One issue down, I hope everyone enjoyed my first issue last month. Taking over this position has sure been a learning curve for me. While I have been involved in the media for a few years, I have never been on this side of things. I want to thank everyone at Engle for taking the time and bearing with all my questions. Jeff, Jamie, Nate and the rest of the family, thank you! As the race season comes to a close, I am sure we have all been kept busy with trying to keep up with the news. In the bike world, major switches are being made, one being James Stewarts move to Yamaha while Chad Reed moves on from Yamaha to Suzuki. Doesn’t that make the offseason and anticipation for the 2009 season even worse? While James has proved his ability aboard the new machine at Bercy, Reed has done the same back home in Australia. You can’t forget Villopoto making the move into the 450 class either. Will he have
what it takes to battle his former teammate? While some teams are cutting back on their race programs, it only has enhanced the focus on their main riders. In the ATV world, local D6 racer, Dustin Wimmer, brought home the 2008 championship. The rumors have been flying around about team switches. Without a dominate force like in the bike industry, it could be nearly anyone’s game in 2009. If rumors became truth and riders made the rumored switches, I will be at a total loss to say who is going to go big in 2009 and win the championship. In sad news, you will find within this issue that Rausch Creek has announced the closing of the MX park. While I am sure it was financially the right move for them, it is a sad day for our community. As another park/track closes, we are left searching for more riding spots. In light of this news, our next issue will feature a review of Breezewood Proving Grounds, in hopes of providing everyone with information on one of the few remaining MX practice parks in PA. Back with the good news, I recently was told that Travis Pastrana has been at work in preparing a TV series for MTV to be released next spring. The show will follow his “Nitro Circus” title. While it might be a replacement for their last “crazy stunts” show, it will surely do good things for this industry. If the economy is as bad as the media makes it seem, then this is exactly what we need. In closing, I would like to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. While I am way behind on my shopping, I love the Holiday season and getting together with the family.

Dowd and Kessler are NJ State Champs
Raceway Park - October 19, 2008 - Englishtown, NJ by Scott Lukaitis
Raceway Park in Old Bridge Township played host to the 23rd annual NJ State Championships presented by Suzuki on October 19th. The race was moved from its traditional summer date to a mid October date in order to be a qualifying event for the Tri-State Race of Champions. The Tri-State Race of Champions will take place at the beginning of November at Walden MX and feature the top racers in each class from each of 3 qualifying races, the NY, PA, and NJ State Championships, to determine the Tri-State Champion. Sunday’s NJ State Championships took place under typical northeast fall weather. Crisp cool temperatures greeted the 500 plus riders in attendace and since this was the last race of Raceway Park’s season everyone wanted to end on a high note. The first Open Expert moto of the day saw Fox backed Honda rider Adam Blessing grab the holeshot and the early lead. He was followed up “the staircase” by Moose Suzuki rider John Dowd and Thor/Dragon backed Honda rider Anthony Roth. When the lead pack came over “the plunge” on the first lap it was still Blessing, Dowd and Roth but they were joined by Raceway Park track champion KPS/MCC backed Dakota Kessler and Suzuki mounted James Decotis. Early into lap number 2 Kessler made his move on Blessing and tried to check out on the field. Meanwhile Roth, Dowd, and Decotis were locked in a battle swapping postions with each other on a turn by turn basis. In the end Kessler held on to take the win followed by Blessing, Dowd,

Decotis and Roth. Roth grabbed the holeshot ahead of Dowd and Decotis while the top 2 riders from moto 1, Kessler and Blessing, suffered from poor starts and would be forced to work through a very fast pack of racers. The Suzuki trio of Dowd, Decotis and Stewart remained close for the moto and would finish in that order. Blessing made a run on Stewart but would fall short at motos end and had to settle for fourth. In the end it was Dowd’s 3-1 moto scores taking the overall followed by Decotis (4-2) in second and Blessings (2-4) for third. First moto winner Kessler would go (1-5) for fourth overall and Stewart’s (7-3) rounded out the

