Hello Race Fans!

Happy 4th of July everybody. What a holiday to celebrate. I ask that everyone takes a minute to really reflect on what Independence day really means to us. It’s much more than just cookouts, fireworks and great racing action. I recently had an opportunity to read a personal letter that was written to a family member from a soldier stationed in Iraq working in a medical hospital. It was too graphic to share here with some of our readers, but it really hits home and makes a person realize what other people have sacrificed for us so we can celebrate our Independence days. Please, if you see a service man or woman on the street, or if you know a family that has someone serving our country, go over and say thanks, it’s the least we can do. On to the racing, June has been hot, and not only the racing, I’m talking temps. My bet is that July is going to be even hotter. To kick off the Holiday in motocross action, Sleepy Hollow has an event on the 3rd and Doublin Gap is hosting their Annual Yamaha All-Star National, practice Friday with racing Saturday and Sunday. Also in July, the MDRA Race Series will be landing in PA. Racers, if you are looking for a true Motocross series, offering great competition and end of year payouts you have to check this one out. Check their

schedule elsewhere in MRA to find out how you can join the fastest growing Race Series in the area. On to Hare Scrambles, racers remember your PA State round on July 24th at Jack Frost has been re-scheduled to later in the season at the Flying Dutchmen, so don’t make the drive. Remember also to check out your event photos from Tom Simpson right here at www.mcracingaction.com. Now, here’s the really big news. Anybody want to go to the Nationals. To thank our current subscribers and MDRA members we are going to give away 4 weekend tickets for the MX National at Broome-Tioga on August 20-21. Here’s how you win, all current MRA Subscribers and MDRA members names will be thrown in a hat, if you aren’t a subscriber, you’re in luck. Get your paid subscription to MRA in the month of July and your in the drawing. We will pull two winners of two tickets each. It’s that easy, we appreciate your support and it’s just another way to say thanks. Sign up for MRA at our website or just clip the form in this paper. Good Luck !! Until next time.

HOLESHOT HOTSHOT Name: Brad Roth Event: Flying Dutchmen MC Age: 12 Hometown: Easton, PA District #: 22 R Ride: Suzuki RM 65 / RM 85 Class: 65cc (10-11) / 85cc (7-11) Experience: 8 years racing Hobbies: BMX and Skateboarding Fav. Food: Cheese Fries Fav. Racer: No one at this time. Sponsors: DR Motocross, Lebanon Valley Cycles, Mom & Dad, Pappy. Future goals: To keep winning. Brad Roth from Easton, PA is the Kenda Tires - MRA Holeshot Hotshot for the month of July. Brad has been racing a long time and MRA has been eyeing him up for this spot for quite a while. Brad got his start racing at the age of 4 on everybody’s favorite, the Yamaha PW 50. Brad is a regular at both the Flying Dutchmen and Sleepy Hollow tracks, we’ve been watching him win for over three years now. Brad had a slight setback a year or so ago where he came up short on a double and broke both of his ankles, it hasn’t seemed to phase him though. Brad has moved up through the ranks and he has been pulling Holeshots at most of his events. We caught up with Brad at the Flying Dutchmen in mid June and as usual he was pulling Holeshots and winning races. Brad pulled both holeshots and won the race on his 65, as a matter of fact Brad has won every race he’s entered on his 65cc machine this year at the Dutchmen and he’s gotten two 3rds and a 1st place finish on his 85. His dad told me the week before he pulled four holeshots, two on the 85 and two on the 65, Wow !! If that’s not a hotshot, I don’t know what is. Keep a close watch on young Brad Roth, my bet is that before long he’ll have that 85 in the winners circle every weekend. And watch out next month, who knows you just might be the next MRA Holeshot Hotshot. Jim Bull MRA

Derek Miller MDRA Race Series

Age: 13 Hometown: York, PA District #: 221 Ride: Suzuki RM 85 Class: Junior Mini / 85cc 12-15 C Experience: 2nd year racing Hobbies: Riding BMX Fav. Food: Taco’s Fav. Racer: Bubba Stewart Sponsors: Cernics Suzuki, Mom & Dad

