many places you can buy the products you need, but rest assured the best place to buy is from the local companies that support what we do. Even if sometimes you have to pay a little more, their expertise and their local customer service offerings still make them the best option. Scheduling for the New Year is going on as we speak. 2012 sanctioning will take place the first weekend of December in most cases, and then shortly after that the tracks will release their schedules to the Internet. You can find most of those websites in our pages, and as always you can log onto our site for the latest information from our racing world. As far as I know, all of our relationships will stay the same for 2012, so we hope that you come back to spend the new season with us. We plan to spend more time focusing on the youth of the sport through better event coverage, more racer interviews and maybe a little video thrown in for good measure. Old guys, never fear, we’ll still be keeping an eye on all of you too. Again, thanks for reading, and we’ll see you in 2012.

Happy Holidays everybody. We hope that no matter what you celebrate this coming holiday season that you spend great time with family and that you celebrate responsibly. We here at MRA would like to thank you for riding out the season with us, and we all wish each and every one of you the happiest of holidays and a blessed New Year. As this issue comes off the press, most of the racing in our area will be over. Except for a few indoor events, we will need to look forward to 2012 to get our fixes, unless, of course, you don’t mind traveling. There are plenty of great riding and racing opportunities if you don’t mind traveling a few hours south. Both North Carolina and Florida offer us snow birds a break from the frozen tundra of the North. Also check out the ad in our pages for the Mid Atlantic Winter Series; they’ll keep you racing right through January and February. After that, we kick off with Motorama, and we’re right back at it. Also in this issue you’ll find many great gift options for the holidays. T h e advertisers in our pages have supported racing in our area for years. We know there are

Caleb Hare sweeps the 85 (9-11) C motocross division.
Maryland des States Budds Creek MX Park • Oct. 28-30, 2011 • Photos by: Lamarr Queen For years, the Maryland State Championship race has been held at the world famous Budds Creek Motorsports Park. For 2011, the MAMA organization got involved with Budds and came up with a new race format and branded the race the Maryland des States. The program consisted of a FREE Friday practice day along with two motos of motocross and two motos of supercross spread out over Saturday and Sunday. The event was also a Pro Am race. Par for the course in 2011, the weather certainly had a say in the weekend’s activities. A Nor’easter blew up the coast and cancelled many activities north of the Mason-Dixon Line, as some areas of Maryland and Pennsylvania got up to 8 inches of snow. I wasn’t at the Budds event, but from reports I heard it rained Friday into Saturday, then cleared off for Sunday’s event. That’s OK though, because this is motocross, and this was a state championship race, and the champions did come. You can check out the results from the weekend here and online at www.mamamx. com or www.buddscreek.com.
Cameron Dowell wins the Supermini divisions in both the SX and MX portion of the program.

Robinson Just Wins Texter Memorial Using a final lap pass on a slick track, Brandon Robinson got by Ryan Wells to claim the Lancaster H-D/Schaeffer’s H-D/Moroney’s H-D/Action MotorSports/Don’s Kawasaki/Saddleman/Darryl Baer/ Appalachian H-D/M & S H-D/Millers Cycle-sponsored Second Annual Randy Texter Memorial Race at Path Valley Speedway. The race is named for the late owner of Lancaster H-D and father of current racers Cory and Shayna Texter, who passed away last August of lung and heart complications. Most of the finals were delayed for a quad rider who suffered a heart attack at the end of their final and had to be medevaced to the hospital. Luckily, the dew had not settled onto the track by the time racing resumed close to midnight on a very chilly evening, but the remaining finals were shortened from eight to six laps, and the two Texter Memorials were cut from 20 to 15 laps. Cory Texter grabbed the lead at the start from Ryan Wells, Robinson, Shayna Texter and Austin Greenland. Wells, who was impressive in his first start at a track that can be difficult for first-timers, got by Texter off two on the second lap. While Texter was battling Robinson for second, Wells put several lengths on them. Robinson finally put his Action MotorSports/Ruckus 44/Phillips Florist sponsored Honda into second on the sixth lap and started to close the gap. Shayna got past Results 40 + 1. Ken Mohler (Rot); 2. her brother on the ninth lap for third. Over the last few laps, Robinson tried to get by on the outside, running side by side in the turns for a couple of laps. After just coming up short a few times, Robinson changed tactics off two on the final lap and dove under Wells into three, forcing Wells slightly off his line as Robinson shot into the lead. The Amateur riders also had a 15-lap Memorial Race, although it wasn’t as close. Colton Smith put his Don’s Kawasaki/Triple J Stables Racing sponsored Kawasaki in front of Matt Trout, Caleb Parshall, and Dalton Gauthier. Parshall was in second off two on the next lap, and after a few more laps, the front was a series of two rider groups battling for position. In the closing laps, the front duo came upon a pack of lappers. Smith managed to knife his way through, while Parshall was slightly hindered, increasing Smith’s margin. The Open A final gave a preview of the Memorial Race as Wells again took the lead this time from Shayna, Cory, Robinson and Chris Klinefelter. Robinson again got by Cory, this time on the fourth lap for third, and did cut into Shayna’s margin, but not enough to make any passing attempt. The 450 Sportsman added a couple of new names to the roster. Cory took the lead from Shawn Baer, Shayna, Robinson, Austin Greenland and Evan Baer. Shawn took the lead off four