top 5. Dowd would grab the holeshot in the first 250 Expert moto followed closely by Kessler, Decotis and Ocean County Powersports rider Ronnie Stewart. Dowd tried to make a pass at the end of the first lap but Kessler held off the former Supercross Lites Champion. Dowd got by the hometown rider and the two went on to battle for the lead. The two riders went on to battle Kessler eventually getting the upperhand to take the lead and moto win. Decotis also got by Dowd to go on for second with Dowd settling for third. Moto two Dowd again out front with the holeshot followed by Stewart and John Dowd brings home a 2nd Kessler and the rest of the place in the 250 expert class field. Dowd began to gap the field and even survived a late moto charge from Kesser day information this winter. to hold on for the moto victory. Kessler would finish second and NJ Championships Decotis would take third. Kessler’s Old Bridge Township (1-2) motos would be good enough Raceway Park for the overall followed by Dowd Suzuki NJ State 10/19/08 Results (3-1), Decotis (2-3), Stewart (4-4) and Michael Stryker (6-5) rounding 65cc 7-9 1) Brandon Hartranft; 2) David out the top 5. Getting Sideways with Cory Texter
As most of you know our season is over for 2008. I guess I had an up and down season. Mostly because this was a learning year for me. I raced against the best the world had to offer last season and also in season’s past at local races, but those were on tracks I was familiar with on 450cc motorcycles. Now I got to line up with Chris Carr and Kenny Coolbeth on XR 750’s at the Springfield Mile. I thought I had what it took to jump right in and be competitive, but I was way wrong. I can have all the confidence in the world, but I was still lacking the one thing these guys had that was most important. Experience. I took my licks in the beginning of the year, but towards the end I seemed to figure it out. I learned more this year then ever that racing is probably 80% mental and 20% skill. Hard to believe, but it is true. When you get a rhythm down that you know you can succeed, it makes things so much easier on you. The goal for next season is to put myself in the top 15 in overall points and lay down some top 10 finishes and hopefully a top 5 or a podium as well. If the bikes are working well, and everything is clicking I feel this shouldn’t be a problem. The good thing is that I feel main event competitive on all types of race tracks on every type of motorcycle. There are some guys who can only make the mile mains, and some who can only make the cushions, and some who can only ride 450’s or 750’s. I feel great on everything and that is a huge weight of my shoulders. Locally, I won both of the “A” classes in District 6. Brandon Robinson will be handing me his number one plate personally at the banquet. Haha, just kidding. Brandon and I like to kid each other about winning the district championships every year. District 6 has about 30-35 races every year and with our busy schedule we only get to race about 10-15 of them. Most of our tracks around the district are the same. Slippery and small. It is rare we get to stretch our wings on a big track like a 1/2 mile where 80% or so of our pro races are held on. It is sometimes fun racing around home on the off-weekends though. Some of our local pro’s who don’t fair well on the big tracks, go really good on the slippery bull-ring tracks we race at around here so it adds some fun to it. It is also entertaining to see a local rider throw his hands up in the air and do victory wheelies when they win a “holeshot” race on a ice slick track over you. Being that I weigh 125lbs, and I race my high horsepowered dtx honda at these little tracks, it makes things fun. We are not going to
them to 32mm. This means we are going to have around 10hp or so taken away from us then last year. Again, I think this will help me because I have alot of experience riding restricted 750’s. I don’t think this will hurt us TOO bad, as opposed CoryTexter.com to riding the japenese Sponsors: twins like the suzuki and Lancaster Harleykawasaki. We haven’t Davidson, Bob got a schedule yet, but Hilbert Sportswear, I hear 12 singles and Fly Racing, 18 twin races. Wow, we Saddlemen, shall be busy. Better Arai, Oakley, pack my favorite teddy Ogio, Cytosport, bear. I also heard we Stoner Solutions, are going to change Wurth USA, WRT the short track main Web Designs, events from 25 to 40 MotoOption, G2 laps. I have experience Ergonomics, racing harescrambles B&B Travel and I train for this kinda Control, Precision stuff, so the more laps Motorcycle the better. Heck, id be Products, PR2, content with 100 lap Motion Pro, main events and you Wiseco, Metro have to pit on lap 50. Racing, SixSixOne, Ok I know this isn’t Brian Beddow, NASCAR, but still. We K&N Filters, Kicker should get finalized information in the next couple weeks, so that’s what we are waiting for in that department.
some new sponsors for next season, so I can go racing. Other then that, just helping out at my fathers harley shop as much as I can and training 3-4 nights a week. I have been finding 1 or 2 days a week to ride as well, trying to get some seat time in before winter arrives. Since the economy is so down right now, we are all just trying to save some money and it’s really hurting the sponsorship outlook for every racer around the country. We aren’t giving up and neither should anyone else. If we all help one another out, we will get through this sooner then you think. I did however host my first riding school a couple weeks ago with fellow new national number Brandon Robinson. We had a good first turn-out and everyone had alot of fun and learned alot. We are hoping to have another one in the spring. Shoot me over an email if anyone is interested. It is awesome to be able to help the younger kids coming up and help them succeed as they progress. Kids like Ryan Varnes, Dalton Gauthier, Brandon Price have really impressed me over the past year and our future looks bright!
Not alot is coming up in weeks to come. I have been working everyday trying to secure
Thanks again Bob Hilbert. Until the next issue, stay warm and enjoy Thanksgiving everyone.

