Bask in your own bit of Bali Owners figured if they couldn’t live there, home could still feel like it. By SAMANTHA JONES AS someone who has spent a lot of time in Bali, I was very impressed by the authenticity of this Balinese-style residence. Inspired by their love affair with the Indonesian island, the owners created the home they would have built had they lived there. The individually designed dwelling is constructed from raw materials imported from Bali. It has an emphasis on seamless internal and external integration, with light, airy indoor features blending with the serene and native exterior. Double entry doors open to an impressive pavilion-style main living area with an exposed iron roof and giant bamboo beams. A modern kitchen is set to the immediate left of this room and has marble bench tops, a Bosch dishwasher, built-in pantry, lots of storage room and a single fridge and microwave recess. A winding staircase is on the opposite side of the room and accesses a secondlevel void, which could be used as a study or second living space. Some of the gorgeous features that add character to the large space include timber laminate flooring, imported Bali chandeliers, a built-in log fireplace and a sunken water feature with giant urn.
