Hello Race Fans!

Happy Turkey Day everyone. And I shouldn’t poke fun at it like that. Thanksgiving is one of the most important holidays that we can celebrate each year and it deserves the utmost respect. Please take a moment this November 24th to be thankful for the many blessings in your life. Remember, no matter what your station in life, it could always be worse. Well, here we are. There is still another issue of MRA left this season, but the local racing is about to come to a close. Some of you may be looking forward to that. My guess is though that many are not. It’s been a fantastic year, we’ve attended over 50 events again this season and I wish it would never end (my wife calls me a junkie). She’s probably right, my story is that I could be hooked on a whole lot worse things. We’ve covered a few new Series this year and made many new friends. We’ve had new race contributors and new advertisers and I believe that MRA continues to get better. We are coming into the off season and we are always looking for ways to improve. We always welcome your comments and suggestions as long as it’s for the betterment of the sport. Please feel free to contact us anytime. I’d like to thank all of the promoters and racers that make MRA possible. You are all

great people and I love spending my time with you. We’ll wrap up the local racing in the next issue along with a bunch of year end banquet stuff. After that we’ll take the month of January off to catch a breath and then we’ll storm right back into it with our Pre - Motorama issue. For those of you that don’t want to throw in the towel just yet, check out the ad in this months issue for the Mid Atlantic Winter Series. They offer some great incentives to head south for the winter and race. Besides,I just gassed up today and the prices at the pumps are coming down. Please don’t forget to support our advertisers. The gift giving season is coming and there are many great options to find that perfect gift in the pages of MRA. The new season will be here before you know it. Pay attention this off season to some changes that could be coming in the wind. I know the race promoters are fighting for your rights, they want to offer you more options and better racing environments. Stay tuned to MRA for all of the important stuff and we’ll see you at the races. Until next time.

TIRES HARESCRAMBLE HOTSHOT Name: Event:

Colton Smith PA State Harescramble Series

Age: 9 Hometown: Street, MD District #: 41 Ride: KTM 50 Oil Class: 50 Oil Injected Experience: 4 years racing Hobbies: Wrestling, Baseball, Golf. Fav. Food: Lasagna Fav. Racer: Chris Carr Sponsors: Granny, Grampy, Mom, Dad, Newport Cycles. Future goals: I want to be a singer. Colton Smith from Street, MD is our latest Hare Scramble Hotshot. This summer I was kicking around the message boards and I put a post out looking for recomendations for Hotshots. Someone sent me an e-mail voting for a young racer named Colton Smith. They said he was leading the PA Series points and that he would be a good choice. I said to myself, wait a minute. Thats the kid that I saw at the Timonium Flat Track races kicking butt the last couple weeks. So I started to dig around and I found out that young Mister Smith has many racing talents. Colton has been riding for several years now and he has been racing both Flat track and Hare Scrambles this year. Colton has wrapped up the District 7 50cc 7-8 division on his Cobra securing the Flat Track Championship there. He has also wrapped up the PA State Hare Scramble Series taking a first in the 50cc Oil Injected division and he currently sets in a strong second place behind Mason Evitts in the D6 Hare Scramble Series. Sounds like a Hot Shot to me. Colton has a choice to make though coming up in the months ahead. He also has a younger brother Chase who’s a pretty fast racer himself. It makes it tough to do everything, so Colton will be bumping up to the 65cc bike for 2006 and he needs to decide, Flat track or Hare Scrambles. I’m sure which ever he choses he ‘ll be a force to be reckoned with. I wish the whole Smith Racing Team the best in their future endeavors, watch out for those Smith boys or they’ll pass you by. And watch out next month, you just may be the next MRA/Kenda Hare Scramble Hotshot. Jim Bull MRA

Name: Greg Sidebothom Event:

MDRA Race Series

Age: 9 Hometown: Newark, DE District #: 95 Ride: Suzuki RM65 / RM85 Class: 60 (7-11) B and Experience: Hobbies:

