Wellsway Business Students in Base Competition Two teams of Wellsway Sixth Form Business & Economics students enjoyed competing on Wednesday 11th Feb in the South West regional heat of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England & Wales ‘Base’ Business competition at the University of the West of England. The two teams consisted of student studying either Economics, Business Studies or Applied Business at A level. They worked alongside accountants from a variety of local firms including Deloitte, KPMG and Ernst & Young, analysing data and developing a future strategy for a food producer. The information was based on a case study given in the professional exams taken by Chartered Accountants and gave students first hand experience of the challenges faced by a modern business operating in a changing economic landscape. The teams presented their ideas to a panel of business experts and narrowly missed going through to the national final in June.
The visit also gave students the chance to discuss future routes into Accountancy and talk to apprentices, school leavers and graduates each following a different path towards working in the Financial Services industry. The event gave students an insight into the opportunities available to work in one of Bristol’s biggest employers and wealthiest industries.
Alice Lamb and Morgan Brown from year 12 took 20 students to the Forum in Bath to perform a dance. The choreography was excellent and the girls were fantastic!
