Wow!! That’s mom upside down, and make sure you tell your mom you love her sometime soon, you’ll both be glad you did. Can you believe its August already? It’s soon time for back to school. More importantly it’s time for Loretta’s, yes, that’s right, it’s time for the fastest of you to head south to the Ranch. If your going, good luck, if your not, cheer on someone who is. Also, all you flat track racers out there, you just had your Amateur Nationals last month. Check out the list of finishers here in MRA. Some locals did real well and sorry if I missed anybody. There are 2 new features this month in MRA, please take the time to check out our Photo Gallery – we’re trying to get as many pictures of you in as we can, be sure to check our website for many more MRA Photos (www.motorcycleracingaction.com). Also, we have started a classified section in our Market Place. If you have race bikes or race gear or anything race related for sale, be sure to advertise it where the racers are. Call MRA to help move that unused stuff. Again, I would like to thank everyone that supports MRA. Readers, advertisers, racers, parents, contributors and everyone else I forgot. Because of all you, racing is growing in our area. Lets all stick together and support the sport we love. Until next time!!

MRA bumped into District Champ Jeremy Cook at The Yamaha All Star National hosted by Doublin Gap MX Park last month. Jeremy's one of the great local talents racing in the District 6 region as well as all of the East Coast AMA Chevy Trucks Outdoor National Series. Jeremy has been around this sport for many years, he started racing at the early age of 4. His dad, a local expert racer at the time got Jeremy started in the sport that he loved to participate in. Jeremy recalls his first motorcycle, it was a Suzuki JR 50, in fact Jeremy actually started on a quad but quickly moved into the motorcycle ranks to showcase his young talent. Fast forward 11 years and a lot of dedication and hard work from both Jeremy and his family in 2000 Jeremy turned expert. By last year 2002, Jeremy had captured his first expert district title by finishing 1st overall in the 250A class and 2nd in the 125A class. As of print date Jeremy is your current points leader in D-6 in both of those classes, all while chasing after the Outdoor National Series. Jeremy's goal right now is to capture a Top 100 National Number and to race Pro Motocross. He also ask that we thank all of his sponsors and his mom and dad. Jeremy thanks for the interview and we wish you well.

WOLFMANNS MX
Manns Choice, PA – July 5, 2003 Hey motocross racers, you want to know a secret? Yeah that’s right, WOLFMANNS MX. Just a few exits west on the turnpike you’ll find this relatively new MX facility located in District 5 just waiting to fulfill your every riding pleasure. Wolfmanns offers something for everyone, from its grass start to its 101 foot step up combination double jump there is fun waiting to be had for all. The course is a mile and a half long with a modified course for the 50cc bikes. The laps are long so everyone gets plenty of ride time. Wolfmanns is full of tables, doubles, a whoop section and a downhill triple jump and like I mentioned before the “101” for those of you that have a pilots license. The track is plenty wide for passing opportunities and even though it offers a lot of air time the jumps are all safe for the beginning rider as well. The folks at Wolfmanns were all very friendly and the event was well run. They offer hot food with cool drinks at their concession stand and there’s even a creek to cool off in between motos. So pack up those rigs and head out to the Wolfmanns MX. You can check them out on the world wide web at: www.wolfsmoto.com or give them a call at Photographs By (814) 623-9235. You’ll be glad you did. – Jim Bull, MRA Motorcycle Racing Action

Harescramble at Jack Frost June 15, 2003
Stories By Jason Hughes Sunday June 15th was round #6 of the Pennsylvania State Harescramble series. The event was located at Jack Frost Ski Resort in the Poconos. Jack Frost is home to Traxx MX park. They have several motocross tracks for all skill levels of ATV riders and dirtbike riders including several challenging harescramble courses in the woods. The race course was laid out over several miles of rocky woods, tight fresh cut trails and fast grassy ski slopes. The track was dry this round and the soil in the woods was perfect for keeping the dust down. The start was at the base of Jack Frost's tubing hill and led racers up the hill and off into the woods. The 2 stroke A class was first off the line with Lykens Pa.'s Mike Lucas pulling the holeshot on his Banshee. The Banshee had the power to pull the big hill and lead the field of screaming 2 stroke into the woods. Rob Hertz from Brookhaven Pa. was first to challenge Lucas for the lead. Rob was followed by Mark Walters and Tom Hertz. Rob