85 (7-11) B

2nd year riding, 1st year racing Playstation, riding bicycle

Fav. Food: Pizza Fav. Racer: Ricky Carmichael Sponsors: Mom and Dad Future goals: To go to Loretta’s in 2007. Greg Sidebothom is the latest MDRA Hotshot. We’ve been watching Greg win all year and we’ve wanted to get him in an issue, but you know how it goes. So many great racers and so little space. I apologize for that because there are so many racers out there that deserve this column, maybe we need to do a Special Edition Hot Shot issue. Anyhow, back to Greg. Greg started riding just last year in his back yard on a Honda XR70. Both he and his family quickly realized that Greg had a knack for the sport so they picked him up a RM65. Greg spent last year practicing because he knew he wanted to race. Unfortunately while at Jack Frost Greg attempted a 50’ triple and came up short. He broke both the bones in his left wrist right in half. Fast forward to early 2005, Greg’s wrist is healed and he’s signing up for the MDRA. Over the winter his family has also picked him up a RM85 so he can attack two classes. And thats exactly what he did. Greg ran in all 12 rounds of the MDRA Series and he finished on top in two divisions, not bad for a first year racer. Greg took home the # 1 plate in the 65cc (7-11) B and 85 (7-11) B groups. Watch out for Greg in the future. Next year he will be bumping up to the A class while competing in the MDRA. He also plans to race some D6 events and to try some Loretta Lynn qualifiers to see how he fares against the other hotshot mini riders out there. That is Gregs eventuall goal, to qualify and attend the Amateur Nationals in 2007. From what we’ve seen, he has the talent and determination to go all the way. We wish him and his family the best in all that they do. And now to everybody else. It’s been a great season with the MDRA, we have one more issue left this season but we’re out of races. Who knows, keep your eye’s peeled, we still may be able to find one more Hotshot out there. Maybe it will be you! Jim Bull MRA

Round #11 • MDRA Race Series • September 25, 2005 • By Kevin Sheckells Blue Diamond Park played host to Round # 11 of the MDRA Race Series. Broc Schmelyun was on hand and let me tell you, this kid is on a tear these days. Broc’s been ripping up his competition and his bikes. He was a favorite to win two classes at Blue Diamond today until his back wheel exploded while landing the big double – table along the chain link fence. Broc was OK but was unable to continue due to bike problems. The 125 and 250 A class action was impressive with fast company including Nick Evennou, Chad Wages, Willy Toth, Greg Duffy and many others. Moto XXX’s Evennou, home after the MX Nationals won both expert divisions. The 65 7-11 A class had an exciting battle Broc Schmeylun destroyed a rear wheel launching as Nate Randlett lost his seat in the first turn. the 100 footer on his 85. After completing a lap, he pitted and got his seat replaced, and set out for the leaders. He attempted a pass on Mike Reynolds for the lead with about three turns remaining but got in the deep stuff and settled for 2nd. He took 1st in moto two, and the overall. The 50 stock 7-8 class saw some good racing between young Kenny Venarchick and veteran fiddy pilot Jake Runkles. Runkles would prevail for the overall. A race worn jersey signed by Ricky Carmichael was put up for a silent auction with proceeds going to The Make A Wish Foundation. Blue Diamonds track announcer Factory Jake Ostrum raised $1000.00 for the cause. (Great Job Jake!) The Blue Diamond Park was open on Saturday night and was enjoyed by many. There were over 400 riders at this event proving again the interest in this excellent series. There are still several points’ battles being waged from 1st through 5th in many classes. For all our country folk, ya’ll got a healthy serving of traffic thanks to the Nascar race in Dover! Be sure to check out Blue Diamonds next event on Sunday November 6th. All racers will have a chance at winning a Team Green Ride for the 2006 season courtesy of Powersports East in Bear, De. Get the details for all Blue Diamond events at www.bluediamondpark.com.