be doing as many local races as before. Part of that being my sister destroys 2-3 motorcycles a year racing local stuff. It is good to support to the clubs who helped make you what you are, but for $100 it is not worth it to me anymore. If the local clubs can raise some extra money for us to risk our lives on, maybe. I guess I can talk about the changes for next year now. The important thing with the 450’s is we are no longer allowed to use aftermarket frames. This means we can’t use the “dirttrack” style frames like we have been. Stock motocross frames only. I like the idea of this and it should work to my advantage. I have been riding the 450 stock frames since I started racing in 2003, and feel just as fast as anyone on them. For the XR 750’s, we have to restrict
Bob Hilbert Sportswear has jumped on board next season to help me with my T-Shirts. I will have custom Texter Racing T-Shirts available in the next couple weeks. The design is awesome and I am really excited about getting them released. Check out BobHilbert. com or CoryTexter.com for more information. Bob helping us is also special to me because he made T-Shirts for my grandfather when he was in the prime of his sprint car racing career. I will have information on the website soon about ordering information.

Well, hello everyone. I guess it’s been two months or so since I wrote to you. My good buddy Jim Bull relinquished his duties as the MRA crew chief over to my new good buddy Shane Hartman. Jim did an awesome job putting Motorcycle Racing Action on the map in the northeast region here and especially in district six. He still lives a couple minutes up the street, so I get to pester him from time to time! I have talked with Shane quite a bit and although we can never replace Jim Bull, Shane would be my second pick for the job. Very down to earth and intelligent young man. He is a really talented photographer as well. So now that we got all that straightened out, lets talk two wheels!

BREAKING NEWS!!! Rausch Creek Shuts Down MX Park MRA Staff Report | Photos by Shane Hartman Rausch Creek has been the birth place of many local racers since they opened their MX Park. It has given new riders the chance to try their hand at a motocross track without the pressue or time or fellow racers. It was a place where up and coming racers could go gain speed by running with the faster riders that have visited the track. It was a place where families could pack up and ride off into the woods through miles of trails. Offering different level tracks and safe jumps, Rausch has been a key ingredient to many of todays ATV and Bike expert riders. Having met many of my current close friends and riding partners at the facility, I am sure it will be missed as the last day of November marked the closing of the doors. Official Press Release Commercial Development Spurs Consolidation of Rausch Creek Off Road Riding Facilities Rausch Creek MX & ATV Park to close, Rausch Creek Trailriders growth to continue
As seen in various videos, The facility boasted many bowl turns ready to be attacked
Valley View, PA, November 15, 2008: Rausch Creek MX & ATV Park, located at the intersection of Routes 81 and 209 in Tremont, PA, will cease operation at the end of November, 2008 to make way for longplanned commercial development of this valuable interchange property. Rausch Creek’s remaining motorsports operations, Rausch Creek Trailriders in Valley View/Tower City and Rausch Creek Offroad Park in Lincoln will continue to cater to each of their strong enthusiast followings. All scheduled events, especially Rausch Creek’s two annual AMA sanctioned hare scramble races, will proceed as usual on Rausch Creek’s vast land holdings. Options for hosting non-member riders and adding motocross at the Rausch Creek Trailriders facility are being explored, but will not be acted upon in the 2009 season. Rausch Creek Land, L.P. (“RCL”) manages over 13,000 acres in the Tri-Valley area with a wide variety of natural resource reserves. Rausch Creek Motorsports, LLC and Rausch Creek Powersports, LLC serve motorsports interests on the property.
The range of jump intensity helped riders gain confidence without any pressure