Future goals: To keep getting faster. Derek Miller from York, PA is our second ever MDRA Hotshot. Derek has been competing in the MDRA Series this season and what a difference it has made. MRA was at the first race ever that this young man participated in and believe me when I say, It wasn’t very long ago and there sure has been a great improvement in Dereks riding. Derek’s first bike was a Suzuki JR 80, he rode it for about a month around the house and then his dad, a former racer himself bought Derek a used YZ 80 and they headed straight to the track. At the time, Derek was racing in another series where he had to compete against a certain age group, the MDRA did not exist at the time and there was no breakdown of classes as far as ability level goes. Derek did ok for a beginneer but he could not compete against some of the faster riders with many more years experience. I have to give Derek credit though, he went out and rode in every race and eventually he started to improve his finishes. What a difference a year makes, over the winter the MDRA was formed, Derek got a new ride and a new opportunity to race against his true peers. In the spring he showed up for Round # 1 at Blue Diamond and joined the 85cc 12-15 C division as well as the junior mini group. Derek finished 5th that day and got his first trophy ever, wow what a confidence booster. Since then it has been all Derek, he is still looking for that first victory but he has definitely started to find his groove. Derek pulled 3 out of 4 holeshots at Mountaineer and ended up with a third and a fifth place finish. He has been consistent at all rounds and I’m sure his name will be right at the top of the class when the series comes to a close. Keep an eye on this young man from PA, I believe he has a bright future with the MDRA and watch out next month. Who know’s, you just might be the next MDRA Hotshot. Jim Bull MRA

outdoor mx national action

Mt. Morris - May 29, 2005 • Southwick - June 12, 2005 • Photos by Allen Gavlack With 4 of 12 rounds completed the MX Nationals have been just as exciting this year as ever. In the 250 division R.C. is no longer perfect but he certainly has a good handle on the points lead. Many thought that James Stewart would probably be the man to end Ricky’s winning streak. Not so, it would be the Australian Chad Reed who was able to take advantage of a Carmichael mistake to get a moto win. And that was it, one moto. Ricky bounced back and has been taking it to the field ever since. In 125 racing action, long time 125 pilot Mike Brown is the man that has emerged as the point’s leader. There is so much talent in the 125 class this season that just about anyone could come out on top. Why is it that these veteran riders continue to race the 125 class? Wouldn’t it be great to see some

Doug Henry always makes the trip to Southwick.

Chris Gavlak at Southwick.

of them move to the 250 division to try and spice things up a bit there? Speaking of the 125 division, there is a new rider on the scene. The # 338 of Jason Lawrence from Estell Manor, NJ made his Pro debut at Southwick. The D6 rider did very well for himself and made his presence known. Lawrence won his qualifying heat at Southwick and finished 7th in the first moto. A second moto DNF due to broken pipe allowed Lawrence a 14th overall finish. Lawrence came out strong at Budds running lap times right up there with the leaders. In the 1st moto he finished 6th, a bent shift level in moto 2 let Jay finish with a 15th overall. Keep an eye on this local fast guy, I bet he has a podium before the end of the season.

The hype—Mike Allessi—is it real?

J.L. finished 7th in his 1st National Moto ever. Unfortunately a broken pipe in the 2nd moto cause a DNF. 250cc racing action!

Doug Henry was involved in this pile-up.

Windham pulled a third at Hi-Point and a fourth at Southwick.

“Keep an eye on this local fast guy (Lawrence), I bet he has a podium before the end of the season.” R.C.—not perfect, but still on top and still the man to beat.