Tech Tips

Since many of us are still riding throughout the fall and early winter, this is the time of year when you should pay close attention to your bikes jetting. A jetting setup that works in the 95 degree heat and humidity of July won’t work in 30 degrees of December. As air gets colder, oxygen molecule density increases and your bike runs leaner. Additional fuel must be added to compensate, meaning you have to richen your jetting. Fuel is what cools your engine, so lack of fuel means higher temperatures which can lead to the dreaded piston or crank seize! Carburetor jetting is much easier once the basic principles are known. The first mistake many people make is not realizing that carburetor jetting is determined by throttle position, not the engine speed. Here’s a little trick: Put a piece of tape on the throttle housing and another on your throttle grip. Put an arrow on the tape on the housing, and then mark the tape on your grip at closed, ½ throttle, and full open. You can now look at your throttle position to determine where you’re having the problem. The pilot system (air or fuel screw & pilot jet) control the fuel at idle to ¼ throttle. The jet needle and needle jet at ¼ to ¾ throttle, and the main from ¾ to full throttle. You must also realize that these systems interact with each other and overlap a bit. At ¼ throttle performance is affected by both pilot and needle, at ¾ throttle performance is affected by both needle and main. Keep an eye on your spark plug, chocolate milk is your best color (white=too lean, black = too rich). Another trick for getting a good reading to ride your bike for several seconds at the desired throttle opening and then pull in the clutch and hit your kill button simultaneously. Otherwise, you’ll always be getting a reading at idle speed as you come to a stop. I don’t have time here to get into extensive explanations, but I do want to call your attention to the four-stroke fuel screw. The fuel screw is the most important jetting change on a four-stroke. Performance can be increased substantially by simply adjusting this screw. The screw is located on the exterior of the carb and can be adjusted without removing the carb or float bowl. Unfortunately, the stock fuel screw is a real pain to get at, and also very hard to determine how much you’ve turned it. The screw is located on the bottom and is usually recessed making it impossible to see unless you can turn the carb sideways. There are many tools available to get at your pilot screw, but I’d highly recommend replacing it with an aftermarket fuel screw (as pictured). Most are knurled so you can turn with your fingers and graduated to see your changes. Turning the screw out allows more fuel to pass, making it richer. Your fuel screw should be set between one and 2 ½ turns out. Anything outside of that range usually indicates that a pilot jet change is required. If you notice a bog when you snap the throttle, the fuel screw is most likely set too rich. When the bike’s running too lean, you’ll experience a cut out and your bike may stall on you. You can also cure that backfire you get when letting off the throttle. T

pagoda motorcycle club District 6 Points • September 25, 2005 • by Jim Bull

Late September brought D6 Championship Points and Factory Contingency money to the Pagoda MC. Along with it came over 400 racers and their families to spend the day at the beautiful Pagoda Motorcycle Club. I have to admit I saw a first on this day, I spend my weekends traveling to races all around our region, but this is the first time I ever saw a club take the time to set up hand washing stations outside their porta potties. Way to go Pagoda, it’s the little things that make a big difference. This event was their annual Peifer Mini Track appreciation day as well. The Peifer family has been instrumental in helping Pagoda over the years and each year they do something special for the kids racing at the mini track. This year each participant got a free t shirt and the track was decorated with pumpkins for the upcoming holiday. Some of your winners included Savion Terry, Brett Cox, Scott Meshey, Zane Kline and Kyle Rader. Up on the big track the action was red hot and Pagoda, as usual spared no expense it getting the track ready for a great day of racing action. When I arrived at the track for the day I smelled a peculiar odor. My first thought was of the land fill down the street, but boy was I wrong. I later found out that the smell was coming from the 10 truck loads of Pure Oak Sawdust that had been applied to the track just prior to the event. Steve Phillips of Phillips Mushroom Farm had donated the magic dirt to be mixed in

with the already rich Pagoda soil. This stuff was fabulous, it was loamy and full and the track had more lines on it than I has seen anywhere in quite a while. The racers had three and four lines going thru the corners right up to their foot pegs. I got several good doses of this stuff as I was out on the track attempting to get my pictures. The best action of the day was between newly advanced pro Jason Lawrence and the D6 veteran Barry Carsten. The two would go at it in both expert divisions with Lawrence coming out on top in all cases. In amateur racing action, Kerry Kaminskie was the guy to beat; Kaminskie scored 3 victories winning both 125 and 250 B as well as Four Stroke. In the mini ranks the Desiderio, Page battle continues to roar thru the district with Desiderio grabbing two wins and Page one. In Supermini and 85 12-13 Frank Letteiri and Tyler Hawk went at it with Letteiri coming out on top. By the time you get to read this, Pagoda’s last race of the season will be in the books. I would like to thank them for their hospitality as well as all the racers that attend their events. Keep your eye’s and ears open, word is in addition to their great regular MX offerings for 2006 they may be hosting a Supercross race under the lights. Stay tuned to MRA and watch their website at www. pagodamotorcycleclub.com.