on the second lap, while Shayna, then Robinson slipped by Cory on the following laps. On the final lap, Robinson took second off two. Colton Smith decided to sit out the 250 B class that he has literally owned this year, setting the stage for some others to get some glory. Dalton Gauthier stepped to the front over Ryan Varnes, Matt Trout, Colin Cunningham and Dylan Winsett. Cunningham took third on the second lap, retook it the next lap only to drop back a few laps later. After starting on the penalty line, Ken Kolsovsky got by his cousin, Winsett, for fourth off turn two on the last lap. Smith did enter the 250 Sportsman and led Gauthier, Tyler Phillips, Cunningham, Miller and Varnes and started to pull away. By the third lap, crafty veteran Miller had taken third, bringing his nephew, Varnes, with him as they staged a close late lap battle for third with Cunningham Smith had checked out in the Open B final, leaving Trout, Jason Cunningham, Kevin Bills and Parshall to battle for second. By the fifth lap, Bills had taken control of second. Rich Mellinger led Ken Mohler, Darren Phillips Sr., Dave Smith and Dallas Baer as the 40+ final came off the second turn. Smith was in third by the end of the opening lap, while Mohler took the lead off four on the third lap. The following lap, Baer took fourth spot.

MDRA 6 and Quad Series Awards Banquet November 5, 2011 • Shippensburg, PA • By: Jim Bull Photo.com 2011 brought us our first ever MDRA 6 Series and MDRA Quad Series awards ceremonies. Around 300 attendees gathered in Shippensburg, PA, to celebrate their champions in the inaugural year for both series. It would be a night of good food, big trophies and celebration for all of the top finishers in each of the respective series. The founders of the MDRA thanked the riders for making the first year a success and promised us good racing opportunities again for 2012. They announced that the Quad Series may see an expanded schedule at different locations, including Happy Ramblers in Hanover, PA, and they said there will be three bike events that will combine with the MDRA 7 Series to up the competition at those races in the coming year. We ate, we celebrated, we won some door prizes, then we went home. You can catch the top five finishers here from each class, and you can log onto the MDRA website to see a complete list of finishers along with details for next year’s series. Check them out at www.mdramxracing.com, and be sure to check out pictures of all the champs at www.mcracingaction.com.

MDRA 7 Banquet
November 12, 2011 • Shippensburg, PA • By: Jim Bull Photo.com The second weekend in November took us back to Shippensburg for round # 2 of the year-end celebrations for the MDRA. This series, in its fifth or sixth year now, continues to thrive. Even in our down economy, the racers seem to be coming out to enjoy the series. This year saw a venue change but still provided the same great buffet meal that we’ve become accustomed to with this series. The numbers were down a little this year; however, we have to take into consideration the formation of the MDRA 6 Series. Some original members have moved over to that group to fit better within their geographical boundaries. No worries, the house was full, as usual, and the event went off without a hitch. Same as the week before, we ate, we celebrated, we won a few door prizes, then we headed home. Check out the champions here, then log onto www.mcracingaction.com to view all the pictures. You can get the complete finishes for 2011 and updates and info on the 2012 series over at www.mdramxracing.com. We’ll see you next year.