Sterritt, Schneider Heat Up Hurricane Hills

23rd Annual Santich Cycles Grand Prix of Motocross • 2005 Ultimate Motocross Championship Series Clifford, PA, June 12, 2005 The brand new motocross series of the northeast, sponsored by MSR, Pro Taper, RRP and Answer Racing, the Ultimate Motocross series, was combined with the annual rider favorite Santich Cycles Grand Prix of Motocross for one of the best

Bellott passed Hess to claim fourth, relegating Hess to fifth. Sterritt managed to pull a three and a half second advantage on Wallace by the start of lap three. Bellott was on the move and picked off Martin to take third. Martin was relegated to fourth. Hess was now alone in fifth. Two turns before

Franklin Schneider (221) and Steve Sheckler bang bars in the first turn in the first over 30 B moto at Hurricane Hills in Clifford, Pennsylvania on June 12th. races of the 2005 season at the Hurricane Hills Sports Center. The Ultimate series continues to grow and offers some of the best competition and contingencies of any series on the east cost. The 23rd annual running of the Santitch Cycles Grand Prix of Motocross features 30-minute moto’s in the Pro/Expert, Amateur and Novice classes and a 20-minute moto for a combined Mini class at the end of the regular race day program. Those riders who elected to run the GP’s had their work cut out for them as Mother Nature provided one extremely hot and humid day. The GP riders can safely claim “iron man” honors for the day. Over 300 riders came out to the beautiful Hurricane Hills Sports Center. Turnout was quite good considering that the AMA Motocross Championships were also in the northeast at the famous Motocross 388, in Southwick, Massachusetts. Dave Sterritt took the top tier of the box in the extremely fast Collegeboy class with a perfect 1-1. Sterritt, aboard a Honda Thumper that got him the holeshot and the point position quickly in both moto’s, went wire to wire for the two wins with virtually no challenge from the rest of the 15 rider field. Chad Bellott’s consistent 2-2 rides earned him runner-up and Eric Martin closed out the podium with a couple of consistent 3-3 rides. Sterritt led the start of the first Collegeboy moto with Sean Wallace, Martin, Jason Hess and Bellott in tow. When the leaders exited the new downhill triple, which replaced the downhill rhythm section, the top three were unchanged.

the completion of lap two; Jared Kimble made the pass on Hess taking fifth. Sterritt increased his lead to five seconds by the start of lap three. Bellott was closing the gap on Wallace and the top five remained unchanged until the end of lap four when Wallace lost his front tire in the turn before the finish line handing Bellott second and Martin third. Sterritt took the checkers with a nine second advantage. Bellott, Martin, Kimble and Michael Tyrrell rounded out the top five. Sterritt again took the holeshot and the early lead in the final Collegeboy outing with Hess, Martin, Bellott and Kimble in close pursuit. Sterritt was riding smooth and quickly pulled out to a four second lead by the start of the second lap. Bellott was charging and moved from a fourth place start to second by the start of lap two. Martin was holding his own in third when Kimble moved into fourth. Russ Kollmer rounded out the top five. The top five were all spread out by the start of the third lap. The only battle brewing was for fifth as Hess closed the gap on Kollmer and got a pass to stick on the white flag lap. Sterritt crossed the finish line with another nine-second advantage. Bellott, Martin, Kimble were second through fourth which was a virtual repeat of the first moto. Hess rounded out the top five. Franklin Schneider led the start of the opening over 30 B class moto but was quickly relegated to second in the second turn by Steve Sheckler. Louis Giomboni, Robert Muscovitch and Rufus Coward rounded out the top five on the start. When the leaders cleared the new downhill triple, the top three

were unchanged when Bill Zonca moved into fourth, relegating Muscovitch to fifth.