Delmarva Series Champion Why Should I Lift Weights In The Off-season progressive resistance that will give you the stability , strength, and power gains that will boost your performance and take you to the next level. Hopefully this will help you make up your mind up and get you to hit the gym this coming winter and also keep you from gaining those dreaded extra pounds in the off season. If you need any help you can e-mail me at Totaltwt@hotmail.com

It is always humorous to hear all the reasons athletes conjure up to avoid this stepchild of the endurance-training world. From the possibility of weight gain and the decrease in flexability, to the infamous lack of time and the fear of injury. Endurance athletes find more excuses for not lifting weights than the means teen-agers can come up with to avoid their chores. The irony of the situation is that this simple and relatively painless activity can not only be fun, but may be a critical link for many athletes to have that extra edge that goes so far in enhancing their performance once the racing season rolls around. There are the obvious reasons for incorporating weight training into your off season and pre- season regimen. From maintaining or building up some of that vital lean mass that will protect in a crash and also help you throw the bike around in the rough stuff. There are many other things that the athlete will benefit from, never mind the fact that that weight training can boost the metabolism, help regulate hormonal balance and improve posture. How many times have you needed that extra kick at the end of your moto? Weight training can play a major part in helping the rider find the necessary power at the end of a fatiguing event that their otherwise lesser-trained competitors may not be able to muster. This slight advantage could mean the difference between the podium and getting to watch them hand out the awards. One of the other, more commonly heard reasons for heading not to the gym is often heard I am a motocross racer, not a body builder. Why should I lift weights? I do not want to get big and bulky! This is where having a coach or at least someone vaguely familiar with strength training protocols designed in the current century comes in handy. Just because you lift weights does not mean you are going to get huge. The truth is that most people do not have the genetics to develop the size and bulk that many body builder types carry around. For those that do not have the knowledge in this direction, common sense and awareness of set/ rep/ rest and weight schemes come in handy. Endurance sports rely on very specific muscular actions and combinations of functional movement patterns that many of the traditional weight training exercises which do not even necessarily benefit the endurance athlete and can often be avoided entirely. This is where a coach is also important to guide you in setting up a strength training program that includes the appropriate set/ rep/ rest and weights performed over time with

flying dutchmen motocross banquet FDMC Clubhouse • October 8, 2005 • by Jim Bull

In early October the Flying Dutchmen MC hosted their annual Motocross Awards banquet at their clubhouse in Pine Grove, PA. FDMC has one of the nicest event halls in the district and their club members put on some of the best banquets I have attended since getting in the business. The food is always tasty and the service top notch. This year the Dutchmen hosted both Motorcycle and ATV racing on two separate tracks at their facility. They averaged close to 400 racers per event between the two tracks and this is in addition to their spring and fall Hare Scramble events. The Flying Dutchmen hall was full for this year’s banquet and after the hearty meal was complete Tina took to the podium and the

awards began. Along with Luke and Nancy’s help they awarded Class Championship coats to in some cases up to fifth place depending on the total rider participation. Every rider got a chance to thank their sponsors or families and in some cases pick on their buddies. As always at a Dutchmen Banquet, the real fun begins when the awards are done. The DJ takes over and everybody gets to cut loose a little bit off the track. I would like to congratulate all the winners and thank both the Zechmans and the racers for allowing us to be part of this all. Keep tabs on the Dutchmen in MRA and at their website at: www.flyingdutchmenmc.net.

Everyone was having fun !