Doublin Gap – Rider Appreciation Day
Zak Riden races to the Open A win.
Shippensburg, PA • Nov. 12-13, 2011 • By: Jim Bull Photo.com As many of our last events of 2011, this rider appreciation day was a reschedule from late October. It’s been a very wet year here in our area, and I would bet we had more cancellations and reschedules this season than we’ve had in a long time. Anyhow, rider appreciation means you buy two classes and get a third class free, a great way to wrap up the racing for the
year. I know that many will be attending Mini O’s and also heading South for the winter to ride. There are others, of course, who are just about finished for the season. The weekend also offered double points towards the 2012 season, and prior to the riders’ meeting awards were presented
to 2011 track champions. What a year, can’t wait till next. Coming soon to www. doublingap.com will be tentative dates for next year and the complete program. See a few images here, then log onto MRA to see the rest.
Cole Mizak is your School Boy 2 winner.
Matt Losch wins Vet C on the day to get a jump on next season’s points championship.
Jayden Shindel soars to the win in 65 (7-11) C.
Brandon McManus comes out and takes the 250 B win.
Clint Early had a great battle to win Vet B.
Randall Myers takes home the 50 Oil Injected win.

21 2 Corinthians 5:21 Corner
Romans 8:10-11
C h a p l a i n ’s
10: But if Christ lives in you, [then although] your [natural] body is dead by reason of sin and guilt, the spirit is alive because of [the] righteousness [that He imputes to you]. 11: And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you. Hey everyone in the MRA community, grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus. This is your Chaplain Zachary Camp. As many of you know, I moved to Colorado to go to Charis Bible College, founded by Andrew Wommack. My family and I are doing very well, and we miss you all very much. Each time I get an MRA magazine I am moved in my heart. After I moved to Colorado Springs, I received an MRA magazine, which made me cry because I poured so much love into ministering at the track, and I realized I would not be back for a long time. The above verse states that God imputes righteousness to you. This means that he gives it to you, He puts it on our account, so rather than having sin on your record, you have Jesus’ righteousness on your record. We are made or put in right standing with God. One time when I was racing in 1994 at Trail-Ways Speedway, two A riders broke out in a fist fight and were kicked out of the track indefinitely. But imagine if that track was sold into new ownership, and the two fighting A riders we forgiven and allowed to return. The new ownership would not keep the record of what they did wrong; it would be wiped away.
21: “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” You actually take on the same righteousness that Jesus has, and when God looks down at you he sees Jesus’ Goodness, not all your mistakes. Past, present, and future mistakes are already forgiven. God’s only condition for us is:
Romans 10: 9-10 9: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10: For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. If we want to go to heaven, have our sins taken away, and partake of all the blessings of the Lord Jesus; we must say it and believe in our hearts. So say to God that we believe that Jesus is the King or Lord and that he has been raised from the dead. Many of you are taking a break this month and the next from racing, so enjoy it and have fun with family over Thanksgiving and Christmas. Be blessed and rest in what Christ has done for us.

PA racer Michael McDade wins the Lites’ Main Event on Saturday night.
Tyler Bowers wins the Friday night Arenacross Main.
Baltimore Arenacross 2011 November 4-6, 2011 • By: Ashley Palmer The second round of the AMA Arenacross series took place Nov 4-6 at Baltimore’s First Mariner Arena. As always, the racing was action packed and exciting. Every year, local riders get a chance to show what they’ve got against the best AX riders in the country, and it’s not easy. The races are short, and the pace is fast and furious. One small mistake can set you back several positions, which are very difficult to regain. This year, local riders Michael McDade, Broc Schmelyun, Dylan Slusser, Tony Archer, and TJ Phillips gave it their all, with McDade winning the AX Lites class on Saturday and finishing a close second on Friday. McDade put on quite a show both nights, making a last lap pass on Saturday that got the crowd cheering. Archer qualified for the AX Lites class on Friday and finished 9th, which I’m sure would improve if he practiced AX, which he just may have a chance to do, as it looks like he has secured a ride for the rest of the series with Reed and Reese Racing. TJ Phillips was busy all weekend, making both mains on Friday and the AX Lites class on Saturday. His
best finish came on Friday with a 7th in the AX Lites class, a superb result. At the front of the pack, Tyler Bowers, the defending AX champ, came through the pack from 6th to 1st on Friday night to pad his current East Coast native Josh Demuth waves to the Baltimore crowd. points lead. And he did this than the normal Sunday race day. Lap without knocking anyone down! Saturday times are under a minute, and you only night saw him finish a close 2nd behind race for 6 laps, so the races are quick Jeff Gibson. Gibson led from lap 6, and and they knock out the motos quick. Bowers tried his hardest but could not Practice started at 8 a.m., and by 1:30 make a move. Seems like he could have p.m. the racing was over, and everyone taken Gibson out for the win, but, I guess was on their way home! Still, even with he was trying to be nice. limited track time, it’s a lot of fun, and it’s On Sunday, the promoters open the way cool riding inside a stadium. Check it track up for amateur day.