Hertz was able to take the lead but it was short lived as he had rear shock problems that made the ATV hard to handle. Mark Walters chased the Lucas piloted Banshee but came up just short as Lucas went on to take the win. The battle of the day was in our 4 stroke A class. What used to be a sea of red just a few years ago has become a field of yellow. Its seems the Suzuki Z400 has become a popular mount for local and national racers alike. Pro Parts Racing's Mike Krachun battled with Sunbury Pa's Chris Borich the entire race, only to come in second behind the #4 ranked GNCC racer in the country. Both racers rode Z400's outfitted with goodies from LRD and Custom Axis. Pro Parts racing in New Jersey has quickly become a major player in the ATV aftermarket industry. There presence not only at the GNCC's but at the local D6 races shows the positive intentions with our sport. Thanks to the entire Krachun family for bettering our sport and giving us another place to buy all those shiny goodies for the quads! A special congratulations to Stephanie Kenney for her win in the 4 stroke B class. Steph usually runs in the top of the field and has been close to a win all year. This race was not an easy win though. Stephanie battled with Scranton Pa.'s Ralph Johnson who had the lead from the start. Johnson led three out of the four laps before being hunted down by Kenney. Steph was laying down a blistering pace and overtook Johnson with 1 lap to go. Johnson then had electrical problems leaving him stranded in the woods. Steph went on to win, this win will move her well into the top five in points. Way to go Steph!! The 2 stroke B class was won this round by Mark Thompson. Our points leader and usual winner Nate Gogno was left on the starting line with a fouled plug and had to play catch up all day. Another Pa State round is in the books and with less than five races left the points are starting to pile up. We'll have a run down on the points and more race coverage coming soon.
Jason and Jacob Hughes
Back Mountain Harescramble July 13, 2003
Round #7 of the Pa. State Harescramble series was rescheduled from June 22. The race was held in Plymouth Pa. just south of Scranton on July 13th. Racers were greeted with great weather and a well watered track. The last few weeks of rain had made this track nearly dust free, with very little mud. The course did need to be shortened from past years because of flooding in the area. The Back Mountain harescramble has become known for its high speed and slick woods. The course is marked off in the sandy, rutted fields with tape and leads into several miles of woods trails. The woods trails are hard packed and slick, and make the ATV's handle as thought there on ice, while the fields are loose and sandy with some whoops and ruts. In the woods there are two bridges where you cross under the highway and there is a mud crossing where in past years there has been a bridge built. This year there was no deep mud, but there were several off camber creek beds and tight moguls to overcome. Rob Hertz took the early lead with a holeshot in the 2 stroke A class. He was pursued by Hertz Racing teammates Sean Neidlinger and Tom Hertz. A pack of screaming 2 strokes followed the Hertz Racing/OneIndustries/Maxxis/LRD/ Tag teammates but it appeared by the completion of lap one that they were having there own race today. Mike Lucas aboard his Yamaha Banshee was stuck in the back of the pack and had little chance to challenge the front running Hertz crew. Lucas who is usually leading the charge to the front was having trouble working through the pack. Lap after lap Hertz added minutes to his lead and eventually took the overall win for the day. In the four stroke A class Jon Bowers got his Honda 400EX fired first and rocketed off in the lead followed by Todd Rothermel,Harlen Foley,Chris Borich and Mike Krachun. Borich was the first to make a move for the lead and was able to put his new Yamaha450 up front before the end of lap one. Mike Krachun followed Borich in second place while Marylands Harlen Foley on a Suzuki Z400 put the move on Rothermels Polaris for third position. Krachun had problems on lap two handing the second spot to Foley. Borich kept his Yamaha just under a minute ahead of Foley the rest of the race and took the win. This win may have boosted Borich into the points lead moving Foley back to second. In the B classes it was Mark Thompson again in the two stroke class edging out Nate Gogno for the win. Nate led most of the race and the two racers had a great battle to the finish but Thompson came out on top this week. The 4 stroke class was won this week by the Cannondale of Matt Highlands with Traci Cecco placing her new Yamaha in second position. We'll be back to Back Mnt. on Sept. 7th its truly one of the best tracks on the schedule so if you missed it, you've got another chance this year. See you at the track.