Round #12 • MDRA Race Series • October 2, 2005 • By Jim Bull Round # 12 of the MDRA Race Series had to make a last minute change and it landed in the lap of Tomahawk MX. The weather was perfect for the over 400 racers that made their way to Tomahawk to chase down those valuable last minute series points. This series has been truly amazing in its first year averaging 468 riders per event. The racers and promoters have been committed to putting on some of the best racing of the 2005 season. The camaraderie has been tremendous and many life long relationships have been formed as the families have spent 12 weekends together doing what they love to do best. With over 5600 entries this year, 22 classes and an average turnout as big as it was, who would have thought there would be a class tie? In the 125 C division the two winners attended every single MDRA event. They raced hard and each had their share of victories. In the final round there were again two divisions and there was one more rider in one than the other. When it all washed out in the end the series had to be declared a tie because of the point earning ability Anthony Cascia gets the holeshot in the in that last race. What a show of sportsmanship. first moto of the 125 B division. There w e r e many other tight battles in the ranks of MDRA racers and I can’t wait to see what happens next year. In the two premier expert divisions alone, West Shore Suzuki’s Willy Toth won over $ 1600.00 in year end cash plus individual event earnings. Wow, is that a payday or what. We had several racers that won multiple classes, we had youth racers that gained valuable confidence being able to race against their peers of the same skill level and we had great BBQ. What more can you ask for. In 2006 the MDRA will be moving into its second season. They are promising us 12 more rounds of great racing action and on top of that they are increasing their year end payouts by a Mark Hushon sweeps whopping 40 percent. Again, I’ll say wow!! MDRA 4 motos winning 50 oil the Series that pays back to its racers. Check (4-8) B and 50cc (4-6) B. them out online at www.masondixonriding.com, Eric Myers wraps up the 4 Stroke get your MDRA card and we’ll see you at the Open class at Tomahawk MX. races in the spring.

Amber Hughes wins the Womens only race.

MOTOCROSS & MOTORCYCLE ACCESSORY OUTLET – MOTO JOCKEY Anticipating the opening of Blue Diamond Park, long time motorcycle enthusiast and racer Jeff Botsford saw the need for a place that people could get the parts and accessories they needed while spending a day riding and practicing at Blue Diamond Park. To fill the need, Moto Jockey opened its doors in July of 2003 and has never looked back. Located just around the corner from the track, people found Moto Jockey quickly and the closeout priced gear hit the spot with local parents whose children suddenly had a reason to get into dirt-biking.  According to Jeff, owner of Moto

Jockey the local sales have been great but what really makes an accessory only

business succeed is the ability to offer internet and phone order sales. Jeff has many years experience working within the industry both at the retail and service levels and he’s found that you need to be able to service your customer when they walk thru the door as well as being able to offer quick service when they are away from your facility. My hope was that someone, who was dis-satisfied with their local dealer, would find us when they came to Blue Diamond for the day and call us when they needed items later. You may stop in for a spark plug but you leave knowing all about our toll free number and web site. Jeff is a hands on owner but in addition he has two full time employees to help educate his customers. Both Adam and Chris are experienced motorcyclists and can give you the help you need whether you’re shopping in the store or sitting at home in front of your computer 100 miles away. As it turned out the concept has stuck, we’ve grown rapidly and we have doubled the size of our showroom in 15 months! You learn what works and what doesn’t real quick when you’re standing at the counter every day, says Jeff. We are trying some new advertising on magazines such as this and we hope

to reach new riders who haven’t met us yet.  Some key points to remember are that

we offer an everyday AMA discount to our customers. Another big advantage to shopping in Delaware is there is no sales tax to pay. We have every day low tire prices, no hassle returns, a toll free phone number, and free shipping on orders over $149.00 plus we have over $150,000.00 worth of dirt only stuff displayed on professional racks in a showroom with checker-board floors and diamond plate parts counters. People’s jaws usually drop wide open when they walk into our outlet store. I guess it doesn’t look like much from the outside says Jeff. We want to give you the pricing of the big boys with the service of a small owner operated shop.

Moto Jockey also offers a consignment program for their customers to sell their used motorcycles there. They have a mobile store set up at Blue Diamond so their customers can get their supplies on Sunday at the track. They will be a sponsor of the Delmarva Series next season and are contemplating taking their show on the road. So remember when at Blue Diamond make sure to check them out. They are right around the corner on the Dupont Highway in the strip mall by the RV lot. You can check them out online at www. motojockey.com or give them a call at their toll free number (866) 668-6562. And be sure to tell them that MRA sent you.