Inside Lancaster Harley-Davidson Willow Street, PA
MRA Staff report | Photos by: Shane Hartman ancaster HarleyDavidson (Willow Street, PA) opened it’s doors in 1951 with Ray Texter as the owner. Alongside his wife, Betty, they built it from the ground up. Their first store was located in Lancaster City right off Hazel Street. When the business expanded, the company moved to its current location right off 222 in Willow Street, Pennsylvania. The main shop has expanded a couple times since the move. Adding more showroom space and a third story for offices was first completed. Then the service area was expanded with more technician areas and a full-size wash bay. In addition to the main shop, the current location also has two big warehouses. One is strictly for storage and the other serves as storage but also has a full-size kitchen in it for open houses and special events. Also located in this warehouse are many
Davidson has been prepping Piston Poppers TT, which is a track located of Rt.30 in Parkesburg, PA. Starting this year, they have also been working with their ‘local’ race track right in Lampeter, Pennsylvania. The track in Lampeter held two races this year and was a huge success thanks to Randy Texter and his staff at Lancaster HarleyDavidson. Both of these race tracks have been known as the nicest prepared tracks in the northeast area.

old vintage Harley-Davidson motorcycles and some of Randy’s original race bikes. Behind the facility, they also offer a storage lot for motor homes and trailers. A couple years ago, the company turned what was once a grass field into a huge parking lot and that now serves as a “learn to ride” area. Various times through-out the year, the company hosts a Rider’s Edge course which teaches new riders how to ride and
the safety involved with it. After the course is completed, they also have the right to issue a motorcycle license to you. Of course passing the
required written and riding tests is required first! Inside the doors, they offer a wide variety of motorcycles, riding gear, collectibles, and parts. Not only do they specialize in Harley-Davidson, but they also sell Buell motorcycles and Club Car golf carts. The service department is always busy. Whether you want a state inspection and an oil change or a big bore kit and a new exhaust on your
Harley-Davidson Road King, they will take care of you. This 3-story business is truly a masterpiece of technology and architecture. The complex is surrounded by farm land and a beautiful countryside. Not only do they focus on customer service, but for a very long time Lancaster Harley-Davidson has been a huge supporter nation wide in the AMA Flattrack Series. The current owner of Lancaster Harley-Davidson, Randy Texter, started racing motorcycles when he was 9 years old. After a long, successful career in the both the AMA Pro Flattrack and Road racing scene, he retired. He decided he wanted to keep racing alive and well inside the dealership after he hung up his steel shoe. Sponsoring many fast up and coming racers such as Kevin Varnes, Kenny Coolbeth, Dan Butler, Bryan Bigelow, and Jared Mees only proved Lancaster HD knew how to breed some fast racers. Their current race team includes 7-time Grand National Champion Chris Carr and Randy’s two children Cory and Shayna
who are also making their marks in the history of the sport. They have earned their spots on the team, not only because they are Randy’s children but because of their growing success in the sport. Cory received his national number in his first year as a professional, one of only 47 in the world for 2009. Shayna was the 2nd ranked pro-sport in the country for 2008 with 5 wins and 7 overall podiums. In addition to sponsoring racers, Lancaster Harley-Davidson also builds and preps two local race tracks in District 6. Since 2005, Lancaster Harley-
The business holds a fullsize dyno room where the race bikes are tested as well as a race shop where the motors are built. Ray Texter still continues to work on the teams XR 750’s and those bikes are still thought of as one of the best privateer bikes in the series. Randy Texter serves as racing manager and head crew chief for the team. Cory and Shayna’s main focus is on their racing careers, but when they hang up their steel shoes they also want to be a part of Lancaster Harley-Davidson and continue the racing tradition. ‘As long as there are at least two motorcycles, competitive attitude, and we’re having fun, we’ll be there’ says Cory. Stop in today to support the business that supports your hobby as a passionate motorcycle racing enthusiast.