The Ultimate series continues to grow and offers some of the best competition and contingencies of any series on the east cost. Sheckler had a three second gap on Schneider at the start of lap two. Samuel Aspinwall managed to climb through the ranks to take third, dropping Giomboni and Zonca to fourth and fifth. Scheckler increased his lead to five seconds by lap three. Aspinwall disappeared from the top five, allowing Zonca to inherit third, Muscovitch fourth and Don Hawkins fifth. Sheckler increased his lead to six seconds by the start of lap four and it remained that way for the next two laps. Sheckler took the win followed by Schneider, Zonca, Giomboni and Aspinwall. In the final outing of the over 30 B class, Schneider once again claimed the holeshot but this time out did not relinquish the

Zonca was alone in fifth. Sheckler, winner of the first moto, had some bad luck earlier in the moto but was now charging through the pack and managed to claim third with two laps to go. Schneider took the win gapping second place finisher Giomboni by six seconds. Sheckler, Aspinwall and Cerminaro rounded out the top five. Schneider topped the over 30 B podium with a 2-1 to Sheckler’s 1-3. Giomboni closed out the podium with a 4-2 tally.

Dave Sterritt (20), Jason Hess (98) and Chad Bellott (158) lead the start of the 1st Collegeboy moto at Hurricane Hills on June 12th in Clifford, Pennsylvania.

Tech Tips

Today’s 4 stroke motocross bikes are the wave of the future, as we all know by now. One sure evidence of that is the rumor currently afloat that Kawasaki will no longer offer a two-stroke 125 in their 2006 lineup. One of the flaws in the current four-stroke technology is the occassional and unavoidable backfire. Sometimes so severe that carburetors have been known to be blown right off the intake boot. One quick fix is a simple zip tie placed around the motor mount and carb, thus securing the carb to the intake. It only takes a minute to do, costs very little, and could save you a moto win! T

Miles mountain motocross May 29-30, 2005 • Photos by Michael Gurnsey

Miles Mountain MX is one of the newest tracks in D6. They are located in Elkland, PA just a few miles from the NY border. Although to some it may seem far, Miles Mountain is well worth the ride. At their facility they feature a close to one mile long MX track that has recently been covered in some of the nicest top soil around. The track is built on a hillside with plenty of natural terrain to enjoy. They have just added a Pee Wee track for the 50cc racers to use thru out the day and their latest edition is a full blown supercross track complete with lights for great night time racing action. Miles Mountain offers practice days as well as sanctioned AMA racing. They are running a lot of weekend events where you can go practice Saturday, race under the lights Saturday night and stay Sunday for daytime motocross racing. Talk about getting your moneys worth. Stay tuned to MRA for a complete schedule of events or log onto their web site at www.milesmountainmx.com.

RD#5 MDRA Race Series • June 4-5, 2005 • by Kevin Sheckells Well I guess by now everyone knows a little about Tomahawk MX in Hedgesville, WV. After their first round turnout of nearly 600 riders in the new MDRA Series, the second round was close with 523 riders. Many of our riders were at Steel City qualifying for Loretta Lynn’s. Saturday practice had an excellent turnout and Chad Gouchnauer hit the “perfect recipe” for track conditions. A rainy Friday set the track up perfectly, and watering was not needed. Sunday’s racing was impressive as many of our riders continued their winning ways. Expert riders Willy Toth and Kevin Brodsky put on a great show. The 65cc 7-11 C class was hot and the Vet C gates were loaded and as always you get to see some exciting racing action when you run two 125 C Divisions.

One of the best things going on with the MDRA is the camper turnout. With Saturday practice and Sunday racing we can enjoy an opportunity to engage in some grilling with friends. Watch out for the Blettner, Coluzzi, Thomas pit area. There is one mean cook out challenge going on there. Saturday night, they served up ribs, BBQ pork chops, cream of crab, and Maryland crab, courtesy of Wendy Sheckells (thanks). All kinds of salads and real cookie ice cream sandwiches were on the menu. Can’t wait for Mountaineer!! Thanks to all the new MDRA riders who have been supporting the series. I have listened to many good remarks and thanks to the MDRA for giving their youth riders a chance to score some nice trophies with the new class structure.

A fans guide to unadilla

How to Get There, What to Bring — Then What? • by Jim Bull Have you ever gone to the track and realized that you forgot the sunscreen? I know, you only remember the sunscreen after you get home from the event. It’s usually that night when you step into the shower to wash the track off of you and you get that stinging sensation across the back of your neck. We thought we would try something new this issue to try and help make your big weekend at the National a little more enjoyable. We’ve compiled some information on how when and where, what to take, what not to take and who to root for (oh, that’s up to you). We hope you find it useful. The only thing you really need to do now is to make sure you remember to read your copy of MRA the day before you leave.