Pit Bike Maryland On July 13, 2003 in an undisclosed location in Northern, MD, MRA had an opportunity to hang out with the crew from Pit Bike Maryland. Pit Bike Maryland is run by a guy named Phil, it all started about three years ago when Phil and 4 of his compadres started banging handlebars in their backyards on stock Honda 50cc pit bikes. Fast forward to present day, Pit Bike Maryland has grown to be the “Greatest Underground Pit Bike Race Series In The World” (according to Phil) I thought it was pretty cool myself. They run several rounds each year with events ranging from short track racing to a beach course, from a grass track built in a field to a full blown hare scramble thru the woods mini style. Pit Bike Maryland runs one class only, stock Honda XR/Z 50 motorcycles. They believe stock is better, it keeps it cheap and everybody goes home in one piece. They do allow some mods like pipes etc, but no internal engine modifications. Pit Bike Maryland is an invitation only event. They like to get together, run into each other and barbecue when they’re done. They are open to new riders as long as you’re willing to follow the rules. Stock bikes, no hot heads and you’re looking to have fun. Pretty simple I’d say. If you’re interested in learning more or if you wanna go hang out with Pit Bike Maryland, give Phil a call. You can reach him at (410) 840-0568. I hope you enjoy the pictures, if you would like to see shots from the entire event, go to: www.motorcycleracingaction.com – Jim Bull MRA

Yamaha All Doublin Gap MX Park
Addison Emory the III and the IV Make it a family outing.
The Yentzer family, owners of the Doublin Gap MX Park in Shippensburg, PA put on another great show as they hosted the 5th Annual Yamaha All Star National. Sponsors for this years event included Yamaha Motor Corp., PR2 Racing Technology Inc, FMF, Rossini Racing Products, Scott Goggles, Boyesen, Twin Air and local Yamaha Dealers Roxys Yamaha, Riders Edge Yamaha and Ray Wilt Yamaha. There were also 5 foot trophies sponsored by Sheckells and Sons Construction. In addition to a weekend full of great MX racing there was a scavenger hunt, karaoke, lots of vendors and good eats. FMF was also there with their semi letting racers do a “try before you buy” deal with their exhaust systems. What a deal, they install a pipe on your bike and you get to try it on the track and if you like it you buy it. The event kicked off on Friday night with open practice to all that had come to compete on the technical Doublin race course. The Yentzers had made some awesome track changes just days prior to the event so Friday was a great opportunity for racers to check out the new course. The racing started off a bright sunny Saturday with a warm up race prior to Sundays All Star National event which was also a District 6 championship points race. There was a great showing of racers as well as a great crowd on hand to cheer on their favorite riders. Riders from several states showed up to battle each other and what a show it was. There were numerous riders that won overalls on both days, see the full results listed right here in the pages of MRA. All of the top expert riders were on hand to showcase their talent. Multiple race winCollege Boy Action ners included the talents of Damian Plotts, Casey Clark, Nicholas Evennou, Jason Lawerence, William Duffy and Colton Bailey. Some youth winners on the weekend were, Sam D. Sheckells, Addison Emory, Jacob Grove, Alex Maldet, and Dustin Lepley. Thanks to all for a great show and make sure you make it out to Doublin Gap real soon, you’ll be glad you did.
June 28, 2003 Results:
Nick Evennou from Kensington, MD dominated the College Boy and 125 B Divisions taking 4 overall wins for he weekend.

Use New Holland Equipment – Doublin Gap Does.
