, Kirk Revil began to feel the that he wanted to be on the production side of film. His decision on pursing a career in film was made after he bought a camera for $200 and began filming every day events. The art of storytelling was a craft he fell in love with. Upon receiving his Associates degree in media communication, Kirk enrolled in Brooklyn College and majored in film production. Once at Brooklyn College Kirk began to thrive creatively. Being around other like-minded individuals who shared his interest of story telling, Kirk began to build on his craft. During his time at Brooklyn College Kirk worked on several student’s sets, and took on roles as Production Assistant, Assistant Director, and Director of Photography, to name a few. He also directed several of his own student projects. While still attending Brooklyn College Kirk Revil decided to start a production company. He began to save and buy equipment. He juggled school, a full time job, and freelance jobs as a videographer. Never the one to shy away from learning and experiencing deferent atmospheres within the entertainment industry, Kirk interned at HBO MTV, and BET. He also had the opportunity to serve as a cameraman for BET’s “Rap City” on several occasion as a intern. For his thesis film, Mr. Revil wrote directed and produced “Back Home” a short film that tells a story about Darrell Hart, an African American male who returns from jail and tries to set his life back on the right path. During the summer of 2009 Mr.Revil Wrote, directed and produced a short film titled “Invisible” which he is currently submitting to film festivals. After Graduating from Brooklyn College Kirk began running his production company full time. Revilution Media was named by combining Kirk Revil’s last name with the word revolution. The concept behind the name refers to the art of film making, and taking story telling to another level. The film industry is changing. No longer are the big studios the only players in creating film content. With technology changing, and with the ability to buy equipment at affordable rates, filmmaking is no longer in the hands of the few, but the masses. All you need is a camera and a creative mind, that in it self is revolutionary.

Gotta keep the fans happy
Skype may be the best thing since the net has came online. I got G-Que representing Houston via his hometown New Iberia LA. I caught up with him while he was out in the gulf of mexico. this mc is also the host of a club in H-Town (Club ). G-Que leaks tracks on request. “Gotta keep the fans happy,” he tells me as I try to get the ok to push the music to the streets. He is not only settling in the us, but he has shows poppin off in japan. As with any mixtape you have the artist giving a jack beat a new twist. G-Que is no different in aspect of of that, but his flow and delivery makes you wonder why didn’t he get the beat instead of the mainstream artist. He rips the beats apart and adds g-que to it.”My Time” is one

“its Time for The Obama Of Rap…I run OHIO” LINC BEAN
Linc bean knows the music history of his home state Ohio. Before our ‘My Block My Booth’ interview (tba) we talked about the industry of the past and the digital industry. Nevertheless, Linc Bean is on top of the industry politics. Linc bean says, “its Time for The Obama Of Rap.” He claims the change the independent and mainstream music needs. the business is top priority on the list. The “street muzik” mixtape and bonus dvd was well accepted when it arrived at the mprintedia office. We can listen and look for the new or the next thing to take over all day. But when it comes to link bean he is solidifying himself in the position to be the “been new…done took over!” The announcement of his Mixtape is being widespread throughout the rap community. If you haven’t heard, its time to wake up. He is calling out to djs to host this display of 16 bars that will cover 40 songs, and will include 4 yet to be released singles. His next big project after the “Art of 16” will be his “Blood in…Blood out” mixtape. All the efforts from Linc bean are aimed at putting his city on the map. “Mr. International,” the title of his soon to be released album, also carries heavy anticipation. “’Mr. International’ explains my nationwide recognition.” Its not to be a fan of hot music. Linc does his own foot and keeps the mentality, “jump on board or watch the ship roll away.” It gets even more in depth as he makes the claim to Cincinnati “when you think of Cincinnati…think of Linc Bean.” follow mprintmedia on twitter to hear Linc Bean give you the raw from his bloc and his booth.

“SWAG SHAWTY” C i n c i n n ati stan d up!
I had the pleasure of Skype’n up with Young Montana. Let me tell you readers, there is a lot of us who do “IT” at a young age, but this 19 year is doing it big. Now with all independent artists I try to remain neutral, not to pick or lean toward a favorite. But this guy right here…70 singles and 2 mixtapes to his name makes it hard not to want to pick him first. “They goin crazy off dat ‘Shorty Goin Ham,’”Montana tells me. This is the new “Tear da Club Up Anthem,” common straight out of ‘Natti.’ His upcoming mixtape “Swag World” is anticipated to being his best best collections of beats, rhymes and his “swag shawty” alias. Montana has the ability to fill up an iPod easily. He runs down the names of his singles like a list of his favorite foods or movies. He is yet to tell us the title of the song “that will f***K up the world.” If it is anything like the material he has already completed, i can see the world being turned upside down. Heavily banking on his strong female fan-base