The Lucas Oil 125/250 Pro National will be held at Unadilla, the Home of Horsepower on July 16-17 2005. Unadilla is in its 36th year of promoting motorsports events and your trip to their facility is sure to please. They are located on NY Route 8 five miles north of the town of New Berlin. If you go to the Village of Unadilla you went to far, turn around and head south. Traffic usually flows pretty smooth until you get close to the event, leave some extra time, remember the Nationals usually attract over 20, 000 fans so it can take a few minutes. The best way to get to Unadilla from most parts of District 6 is to access route 81 north into Binghamton, New York. At that point 81 runs into route 88 which you follow to the Sidney exit. From there it’s a short jaunt up Route 8 to the track.

If you plan on leaving early to arrive for the Saturday program please remember that Unadilla does not allow camping for spectators. They welcome your arrival for the Saturday practices and qualifying, there is even a Fan Fest on Saturday after the Pro Program with the KTM Team and there is also a limited 3 hour Pit Pass available for $10.00. There is camping available close by and lots of Hotels and Motels in the Binghamton area for

• No Knobbies • No Pit Riding

NO EXCEPTIONS

Who’ll lead the 125 Class at Unadilla? under $ 70.00 a night. You can access that information at www.unadillamx.com and make sure to mention the Hotel codes listed on their website to get the “special deals”. If your planning on arriving for the Sunday Program only, the folks at Unadilla recommend you get there early due to the large crowds, gates open at 6:00am. The pits are open from 9:00 to 12:00 with passes going on sale at 7:30. The first 125 Pro Moto leaves the gate at 1:00pm sharp. Some things you can’t do at Unadilla. Remember no camping and no pets are allowed at Unadilla. I know fido is part of the family, but leave him at home. The rule is strictly enforced and it’s usually too hot for them anyhow. There is no scaffolding or easy ups allowed in the spectator areas, leave them at home but be sure to bring your lawn chairs. No alcohol, no fireworks and no open fires. A complete list of do’s and don’ts is listed on their website. Please respect the rules, it will make a better weekend for everybody. Besides, there will be enough excitement on the track to keep all happy. Some amenities at Unadilla include a flat handicapped viewing area at the top of the gravity cavity (remember, Unadilla is mostly hills). There is a baby changing station that both mom and dad can access below the big white barn. You can tune into FM 90.5 to hear all of the action during the race and Unadilla offers some of the best eats around. Tickets can be bought at the gate, there is never a sellout. If you would like to save time though as you arrive, you can order tickets in advance with your credit card by calling (607) 965-8784, tell them MRA sent you. You can also order by mail at: UVSC PO Box 5119 Edmeston, NY 13335. Another thing to keep in mind if purchasing at the gate, no personal checks will be accepted. A two day ticket for adults is $ 35.00 and a Sunday only ticket is $ 25.00. And last but not least you need to pack for your trip. Be sure to take your lawn chairs and blankets. Take clothing for all weather conditions, it could be 90 degrees or then again it may rain, a couple of $ 2.00 ponchos from K-Mart could make or break your weekend. Don’t forget the sunscreen, take plenty of water and snacks, it’s a long day and the hills are big. How about a sharpie and your favorite MRA T-shirt to get the Pro’s autographs? Wear comfortable shoes with good traction and a small set of binoculars will let you zoom in on all of the action. Well, that’s about it, remember there is a ton of information on the Unadilla website found above. Watch out for all of our local riders while your there. Names like Plotts, Carsten, Cook and Clark and don’t forget the new guy, whats his name? Oh yeah, the # 338 of Jason Lawrence. Enjoy the day. Jim Bull MRA I