While attending Doublin Gaps Yamaha All Star National in late June this year I was speaking with Jeff Pinehart owner of PR2 Racing Technologies in Quarryville, PA. Jeff had mentioned to me earlier in the year that his company had landed a contract to do all of the engine work for Team Blackfoot Honda in Canada. Team Blackfoot is Honda of Canada, they’ve worked with Honda for the last four years to contest the Canadian National CMRC MX Series. They run an east and a west coast 125cc series similar to the AMA Chevy Trucks Series here in the states. Team Blackfoot has been the strongest contender in Canadian Motocross in the new millennium. With riders like Jean Sebastian Roy and Blair Morgan they’ve managed to win number one and two plates consistently. In 2001 they won 9 out of 10 rounds and in 2002 they took 7 out of the 8 rounds in the 250cc ranks. The 2003 CMRC East Coast Series consists of 4 rounds starting on July 27th and running four consecutive weekends in Eastern Canada. Jeff Pinehart had learned that Team Blackfoot was in need of a rider to round out their 2003 team of Jean Sebastian Roy, Damon Huffman and Randy Valade. Enter local expert rider Jeff Yentzer, PR2 rider and owner along with his family of Doublin Gap MX Park. Jeff has been racing here in Districts 6 and 7 since the early 1980’s. A Carlisle native at 30 years old, Jeff has been an expert racer for the last 12 years. Seven years ago Jeff’s commitment to motocross led him along with his brother Rod and parents Rod and Carol to acquiring Hideaway MX Park in

The Wisp GNCC – June 28, 2003 By Trish Krachun, Pro Parts The 9th round of the GNCC series took place at a top-notch facility located on the Ski Mountains of The Wisp in McHenry, MD. While this facility boasts a rugged racetrack littered with jagged rocks, tight trails, numerous hill climbs & steep downhill sections set up by Racer Productions, Jeff Russell, it also is like a mini playground for all the racers & race fans prior to race time! When you come to The Wisp, you immediately see the golf range, which is located on the ski slope. There is also a golf course located elsewhere on the property, which hosted a tournament between racers on Friday with prizes that night at the Parts Unlimited dinner for everyone. A hotel, restaurant, swimming pool & store are there as well as a large bike/skate park in the parking lot. “This is a great facility, I made a little vacation out of it. I brought my wife & daughter, played some golf, it was a lot of fun!” commented GNCC reigning champion, Bill Ballance. Matt Smiley (#2), Chris Borich (#4), Mike Krachun (#21) & their pit crews headed out to the go-cart facility about a mile down the street Friday night & went wheel-to-wheel a little early! “We had a great time, it was a lot of fun” commented Krachun. Needless to say, this is a favorite race location for most of the GNCC racers & fans! Saturday morning, all the racers are preparing for their race. Some of the top Pro / Pro Production racers take a little time off for interviews. Brad Page, #5 sponsored by Duncan Racing/Roll Design comments on his season so far “I started out on the wrong foot this year at the first race in FL.” (He had kidney stones, which required surgery in FL). “That bad luck has sort of been following me all season!” Brad has jumped into the Pro Production class this year on his Kawasaki KFX400 & finished 10th Overall today & 6th in class... hopefully the Fall races will bring him better luck! Bill Ballance commented on his luck as well “I don’t know if it’s a magic spell, but I’ve been able to finish well, winning all but 1 race so far. I’m really grateful. My sponsors have really been behind me this year, I appreciate everyone’s help” It’s Race Time.... William Yokely, Borich & Smiley pull the holeshot, round the first two turns & race through the snowboard half-pipe into the woods. The 180 degree turn at the bottom of the hill before the half-pipe was a treacherous turn as many racers crashed & spun out there during the race starts of each class. One racer flipped off his quad & the quad raced straight down the hill towards the ski-lift... luckily, it hit one of the poles in front of the lift entry so no one was injured! Borich, Smiley & Ballance went wheel-to-wheel as Yokely, Greg Trew & Santo Derisi battled in the 4-6th positions. Chad Duvall, in 7th needed to pit for a flat tire. Flat tires plagued many racers during this hot summer day! Mid-race, Ballance passed Borich as Borich had flat tire. His crew changed it extremely fast; so luckily, he only lost 30 seconds to Ballance. Yokely was now putting the pressure on Smiley for the 3rd position. Ballance’s lead, however, was short-lived, as his “magic spell” luck had run out. He broke his chain at the top of the mountain & had to glide down to the pits. Luckily, it was all downhill so he didn’t have to settle for a DNF. At the finish, it was 3 Pro class racers. Chris Borich finished with his first win of the season. This was a great comeback race for Borich as he received a broken arm as a welcome present