Drive Chains By Al Carr/ Andy Fleck the

Edge…

Drive chains have been around for a long time on motorcycles, the main reason for this is that they are efficient, durable and result in a minimal power loss compared to other systems. These other systems would include driveshafts which are impractical for a Dirt Bike, they are too heavy and not up to the demands of a long travel suspension (A BMW GS is not a dirt bike in my book).Fluid drive was experimented with some years ago but resulted in too much power loss. Chains come in many sizes, 420, 428, 520, 525, 530 & 630 the ones we as dirt bikers encounter most commonly are the 420, 428 and 520. This number system corresponds to the chains size which is length pin to pin and width, a 520 for example is 5/8” x 1/2” 80/85 cc bikes are usually seen with either a 420 or 428 chain. There was a time up until the late 70’s that 125’s came through with 428 chain. This was OK until about ‘76 when the performance level of 125’s became too much for a 428 chain to handle so for a couple of years a 520 conversion kit was a hot selling item. Today everything from a 125 up uses a 520 chain. Now the old saying you get what you pay for really applies with chains. You can cheez on the sprockets but always get a good chain. Putting a cheap chain on expensive sprockets will result in everything wearing out quickly. As the chain stretches it will quickly wear out the rear sprocket because it won’t ride down at the bottom of the sprockets teeth. The more it stretches the more it wants to ride out then the sprocket teeth start to hook. If your rear sprocket teeth are hooked then replace both sprockets and chain. Never put a used chain on new sprockets or vice versa. Treat the sprockets and chain as an assembly and replace them all at the same time. The countershaft sprocket is always made from steel which is far more durable than aluminium. It wears out as fast as the rear sprocket because it is smaller and sees 3 to 4 times as much engagement as the rear. Fitting a steel rear sprocket will result in significantly longer life but the heavier sprocket will have a detrimental effect on suspension performance as it increasesunsprung weight. Now there is that new sprocket that uses steel teeth rivetedto analuminium carrier to keep the weight down or the stainless steel sprocketswhich save weight by using less material due to their increased strength, theseare a very nice set ups that I highly recommend though they are a bit pricy.Still the cost should be offset by the extended life. Chain prices range from as little as $20.00 to well over $100. you need tocheck the requirements of your application and purchase accordingly. Chainsare rated by their tensile strength, their load carrying capability. A chainfor a 125 or 250 class machine should be in the 7000 to 9000 Lb. range. Thepopular DID 520ERT is rated at 8470 and costs about $90. retail, the DID 520MXchain is rated at 9000 and sells for $110. So you can see that a strongerchain will generally command a higher price. O-Ring chains aren’t any strongerbut will last longer because the lube is sealed inside

the rollers so they arenever without sufficient lubrication, unlike a standard chain which requiresthe lube be applied before each moto. For Moto-X racing a non o-ring chain will suffice as the length of time ontrack will not usually result in the chain shedding all its lubrication. HareScrambles riders might consider an O-Ring type of chain as their races aresignificantly longer. Some

people are under the misconception that O-Ringchainssuck up some horsepower, that might have been true years ago but with theadvent of X-Ring designs this is no longer the case. One thing to be aware ofwhen fitting an O-Ring chain is that they are slightly wider than a standardchain and may be a very tight fit through the chain guide which may require youtogrind out some of the plastic guide. Also regardless

of what type of chainyou choose always remember to install the masterlink clip with the closed endfacing toward the direction of rotation. If you put it on backwards there is avery good chance it will get knocked off as it passes through the chainguide. Consider yourself warned. Until next time, see you at the races..

1st annual mdra awards banquet & fun day Happy Ramblers Motorcycle Club • October 15, 2005 • By Jim Bull

A week of rain led us into the First Annual MDRA Awards Banquet and Family Fun Day that was held at the Happy Ramblers Club House in mid October. On Saturday morning just like it was almost meant to be the clouds parted and the sunshine prevailed for over 300 banquet attendees to enjoy a day of celebration, good eats and of course motorcycle riding. Yes the sun has shone on this brand new series in 2005. The MDRA in its first year has accomplished great things. First of all it has developed a series for the true motocross enthusiasts to follow. It concentrates on a select group of facilities offering two rounds at each track giving their members a practice day the Saturday before each Sunday race day. The series has many class choices offering a division for almost all skill levels, especially in the youth divisions. And last but not least, the MDRA gives everything back to its members. In 2005 over 5600 riders participated in the 12 round series. The average rider count for each round was 468 riders, talk about good competition. The MDRA paid out over $5700.00 cash in year end awards to its expert riders; this was over and above the guaranteed pay out at each event. The amateur classes were awarded