Pagoda Short Track June 4, 2005 • Story & Photos by Jim Bull

Pagoda MC Club hosted their first short track race of the season in early June the night before an Ultimate MX Series round at their facility. Some club members thought that they had temporarily lost their mind for trying to pull off such a feat. But hard work and determination by club members left racers on both Saturday night and Sunday with nothing but smiles. Especially after singing a few hits with Karaoke Steve Saturday night in the Pagoda club house. As track announcer Lenny Fleischman would say “the racing was all good” Saturday night as local racers hit the short flat oval at Pagoda. In youth racing action, young Ryan Varnes is following in his family’s foot steps as he took home the win in the 50cc division for Millers Cycle Works on the new Conti RX50. In 80cc action Derek Hersh and Cassidy Heiser put on a show for the crowd. In their heat race the two battled thru out the race when coming off of turn 4, Heiser got by Hersh to take the white flag and race to the heat win. In the main it would be different, again the two battled thru out the race. it looked like Heiser was going to make his move going into turn two but Hersh was able to hold on for the win. In Senior racing action, long time local veteran Joe Bromley was out warming up for the Springfield Nationals. Joe got the heat win right at the checkers and in the main he led from start too finish. In ATV racing action, Bill Sipp took home a pair of wins and in youth quad action another Joe Bromley took the podium spot. Joseph Bromley put his number 5 quad out in front early in both the heat and the main to take home the win. Pagodas next short track race is another double weekend, only this time both events will be short track. Saturday night under the lights and Sunday afternoon September 17-18, 2005.

Derek Hersh (8) and Cassidy Heiser (67a) battle in 85cc 7-11 action. Heiser gets the heat but Hersh wins the main.

Young Ryan Varnes races his MCW Conti to a first place finish. Ryan Connelly grabs his first Short Track win at the Pagoda MC Club. Ryan wanted to thank his sponsors: The Spa & Pool Place, Lancaster HD and his personal trainer, Shayna Texter.

Chris McCarty (23) wins 250 B.

Cory Texter takes his Lancaster HD Buell to the 500 2 valve win.

Please visit our advertisers. William Sipp takes the 4 wheel Sportsman win in his first Short Track race.

Ken Yoder, Jr. (57a) grabs the 30+ win with Joe Bromley (5b) taking the checkers in 40 +

Conti RX50 hold numerous titles in Europe and now they’re ready to do it in the USA.

Pagoda motorcycle club RD#5 Ultimate MX Series • June 5, 2005 • By Jim Bull

The Pagoda MC Club hosted Round # 5 of the Ultimate MX Championship Series on the back half of a two day race weekend in early June. Pagoda had run a short track race the night before this event, club members from Pagoda worked into the wee hours of the morning to convert their facility back to the top notch MX course that we’ve all come to know and love. Sunday morning brought bright sunshine and some top notch racers to the event. Names like Barry Carsten, Damien Plotts, Jeremy Cook and Casey Clark where popping up on the sign up sheets and all in attendance knew the expert racing action was going to be hot. In the end it was all Damien Plotts riding out of the RRP camp. Carsten put up a good fight but Plotts was able to hold him off in both the 125 and 250 classes. In amateur racing action, Addison Kramer stole the show winning both the School Boy

and 125 C divisions and in mini racing action on the big track. MCW/LVC sponsored Wyatt Barto cleaned up the competition on his Conti RX50. Barto got out in front in the first moto and about half way thru he popped a chain. Barto’s mechanic was trackside, he was able to re-mount the chain and Wyatt caught back up and took the win. The club members at Pagoda did a great job preparing for the event. Track announcer and Ultimate MX Rep. Lenny Fleischman was on hand calling the action for the crowd and MRA was there getting the shots. To check out event photos go to www.mcracingaction. com and for complete race results check out Pagoda’s new online results reporting tool at www.pagodamotorcycleclub.com. You can access current results along with past finishes, rider info and all kinds of neat stuff. Check it out today.

Michael Journet soars to the Senior B win.