With the tracks “Welcome to the Suite” and “I Rest My Case” you most definitely get the feel of the Champs style. In our interview on Skype Ill Will talks of his early beginnings in the music industry and his bouts that lead him to his current title. BUSINESS FIRST... THEN COMES THE MUSIC There is a point when you know that the game is not a game. Young Semi has had his share of unsavory characters here and there and he has put the ball in his court 100%. Keeping his team very close and himself well educated, Young Semi has the music business the way he needs it. “10 Steps ahead,” is a self explanatory title to his current mixtape. On the single “imma shine” Semi wastes no time making it a point to show that major league ent. Has a predator on the team. “Spotlight,” is the perfect blend of hip hop and r-n-b. Ladies this is the one for you. I had to catch this go getta between sessions, but the wait was well worth it. He tells me that “I aint just trying to stay in the streets…I wanna go overseas with it.” Semi takes the go-getta mentality by coming out with 5000 copies to the streets all over florida and the east coast. I try to remain unbiased as much as possible to all artists when I can. But listening to Young Semi and Yak Boi (semi’s cousin) tells me that it is real heat in the streets that these major labels are turning away from. Thanks to labels such as major league we are getting the privilege to hear a Young Semi. Hear more of Young Semi’s my block my booth podcast (tba) on Mprintmedia.Com radio. What’s luv got to do with it? Exactly what does Valentine’s Day mean to you?
Artist of the Month Rese Vale is a young man who is definitely some one to watch. This 17 year old artist, and I mean artist with a pen and paint brush, illustrates raw independence on any given canvas. This providence Rhode Island native says his talents and teaching of art came from his grandmother. “She taught me many things about art, one of them was if you can imagine something in your mind…you can make a plain sheet of paper come to life, and I believed her.” This young artist should be an inspiration to both young and old entertainers or inspiring entrepreneurs. I am a firm believer that the pen is mightier than the corner. This young man clearly has his head on straight and it shows up in his mural dedicated to Eazy E.
Check our “artist of the month” and give him the thumbs up and encouragement our children need today. Contact Rese Vale: 401 475 9609
While channel-surfing, I see previews for the Valentine’s Day movie starring 50-11 Hollywood stars. The preview itself is so jumbled that I couldn’t even begin to tell you what the actual movie is about, other than the fact that all 50-11 stars have some funny take on Valentine’s Day and the audience is supposed to find it all charming and relatable.
The tale of David and Kim is not at all far-fetched and my point is this – why is it that David can only show his appreciation for Kim on that one day, cheesy presents aside. And why is Kim all ready to push aside David’s inability to be a good boyfriend on that one day just because he bought her the cheesy presents? Her standards are too low and his expectations are too high. If either of them were experiencing love, their positive actions would not be limited to this one incredibly commercialized manufactured “holiday”.
But really, what IS Valentine’s Day? On the real, I don’t see where this one day merits the hype. It ranks up there somewhere between St. Patrick’s Day, Columbus Day and Washington’s birthday. And don’t even hit me with the whole,“she must be bitter” line – I’m far from it. However, I fail to see why this one day gets as much shine as it does. Let me paint a picture for you. Take a look at David Mostmen and his boo, Kim Sumchickz. David and Kim have been dating for almost a year. He’s generally late for about 70% of the dates that he and Kim plan, and he has, on occasion, blown her off to hang with the fellas. Kim is constantly running her mouth to her girls about how David is a lousy boyfriend and that she is checking for one of David’s homey’s. She may even be plotting a Luscious, who knows. Bottom line, they are not a picturesque couple. Fast-forward to February 14th. David waits until the day of, buys a half-dead rose from 7-11 and some cheap chalky candy hearts and proudly presents them to Kim with a “Love you Boo”. Kim immediately becomes giddy when she receives her presents which, let’s be honest, were cute in what, 1st grade? David immediately obtains his booty pass for the evening so his mission is accomplished. And when February 15th rolls around, they fall back into the same patterns that they were in on February 13th – dysfunction.
Please do not put all of your chips on the Valentine’s Day slot of the roulette wheel that is your relationship. All parties involved need to pay more attention to their words and actions on the 364 other days of the year. You know, the days where no one is screaming at you to be in love and buy cheap chocolates. Men, be thoughtful and considerate year-round. The grand gestures are nice, but the little gestures are the things that will cement your place in the heart of person in your life. Women, appreciate your man, and show that appreciation at every opportunity. You never know what your encouragement could mean to him and how it can strengthen your bond. Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean anything to me. What do you think?