here last year! “I had a great start, got a flat on the 2nd lap & lost 30 seconds on Billy. I caught him in a mud-hole & passed him on the 3rd lap & didn’t see him anymore” commented Borich. Never one to let a flat get him down “I jut get fired up when something happens!” he said. Team Safari/Maxxis/LRD/Pro Parts Racing’s Smiley finished in 2nd a little more than 1 minute behind Borich. “My brakes kept fading, especially on the pavement sections so I fell back. It’s great that us PA racers (Borich & Smiley) finally beat the KY racers (Balance & Yokely)!” said Smiley. Duncan Racing’s Santo DeRisi drove up the podium right after Smiley for 3rd. “Everything worked great today. I had a decent start until I got hit in the 2nd turn. I just kept pushing hard & caught back up” reported DeRisi. Pro Production racers Yokely & Duvall completed the top 5 Overall. Rounding out the 3rd, 4th & 5th positions in the Pro Production class were Todd Knippenberg, Johnny Gallagher & Jason Luburgh. LRD/KLOTZ/MAXXIS backed Billy Ballance finished an amazing 4th in class & 14th overall after losing all that time. Just shows you; you can never count a good man down! This finish still didn’t put a dent in his overall standing as he still leads by over 80 points. It’s going to be nearly impossible for anyone to catch him at this point! Borich stands in 2nd while Duvall sits in 3rd, Yokely & Derisi
The Quad Girl My name is Jessica N Bull. My quad number is 429. I picked that number because my birthday is April 29th and April is the 4th month and the date is the 29th. Well I want to tell you about my quads and dirt bikes I’ve had. Well I had a PW50 first. But by then my brother Trevor had an XR70 and then we sold the PW50 and I started to ride the XR70. Then my brother started to ride a KX85 and he also got a TTR125. So now he has both bikes. So I rode the XR70 just a little bit more. But then I got a 50 Quad but by then my mom wanted one. So then the year after my mom got a Quad. So her and I can go trail riding together. And then a few weeks after that I got a 90 Quad! And guess what????? It has all kinds of things like a horn, turn signals, reverse, and a lot more stuff. Also my mom has all those things except a horn. But the only person who did not get a bike was my dad. But he did have a Yamaha DT175, but that was for the road, but then he sold it. So now he does not have anything to ride,,, but sometimes he rides the TTR. And that’s how many dirt bikes and four wheelers I’ve had. My name is Jessica N. Bull, Jim Bulls daughter from MRA.
complete the top 5 in Overall Points after this race. The top finishing A rider was PA’s Jimmy Wahl who finished in 7th overall & 1st in the 250A class on his Honda Laeger 250R. NJ’s Sean Neidlinger finished 2nd in the 250A class & VA’s Darrell Maples round off the 3rd position in the class. KY’s Jeff Stoess was the next highest finishing A racer finishing 1st in the 4-stroke A class & 17th Overall. KY’s Gregg Stewart finished 2nd & NC’s Bryan Cook completed the top 3 in the 4-stroke A class. Joshua Ribley’s came back from 17th place in his class to win the Open A class defeating Joe Kish & Steve Zapfe.
Morning Action:
While the Women & Super Senior class started out on the first row this race, it was Troy Racing’s Stephanie Parton who grabbed the holeshot as she often does. Her main competition for the championship, Team Alba’s Traci Cecco, spun out in the 2nd turn & started off in 2nd to last place. Cecco didn’t stay there for long, though as she caught & passed Parton at one point during the race. The 4-stroke stock was next to go on the starting line. Josh Cristofori grabbed the lead & soon became the overall leader of the race as the time was adjusted to allow a 1-minute deduction from his time. Team Kawasaki’s Adam Howell & Tyler Lenig (Cecco’s nephew) battled with Josh mid-race. Cristofori’s luck ran out as he DNF’d on the last lap, which allowed Women’s class Parton to grab the overall lead. At the checker flag, it was Parton in first. She had to wait 1 minute to see if she really did take the overall since Adam Howell was closing in on her. Alas, Adam crossed physically 1 minute 14 seconds behind, so she beat him by 14 seconds! Richard Travalena edged out Cecco by 6 seconds for 3rd overall. Finishing 5thoverall was 4-stroke stock class Ty Huth. Parton was ecstatic “This is my 3rd Overall win this year. I had a great start, however a stick in my brake pedal put me back to 3rd. I caught back up & battled with Traci, then rode the rest of the race by myself. Miles 3-5 was really rough... it beats you up really bad with the rocks, water breaks & downhills. If you’re not careful, you’ll go over the cliff! My new LRD frame worked great! This win is for them!!!” Howell commented “I kind of went out there & took it easy - trying not to get any flats. Then I turned it up at the end. This track was great - best one of the year!” Travelena added some comic relief “I pushed it real hard because my girlfriend made a bet with me that if I didn’t get on the podium, I’d have to wear pink grips!”