Hello MRA readers and subscribers, my name is Zachary A. Camp and I am 26 years old. I graduated from Antietam Bible College with a bachelors in Pastoral Studies. I am married to Anna and we have two children Talitha and James. I work full time at Cedar Ridge Ministries as a residential care specialist a.k.a. house parent. I started racing when I was 10 year old, I was a winning youth rider, frequently coming home with a first place trophy. I was track champion at doubling gap at least twice and district 7 champion once in the 80cc class. I advanced from C-B-A in two seasons. I raced the Pro 4-stroke nationals. I have always race with the # 7 because when I was 10 my grandfather a former missionary for over 30 years told me to ride with # 7 because it is one of God’s blessed numbers. When I was 13 I was very dedicated to the Lord and to racing. Some people at church told me I should not be at the track on Sunday; so I talk to my mom about it. Together we talked to the Lord and for a week I did not worry about that subject which so often plagued my mind every day. The Lord then told me in my heart and mind: I want you to race. Within week my church came out with a Sunday school class at 8 am so I went to church then left for the track to race; God provided because he had a plan. My dream was to be a pro motocross racer. I could have held a pro card but I decided not to send in my papers because I realized that I did not have the dedication I needed to do it just yet. I had worked my whole career to be pro then decided not to do it.
The start of Victory in Jesus Ministries When I was in tenth grade I was praying about what the Lord wanted me to be when I grow up, after several months of prayer and ideas the Lord clearly told me to be a preacher. While in my first year of Bible college and racing every weekend in the A class. I was at a Doublin Gap rider’s meeting and after the meeting the Lord told me in my spirit “Preach to these People.” I said in silent prayer, “Lord if I am really hearing you, send an older man, an elder of a church to this track to get things started and then I will give it my all. I will go all out and not quit because I will know it’s you, In Jesus Name, Amen.” Within 6 months an older gentleman, an elder in his own church showed up and started a devotional before rider’s meeting. The Lord had answered my prayer to the T. An entire season passed by and the next year I started preaching and have been since. After a full season of preaching I started praying to the Lord to create a race series that brought the racers together and would allow me to follow this series and never miss a Doublin or Happy race. At that time if you were going to follow a district series like 6 or 7 you would miss a lot of local race at Happy or Doublin, it was that winter the M.D.R.A. was created. The Lord heard my prayer, knew my desire to preach the Word and He provided. Our future plans are to continue to preach the powerful Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Motocross community. Ministry wise we need to buy a 4-door dually diesel truck to help us get to the track each weekend, and then to stay and minister the Word as I have been called to do. We would like to see chaplain grounded at each track on the east coast. When that happen around here Anna and I may travel to try and establish chapel at other tracks.

Interviewed by Cory Texter, Photo by: Jim Bull Today, I sat down with Zak Klaptosky who is one of the areas fastest up and coming ‘B’ riders. Last year he moved to the big bikes and won the 250c points championship. This year he moved up to the ‘B’ ranks and was again leading the district points before a injury setback at Sleepy Hollow caused him to miss quite a few races. Here is what Mr. Klaptosky had to say. CT65: So I am sitting here talking with one of District 6’s top ‘B’ riders for 2008, Zak Klaptosky. Zak, how the heck are ya?
Name: Zak Klaptosky Age: 17 Racing #: 59 Class: Open B, 250 B, Collegeboy Race Machine: Kawasaki KX250F and Kawasaki KX450f First Machine: Honda CR85 First Race: Flying Dutchmen Hare Scramble Most memorable race: Sleepy Hollow race when I lapped all 28 riders in “C” class Other Hobbies: BMX, Shooting Stuff, Chillaxin, and snowboarding Favorite Drink: Water Favorite Food: Donuts from Wawa Favorite Music: Anything and everything except for Mike Cepress’s band
ZK59: Super. Thanks for asking. How about you? CT65: Oh just splendid. So the season for you guys is coming to a close. How would you say your season went for you this year? ZK59: This season was a little rougher than I was hoping for, but for my first year in ‘B’ it was decent. Just hope to turn it around for next year. CT65: Well, you went from winning in the ‘C’ class, to winning in the ‘B’ class all in one year, so it couldn’t of been too bad! How would you rate the overall competition here in District 6 as opposed to other places such as California and Texas?
ZK59: Haha yeah, there’s always room for improvement on my riding. But the competition in District 6 is pretty tough. We have many riders that are nationally ranked here or have been to Lorreta’s. I mean we have alot of up and coming talent, especially in the ‘B’ class. Riders like Garret Toth, Frankie Letterri, and Josh Emmi to name a few. CT65: You sound like a true racer Mr. Klaptosky. In terms of 2009, what are your plans? What part of your riding do you feel you have to work on most for next season? ZK59: For 2009 ill be riding for Kawasaki Team Green. Im moving up to the A class with the big boys. Im going to try qualifying for Lorreta’s in hope that I will make it. I will be also racing the District 6 Ultimate Series, and hopefully head out to Mini O’s. I will use next year as a stepping stone as I move up the ranks. My riding has come a long way from when I started 4 years ago. For next year I think im really slacking in my corner speed so I just might have to get some lessons from that Cory Texter kid who rides in circles, haha. He might be pretty good at it! All jokes aside, defintely just train on everything such as stamina, strength, and the mental side of it. Getting prepared mentally plays a huge role in my racing career.
CT65: Cory Texter, huh? Never heard of him. Well, sounds like you got your hands full for 2009 but your up to the challenge. Anyone you would like to thank before we head out of here and grab some hot chocolate? ZK59: Yeah for sure, I would like to thank Montgomeryville Cycle Center, Bill Hauser, Dave Eckhart, and Ed Frederick. They all helpd me out so much and I can’t thank you guys enough. I would also like to thank Renthal, Twin Air, Kawasaki Team Green, Elf Oils, FMF Racing, Osiris Shoes, Keith at MGX Unlimited and a special thanks to Mike Cepress, my team manger. I am always looking for more support (Wink, Wink). Oh yeah and that Cory Texter kid in advance because I hear is going to buy me some hot chocolate after this! CT65: Not too sure about that hot chocolate, but how about them Phillies? Tell me your a fan. ZK59: Not really a baseball fan. More a hockey person, haha. Then again, if it’s a Philly team then why not. I mean used to be the pitcher in T-Ball. CT65: Well, that ends the interview Zak. Stick to two wheels and away from a baseball bat. ZK59: Thanks CTex. Will do.

