THE Starlight Children’s Foundation will benefit from an auction of a multi award-winning home in Seville Grove this month. Jade Projects, the builder of the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home, has agreed to donate $6000, or any money raised above the reserve price, from the sale of the property at 70 Verdant Crescent, to the foundation. The property has been awarded the 2009 HIA Greensmart Water Efficiency Award, Energy Efficiency Award and The Project Home of the Year Award. Its sustainable features include four-star water fixtures, photovoltaic solar panels, rainwater tanks, greywater reticulation system, passive solar orientation, universal access and water wise gardens.

The Palisades launched at Meve Developer offering choice of four Don Russell home designs in prime release area, says TANYA MACNAUGHTON
MEVE at Beeliar has introduced a new approach to modern living with the launch of The Palisades. The development of stylish, contemporary houses has been designed by Don Russell Homes to reflect today’s modern lifestyle while at the same time placing an emphasis on easy living and privacy. Development director Phil
Stannard said the project offered a choice of four designs and elevation. Each floor plan includes freeflowing dining, living and alfresco areas, well-appointed kitchens and bathrooms, a ground floor main bedroom suite and a first floor with two bedrooms, activity room and bathroom. “Buying a house-and-land design
package streamlines the purchase and pre-construction process because all approvals are already in place,” Mr Stannard said. “It also provides more flexibility to custom design internal fitouts and finishes while offering buyers considerable savings in stamp duty.” The Palisades house and land packages range in price from
$487,867 to $514, 410. The well-established Meve estate has already proven a popular choice with its parks, a lake, a village centre, primary school and shopping centre under construction. “Because of its uniqueness, it is expected that The Palisades will be highly sought after,” Mr Stannard said. ■
First-home buyers’ market share hits a record 28 per cent THE percentage of first-home buyers in the property market has swelled to the highest level on record, new data shows. First-home buyer properties now make up 28 per cent of all dwellings financed, which is the largest proportion recorded since
the Australian Bureau of Statistics began collecting the data in 1991. The number of housing loan approvals rose by 0.9 per cent in April, the seventh monthly rise in a row. The value of home loan approvals was up by almost 2 per cent. The average size of the first-
home buyers’ loan eased slightly to $283,400, from almost $286,000. First-home buyers have been flocking to the market , buoyed by a boost to the Federal Government’s first-home owners grant to $14,000 for existing homes. First-home buyers opting for a
newly-built house can claim up to $21,000 in government grants. The boost to the grant was originally intended to end at the end of this month, but thanks to changes in the Budget it will be continued in full until October 1. From then, it will be halved to
$10,500 for existing homes, and $14,000 for new homes. The boost will end on December 31. Westpac senior economist Andrew Hanlan said there was a “dramatic improvement” in housing affordability, with variable mortgage rates now the lowest since 1968. ■