Damian Plotts (108) and Barry Carsten (109) battled all day with Plotts coming out on top in both 125 and 250 A.

“Pagoda worked into the wee hours of the morning to convert their facility back to the top notch MX course…”

Wyatt Barto takes the Conti RX50 to the win. Wyatt would like to thank, MCW, Lebanon Valley Cycles, Amsoil, Pizza Town and 505 Race Team.

Motographx racer, Avery Brown wins the 65cc 10-11 division.

Foot of mountain harescramble June 5, 2005 • Photos by T.S. Photos

June 5, 2005 brought a District 7 Points Race to Foot of the Mountain. As is the norm, racers from both D6 and D7 attended to do battle on the knarly Ft.of Mountain course. If you are looking for a true Hare Scramble course offering a great mix of woods, rocks, grass and virgin single track, the Foot is it. Just days before the race, crews were out laying in the new course and for once Mother Nature didn’t unload bucket fulls of rain prior to the event. Racer turn out was good and all went smooth. The Ft. of Mountains next event is Labor Day weekend and there are a few changes to their schedule that you should know about. First off there are new start times for the Pee Wee racers and Youth 4 wheelers. Your

race will start at 9:00am with the rest of the youth going off at 10:00am as usual. All other start times remain the same, if you have any questions please contact the staff at (814) 259-9992. Secondly the Chicken BBQ scheduled for Sunday September 4th has been moved back to Saturday evening September 3rd at 5:00pm. Come on out to the Foot and have a BBQ and camp for free. Sunday’s race is Round # 8 of the PA State HS Series and should be a good one. Make sure you show up to chase those valuable state points and to see what the crew at the Foot has in store for us this time.

“As is the norm, racers from both D6 and D7 attended to do battle on the knarly Ft.of Mountain course.”

Canyon Motorsports Bryan Moffitt grabs the holeshot in 0-200 B racing action.

Jenna Katrina finishes fourth at the Foot.

The quad racing action is always hot at the Foot.

Borich wins - again !! Mike Ego and Keith Rodgers battle in the first turn. Rodgers would win Senior A. Brothers Collin and Kevin Kearney battle for the lead in 50cc racing action - twin power.

Flying dutchmen motorcycle club June 19, 2005 • Story & Photos by Jim Bull

Piazza duked it out with Piazza grabbing the second moto win for the overall. Eric Heilman and John Sheaffer went at it in the 50cc 7-8 stock class with Heilman getting the win and in PW80/TTR 90 racing action, Brandon Belsak and Michael Seltzer swapped moto wins with Belsak coming out on top in the end. The Dutchmen has two races coming up in July, check out their race on July 10th where they will be offering double track points and on the 24th they are giving away those cool MC and ATV sculptures again. Miles Mountain

WNYOA Harescramble • June 12, 2005 • By Jim Bull Miles Mountain welcomed the Western New York Off-road Association to their one and only Hare Scramble of the season. Just fewer than 400 racers came out to the mountain to battle the blazing heat. Temps were in the 90’s with high humidity, but the racers came, and they kept coming. All day Saturday and all day Sunday they came to take on the rugged Miles Mountain course. The seven mile course consisted of up and down hills, open grass track, tight woods riding and of course a view from the top for miles around. The pee wee racers had their own course and the youth riders ended up with a shortened version of the main event. I heard many racers say on this day how much they loved the Mountain. You can check out complete event photos at www. mcracingaction.com and to keep up to date with what’s happening at Miles Mountain go to www.milesmountainmx.com. Better yet, head on out to the track and have your own mountain experience.

Zachary Nevidomsky wins Sr. Mini A as well as the overall youth race.

Pee Wee racer gets some last minute instructions from dad.

To check out their million dollar views, Miles Mountain offered hourly hay rides. You can see for “Miles” from up on the hill.

Jacob Kneebone (355) competes in his 1st race at Miles Mountain. Jacob finished 7th out of 10. AA racer, Scottie Rich wins the overall at Miles Mountain.