Winter Tips to Feed Your Motocross Crave by Kelsey Green
1. MotoramaDue to the frozen ground and harsh weather, most all racing events are forced indoors. February is well known for being the time of year for Motorama (21st and 22nd this year). This event includes; bike and quad arenacross, car show, go cart racing, quarter midgets, robot wars, Ms. Motorama pageant, remote control car racing, trail bikes, and large vendor areas. Come out to Harrisburg, PA Farm Show Arena to race or simply enjoy the show! 2. ArenacrossIf your up for attending another indoor race, I would highly suggest doing some arenacross racing. The first local arenacross race is January 9-11 in Baltimore, MD, and another race is in Wilkes-Barre, PA (March 13-15). If you are interested in attending any of these races, visit Arenacross.com.
4. Motorcycle Hall of Fame MuseumIf you’ve got the time to take a trip out to Pickerington, OH, the Motorcycle Hall of Fame is definitely a place to go! It’s a
5. Bike WorkSince you can’t ride as much as we all wish, now is the perfect time to tear your bike apart and get it all ready for 09! Some things you can do to prepare your bike is; have the suspension serviced, re grease the linkage, steering, swingarm, put in a new top end. As a safety precaution, run your gas out, if your not planning to ride throughout the winter. 6. TrainingNow the bike is race ready, the other half of the deal is your body! To ready the body, you should definitely hit the gym several times a week. Doing cardio and weight lifting will keep you in shape for the Spring. Think of it this way, it’s an easy way to stay ahead. What I mean by that is, if you prepare over the winter, when Spring comes around you will already be in good physical condition and can begin to work on your speed. 7. SupercrossIf fortunate enough, I recommend purchasing tickets to attend a supercross race, it’s well worth it! If not, plan to have all your racing buddies over and have a supercross party, tuning in to the races on your TV from home. 8. Video GamingAlthough I am not of a gamer myself, you can fulfill your racing needs virtually everyday! There’s so many moto related games now days; such as MX vs ATV (Unleashed, Untamed), Motocross Mania, Motocross Madness, and so many others! 9. Moto-MediaIf your like me, and don’t really like the video games, you can get your moto-fix threw media. There’s a wide variety of ways to go about this. Whether it’s good old fashioned reading, which is my personal choice (Autoiography of Jeremy McGrath, or Biographies of Stefan Everts and Travis Pastrana). Also, you can read magazines such as MRA, Transworld, RacerX, The Pickle, or Mini Rider. If you’re a technology wiz, get off myspace and facebook, and onto some sweet moto sites! For pictures I would always suggest Greensmxreview. com, or Roxstarimages.com! If your into the TV, watch the supercross races, or movies like Supercrossed, Thrillbillies, or the up and coming Travis Pastrana movie! 10. Take A trip Down South To RideDepending on the flexibility of your
schedule, if your able to, take a long weekend and go south to ride with all your buddies. Keep an eye on what is going on in North Carolina, because you may not have to go any further than that, if your lucky. By all means though, if you have to go further, and can DO IT!! Now that you’ve got a list of a few things you can do this winter, I hope everyone is busting out their agendas, and penciling in some plans! I know that I too have some of these on my list to accomplish this winter! Stay tuned, I may fill you in on some of my personal winter activities in the future! As always, if you do get out to ride, (which I hope everyone does) ride hard, and stay safe! Happy Holidays to all!