over $4800.00 in MDRA Bucks that are redeemable at MDRA tracks. How nice is that to show up with a jump on race fees for 2006? That’s over 10 grand total in cash and prizes. In addition to that they gave away a brand new Suzuki motorcycle just for holding an MDRA card, not bad for the $20.00 fee. 2006 promises to be even better yet. They have kept the fees the same, there will be 12 rounds again for the new year and the MDRA says they will up their pay outs by 40%. There is talk of Suzuki contingency money and new sponsors are signing up all the time. Of course you’ll still get the same great race coverage from MRA and don’t forget the BBQ’s. Always back to the food, in 2005 the MDRA fed its members at 6 of the 12 rounds and I witnessed and participated in some of the best grilling action you can find. If you’re already a member you know what I’m talking about. If so we thank you and hope that you renew and come hang out with us again in 2006 If you’re not a member and would like to find out more about this great series log onto the net at www.masondixonriding.com or give a call at (717) 249-6036 during the day. We’ll see you next year.

The eats were second to none including pork with all the fixin’s.

Fathers and sons hanging out with the MDRA. Bob Huston is your Senior A Champ.

Garret Toth wins both School Boy and 125 B.

Nicholas Carruba is your 50cc Oil Injected A class winner.

212 riders entered the 125 C class this year. Adam Layman and Brian Domschke ended in a tie for the championship.

Kudos to the Yentzers for starting a great motocross series.

2006 promises to be even better yet.

Happy ramblers motorcycle club Ultimate MX • D6 Points • October 16, 2005 • By Jim Bull

D6 points, Ultimate MX, Factory Contingency and Four foot trophies sponsored by Cumberland Kawasaki in Carlilse, PA. Wallace, Plotts, Clark, Wile, Toth and Cook. The experts were there, Johnson, Wages, Dickson and Myers. The racing action was hot and Jeremy Cook was the man in the 125 A division. In the 250 ranks, Ty Wallace stepped up and got the win. Wallace was your victor in the over 30 A group too. Then it really got good, American Suzuki’s Nico Izzi came to town, Nicoletti was there and Kaminskie, Garret Toth and Dan Holton. School Boy, 125 and 250 B proved to be as exciting as any other races of the day. Izzi pretty much dominated except for one moto of the School Boy division when Nicoletti got the holeshot and led for two laps. Word around the pits was that Izzi’s PR2 prepped RMZ250 was up about 8 HP over Nicoletti’s CR125. I’d love to see them go at it on equally prepared machines. I guess all the hype this year over who had the best bike might have been real, it trickles down.

How about the mini racing action? Again, Desiderio and Page, they even gave Schmelyun a run for his money in the Junior Mini division. Names like Evan Richard and Scott Meshey both dominating their classes. And MDRA 65cc champ Dillon Thomas proves he has the muster against D6’s best. Thomas won both motos of 65cc 7-9 ahead of Addison Emory in second. It was a great day of racing and the Happy Ramblers crew did a great job of running the event. The staff out at Happy has gone through some changes this year and each event seems to be getting better and better. They’re committed to the track and the racers. I recommend you give them a shot if you’re not a regular attendee. Happy has one more event this year on November 13th so give them a try before packing it in for the year. Keep tabs here at MRA or log onto their website at www.happyramblers.com.

Curtis Baker (108) and Drew Kibler (315) go 1 -2 respectively in College Boy.

Fisher, Stevey, Schmelyun and Lettieri, what a day.

Steven Stair wins the 40+ Senior B group.

Evan Richard sweeps the 50cc 7-8 stock class.

Then it really got good, American Suzuki’s Nico Izzi came to town,…

Ian Hess wins the 50cc Oil (4-6) division. Phil Nicoletti (71) chased American Suzuki’s Nico Izzi (34) all day long.

Lauren Snyder hangs out with a friend waiting for her moto. Lauren took 1st on the day.

J.R. Muckel flies to a fourth in Vet B.

Schuyler Martin goes 1-1 in the 85cc (14-15) group.

We will have a great selection of bikes, quads, clothing and accessories for mom, dad and all the kids. Thanks again for your understanding and kindness and we’ll see you at the races.

No customer units were lost, but we did lose a small percentage of new units along with some parts and accessory orders that were awaiting pickup. I believe by now, everyone that was affected has been contacted and we are getting them riding again.