U.S. National Trials Championship Series June 22nd I was off to shoot round 8 of the U.S. National Trials Championship Series. It was a foggy Sunday morning the rain finally stopped as I approached Farrandsville, a small town across the river from Lock Haven. I grabbed my gear, jumped out of the truck into the sloppy mudd and headed up the side of a slippery, rocky, mucky mountain. In the first 3 stages, I was astounded watching riders hop over moss covered boulders and loose rocks, I had trouble navigating on foot, . The next few stages were full of 1' to 3' logs, 5' to 6' vertical banks and applause from spectators gathered along the red and blue ribbon that outlined each stage. The highlight of my day was at stage 8 when Geoff Arren stopped to look over the terrain, along with 5 other pro riders. As they were helping each other find the best line before tackling the stage they took time to say hello and share there input on the stage with the crowd of fans. Hats off to Durty Dabbers for an outstanding job with rounds 7 and 8 of the 2003 U.S. National Championship Series. I had such a good time, next year I'm camping there for the weekend so I don't miss a thing.

CASEY WINS AT NORTH EAST CLASSIC
Keeney Motosports sponsored Casey Clark beats American Suzuki Rider Broc Hepler at Broome Tioga Sports Center at round 4 of Tommy Hurds North East Classic Series. Hepler recently signed a deal with Suzuki that will see him competing for the team as soon as the Amateur Nationals are complete at Lorretta Lynns in early August. Hepler from western Pa has been the guy to beat in the amateur ranks the last season or so, he was competing at Broome to get a feel for the National Caliber track that he will be racing at as a pro for Suzuki in late August. Clark, a local district 6 expert rider has bumped up to the challenge this year and is competing against the pros at a lot of the outdoor nationals. Casey, I’m sure was there the same as Hepler, getting prepared for the up coming national.
A modern motocross bike comes stock with an amazing suspension. Unfortunately, most riders never get to experience it fully. You see, most bikes are set for a 145 lb. novice rider by the manufacturer. If you happen to be part of the small percentage of 145 lbs. novice riders out there with a new bike, you’re in luck. If you’re not, you’re probably not getting the most out of your bike’s suspension. At TBT, we’re here to change that. TBT Racing has been in the suspension and engine modification business for over 13 years. Working with novice through pro riders TBT helps them get the most out of their suspension. Team Subway MX riders #54 Jason Thomas, #71 Joe Oehlhof and #76 Ted Cambell, have used TBT Racing suspension and engine setups to qualify for more Supercross mains than any other privateer team. Local expert rider Casey Clark also uses TBT Suspension upgrades on his class winning YZF’s. Now you can put that same winning technology into your racing equipment. Our services include complete disassembly, cleaning and inspection. Then reassembled with the best Enzo fluids and highest quality parts from KYB and Showa. During reassembly careful attention is paid to ensure the correct parts are used to tailor the suspension to your custom needs. TBT also offers customer phone assistance and track side support at all amateur national events. Choose a suspension and engine company with a track record for outstanding customer service, hours of track and dyno testing, using the highest quality parts.

