Rental insulation rebate boost for greener housing NEWS

GREEN-minded renters are in luck. Landlords have been given extra incentives to install ceiling insulation. The Federal Government has increased the insulation rebate for rented properties from $1000 to $1600, which fully covers the cost for all but the biggest houses. This brings rented properties into line with privately-owned homes. Both now are eligible for the full $1600 rebate. The program aims to cut electricity use and greenhouse gas emissions. Insulation is a great solution for comfort at home, reducing the inside temperature by 8 to 10 per cent. Better still, it can reduce energy consumption by up to 30 per cent and save householders up to $200 a year on their heating and cooling bills.