3. Build a ResumeI am a strong believer that every person who races regularly should have a well written resume. When sitting down to write yours, think of some accomplishments you have made this year, and some of the highlights of your season. Then go to your computer and create a resume. Updates should be made annually and include other things such as; a background profile of yourself, some of your best results, goals, racing classes, and pictures (maybe a school picture and a picture of yourself riding). Once you’ve gotten a quality resume put together, you should send them to some companies in hopes of getting sponsored. If you would like some tips, or help with any of this feel free to contact me, I’d be more than happy to help!

In the previous issue, I wrote an article entitled, “Reflection” (of the past racing season). I now would like to focus on the future. Here in the East it is getting cooler, and will soon be FREEZING COLD! I know from previous winter months that again, this year, I will be pondering over the same pestering question, that I must say is quite annoying. My dilemma is this; every winter it is too cold to go riding locally, so I am left sitting at home looking out the window at the frozen ground, occasionally snowcovered thinking, ‘what could I possibly do to keep my motocross-centered life that way over the winter?’ I have thought of a few activities that may help pass the winter months and allow us (you and I) to feel the ‘motocross lifestyle’ flowing in our veins.

Halloween Classic Hurd Motorsports Halloween Classic Results Austin Toomey (712), Garrett Madison (917), Brandon Sisson (304) and John Welch (641) lead the start of the first 250 C moto
Austin Toomey and Sonia Williams spooked their competition into submission in the 250 C and Women divisions, respectively, at the 10th Annual Halloween Classic at the Broome-Tioga Sports Center in Binghamton, New York. This annual event was the final race of the 2008 season for the Broome-Tioga facility and features a Halloween Party on Saturday night complete with a best costume contest for the kids and trick-or-treating throughout the facilities full pit area. Toomey, Garrett Madison, Brandon Sisson, and John Welch led the 26-strong pack out of the first turn in the opening 250 C moto. By the end of the first lap, Toomey had a four second lead. Madison held second and Joseph Cancellieri, Devin Luu and Welch rounded out the top five. The top five were starting
to spread out at the start of lap two. Madison held Toomey’s advantage to four seconds after they cleared the technical front rhythm section but by the start of the following lap, Toomey’s lead increased to five-seconds. Madison mounted a charge and chipped away at Toomey’s lead but ran out of time. Toomey took the checkers three seconds ahead of Madison. Cancellieri, Luu and Tyler Nash closed out the top five. Toomey, Madison, and Cancellieri led the pack out of the switch-back first turn in the final 250 C moto followed by Luu and Anthony Thomas. Toomey stepped up the pace and started lap two with a sixsecond lead. Madison, once again, was a solid second by the start of the lap. Cancellieri and Luu battled for third and David Ackley passed Thomas securing fifth. By the start of lap three,

Madison, Cancellieri, Devin Luu and Nick Luu completed the top five. Toomey (1-1) topped the podium. Madison took second with a consistent 2-2 and Cancellieri closed out the podium with a 3-3 tally. Williams, Amber Newton, and Anisha French led the start of the opening Women’s division moto. Williams continued to hold the point after exiting the tricky front rhythm section. French was now second, Casey Hubbell third, Caitlyn Lohiser fourth and Kayla Boorom fifth. Williams had a three second lead over French at the start of lap two. The top five looked set to remain unchanged by the start of lap three. French was closing the gap on Williams by lap three but then made a small mistake that allowed Williams to regain her three second advantage that remained unchanged to the checkered flag. French, Hubbell, Lohiser and Boorom followed. Williams, Hubbell, Newton, French and Kayla Brosious led the start of the final Women’s moto. Just before starting the second lap, French made the pass on Newton taking third. Newton came right back and