Although I was not present, sources say it was some of the best racing they have seen in a long time. Clark and Hepler went nose to nose in both the 125 and 250 expert divisions. Hepler was victorious in the 250 class winning both motos, with Clark finishing 4th overall. (2nd right behind Hepler in the second moto) In the 125 class the battle was on, Casey and Broc took off and put on the race of the day, there was no one else in sight. Casey finished 1 – 1 for the overall and Broc went 2 – 2 for second. What can this mean for Casey, going head to head with the newest Suzuki hopeful and coming out on top. Keep your eyes on this young man, maybe you should get his autograph while you still can. – Jim Bull, MRA

9th Annual Kevin McNicholas Memorial Short Track Series: Round 1 Greenland Grabs Gold at Timonium ST Opener By Len Breech TIMONIUM, MD. JULY 16, 2003
Austin Greenland helped launch the 9th Annual Kevin McNicholas Memorial Short Track Series with wins in the 85 and 125 classes on his Greenland Masonry sponsored machines. The Baltimore County Trail Riders/Cockeysville Optimist Club sponsored event is named for a club member who died from cystic fibrosis. The profits from this four week, five race series goes to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In the 85 class, he took the lead from Joey Parks, Chris MacCarty, Brian Myers and 65 winner, Tyler Kidwell. While Greenland pulled away, MacCarty started to pressure Parks from the halfway point. He took second as they began the final lap and held on for second overall. The 125 had Greenland jumping in front of Brandon Robinson, Joey Parks and Tony Whipperman. Robinson stayed close in the early laps in another typical Greenland/Robinson battle, but Greenland started to pull away to a straightaway margin at the end. Joe Dragunas put pressure on Whipperman by halfway, finally getting by on the outside with just over a lap left for fourth spot. Doubles seemed to be the predominate theme of the evening. Raun Wood took the 250 A and 600 A finals in almost identical fashion. He put his Scott Power Sports/Greenland Masonry sponsored Honda in front immediately with Bryan Douglas and John Lewis right behind. Lewis slipped under Douglas coming off the fourth turn on the opening lap. Over the next seven laps, the order stayed the same with only about a length between each rider for most of the final. In the 250 A, only the addition of two riders behind the front trio changed the mix. The results were the same. The same bike won twice also. Jim Hollister easily won the 30 + class, with Dave Smith, Jay Boarman and David Reeves battling over second. Reeves took control of second as they started the fifth lap, but Hollister had already checked out. Scott Saunders borrowed Hollister’s machine for use in the 40 + class. He took the lead right away from Mike Keane, John Henderson, Mark Stambaugh and Dave Smith. Saunders easily held the lead, with his only problem almost stalling the unfamiliar Rotax in the turns. Henderson took second on the fourth lap. Smith was moving through the field, and along with Keane and Stambaugh, got in a close battle for third. The three came off the second turn on the seventh lap side by side, on a track that’s not quite wide enough for three wide, especially the ‘wide-body’ 40 + ers. Smith’s handlebar caught Keane who went down before he knew what happened. Smith ended up in third and Stambaugh took fourth. The Sheckells brothers dominated the 50 classes with Storm easily taking the 50 (7-8) group, and Sam also easily winning the 50 (4-6) class. But Sam got the large crowd cheering in the 50 Oil Injected class. He was in front and started pulling away, but on the third lap, he fell in turn two, rejoining in fifth place. While Colton Smith, Jeremiah Snow and Carter Dumps were battling for second, it now was for the lead. Sheckells started cutting through the field, making up the margin. Fourth place was quickly taken, and he took second as they started the final lap, but he came up a little short in catching Smith as the crowd roared its approval. Bill Boram took the 600 B lead from Chris Davis, Ryan Henderson and Jonathan Jordan. Henderson took second entering turn three on the second lap, with Jordan also moving by Davis. Jordan then started pressuring Henderson for second. He started working the outside line, staying beside Henderson for a few laps. On the seventh lap, they touched in the
250 A: Winner Raun Wood [88] (also won the 600 A class)
second turn, withHenderson falling. Jordan came back later and easily won the 250 B class from Henry Mangers and Ryan Henderson. Samantha Resch led wire to wire to win the Women’s class. Jack Stedding had an easy time winning the 500 2 Valve, with Brian Eckhart topping Bryand Douglas for the 750 win. Chris Klinefelter took the Crazies, for the XR-100 “based” machines.
